LIGHTENING THE OTHERS

John 1:9, KJV

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."

There are two types of people that are usually lightened. One are the ignorant. He doesn't know he has a call nor has he found it out. By the time he comes close to an anointing carrying the call, as that anointing teaches and digs, he could come to a realization that his time on earth is not ordinary and that God has a purpose for him too. Many people's callings are buried under prejudice, wrong doctrine, false beliefs and the education they might have received etc. Until God digs with teachings to convict them and enlighten them to realization, they'll not change their ways of life nor ask, "Lord, what would you have me to do?"

However, there's another category. This category of people are more of a debtor than the first. These ones know their calls. Some might have even found it and have started living it out. Meanwhile, they're part of the careless, distracted or the called who went into sin. Some of them could even have backslided or stopped doing their callings altogether. These kinds of people might have tasted God's power but right now, deny it. They might have once operated in the anointing or see for themselves what the calling and its instrumentality could do. However, they relaxed or fell away. To lighten them, God can raise a calling like their own to stir them to the realization of the path they stopped walking in. Also, God could anoint someone just beside them - a neighbor, like He raised David (lesser in rank) to replace Saul (the king). At times, it may be someone that's younger than they are or a vessel that when considered would make them really stirred to envy and consequently repentance. At times, if they are just redundant, God can highlight another calling that's running God's will to them. It could be one being done by a set mate of theirs who doesn't have their qualifications. What God wants to achieve by this overall act is to bring them out of their despondency so that their callings could be reignited.

God has used me and my ministry to do both ministries in people's lives. There are a lot of people - very older people who have neglected their callings until they encountered my teachings. By the time I began to dig into the issues of the calling and that life is more than meat and clothing, they were woken up to their callings. This includes those who have backslidden. You see, teachings on callings summarily do come in a way that it'll make wasters of time, doubters, ignorers or sinful men come to hold their mouths, realize how much they have lost and be reignited to do the calling.

Whenever God uses you even this way to lighten the people, then you are a light that lightens men. Your calling will not affect every human being but it'll affect men of your calling - those God has assigned specifically to your calling. You become a light lightening other men when by your way of life and teachings, others come to the realization of truth on how they should have lived and how seriously it should have been. If you're a Christian sinner and you have failed to repent even after many persuasions of the Holy Spirit, what the Lord would do is to put a very pure/holy life by your side to convict you. You will not only be convicted but be ashamed that you disappointed God and have tarried in such a position till then. All that will be to call you to repent.

I hope you're not in these categories. If you are, let today be your last day in sin, carelessness or distraction. Any day you live without doing your calling is a day wasted. Stiff wastage and start living purposefully.

PRAYER: Lord, waken the dead; arouse the sleeper.

THE LIGHT THAT LIGHTENS ALL MEN

John 1:9, KJV

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."

You know, there's a candle that lightens other candles. May you be the giver of light, inspiration and soulful encouragement when others are down. All of us will have diverse responsibilities but the onesimus is on some to not only be responsible for themselves but to ensure the prosperity and continuity of other people. That's why we have something like the container call. A container call carries or harbours the callings of others. Someone with that kind of calling could start something that others will find their callings, voices, bearings and purposes through. He's therefore the container call because in his call is the calls of other men alike. If he doesn't heed his call, it may hinder others from entering into theirs let alone doing it.

So, there are men who are lighters of other men. I author a daily devotional and minister as an itinerant minister, it won't be arrogance to say I'm such a type of man. From my daily teaching, a lot of people - even those with their own specific calls have been spoken to. Down the line, I found out, I have an unusual grace to speak to ministers or groom them. Even from the beginning of my ministry, it has been one of the manifestations of my ministry. I've had several ministries and ministers come out of my own calling. A lot have been called and inspired to start ministry like my own, coming to the identification of what the Lord would have them do. As a matter of fact, when some began, they had no other pattern or model. Everything they did was like unto my ministry. They taught what I taught and used my materials. While they're more free now yet my ministration still lightens them. My teachings and the ministry God has given to me touches them to the core and arms them with truth and all ministrations they need for their own callings and the discharge of their ministries.

