MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO
WHEN THE BROOK DRIES - Lead and Feed Series 7
Read I Kings 17:2-16
1 Kings 17:7, KJV
"And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land."
There's a work that you could trust God to discharge on your behalf when the brook dries. It is the Lord who solely does this as much as you've submitted leadership and guidance of yourself to Him. If you're an attentive, listening and instruction propelled Christian, you will know what or where next God is directing you to. Today, God is facing you to tell you "no condition is permanent." He's telling you the brook might dry up tomorrow though He initially sent you there. Your job is not God in whom your trust should be. It is only a means by which God glories Himself, make you exercise your creative ability and have you sustained through its proceed. Never say, "if I lose this job, I'll be finished." Your job is important and you shouldn't be lackadaisical about it or test the authority to prove what would happen but you're only finished if you're cut off from God - your Vine. From Him we all take nourishment. He is our cause and in Him we live, move and have our being.
The brook that might dry for some may be their sponsor that may be incapacitated. He has been doing it before but suddenly, he becomes bankrupt and couldn't go further to tear them provision often. What should be the attitude of a Christian then? He should look up unto God who initially gave him the brook and the ravens to take sustenance from to open up another place. I'll like you know that you're the thought that enters God's mind. Those who leave everything in God's hands will see God's hands in everything. If you so much rely and wait on Him, God won't disappoint you. Hear this Psalms.
Psalms 104:26-27, KJV
"26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. 27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season."
You see, all God's creation wait on God that they might be fed. Our provision comes from God. It is what He gives us we gather. Knowing this, He'll always hasten to ensure you don't come to want. He provides in due season or else! When the brook dried, did you not see God come for Elijah? Did you not hear God saying, "relocate, arise to Zarephath. There's the next provision." Leading I said precedes feeding. You must be locatable. If one brook, job or means of sustenance closes up, God will open up another channel hurriedly. He does this to proclaim Himself as master over all situations and people. He said, "he had commanded a widow to feed Elijah there." At such moments, God will ordain places and people for you who won't be able to say "no" to you.
How many people are there with the symptoms of a dried brook? It simply means you need another job or means of sustenance. God will choose any desirable means for you to have Himself glorified. This is also a message to anybody or system that has become a brook to anyone not to become proud or suddenly withold the bread God kept in their custody for others. If you do, God will always be glorified. The brook that dried dried to its own shame. The storyline could have continued with the brook but immediately, it shifted to Zarephath. I hope you don't want to be replaced or substituted. I'm hoping you want to find relevance as a vessel in God's hands for use continually. I pray that God will give any whose brook has dried, is drying or will soon dry a Zarephath to take refuge in. God knows where the next move is. He knows where the barrel of meal won't be spent and where the cruse of oil won't fail. He knows where the cloud has gathered, where the carcass is, where the green pastures are and He shall indeed lead you beside His still waters. You'll feed on abundance and do in peace.
PRAYER: Be my headlamp. Reveal to me next steps to carry in the journey of "never being in want." I know Your faithfulness.
