DID DAVID INDEED KILL HIS TEN OF THOUSANDS? - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 006

Read I Sam. 17

1 Samuel 18:7-8, KJV

"7 And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. 8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?"

At the battle against the Philistines, God used David to kill Goliath while the rest of the Philistines turned back when they saw their champion was dead and were pursued by the Israelites' soldiers and killed (I Sam. 17:51).

At the arrival of the soldiers, they were met by women who with their creative ability have composed a song to celebrate the victorious occasion and acknowledge all those that should be acknowledged. In the song, David's and Saul's names were strewn into it with David given the larger share of the conquest. They said, "Saul has defeated his thousands but David, his ten of thousands." Yet, we all know David only killed a fellow - and that's Goliath. Then, where came, "David has killed his ten of thousands if indeed he only killed Goliath?" What you have to quickly understand is this, a leader worth many of his followers. Yea, we're not trying to show unreasonable superiority between those up there and those down here. That's why you and the president of your nation don't receive the same security preference. They're on the look out for him, not you. Consider these places that shows a leader is a multitude of his people (II Sam. 18:3, I Kings 22:21, Matt.26:31).

So, it is now rightly being interpreted if we say that though it was only Goliath that David killed, but because he was a principality, a giant, a great warrior that causes fear in people, a mighty mountain and obstacle that many fear and regard as "can't be confronted let alone defeated", he qualifies being regarded as multitude. Even Saul discouraged David by saying, "he has been a man of war from his youth." That's to tell you how much he was referenced. If that be, it is this importance of who David killed that made the women sing in that manner. Goliath worth ten thousands of the Philistines! That's why when he died and it was verified so by his soldiers, they fled. He was their salvation - in whom they put their trust.

We're on the matter of not exchanging one's honour for stubble like Barak did. God called him to go war against Sisera with a mandate and an assurance of victory but he refused and demanded that Deborah (a woman, whose jurisdiction and specialization isn't warfare as deemed fit by heaven who did the selection) go with him. Deborah was not reluctant to put a proposal on the table that then, the honour would be women's. So it was. Jael, a woman was the one who killed Sisera and in that manner, the men or Barak couldn't have the honour of killing the general unto themselves yet it is the general that matters. I don't care if you kill a million soldiers. We're all on the outlook for who puts the commander to rest. That's the shepherd. Strike him and see the sheep scatter.  Rather, Jael was sung as the one who really won the victory. I'm I making sense at all? Today's teaching is to show you that what any leader protects is the honour. Look at Saul. Though he was reluctant and scared fighting Goliath yet he never played with the honour when the women sung David for having conquered to the uttermost and won the real victory for them. He was discontented. Every man at the home setting without necessarily becoming jealous or envious of their wives must in this way seek to better them. Let's ask ourselves. Indeed, who should ten of thousands be accounted to? It should be Saul. Though it wasn't accounted to him yet he saw the need and regarded it as a violation (anyway he didn't do the job). He said "what else could David not have, to even the Kingdom?". He understood the kingdom is next after such acclamation. That's the zeal that didn't consume Barak when making that deal. He sold the trophy to the female's clique and wasn't troubled. No generation of males would read what he did that would pray for him because he reduced the honour of the office of men.  Wherever you are, seek to win the honour. If God has called you to do it, don't delegate it. He who calls you is always faithful, who also will do it.

PRAYER: Lord, let me be filled with zeal and jealousy to possess what is mine. When others are giving hard work to possess a reward for themselves, may I not be a spectator.

OUR INTERVIEW WITH A FEMALE IN TROUSERS - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 005

Judges 4:9, KJV

"And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh."

The interview that we had with the once upon Judge, Prophetess of Israel and wife of Sir Lapidoth actually reveals some interesting facts. Under the teaching anointing today, we shall present all to you.

When Sir Barak foolishly, unwittingly, cowardly ensued the partnering of Mrs Deborah in the battle, Mrs Deborah knew this was outside it. She was shocked herself. According to our newsmen, they said, "she was jostled, taken aback and fearfully worried at what manhood has become." For a minute, she watched Barak with mouth agape wondering at his disbelief in God and belief in mere mortal.

