PUT UNDER COMMAND - The Commanded Series 007

I Kings 17:8-9, KJV

"8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying 9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee".

Kai! God has vessels for use everywhere. He one time told Paul that He has a lot of people in this city.

Acts 18:10, KJV

"For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city"

Even if we don't know whether God has much people in Zarephath, we can bear witness that there's a vessel who God can send to and put under command for the sake of Elijah - a son.

God's Word by which we should live came to Elijah instructing him to get himself to Zarephath (it was for an intent and that it might be fulfilled that Elijah didn't go hungry) and that He has commanded a widow woman to feed him there. You see, we don't have a black and white record or report of God visiting this woman and instructing her about Elijah but from what God expressed here, we should know God actually visited that widow of Zarephath before Elijah ever knew about her from God, knew her in person or even arrived in her place. God's Word reads, "for I have commanded a widow woman to feed you there".

Do you know what it means to "command" or "put under command"? It actually means to put under oath. When you're commanded, it becomes inevitably your responsibility to discharge. It means there's a word that has gone over your head; a word that is binding on you and which God will like you to live up to.  God says, "I have commanded a widow woman to feed you there". It means irrespective of how it goes, Elijah of a surety must be fed. A yoke is on that woman. God therefore puts this widow woman under obligation. It may not be convenient but she is open to it and will obey it. Note, it wasn't Elijah who went to tell himself to this woman. God did. Only that when Elijah arrives and propose what God had earlier notified this woman, she affirms it by opening to it and judging there's a space for him even in her stringency. Let God first tell you He has commanded men for your sake. Stop speaking to uncommanded men.  Don't place a request on those God has not commanded for you. Let that be how you live your life. They're simply not worthy if God has not called them for you. Those who are will be those God qualifies for you. They won't treat you less than they'll treat God - in honour and reference (knowing God is their Father and Lord). Whenever it's God who tells them you'll be coming and God thus becomes their fear, they'll relate well with you. They don't want to disappoint God. As for you or I or any human, we don't worth much before others except for God with us.

I have an incident to explain what it means to "have commanded someone for another fellow's sake or put under command or obligation".

Genesis 24:2, KJV

"2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: 9 And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter".

This servant of Abraham comes under that oath that instant he takes it. He becomes the commanded that moment he places his hand under Abraham's thigh to swear. It means if he has his own will to do before, taking that oath has eliminated doing as he wills now. You become the commanded the moment God speaks to you and you consent. You come under a sort of oath having signed an accord or having given your consent to God. That woman actually consented to God. If there were no agreement between herself and God, Elijah would never have been welcomed. Once you're commanded, you're put under oath and a sort of demand to have something fulfilled. This is who this woman becomes because of Elijah. A woman who has a commanded tag or label on her just for the sake of one man - one man like that who must not go hungry. I don't know if you've travelled out before. If you've been out and you're particularly a honourable fellow, you'll have a pick up driver waiting for you with a display of your name. Imagine arriving somewhere and you being awaited to be taken to the next place. You see, such pick up driver is there for your sake. He's carrying a label because he's under command for your sake. How important Christians are to God. He cares for His own family and He could travail the ends of the earth to meet their needs. He puts things on ground for them. Should Elijah get to Zarephath to begin to appeal his way into the heart of that widow? No! He'll just reduce and useless God. God didn't intend that we ministers beg and go around trying to find what to eat especially if you're in the full time. He'll rather command and compel men for your sake. I prefer that than saying, "help me, please, help me". The world will laugh at you, you will see. How obedient His children should also be in being prompt to come under command and give to the sent anything that God has instructed them to give in a no less or more manner. Father, I pray for these ones that you'll put them under command for men and men under command for them. Whenever it is dark and it's famine, may you always find an abode and escape for them. May we not stray to any who God has not put under oath for our treatments. May we not walk by sight and say it's one Eliab that the Lord has chosen for Himself (and consequently for us) when our help which comes from the Lord is hidden in a widow woman. A widow woman who's needy herself with the testimony of a little oil and a little meal but one who the Lord has spoken to and shall enlarge for our sake. Yes, for your sake, the Lord will bless the obedient! You just don't collect, your arrival brings returns also. God made it so.

PRAYER: Lord, put me under command for men and vice versa. I obey!

GIVE THAT BREAD NOW! - Commanded Series 004

I Kings 17:2-4, KJV

"2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying 3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land".