That's a light that lightens men - such as God has given to him. When that place says Jesus was the true light that lightens every man that comes into the world, it actually has a number of meanings. We know light counteracts darkness. Darkness could be ignorance or even death - a state of both spiritual and physical deaths. Jesus being the light brings illumination to the human spirit/soul. There's no human with no iota of moral consciousness in him even if he is not born again. Every human has conscience - which is God's compass to help him self check and identify for himself what is good or bad.  Jesus is the source of divine truth and life. That's another thing that makes Him the true light. The words that He speaks are spirit and life (John 6:63). God's light in Jesus is made available to all men though not all men will accept Him. This doesn't cancel the fact that Jesus is the true light for anyone who wants to be saved or have the joy of salvation in intimacy with the Father.

Jesus is the light that lightens all men would mean He is the sacrifice for sin and you cannot come unto the Father except through him. He is the true light that lightens all men. He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He's the only solution for spiritual awakening and illumination. You can't have it elsewhere and hope to reach Jesus' Father. Salvation is only in Jesus! He is the true light that awakens souls to their spiritual debauchery and deadness.

This way, God is calling us to the container call - of letting people find their callings and voices through us, of shedding light on the paths of people to the discovery of their callings and destinies. There will be those God will allocate to your calling if you do ministry the way it should be. They are those that your way of life and teachings will give light to and lighten to lighten others. May you be a light to lighten the gentiles!

PRAYER/CONFESSION: May I be a light to lighten the gentiles. A light unto the path of any who crosses my path.

YOUR CUP SHOULD NOT ABSCOND YOU - Cups And Graces Series 003

Matthew 26:39, KJV

"And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

I have stood on quoting and requoting this: "Joseph didn't want to go to Egypt but God sent him." That's because his destiny requires that he goes. There will be many things that we don't like or which are uncomfortable to our flesh and the training we are used to that we'll need to abide with for destiny's sake.

Joseph's brothers speaking in guilt to themselves say, "...for we could see the anguish of his soul when he begged us and we would not hear..." (Gen.42:21). Joseph wanted to be freed but even the counsel of God for him was to be delivered up for Egypt. Eventually, he was sold for twenty pieces of silver.

I'm praying for you that you'll fulfill your whole ministry. Sometimes recently, God spoke to me about fulfilling my whole ministry. Let me tell you the verse that He recasted to my mind.

II Timothy 4:5, KJV

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."

He told me, "Make full proof of your ministry." To make full proof of one's ministry means to do everything allocated to one's calling. It means to fill up to its entirety the circle for which calling and God's gifts were given one. It means to eat the meat of He that sent one and to finish it.

Paul once said he had finished his course (II Tim.4:7). Jesus also said the same (John 17:4, 19:30). It means one can actually make full proof of his ministry. In making full proof of one's ministry, there's a release and a daily giving to it that has to be done. You have to throw yourself into that work and forget yourself in it. You have to sacrifice your time, effort and your lifetime to service that calling so that you could make full proof of it. Why a lot of people will not make full proof of their ministry to which they are called is because they are not committed.

That's why Paul admonishes somewhere to give diligence to make your calling and election sure (II Peter 1:10). "Sure" there means undebatable - where everybody sees you are established and firm in it. However, you have to move past this level. I have moved past the level where people cast shadows of doubt on my calling. It is now firmly established in everyone's mind who knows Bro. Sola that he is called. However, I'm still on the road to making full proof of my ministry. For that, I have time and the instrumentality of God's calling and the faculties of the office I am called into. Those were given me as spiritual and supernatural things to make full proof of my calling. To fulfill it in its entirety possible that nobody or mouth could gain say that there's a part left undone.

This actually was fulfilled in Jesus. He got to a juncture where He needed to make full proof of His ministry. What would it have profited Jesus if he healed, casted out demons, raised the dead but never makes full proof of his calling by dying to redeem sinful humanity? Everything would have been a waste. His coming would have amounted to nothing. It was that very purpose that was being debated here when under the burden of the sins of the whole world put on him, He groaned.

When you get to the place of fulfilling your calling, you will groan. You will feel a pressing burden. It may push you to yield it up or yield to it. Jesus got there. It was so pressing that He kept making utterances for the assignment or cup to pass over Him. This is where a human's will crosses with the Father's. Thank God, Jesus allows the Father's will to win that He might win also. Without having won the battle over His flesh and surrendering to His cup, humanity wouldn't have been redeemed. Whenever you abscond your cup for any God doesn't plan for you, the beneficiaries of your calling are forlorn and they suffer, missing the ministration you were supposed to give to them. I pray that you will drink your cup and I will drink mine. It's in our drinking our cups that we can fulfill being part of what God is doing on the earth.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to walk every inch of the way. I will not stumble or fall.

