BUT GOD SENT JOSEPH - Cups And Graces Series 002
"And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance."
You see, God will use you but in the way He wants to use you, not the way you desire to be used. God has a purpose for raising men and let your sole aspiration/prayer be, "use me where I fit." You can as a matter of fact disqualify yourself by seeking to be used where you think you are fit. That's how many people have gone on to labour and do vain labour on farmlands God didn't apportion them. That's why God sends people when He calls them. The idea of sending brings to our mind a destination - a specific one.
Let God have His way in your life. Your desires for yourself are not as handsome as God's for you. You cannot care and take thought for yourself the best way God could do. The Psalmist says, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Psalms 8:4, KJV).
That we can even have God's attention or have Him patronize us matters. He has esteemed us as one to share intimacy and fellowship with - one of the best things anyone could ever pray for and be privileged to have/access from God. The Bible speaking further says in Psalms 139:17, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!"
They are just innumerable. In Jeremiah 29:11 also, the Bible says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
So, you cannot design or plan for yourself perfectly the way God will do. Why you shiver and worry is because you haven't found out God's will or don't know how to find it in order to inhabit or live in them. They are the best things ever. You can't find it and not be content with it.
I insist Joseph didn't want to go to Egypt but God sent him. There are many necessities for which God had to send him. We saw one yesterday. That was the immediate reason for which God sent him - in order to save Israel by a great preservation from the famine. The blessing of God that specially came on Egypt in those seven years of plenty was specially given not only for Egypt's sake but because God was planning to accommodate Israel in it.
However, there's another purpose that has been in motion for years even before Joseph's mother ever dreamt of being married let alone giving birth to Joseph. God on a day that doesn't look special communicated and told Abraham of His future will for the nation that later came to be known as Israel when He said, "And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years" (Genesis 15:13, KJV).
This also had to come to pass. As a matter of fact, when God was shifting Joseph to Egypt, this purpose was actively on His mind also. And you'll agree with me that the whole of Israel landed in Egypt in disguise because that purpose/promise was also to come to pass.
Israel came to Egypt and dwelt there through Joseph's influence but we all know that things changed after his death.
"Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph."
It was at this point that the predicted slavery was to start. After the death of Joseph and that generation in Egypt, another king arose. However, what began to fulfill from this point wouldn't have commenced at all if the Israelites as we know them never came to Egypt at all. In bringing them to Egypt, it doesn't look as if it was also to fulfill this promise of God to Abraham but it sure is. That age long promise that has been travelling down has to be fulfilled. As a matter of fact, Joseph himself knew this while dying which is why he instructed his brethren and reminded them of the total fulfilment of this promise when he says.
Genesis 50:24-26, KJV
"24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt."
As a matter of fact, Joseph though dead yearned to see the promised land. He yearned to be totally part of that promise which made him put them under oath to move his bones at exodus. A thing that Moses did (Exo. 13:19).
May we be this aware of God's promise, purpose and intention. May we not be "For Food Only" (FFO). Rather, may we live by the words of God's mouth which comes as daily instructions, promises or prophecies to us (Matt. 4:4). May we be men of destiny, prophetic in our ways and believing there's an end in God's mind for us.
PRAYER: My path and steps are designed by God's spoken instruction. I fulfill age long promises and prophecies on me.