Count yourself privileged when called and used. It should be the Christian's exclaim that God has found him for use. For this reason of being demanded for or from by the Almighty, he should carefully open up and give to God as He'll request him to do. If all God created is created for His pleasure, then let's render whatsoever He calls us to for His pleasure. This should be after we have given ourselves - our bodies a living sacrifice to God (Rom. 12:1).

God sent Elijah to Brook Cherith. There, the ravens will expect to find him. God was clear on why He's sending him there. So that he'll drink of the brook as he's fed of the ravens. You can be sure that whatsoever God does is always straight and complete. Not even one is lacking! He has not only availed Elijah bread, He as well made provision for water. I pray for you that your joy shall be complete. Your find and discovery in life will be full to the brim - not lacking one thing.

The brook is God's own. God created it. If the brook ever argues that, it won't argue that the water that makes it a brook is heaven's rain. It is to this 'servant' of God that the Lord sent Elijah with a command that the ravens will bring him bread but that he'll drink from the brook. What a perfect God! May I emphasize that He doesn't do His work partially. Where He sends you is also where He has furnished a table for you.

Naturally, there's no way the brook could have refused Elijah. It's inanimate. God sent him there to be given drink amidst other reasons. For the time frame he was there, he drank from the brook. Unfortunately however, the brook dried up! His vehicle by which God quenches his thirst and meet his needs just died! What killed the brook? There was no rain. This is the sole fact by which all of us should be warned. What you have, you were given and if God would shut the windows of heaven at you, you'd soon arrive here - where you'll have the testimony of, "and it dried". A fact that's solely crested on the truth that every good and perfect gift that we have comes from above. However, I'm seeing a reason in the fact that we don't know what might happen in the nearest future. For that reason, God will desire you to be of service when you can. We will not always be available. All of us will have our chances to participate or be included in one thing or the other that He's doing however and at a time. What matters is to seize this chance and discharge to our best or as God has given us to discharge. The brook dried but before it was this ended, the brook was a yielded means meeting the need God drawn on it. If the brook were a human being, after it died and passed on, he wouldn't be reminded or ever have the consciousness of ever not being of service when it could. Though it is not human yet we know we are full of testimonies today that both the ravens and the brook as an associate met the needs of Elijah. I am not saying you will die soon. The truth of what I'm showing you is here.

Ecclesiastes 11:1-2, KJV

"1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. 2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth".

That place assures if you cast your bread upon the waters (even if as an intentional investment and not a give away as the Lord may demand of you as I'm saying) that you'll find it after many days. Then, it goes further to say that you should give a portion to seven and then to many people. Then, it concludes with a reason, "for you don't know what will come upon the earth". The brook couldn't have seen its own end but all of us know it'll dry if heaven remains shut. The brook may be flamboyant and boastful because it is of the fullness of the Creator it has received rain after rain. But just a little witholding of hand dried it up. May I also say we are like the brook in God's hands. We are serving purposes and never forgotten by Him when we are both full or dry. When heaven opens up and gives its rain, did the brook not later partake of it? It obviously does. The moral is this. If God makes a demand on you for whatsoever reason, don't withhold yourself. The reason is because a time, a soon time is coming when you may not be able to will yourself in that direction again. When your brook still has water, offer it up. Give Elijah a drink. That's your service to God and to humanity. The Bible says in John 9:4, "I must work the works of He that sent me while it is day, for night comes when no man can work any longer". If God calls you to be a kingdom fashion designer, model, preacher or even a school teacher; that'll be because God wants to use you to meet the needs that He has seen. The brook and the ravens didn't give the same thing to Elijah but it was to the same end - to sustain and keep him alive. Irrespective of your field or calling, you'll be fulfilling God's will there. If He has come this early for you, go and be of service in that profession. Even nowadays, age limit is set in some professions. Except at your age God is calling you there; if you're over age, all the doors will remain shut at you. But I tell you, while your brook still have water, let it give a drink to the commanded especially. This is kingdom admnistering. Mind you, the fellow sent to you may not be a minister of God. However, whomsoever God will say you should adopt, like sending an orphan to school, kindly do. Your brook may not even dry but by the time you come to obey God, you may be shocked that that same child has found adoption and support in another commanded vessel who obeyed promptly. So, what I have, I'll give especially once I ascertain that it's the Lord's doing and His sent that stands before me. I'm a tool in His hands and I believe, so you are.

PRAYER: Lord, may I be of full service while I may. May this remembrance be in me that of Your fullness and from You comes all I have.

A REASON TO TRUST GOD

Read Matt.10:1-16

Luke 22:35, KJV

"And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing."