BUT GOD SENT JOSEPH - Cups And Graces Series 002

Genesis 45:7, KJV

"And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance."

You see, God will use you but in the way He wants to use you, not the way you desire to be used. God has a purpose for raising men and let your sole aspiration/prayer be, "use me where I fit." You can as a matter of fact disqualify yourself by seeking to be used where you think you are fit. That's how many people have gone on to labour and do vain labour on farmlands God didn't apportion them. That's why God sends people when He calls them. The idea of sending brings to our mind a destination - a specific one.

Let God have His way in your life. Your desires for yourself are not as handsome as God's for you. You cannot care and take thought for yourself the best way God could do. The Psalmist says, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Psalms 8:4, KJV).

That we can even have God's attention or have Him patronize us matters. He has esteemed us as one to share intimacy and fellowship with - one of the best things anyone could ever pray for and be privileged to have/access from God. The Bible speaking further says in Psalms 139:17, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!"

They are just innumerable. In Jeremiah 29:11 also, the Bible says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

So, you cannot design or plan for yourself perfectly the way God will do. Why you shiver and worry is because you haven't found out God's will or don't know how to find it in order to inhabit or live in them. They are the best things ever. You can't find it and not be content with it.

I insist Joseph didn't want to go to Egypt but God sent him. There are many necessities for which God had to send him. We saw one yesterday. That was the immediate reason for which God sent him - in order to save Israel by a great preservation from the famine. The blessing of God that specially came on Egypt in those seven years of plenty was specially given not only for Egypt's sake but because God was planning to accommodate Israel in it.

However, there's another purpose that has been in motion for years even before Joseph's mother ever dreamt of being married let alone giving birth to Joseph. God on a day that doesn't look special communicated and told Abraham of His future will for the nation that later came to be known as Israel when He said, "And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years" (Genesis 15:13, KJV).

This also had to come to pass. As a matter of fact, when God was shifting Joseph to Egypt, this purpose was actively on His mind also. And you'll agree with me that the whole of Israel landed in Egypt in disguise because that purpose/promise was also to come to pass.

Israel came to Egypt and dwelt there through Joseph's influence but we all know that things changed after his death.

Exodus 1:8, KJV

"Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph."

It was at this point that the predicted slavery was to start. After the death of Joseph and that generation in Egypt, another king arose. However, what began to fulfill from this point wouldn't have commenced at all if the Israelites as we know them never came to Egypt at all. In bringing them to Egypt, it doesn't look as if it was also to fulfill this promise of God to Abraham but it sure is. That age long promise that has been travelling down has to be fulfilled. As a matter of fact, Joseph himself knew this while dying which is why he instructed his brethren and reminded them of the total fulfilment of this promise when he says.

Genesis 50:24-26, KJV

"24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt."

As a matter of fact, Joseph though dead yearned to see the promised land. He yearned to be totally part of that promise which made him put them under oath to move his bones at exodus. A thing that Moses did (Exo. 13:19).

May we be this aware of God's promise, purpose and intention. May we not be "For Food Only" (FFO). Rather, may we live by the words of God's mouth which comes as daily instructions, promises or prophecies to us (Matt. 4:4). May we be men of destiny, prophetic in our ways and believing there's an end in God's mind for us.

PRAYER: My path and steps are designed by God's spoken instruction. I fulfill age long promises and prophecies on me.

THE CUP YOU MUST DRINK - Cups And Graces Series 001

Genesis 42:21, KJV

"And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us."

Joseph didn't want to go to Egypt but God sent him. How did I know that? Read our verse for the day again. The Bible says, "...in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear..."

Do you know who besought - begged, yet they would not hear? It was Joseph. At this point in time, repercussions have caught up with Joseph's brothers or let us say, so they felt. Why did I choose to go with the latter? That's because Joseph was only being dramatic with what he was doing to them. He only needed to do that to test them and not because he really wanted to hurt them. He already discerned them as his brothers and though they sold him into slavery, he had no resentment against them.

When they came to Egypt to buy grain for the family because the famine was also in Canaan, they came face to face with Joseph who accused them of being spies. They spoke true and defended themselves, even to give an account of their family life, telling their former and current number after one (in Joseph) was no more. It was at this time he remembered his dreams that he had at age seventeen which his brothers refuted as they now bow to him. So, he began the drama, both to test them if they had repented and to source vital information from them.