According to what our newsmen gathered, they said, Mrs Deborah had wanted to refuse this offer before but for some reasons. They said the reasons were not  spurred by selfishness as some men have accused her of. They said, one, to encourage Barak. It seems he needed a helpmeet or an encourager and who best does that but a female and a wife. Two, she was forced to go on that journey because if she refuses, Barak would believe less or not at all in that prophecy. He'll call it a scam and accuse Deborah of wanting to send him to his untimely death. These were all the reasons that Mrs Deborah gave as to what prompted her into accepting the offer of going to war with Barak. Our newsmen said, accepting to go was no evil but what about snatching the trophy meant for him or the males? Why would she do that? She stammered and had nothing much to say except that, "would God not have compensated her if such was given her?" This still seems invalid to us because we wonder why she who proclaims herself a wife at home won't seek the greatness of men since she has someone over her at home. Should we say Mrs Deborah Lapidoth has been lording it over Sir Lapidoth at home and same is now happening with Barak? She was accused of not helping men to become proper men they should be. If Barak didn't know how to be one, couldn't she open to him the consequences of not doing the job outrightly. Note it, don't take another man's honour, trophy or reward. Exercise all fairness and let your righteousness exceed that of the Pharisees and Sadducees so you don't wake to live with guilt when you're confronted or at your receiving understanding personally. We should not become Jacobs who are opportunists and capitalized on the disadvantages of others. Wealth gotten by such means is ill and it's very much unsatisfactory. It makes you enemies also as you make the other person appear as a fool.

PRAYER: Lord, my righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees and Seduces.

THE HONOUR URGES ON - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 004

Read Judges 5

Hebrews 12:2, KJV

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

It is the honour that you have to concentrate on. Yes, focus on the profit or the reward. The task may be hard but the honour or reward is the encouragement thereof. This is what Barak should have remembered before soliciting for an assistance that took the honour off his hands. When Deborah and Barak were bargaining ad setting whose the trophy or the honour would be, if Barak had asked Deborah to explain what the honour meant or describe how the honour would be to him, probably he wouldn't have let the honour go to the female club. Though Deborah was apparent in her saying by not using any dark saying to keep in oblivion what she intended but it still seems Barak lack understanding of intensity, weight and repercussion of the matter. It was a disgrace to the male cult or clique.  Even God didn't set it so for the females to have the honour here. He didn't intend the honour should be for the females until new terms were set by the two. This is how many men put themselves in trouble when it comes to having sex. They'll be swearing to do this or that for the woman because of sex. They'll promise great things that a wise woman may tell them to give an oath to back up. So, they'll become a debtor. When reality now stares, they'll begin to say but it was a joke. Did heaven not sign this one? Why will heaven not agree with the one you'll give her? Did women not carry Sisera's head? Was heaven not watching the folly of men on earth when Barak agreed the women have the honour because of cowardice?

It was written of Jesus that He endured the death of the cross because of the joy in front. He knew the joy in front and then he understood what it meant. Many know it also but they don't understand it until they lose it. Consider Esau. He knew what birthright meant but he didn't know its gravity. If he knew, he won't bargain cheaply or enter into such scamming and cloudy deal with Jacob. To prove he didn't know what it meant having the birthright, you'll see he wept having it back but to no avail (Hebrews 12:16-17). That time he was weeping, he had discovered what the birthright meant. What sort of deal is that one? It is not different from what one African country by the name Malawi did by signing a mining deal with an Australian mining company that's projected to earn $900,000,000 in fifteen years. Over the same period, Malawi itself would be paid the royalty of $45,000,000. Yet, Malawi government didn't see it as a bad deal. That's evil. Come to your senses if you've been taken for a fool in this way.

Is there any who any female first of all is exercising evil dominion through witchcraft over, I break that power. God didn't create females to lord it over males especially in the home setting. The man is the man, the husband is the husband. So, wherever you're been enslaved and your head has become the tail, I recover you. It ought not to be Ahab that would be crying while Jezebel does the comforting (the work of a husband) I Kings 21:5-8. I stop all witchcraft processes. I break its sword and rod. I reverse and reorder life for all males who have given or giving the Barak's (male's honour) to a Deborah. I restore your years and time in newness. Henceforth, the weight and gravity of matters that you may take for granted shall hit you and such will surge you up. To any person also under tyranny or witchcraft of any, come to your senses, awake and risen from the slumber of selling yourself out in perpetual slavery.

