A FULFILMENT: A PEEP INTO SAMSON - One Alone Series 005

Judges 16:20, KJV

"And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him."

As the Holy Spirit was ending yesterday's devotional, He gave us a parting word and I quote, "we must know that except their Rock sells them, one cannot chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to flight" (Deut.32:30).

This verse of the Bible found fulfillment in Samson. He's the one we're seeing and peeping into today.

You remember for years, Samson was elusive for the Philistines. It became for him, "in six troubles, I'll preserve you and in seven, it shall not come near you" (Job 5:19).

God kept him all through. He helped him over snares. Samson was just the 'star boy.' The Philistines wondered at what such of 'spider man' he was. They just couldn't get a hold on him. He was like Pablo Escobar, that Columbian drug Lord and cartel founder who kept escaping and making it until a day came when he was separated from his defense and guards. It was a bullet that took him out as he was making an escape with his last guard on the house roof. And Pablo Escobar, the elusive, star boy, the one who had bribed his way out of every case and to achieve every intent fell.

It was a presumption that killed Samson. If he had known that the Lord had departed from him; he would have packed his shoes or fled out of the house undress (which is minor to being caught) alive. He would have gone into exile and hidden himself somewhere to grow his hair - recover. He never knew that the Lord had departed - the locks have been shaved. The Bible puts it this way, "and he wist not that the Lord had departed from him" (Judges 16:20).

You see! That was his error. If he knew, he wouldn't be that confident. He'll yield the day to the Philistines in victory but save himself from the shame that follows by fleeing instead of boasting and maintaining his confession of old, "I'll shake myself and go out as former times."

When he did, what was his experience? His experience was summarized in one simple clause, "and he wist not that the Lord had departed from him."

The remaining is history! You know what follows. As simple as that may look, it's a chastisement for Samson. You'll reap your carelessness. It shows him his sin and carelessness. But more importantly, it shows the role of God in our lives. Brethren, I tell you, without him, we can do nothing. He's the vine and we are the branches!

PRAYER: Lord, I acknowledge your role in my life, help me to near at all times.

BEING TREATED AS SONS - One Alone Series 005

Psalms 78:9, KJV

"The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle."

What sort of evil and misfortune is this? I thought it's when soldiers are unarmed that they turn back since they'll be nowhere equal to the opponent?

But what is this I read about the Ephraimites? Is it true that one can be armed, carrying bows yet flee from the battlefield even in defeat? It's very very possible.

What you must know is that Deuteronomy 32:30 says, "How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?"

Victory in the physical happens first in the spirit and before it does, the spirit representative of the physical side fighting must either have yielded them up or surrendered them for defeat before they can be defeated. If the edge is not broken, how can an intruder enter in?

The Ephraimites turned back despite being armed for battle because they had sinned before God. For their unfaithfulness, God gave them up for defeat. This situation is well described by the defeat of Israel before Ai. As a matter of fact, Israel less esteems Ai because of their small population and so not all the entire population went to battle (Joshua 7:3-5).

Despite being a smaller entity than Israel and its host in battle, they beat Israel to defeat until they were turned back. Why? Someone had disobeyed God by picking the accursed things God had stipulated should be destroyed and not coveted in the defeat of Jericho (Joshua 7:1). That was Achan. It was that disobedience that opened them to defeat. They themselves wondered how until they found out. They knew strength wise, God wise and army wise, they shouldn't have been beaten.

You must know that the real strength of the Christian man or woman is not in his idea, qualification or whatsoever that symbolizes "arms", "equipping" or "qualification" for what he needs to do that's before him. His greatest asset and arm is God Almighty who can deliver and betray anything into his hands or who when He withdraws when we're in disobedience could cause our suffering of losses.

God is the One who leads us to battle and gives us victory. We can be armed with weapons as needed tools to fight the physical battle, hold the mic to preach a sermon or make a presentation but the one who inclines and convicts hearts is God.

It is this solution and help that was not available for the Ephraimites, who as a leading tribe in Israel could have led a war or disappointed Israel when their skills as fine archers were needed in battle. The Bible says in that same Psalm - just the consequent one.

Psalms 78:10, KJV

"They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law."

That's the cause of their defeat. The verse preceding 9 that we're considering also says, "...a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God" (ESV).

Recall what David told Goliath when Goliath mocked him for appearing simple before him. He cursed him and said, "am I a dog that you come to with a stick? I'll kill you and give your body to the host of the air" (I Samuel 17:43-44) but David responds, "you come out to me with a sword and a spear but I come to you in the name of the Lord God of hosts whom you've defied. Today, I will kill you and feed your body to the host of the air that all these people may know that there's a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not deliver with sword and spear (I Samuel 45-47).