Refusing to clear them of being spies, they were jailed for three days. On the third day, Joseph felt for them and released them on the conditions that Simeon would be kept in ward while Benjamin is brought to Egypt to prove and redeem their words as they have said of their last born.

It was at this instance they all remembered their wickedness to Joseph, lifted up their gazes and condemned themselves by saying to one another, "...we are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us."

In essence, Joseph begged for his life that day. He didn't want to be sold into slavery. Nothing in him wanted to sail. He thought he would be lost and that it could be the end of his life. The words "anguish of soul" reveal how much Joseph cried, resisted and fought his being sold into slavery as he was being drawn out of the well that day. You could see the "anguish of his soul" on his face. He was afraid and deadened to happiness. All he wanted was to go home. He would have preferred to be warned not to make them look inferior again than being sold into slavery. If they had asked for his clothe of many colours to be jettisoned, he would have traded it for his life. However, he had to go into the future of Israel. He had to be sold.

As a matter of fact, God so much supervised his going that when Reuben, their eldest brother sought to deliver him from the hands of the other brothers in order to deliver him back to their father, God frustrated that process. Reuben began by saying this.

Genesis 37:22, KJV

"And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again."

Before he came back to the well however, the lad had gone. Reuben lamented this way.

Genesis 37:30, KJV

"And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?"

You see, he was asking where he would go being the first born who has the utmost responsibility of accounting for all of them and presenting Joseph back to the father - Jacob. When it is God's will for you to go, you can't be retained here. You may not understand all the workings. Joseph didn't as we saw he didn't want to go genuinely. He thought all that was to life is his father's house and the little endearments of gifts he enjoyed. He never knew there was a planned life beyond Canaan for him. That life is in Egypt - a place he would never have chosen to go voluntarily. Meanwhile, God orchestrated it by providence and made situations so much work for him that he was not killed nor his blood concealed when it could have been done (Gen. 37:22, 26-27). Rather, he travelled.

We know Joseph had to drink this cup of soulish anguish and momentary trouble which lasted for thirteen years of his life as he himself reveals the mind of God on why he came ahead of them to Egypt.

"Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life" (Genesis 45:5, 7-8).

He told them, "You didn't send me here but God did in order to preserve many people alive."

Brethren, you will drink your cup. As long as it is your cup, it'll be bearable for you to drink and that's because there's an assigned grace and endurance that goes with each person's specific designed cup. That's why you must not run another man's race. That's why you must face your journey and ensure you only play out your script. If you don't but switch cups with a friend, you'll end up being deficient because you won't have the graces and enablement for the cup that was not initially made for you. As a matter of fact, go and make it a prayer that you will drink your cup and your cup only.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, I'm submitted to Your will and Your will only in order to fulfill my destiny, assignment/ministry and drink my own cup.

WARNING TO THOSE GROOMING THE FIRE OF LUST - Control Lust Series 004

I Kings 21:2, KJV

" And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money."

The Bible says, "Naboth has a vineyard near Ahab's palace" (V.1). That was before verse 2 where Ahab goes to ask for the vineyard because he has the vision/plan of making it a vegetable garden. First of all, I'm praying for you that you won't meet the likes of Ahab in life. They are those who reduce a vineyard to a vegetable garden. They reduce something of greater worth to nothingness just for their pleasure and consumerism culture. What is a vegetable garden to a vineyard? Which will be priced higher? May we know our value and worth so that we can reject what patronizes us and seeks to exchange value with worthlessness.

I want you to see something in the speech of Ahab to Naboth. Ahab confesses without shame that his plan is to make the vineyard a vegetable garden after it might have been sold to him or exchanged for another. It means before Ahab comes out to tell Naboth this, he had mused and thought of how best and in what capacity that piece of land would serve. As a matter of fact, he had already imagined vegetables growing there for his own household's use. He has imagined different types of vegetables even from oriental lands being planted there. He could smell the aroma of the vegetable coming from the royal kitchen and filling his stomach. For short, he had finished every plan on paper before coming to meet Naboth for that farmland.

And do you know what, he never foresees rejection. Being the king, he could have believed that the farm would even be turned to him in obeisance and at no price. However, he received the shock of his life when that one tells him it is an inheritance he is not willing to part away.

This is how responsible and preservative of godly heritage we should be. It is that shocker or rejection that turns the eyes of Ahab sour. Before the death of Naboth was ever planned, what would not allow both Ahab and Jezebel rest until they have the farmland is lust - insistence to have something even if it compromises moral standards. Lust always pushes people to neglect moral codes or conducts. Rather, it makes them selfish - only seeing their needs and how they'll be benefited.