There's always a reason to trust God. If you think there's none, He'll give you one or more until He has you for Himself. A conversation ensued between a young, vibrant minister and God one day. God would have him go into full time ministry and called him to same. The young man has responsibilities. He desires same but it seems many strings are holding him down. He has come to know what it means having money to cater for needs. To him, without a job at hand, many things will suffer. Not even when a wife is in the picture. However, God won't stop coming. He keeps coming and coming to Him to come and be with Him in ministry fully. It got to head on such a day that God like a friend facing the other in a conversation asked him if He had not been afore faithful to him. God asked, "you once had a tertiary education. Despite how sponsor-less  you were, I saw you through. Though you had moments of hunger occasionally, did you eventually lack a thing? Everything that any student could boast of was what I did for you. You took your life in your hands to follow me then and I saw to it that your needs are met even if I waited until you got to the peak of your needs as we walked together. Why not trust me now? Or did you not acknowledge you never lacked a thing then?" The young man replied, "no!" God told him, transfer the same faithfulness here. Trust me this once. Let me be your inheritance, possession and reward. I'm making you a priest. Your source of livelihood will be different from the multitude you know but I promise you my faithfulness.

I'll say to trust is hard in the face of many things proving it contrarily. God asked the disciples also, "when I sent you out, did you lack a thing? They couldn't gain say. It was a no. You see, God isn't a failure. For as many He calls, He sees to. Faithful is He who calls you who will also do it. Except you're not called. That's why you can't be presumptuous about God's call. If you're mocking, you'll soon be set straight. Today, God is calling people to the field. God crazily needs labourers. The needs overwhelms the labourers. The field is ripe. It is harvest. God needs people who will go and wholly be unto Him in ministry. People who God could call, make demands on anytime because they're not obligated to another master or hindering activity. You may have your fear in your family which you're concern for, your old parents who relies on you to take a living, your siblings whom your parents have now made your responsibility but all still bears on "when I once sent you out, did you lack a thing?" It relies on, "was there not a time I showed you my commitment? Was a thing amiss then?" This is God's way of having you converted to Himself and for His usage. Our fears aren't fear if we'll trust God. Though we may begin to take thoughts for tomorrow yet tomorrow as God slated it has been well taken care of. Our own minds might have been attuned to the common way by which a man takes living which are getting a job or doing business rather than waiting for one's daily bread which has been put in someone's charge. Some wouldn't want to hearken to God's call in that way because of their dignity or ego they want to satisfy. They'll say, "I'm rather paid off carrying my scrip etc all around. Seeing to my needs is more reliable." However, God proved to us that without taken thought consciously for our provision especially as ministers, He could feed any He calls and sends. He did to the disciples. That's why He asked, "when I sent you out without scrip, did you lack a thing?" It was a "no." How were they fed then? They were fed by being admitted into houses where there are children of peace as they salute it. Because the labourers deserve their wages, whatsoever they set before them as provision, they kindly receive. Yet, they made no provision for that journey. Stop reasoning it. If the Lord calls or has called you, provision is settled with it. It's only the sheep or a Christian that it's not the Lord leading out that would be in want because such won't be able to find green pastures. But if He calls you, that's your safety valve. Hold Him by that. He shall meet your needs. God is ever faithful. At all times, the response and testimony we keep gathering from those who He called, who already went is, "we lacked nothing!"

PRAYER: Help me to safely trust in you. Lord, send labourers. Raise me as one. May we be sacrificial disciples.

WINDOWS IN HEAVEN!

Read II Kings 6:24-33, 7:1-2

II Kings 7:2, KJV

"Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof."

Elisha declared what the Lord would do but because of its unreasonableness in contrast with the ongoing situation, a lord examined it and judged it wrong. Situation has finally gotten him. Elisha said, "get ready for abundance"; he countered saying, "would that be possible even if God were to do a miracle."

Please brethren, under what condition then will it be possible to turn hopelessness around if not a "miracle" which has the potency to turn such unwanted situation caused by the Syrians around. If anyone will doubt a thing, it shouldn't be the fact that the mouth of the Lord said, "He'll do a miracle." We all know what a miracle is. We know that a miracle is a miracle. It is that which brings the divine to fore and to humanity's aid in order to cure his desperateness and needs. Miracles break conventions. If that be the case from our understanding of what miracle is, why should somebody then confess antagonistically that even "if the Lord does a miracle (by making windows in heaven), it won't still be possible for abundance to manifest." Yet, that's what God had said He'll do by that prediction of Elisha which ran ahead of the feedback of this straying lord. Are you seeing how mankind stumbles with his mouth? When things are hard and all hope gone, what else I repeat can we trust to plough and break the ground for us if not miracles? Why should any fool or wise one say then, "at the face of miracle, nothing would still change." Such must be crazy and he ought to be shown his folly because his denying that miracle can't be miraculous enough to make a turn around is actually accusing God of incapability. Such would have successfully said, "God's arm is short even if He stretches it out." That is slaughtering God and denouncing His power.

