MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
BEWARE OF THIS TYPE OF THIEF - Life More Abundantly Series 005
"19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom."
I want to show you two types of thieves. So far, we've seen the covert operations of the devil exposed. Meanwhile, he does excellently well at one thing also that you should know so that he doesn't afflict you.
First, we've seen the devil as a thief who comes in by stealth to steal something. He steals and takes away. What he stole is not given a replacement. However, there's a thief who comes in, steals an artefact, antique or precious thing and then replaces it with a fake substitute to hide the fact that the genuine had gone.
That second thief is a master thief and this reveals the extra-careful work of the devil. Our arch enemy works in that manner in the lives of people also. Looking at the incident in I Kings 3:19-20, that's exactly what happened. That thief of a woman not only came to steal, she replaced what she stole. She stole the living child and replaced it with the dead. Why would anyone do that? It's to keep the pretense or act going on for long without conscious detection or a fling of a thought that anything had happened. That's why we should salute this woman that she detected she had been stolen from. She wouldn't have come to any detection if not for careful observation and the help of the morning light.
She said, "And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear" (I Kings 3:21, KJV).
Mark this, "But when I had considered it in the morning."
Just don't be someone who agrees with the result published for you. Probe it, argue it especially when you have something to compare that result with. That's what this woman does. She had learnt the features of her real child well. So, she could distinctively refute that this dead one is not hers. The morning light only helped her to expose what she knew at heart.
There are those that the devil has stolen from but also didn't leave their lives empty. He could steal A from their lives and put B back so as to distract them from ever noticing their incompletion. Many have welcomed and celebrated the devil's gifts as God's but God sure knows that this wasn't from Him. The devil is one who casts out devils with devils and when he helps you solve a problem, he'll give you another problem in another area. He does that by solving one and creating another so you could be tied to him and so you could come back for the new problem to be cured since he already created in you a belief that he could meet your needs. This is the devil. The operation of the devil in this manner is very clear in the occult but popularly disguised in some churches and denominations where they bathe people by flowing waters, prepare certain rituals of candles, coconuts, perfume etc for people while practicing the flogging out of the devil out of the possessed. In such a circle, what they do is to chase out the devil with a superior devil. While you may have present victory in what you have gone for, you can't but pay by having future problems in another area. Things happen this way to disguise the ongoing activities of hell in your life.
Come to light now. Have any of you been a victim of such? Have you been bathed by a so-called prophet? Do you have covenants and incisions on your body which you haven't renounced or broken? Say, "Here I am Jesus. I renounce the devil in my life and his works." Mention that specific act you did even if it was to bathe with blood and say, "I cancel its effectiveness in my life with the blood of Jesus." And so shall it be.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: If you're not born again, speak to God saying, "I acknowledge my sins and receive you into my life." For others, receive the declarations earlier made.