It is lust that pushed for the panel of elders and the false witnesses that were leveled unjustly at Naboth. All those actions fulfill another scripture that says.

James 4:1-2, KJV

"1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."

What these verses say are true of what Ahab and Jezebel did to Naboth in order to dispossess him of his possession, therefore taking it over. Those two verses expose what causes quarrels and fights among people (as it was with Ahab and Naboth). Such comes from the evil desires at war within the individual. "You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them."

Those are the exact similar road that Ahab and Jezebel walked to collect for themselves what they seriously lusted after. The lust was so strong in Ahab that when he was rejected, he turned down food with a swollen face. As in, Ahab acted like a baby that needed consolation. Indeed, he was not consoled until Jezebel, the 'husband' in skirt assures him of getting the vineyard for him.

Brethren, your evil desire or lust can lead you to scheme and kill. It could get to that extent if you groom or grow those evil or carnal desires in you. This is a warning not to go the path of Ahab and Jezebel because those who do will have their outcome (I Kings 21:19-24).

PRAYER: Lord, withhold my feet from running an unprofitable business. May I maintain my stand not to compromise in the face of pressure.

THE BEGINNING OF LUST - Control Lust Series 003

Genesis 39:7, KJV

"And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me."

Lust kickstarts after seeing something enviable - something that you'll like to have for yourself. If it is not admirable, it won't win your attention and once it gets nothing of your attention, you cannot muse on it. What we lose our sleep to are deep longings in our hearts that are admirable. What we day dream about are what we crave that we also haven't possessed. So, we begin to strategize and devise how to acquire them or make them our own. This happens to Potiphar's wife. It began with seeing that Joseph is good looking. It began with the eye that is never satisfied with seeing. An eye that even when it sees can't control itself from brooding on what it had seen - calling herself quit and to discipline.

That place says "she casts her eyes on Joseph..." That means to, "fasten focus on" or "turn attention on." Anyone who casts his eyes on you inevitably wants to make you his or her victim. May God help you escape. Thanks Joseph didn't succumb. He refused the offer to lie down with his boss' wife. This only heightened her lust however. This only led to her mind roaming and brooding over how she'll eventually devour Joseph and have him do twenty one playful tricks with her when he eventually agrees. There are verses that agree with that proposition.

Genesis 39:10, KJV

"And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her."

Did you see what that verse reports? She couldn't stop telling Joseph how she feels. That lust has become inflamed, seeking an expression and outlet. She couldn't survive it. That denial and "no" of Joseph rather heightened her desire and craze to fulfill her lust. This lusting continued until she could no longer hold it any longer. So, it became a matter of confrontation. It became a by force or by fire thing. This is where lust having conceived is ready to deliver. Its delivery is always sin and sin will lead to death. Let's see.

Genesis 39:11-12, KJV

"11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out."

Did you see that? Because lust is active and has conceived and can't but be delivered, the opportunity sure availed itself. Let me tell you this. If you keep lusting or craving for something outside God's confines, you might end up fulfilling it. The reason is because the devil will set you up. You will have an opportune time to do that thing. The Bible says, "And there was none of the men of the house within." So, she finally had an opportune time to sin and birth her lust. To prove that she had been totally consumed, possessed and is now being controlled by that lust, she didn't have any respect nor shame again. She laid hold on Joseph as if he were a tool or her personal property on whom she didn't need consent. The Bible says, "And she caught him by his garment saying, lie with me..."

Ask yourself, what could happen that would lead someone into throwing and forcing herself at the other like a cheap market? She not only did that, she wanted it enforced and carried out that instant. Like leprosy, that lust of adultery has so much consumed her that if Joseph had asked for her husband's treasure chest just for one stand, she would have given it without thinking. Why? Erotic passion of lust as we have here is a long term cultivated fire. She has carried it long enough until it has enough time to eat her deeply up. You can't just quench it that soon. It took time to flame to fire. So also, it'll need time to douse.

Do you know how many days or months she had taken to brood on having Joseph for herself even before mentioning it to him? That lust just didn't hasten to give birth, it matured having been conceived earlier.

Brethren, this is a warning not to start a fire you don't want to eventually burn you. May you understand and come to the position of Job who says, "I have made a covenant with my eyes, how shall I behold a virgin" (Job 31:1).

PRAYER: Lord, terminate every time-bomb of the works of the flesh in my life before terminating and crash landing me.