I was in the company of three people recently. We were praying. It was a very beloved sister of mine who was leading prayer on provision towards a cogent project ahead of us all. As the prayer tarried on provision, I saw that verse I quoted floating to me while same was  impressed firmly on my spirit. I heard, "windows in heaven!" Same was explained to me in that hour. The Lord responded, I'll make, "windows in heaven. I'll do a miracle and give one where you all thought less. I'll bring something out of nothing. I'll create ways where there are no ways in simple terms." This answer and explanation fitted the prayer request and so much assured me that I knew God was speaking to us. We've been praying for miraculous provision and encouraging ourselves to believe for same when I heard, "windows in heaven." I gave the brethren the prophecy and we concluded the prayer. That's how we secured our breakthrough and took God by His own appearing to us. Who's there thinking on provision? Who's there thinking of a way of escape over a thing? I declare, "windows in your heaven. Possibilities in your impossibilities. Ways for you where there'd been none. Something is made out of nothing for you."  No matter how hard things are for people and the world, you'll always hear a word behind you making your case different by the comforting declarative utterance of, "windows in heaven." This is your escape orchestrated by God. I say, "windows in heaven."

PRAYER: Thank you for windows in my heaven. Thank you for creating for me a way of escape. Thank you for bringing miracles to break my famine.

GET THEE DOWN TO JEZREEL - Lead and Feed Series 014

Read I Kings 18

I Kings 18:44, KJV

"And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not."

Every "get thee to a place" is always for a purpose. Thank you Holy Spirit. It is to beat something or be ahead of an event that'll likely unfold sooner or later. The event here is caused by the same declaration of closed heaven (famine) prophesied by Elijah. The heaven he locked was to be opened now. Guess what it would look like if rain were to fall for the first time in three and half years. What sort of rain and with what intensity God would want it fall as to begin to bring the people out of such intense famine and dryness? It can't but rain cat and dog. A beat of its stroke would be so strong and painful on the human body.

So, Elijah told his servant, tell Ahab (the king) to get himself down to Jezreel lest he be stopped. That isn't strange to us. We know rain can stop any especially if there's no umbrella or shelter for such to move about in it. Except you're ready to be really soaked, that's when you'll plunge into it without care. The reason for such swift move and instruction is, "lest you (Ahab) be stopped." That's why he must get to Jezreel before hand. For Elijah, "lest you be in want." That's why he must get to Zarephath on time as we saw yesterday. Those of you who are proud and are always offending those God would like you be at peace with, a day is coming that God would say, "get thee to him or her." You'll see that though you've heard God and don't want to disobey Him, you'll have reasons to be reluctant because of your conscience that'll prick you with the remembrance of all you've did. However, let this be your comfort also. If God tells you to get thee anywhere, it means those people will lack the capacity to say "no" to you even if you're their enemy but this shouldn't be why you'll be a devil amidst men or thorn in their flesh. The widow of Zarephath found Elijah irresistible. Such people must open up and come into agreement with God's bidding. You're not the one they're respecting and honouring that high but God Who they can't refuse Who is commanding them to see to it that you're sustained. Who's this instruction unto? Who must relocate if he won't be behind schedule, suffer harm or losses? Don't let God speak twice. Now is your time to move because what God envisaged would happen is gathering momentum to manifest. Elijah could assuredly gather it would rain. By the symptoms around, it is inescapable. From that, he instructed Ahab how to be saved from being stopped by the rain. May you be guided and ordered so you'll be ahead of world's events that have potency of causing harm or delay to people. Only few could foresee the event and take necessary caution towards it. Others would be punished. God is speaking to you, "escape therefore to the city of refuge. Make a move now to the city of light." Flee to secure provision, protection and comfort that you may live.

PRAYER: Lord, I escape the wrath to come. I shall not be short-sighted and be punished. I shall see the evil to come and hide myself from same.

GET THEE TO ZAREPHATH! - Lead and Feed Series 013

I Kings 17:8-9, KJV

"8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee."