Over and over again in the Bible, we see that the Lord does not save by bow and arrow. It's just a leverage for God to ride on and where they are not or inadequate (as in the case of David), God can still win the day for Himself.

You must therefore write it in your core that except their Rock sells them, one cannot chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to flight. And if there's disobedience which leads to God's withdrawal and the punishment of his people by what the devil could cause, they're being treated as sons who should be disciplined and chastised for proper behavior and adherence to God's will next time. Repentance as we saw in the case of Israel over the accursed things of Jericho will change the day. Disobedience can break your edge and make you like one alone - like a pelican in the wilderness, owl in the desert and sparrow on a housetop. But if you mend this broken fence, God shall be for you.

PRAYER: Open my eyes to any area in my life where I'm living in violation of God's Word or will. I refuse to suffer consequences and be isolated for suffering or punishment.

WERE TOYS IN THE BIBLE FOR KIDS' ASSURANCE AND PLAY?

WERE TOYS IN THE BIBLE FOR KIDS' ASSURANCE AND PLAY?

You're welcome on Morning Wings! We're not only committed to the parents but their wards likewise.

Every parent wants to raise a genius kid. They want to hear they're special and are manifesting so. They want to see them smell gifts and exhume talents. In a previous teaching I made available last year, TOYS: THE GREATEST VIBRANIUM DETECTOR, such things were mentioned and dug up on the importance of toys for your child's education.

Toys can draw out the ingenuity of your kids and lead to the discovery of their passion or their way in life as it impresses itself on their core, stirring them to see a reality that exists even in the look alike they have at hand.

For this reason, necessity is laid on me to answer if toys were mentioned in the Bible. As one parent put it, "I've wanted to know if God was thinking about the joy, fulfillment and dreams of my kids."

So, let me ask afresh, "did toys appear in the Bible?" "Was there a mention or flinty hints, even if it'll be flimsy and not central to the Bible's theme of Christology or salvation of mankind?" Let's see.

Matthew 19:13, KJV

"Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them."

The Lord highlighted this passage to me for our use. Within a moment of enlightenment, I knew why He had picked that for me to answer this question with.

It says, "then were there brought unto Him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray..."

I'll like us to come with our God sense and the common one given us. "Then, were there brought unto him little children..."

If little children were brought to Jesus, what were the likely things that could have accompanied them? Ask, [using our day and experience to judge]. What could have accompanied them?

Since they were brought to Jesus by their parents, those children could have included babies, toddlers and even older children - the ones who could walk freely on their feet [though KJV uses children] which could have painted the latter of the three I mentioned only. "Children" could have meant all those however. You know, some babies could have been brought in handheld colts.

If you drop a cube of sugar somewhere, what are the likely things to follow? Ants!

If you cover yourself with honey, what do you think will follow you? Flies!

As a matter of fact, in ancient Egypt, slaves and servants were usually covered with honey to attract flies away from Pharaoh!

A fact there! Directly to your face.

While it is an assumption we're treating, yet an assumption can be true. We also can deduce that when those children were finally admitted, approaching Jesus, they could have had toys with them.

Don't forget that Jesus might be like a stranger to some of these children and their parents could have wanted to 'bribe' them to receive blessings from the man of God. As such, those crying or reluctant could have been handed toys instead of stripping them of it.

They could just have carried toys. That's what children are known for. You know how you stole some that aren't yours in childhood and fought tooth and nail to keep them as yours. It's just natural for children to be discovered with that plaything wherever they go. It's their joy and comfort items. You want to make a little child 'dance' before you, snatch his toy from him. Yet, if you want him to fulfill a demand, fill him with an expectation of owning one. He'll fling into action and submit to obedience with a repentant face and twisted arms begging your goddess.

And who knows where all the parents highlighted for us in this story were coming from? Probably the market or the workshop? Their workplaces! If so, they might have done like we do today. When we are busy and we want our kids busy too (for obvious purposes), we engage them with toys. Ranging from puzzles to solve, bricks to build, dolls to converse with or dot on and musical instruments to awaken their inherent interests. Don't you think some of these parents could have done that as well?

I put it to you that toys could have followed these little ones that day. As the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Jesus, sending them off, the rattle of one kid could have given off sounds, the clay doll of another could have fallen and the bladder, cloth stuffed or raft ball of the mischievous could have received a kick - pronouncing his freedom from what he couldn't make sense of that his parents came to line him up to do.

So, this may be our go-to evidence on toys in the Bible.

Historically however, it has been found out through the digging of archeological evidence that toys do exist during the Bible era in places like Egypt, Mesopotamia, Babylon and ancient Israel. Egypt couldn't but have had arrays of toys as the first critical civilization with architectural breakthroughs, inventions in medicines, astronomy, field plays and other things in other areas. The whip in the Pharaoh's hand, popular when he crosses his arms is even nearing a toy. Why won't they have some?