PRAYER: Let the gravity and consequences of events dawn on me. May I see beyond what appears. I see the joy in front and comprehend what it means fully. I end perpetual slavery in Africa.

WHAT SORT OF DEAL IS THIS? - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 003

Judges 4:8-9, KJV

"8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. 9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh."

God said, "Barak will go to war and lead the battle". Barak says, "Deborah must go and take her position even when God is not offering her any position as a warrior or war lord." Was God stupid for calling a man to that office of warrior and soldier? Could he not have chosen Deborah? That she's a Judge who discerns matters for people doesn't make her a warrior and leader of an all male's task that God has not even given. God recognizes specialization and individual's limitation. However, as we all know, what was not so from the beginning (as God instructed) was made so by what Barak insisted on. Look at how much Barak sees Deborah as Almighty. He was speaking with frankness of not going as if God was not enough for him. By so doing, he sold himself and his honour out. He changed God's move and handed the trophy to the women's clique.

There's no man that would hear of the deal Barak made with his mouth here that won't say, "what sort of deal is this? By the time all the warriors of Barak get to link the killing of Sisera to the prophecy and deal made, they'll live to disdain Barak. Why? He bargained so low. He bargained so cheaply. He needed assurance and he relied on a human for it who won't give one without a demand. God acknowledges that. If you labour, you must reap the reward. It is those that don't work that are told not to eat or reap the benefit of labouring.

Deborah said, "God has spoken. The God of hosts has said you'll lead the army". Uncle said, "Sister, unless you partner with me in this task, I can't do it alone". It sounded innocent but this is how demands that one's generation may live to regret do crawl in. This is how some sportsmen do sign themselves off to a wrong deal. This is how people do dig a well of future regret for themselves. They don't know that a foothold you give to Satan is an opportunity he always maximises well. Am I calling Deborah or women Satan? No! Do get my analogy. Deborah didn't slack. The devil also don't slack. The Bible says he prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. A thing that "seeks" what to eat is already and always at alert.

Deborah! Deborah who understood spiritual things. She knew a task like this is always followed by a honour. Do you know what she went for? The jugular. The island in the waters. She said, "I agree but the reward or honour is not going to be yours. It is going to be ours." Who are the "ours?" All females, girls, women, mothers in the generation of Deborah and those to come. Till tomorrow, any female given birth to will share in this honour. Whether you like it or not, that's what Deborah's sensitivity, care, courage and responsibility bought for them. However, all males were robbed of that. It was collected from the males here and given to the females and God consented. But don't make mistake that God for once intended or planned that it would be a female that would stamp the head of Sisera. No! He gave the honour to a male (even if it won't be Sisera) who would achieve it but Sisera didn't understand how to deal well on the business table. He didn't understand the offer given him and what great honour it would bring him. Please, don't let anything make you to bargain less at the bargaining table. Also, don't let anything force you to succumb to wrong bargaining. Do you know what I was expecting Barak to do when Deborah presented that offer? What offer? "The honour won't be to men." He should say, "Noo. We have to be the one to carry the head of Sisera." He should shame her with the fact that though she's a prophet and a judge yet she has a husband at home. A husband who lays on her. One who stays on top. One who she answers sir to and to whom her desire is unto. Immediately, she'll set another price. She'll be forced by shame into it. Today, are you in business or whatever? God is giving you the mouth of Deborah that no one can refuse. What you set is what they'll agree on. You'll always win contract. Meanwhile, take cognizance not to lose what you already have like Barak by being tempered and giving consideration to the reward and honour of the deal. Be a man of careful meditation and not emotion.

PRAYER: Lord, I refuse to exchange gold for brass. I'll not let go of my good rewards. I'll not bargain or demand of life lesser than You gave me.

DON'T SELL IT OUT - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 002

Read Judges 4

Judges 4:8, KJV

"And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go".