May I ask what the instruction was? Where was he told to get to? Why was he told to get there? Will getting there make any difference? Will restraining not matter also? People, welcome to another day. The Spirit is ready to wing you God's word. Let's travel on Morning Wings so that we might reach the uppermost end of the sea (which would be manifested in reaching the peak of our destinies on earth).

God expressly spoke to Elijah and no fellow could even deny His telling him, "get thee to Zarephath." There are those who deny instructions. Joab did and he was confronted for denying an outright instruction of the king that should be weighty to him (II Samuel 18:12). Today, I want to show you why some still suffer though God has destined that they should be led and fed. The Lord is their Shepherd and is now coming to begin to feed them but by first issuing them instructions as to where and how to be fed but they seem deafened, non-challant and reluctant leaving the familiar they've known for the unfamiliar God is commanding. Let me tell you, you'll suffer much and make the Scripture that says, "the young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those that seek the Lord shall not suffer good things" void by this your disobedience (Psalms 34:10). God said irrevocably and with every sense of responsibility to Elijah, "get thee to Zarephath." Listen, that was the responsibility of Elijah to see to. God knows where it's happening, where the next move is, where the cloud has gathered and where the carcass is. He only leads to where the green pasture is. The fact that there's "green pastures" means there are "brown or dry pastures" also. That's however not fresh meal. God desires you feed on the choicest meals of Zion if you'll be willing and obedient but if you'll become reluctant and afraid of what is ahead because you don't have all the details, you'll fall into want and suffer needlessly. That's why God is saying, "I have a solution. You, get yourself to Zarephath (outside the country, to another city or town in your country, to another job, to your friend's or pastor's house, the garage, the square, that restaurant) etc. There, I have commanded somebody to feed you (see to your sustenance). There, I have commanded your path and your helper to cross. That means, unless you're there, that provision can't be uncovered. You may not know the fellow but on getting there, identification would happen. The gravitational pull that happened at the valley of dry bones that drew bone to bone would pull you to the recognition of each other. You'll be locatable and both of you will come into agreement like Elijah and this widow did. Things are scheduled for locations and settings. If God is saying, "go and apply to that place because I have commanded you to be employed and sustained there while you're reluctant, if your brook dries, you'll suffer. Unless Elijah goes to Zarephath, that prophecy of being fed can't come to pass. His miracle is geography bound. His feeder is in Zarephath and not Syria. How many people has God appeared to in this manner who have wasted His instruction and are suffering for same needlessly? You've undone yourself. Lack of trust in God and fear of the unknown is costing you. You want God to tell you everything once and for all instead of being led a step at a go. You're joking. That wouldn't be faith again. God said, "get thee to Zarephath." Did you see any immediacy and urgency in that instruction also? It was even a command. Having received such instruction, it becomes sin for its holder to tarry or spend the night even where God has departed from and is commanding him to depart from also. As a matter of fact, if you're still where you should have departed from (at God's command), anything could kill you there. All the things that God's hedge of protection afore shielded you from while you were obeying God (by abiding where He first commanded you to stay) could now kill you. Why? You're in disobedience. This could open a crack in your hedge of protection. This is because while God has moved to Zarephath, you're still at the Brook Cherith. God has said, "get thee out of your country but you're still established there like a mountain." I bet it with you, what couldn't kill you before until that instruction could kill you now. Rumours of war, banditry, terrorism etc that you never esteemed previously could now break through your hold and make you unsettled.

God is saying to someone, before you and I could even revisit what I've told you and intended to make of you, "first of all obey, leave Brook Cherith (where you are presently) and depart to Zarephath (where I've commanded you should be). Until then, no second talk. I praise those who heard God and left for abroad or a new territory especially where there's no familiar face or a consciously prepared place for them at arrival. I mean those God sent there without having assurance of a system or person catering for their needs upon arrival like a student who get a full scholarship to study abroad. Such people would pack like Abraham and go where they've not been, only trusting in the God of their prophecy, Who will now ordain their path with the appointed helper. God has spoken to many like this without details of what's next. They only trusted. That's why God also is not ashamed to be called their God. If they've so much followed Him commitedly, He ought manifest to them commitedly. I'm hearing, "stop and get thee to Zarephath." In God's mind, you know where Zarephath is. The instruction is therefore not mysterious. As a matter of fact, you know how to get there. So, nothing seems too demanding but may disobedience not cage you and finally cost you.

PRAYER: Lord, make me obedient at heart. Let me hear you once and acknowledge with action seven times.
