DON'T BE IGNORANT OF THE DEVIL'S DEVICES - Life More Abundantly Series 004
I Kings 3:19-20, KJV
"19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it. 20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom."
When you are asleep, you will be ignorant of the devil's devices but when you are awake and aware spiritually and at times physically, you will be able to apprehend the devil at his work. You have heard of robbers and perpetrators of evil who were apprehended in the act. Such happened because some people were aware of their devices and moves. Such easily occurs because certain people have gathered intel on them and are now working with those. So, they can't but be caught in the act.
Listen to this woman who brought a complaint before King Solomon. She said, "And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom."
That was a transaction but one that became possible because the other had been knocked off, thinking that night would be like other nights. May you be aware of what the devil has cooked and is about to act on in your life. Only then can you stand at the gate and watch. That's when you can fulfill this scripture that says, "But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up" (Matthew 24:43, KJV).
This woman began suffering and had to go to the Appeal Court because she lacked intel and was not in the know on the plan of the devil that night. If she had received a nudge, an inner witness, burden, a pressing or a troubling of the heart to begin to look for what was not lost till midnight, she could have frustrated that plan.
Has it happened to you before - when you just begin to experience restlessness? It means something is amiss. Either something has happened, is about happening or will happen and your prayers could be a deciding factor in it. When you're that restless, it's God trying to have your attention if you'll correctly interpret that event in your spirit. If you cannot tie the event to a particular thing, turn it into prayer and trust to be given prayer points through prophetic prayer by the Holy Spirit on what is going on. A lot of things have been slated in the spirit. May those that'll awkwardly affect us not be slated successfully over us. May we be awake, aware and captain over those situations that we need to arrest, change and enforce God's will on.
So, like this woman acknowledged, the thievery happened at night when she was unconscious. She must have slept so deeply that her baby was collected from her side and another put there yet without detection. May you not be unconscious when the devil is consciously at work. May you not be ignorant of the enemy's devices.
II Corinthians 2:11, KJV
"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."
You can't but be in that state if all the spiritual exercises that could lead you to retaining sensitivity or having inflows of communication from the Spirit have been eroded. If you no longer study the Bible, pray, fast, distance from unholiness that could dull your hearing, things will happen without your notice. Only a man of God's presence is in the know. God speaking says, "17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?" (Genesis 18:17-18, KJV). But beyond that reason, Abraham was able to hear, know God's mind and converse - even bargain with God because he is a man of God's presence. The Bible says, "And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD (Genesis 18:22, KJV ).
Note, "But Abraham stood yet before the Lord." It means to still be in fellowship with a well established connection so much that you can send things up there and things could be sent down here to you. That made exchanges possible.
Once you become dull, it doesn't mean God isn't speaking to you. Rather, you won't hear. The Bible says, "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not" (Job 33:14, KJV).
The unfortunate part of the story will be that God is speaking but you won't have the conviction to believe or hold it as truth. So, you will despise it. At such a time, a ready meat is provided for the devil. I pray for you, may you not be such a victim of the devil. May God rather hasten for your salvation which you will take when He speaks to you. As you go this morning, you are aware of the devil's tricks, stealth, camouflage, diversionary attacks and every devices.
PRAYER: I am not dull of hearing. I know and I perceive. I am in the know of events over my life. None catches me unaware or while sleeping. While the enemy brings tares to sow, I am awake to stop his work.