This statement shows the male man as incapable, shivering and needing assurance here. Don't you ever think it was a blessing to him. It was not because it devalued him and transferred his honour and reward to the women. While this teaching is not revealing or calling females inferior yet we all know that women themselves agree without qualms that men should take the lead while they submit to them. Here, it was reversed.

God had a work to do. He voiced it out through Deborah, the prophetess and gave it to Barak. What a privilege to be sighted by the Almighty Who has so many people badgering Him for their allocation and assignment. This precious opportunity that some are dying to receive from glory on high however was rejected by Barak. You don't mean it! Tell me something please. He said, "I'm not contending God called me. No problem Prophetess Debby. You know what? I won't move an inch unless the vessel giving this prophecy and I go together". Come and see trouble and mourning in heaven that day. All angels turned to God and said, "Sir, are you seeing that unserious brother?" God said, "very well." Deborah looked at him again and wondered if he meant it. The sternness of not yielding, not agreeing on Barak's face must have served as enough message to her. With that observation, she didn't fight to change his mind that, "but you were the one God gave charge of this assignment." She didn't at all. Deborah who understood how things work with God; who knew that in all labour, there's profit; that it's what you sow you'll reap and that God is not unjust as to forget our labour of love in that we have ministered in His vineyard then quickly grab the opportunity. Do you want me show you how she accepted the offer?

Judges 4:9, KJV

"And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh".

This agreement is not different from the exchange of gold for brass. My Jesus! It is like exchanging glory for glamour. Why would Barak be contented submitting victory to the women clique? However, Deborah agreed to it at bargaining time to collect the reward and honour for womanhood and females). Somebody sold it out and somebody collected it!

Let us teach our males, our boys, our men and our fathers not to compromise their stand. I'm not driving at competition here but if God visits somebody with an assignment and he says, "I'm not interested or not enough for it", God will be forced to make a rearrangement. The same thing happened to Sir Moses. God didn't ordain Aaron would be his mouth (Exodus 4:10-16). Why do people love to carry unnecessary luggage that God has not brought them? Enh? Don't force the hands of God into slashing your rewards. Don't set another standard. If you however will say "no" as the first God visited with the assignment, then God will take that same assignment and its honour and give it to your neighbour. So, let all irrespective of gender seek not to be passed by either by rejecting the assignment wholly or seeking to share it with others when God hasn't make provision for one. Don't pass it over or sell it out. God set that the honour of that assignment would be Barak's or men's but when he reset the terms of the assignment himself, a woman had to carry the trophy. If not, probably Sisera wouldn't need run to seek asylum let alone being killed by Jael. Please, don't give yourself a jungle to clear when the Lord is only allotting a clean passage. Don't hand it over. Do the assignment wholly. Stop unnecessary, unwitty job delegation and partnership which the Lord didn't plan for you.

PRAYER: Lord, may I not reject You and Your offer. Those who reject your offer or resets its condition can't but lose or miss something.

THE JOURNEY WITHOUT HONOUR - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 001

Read Judges 4

Judges 4:9, KJV

"And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh".

Do you want to know what I heard which led to this teaching? "The journey without honour!" Just then, a voice responded in me, "may we not go on one". May I ask, "do you want to embark on a journey without honour?" A journey without honour is akin to a vainless labour. The kind of labour that returns no profit.

By the inspiration of the Lord, Deborah, a woman with a calling on her head called Barak and told him of the need to go war against Sisera. She delivered God's message. "And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand (Judges 4:7, KJV). This is enough assurance for any who has ears to hear. God Almighty said he would deliver Sisera into Barak's hands. However, he isn't satisfied. He's doubtful, scared and unsure. Do you know what he did next? He refused to agree. He refuted Deborah and point blank and bluntly tells her he won't move an inch except Deborah goes to battle with him. It is good to test realities and test the veracity of God's spoken word but this brother Sisera is actually reducing the honour of his office doing this. He's degrading himself as a male and then the leading warrior. He's proving to be incapable. You'll see.  At war, the living God, ever faithful kept to His promise and discomfited the Sisera's army before Barak's. They chased and ruined them with the edge of the sword. It was such a very easy battle for the Israelites because God helped them from heaven above (by releasing angelic assistance) and earth beneath (by allowing that ancient river, Kishon to sweep Sisera's soldiers away). In this way, Israel won and Sisera on seeing how the battle has turned contrary flee on his feet. Wait o, he fled? Yes, he did. This fleeing is to fulfill prophecy. Where did he flee to? To Jael, the wife of Heber with whom Jabin, Sisera's Lord have pact. That's wisdom right? You don't seek asylum in the camp of your enemy. You do with whom you have pact to watch each other's back. However, when God has declared that the journey Barak is embarking on with the accompaniment of a woman (Deborah) who shouldn't be dragged into the matter at all will be without honour for him, then prophecy must be fulfilled even under the strictest and harshest or contradictory measures. Prophecy is like a bulldozer. Once it is issued like this. It becomes a force that consumes all hindrances on its path in order to deliver and find rest. The Lord watches over His words to perform them. Let me ask you. Should it be Jael, the wife of Heber with whom Jabin has pact that would kill (betray) Sisera? Who should lie and seek to cover Sisera completely if not she? However, since the release of prophecy, it has gone out contending for realization.

At the arrival of Sisera at Jael's lodge, he was accepted, relieved with milk and treated lordly. It was not long Jael drives a tent peg into his head. Behold the fulfilment of prophecy that the honour would be to a woman.

Let me warn you as the Spirit is urging me to do. Those of you God has given assignments to who's calling others to go on the journey with you when they've not being assigned are only trying to reduce, share or eradicate what honour God could have used you only to cause. Your reason is loneliness, fear, doubt and failure and so you seek a companion. Don't you know that if you call those God has not called or given you, they'll seek payment. That's why Deborah said, "the payment is that the main man (that you should kill) won't be sold into your hand but into the hands of a woman". We women (of whom I'm part) shall carry the trophy and so it happened.

How many of you wants to accept this kind of deal in business? Do you want to miss the real offer? Killing ten thousand soldiers isn't a matter as being the one that carries the head of Sisera. So, be warned and don't bring yourself under conditions that God initially freed you from in all His wisdom. I pray that the honour of the journey will be yours. None will share it with you. The glory is the Lord's but the honour is always men's. There's no assignment without honour but that of Barak whenever it's recounted, there would always be a pointing to the fact that it was a woman who did the job (thereby humiliating him and all the male soldiers taken to battle). It would have been better not going at all. So, be warned.

PRAYER: Lord, may I not bring myself under a lesser treat that I'll regret. I'm courageous, strong and up to the task. Here I am, anoint me.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

THE HEART THAT GOES WITH YOU

READ II Kings 5:1-27

II Kings 5:26, KJV

"And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?"

Where can we go from the presence of God? Psalm 139 is a psalm of discovery that shows our not being able to escape from the Lord.

Psalms 139:2-3, KJV

"2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways".

God is the one that compasses your path. He is the God that surrounds you. In today's passage, Gehazi runs after Naaman to demand of him things that his master, Elisha had rejected after Naaman was healed of leprosy. After his arrival back to the master, Elisha requested of him where he was coming from. He lied and said " thy servant went no whither (II Kings 5:25, KJV).

Elisha then replied, "went not mine heart with thee when the man alight from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to collect this and that?" The following consequence is that Gehazi is cursed and he carries the leprosy of Naaman.

You should know that God's eyes follows you all-around. There is nothing done in secret that won't be made manifest is what the Bible says. As a child of light therefore, let your deeds be wrought in God so that you won't fear being exposed. If you have good deeds, you'll want to manifest it in light/public but if your deeds are evil, you'll want darkness to cover you.  Secret sins and abominable deeds are really irritants to the Lord. You shouldn't indulge in any because God's heart and eyes would always go with you. Your conscience would bear you witness and call you to questions and order.

There's no time like any other to stop secret sins and come to repentance also than now. It is God before whom we all have to do. Fear Him as one that knows all, sees all and surrounds you about. Decide today not to carry any consequence resulting from secret sins like that of Gehazi. When your ways are straight, you purchase for yourself clear conscience before men and God. Gehazi though lied he goes no where that day knew deep down that his conscience bears him witness. As he denies his master, his heart tells him, "you lie". Your first judge as you go is your heart. So, pay attention.