Consider Moses' mother in Egypt. The Bible says, "she took bullrushes and built an ark for Moses" (Exo.2:3).

If people, even women are this creative and inventive, doubt me if you please, they had toys. Stuffed toys must have been sold in the market place. Since they had carts and carriages in those days, such mini wheels would have been created for children's curiosity as well.

I'm full of many suspicions that in seeking to give himself much joy and achieve a lot, Solomon must have commissioned or driven the invention of many toys alike (Eccl.2:10). Toy factories must have gone boom and reached the manufacturing peak during his days as he must have carefully curated a lot of toys for his many children. They must have branded some after his names and he himself must have signed on and branded some for his kids. Solomon himself while a kid must have enjoyed his childhood by the many presents of David.

Or do you think it was only God's infilling that made him wise? God saw something in him to latch on. His question before he became wise shows he's on average a wise man - better than many today.

I Kings 3:10-12, KJV

"10 And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 3:12 Behold, I have done according to thy words..."

If he had not asked for money, conquest or what have you before God gave him wisdom, don't you think he was wise before then? God acknowledged that because his request broke convention. The Bible says, "and God was pleased that Solomon had asked this thing." What you ask shows how wise you are! The many people who beset God with prayers daily only ask for the ephemeral or the lives of their enemies. And many are still doing it today even when the Master, Jesus Himself says, "love your enemies and bless those who despitefully use you" (Matt.5:44). You'll show me who's greater. You, your pastor who taught you so or Jesus who said, "don't do it." Mind you, Jesus is the greater! He's greater than Solomon who even exhibited this Christlikeness (Lk.11:31). So, you should give Him or whatsoever He says close hearing and clinging obedience.

Consider the days of Uzziah also, the civilization in that day couldn't have been devoid of toys. Or wouldn't a civilization that invented great engines, machines to shoot arrows and break walls wouldn't have done something for their kids as well.

II Chronicles 26:15, KJV

"And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong."

Mark the words, "cunning men." Those are battle inventors, nuclear physicists, mechanics etc who slept in the laboratories and workshops discovering and inventing for national defence.

If these men existed in those days, how much more those who could craft simple toys. It would have been as simple as 2 + 2 for them!

Don't you think so? Aha! Aba! Even Jesus talked about fathers giving gifts to their kids despite being evil [or human]. Read Matthew 7:11.

Those gifts could have been toys! As a matter of fact, Jesus could have uncovered one rich man or caring parent doing that for his kid. You know Jesus is a careful observer of people (Mark 12:41-42).

I don't think those parents are less concerned than we are today. The creative spirit didn't just evolve. It had been travelling before our days and time.

So, to explicitly answer your question, "were toys mentioned in the Bible that were specifically dedicated to children's joy"; I'll say, there was though not explicitly mentioned.

Parental love has been living before our time and it'll still exist after us. There will still be a father who cares, a mother that's concerned and artisans/creatives ready to create memories and curate inventions not only for their studios or art but for the children of men.

Look, rightly curated toys are not mere playthings - they are silent educators, shaping a child’s mind, heart, and character. The right toy at the right stage of development can awaken creativity, teach empathy, build problem-solving skills and foster emotional resilience. Just as a seed flourishes in good soil, a child thrives when their play is nourished with thoughtful, purposeful tools. In a world of noise and distraction, well-chosen toys become quiet companions in a child’s journey toward imagination, identity and wholeness.

That's why you must not enroll your kids in schools void of facilities and equipments. If you do, you'll have successfully starved their passions and inhibit their dreams. Dreams strive when you feed it to eloquence.

Believe me!

With myriads of toys cutting across diverse fields before your kids, you can mark and begin to suspect which field or passion they may gravitate towards through those they exhibit strong affinity for. Be like Mary; when you see this, lay it to heart (Lk.2:49-51).

THE SUFFERING AND MAKING OF ROUNDED STONES - One Alone Series 004

I Samuel 17:40, KJV

"And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."

I once had taught this revelation under this same title but with a slight title and obvious difference now. Since God is the One recalling it, I'll heed Him since I'm not recycling this but doing this anew under the Holy Ghost's inspiration. It means He has a purpose in mind for calling this teaching for this time. That's what you must know if you're a minister so that you don't feel guilty teaching again what you once taught or had taught on.

The suffering of the rounded stones! Should I have said that? Couldn't or shouldn't have said, "the suffering of the rough edged stones."

But, far be it from me to do that. We don't need the unrefined and unreformed in our arsenal. These stones that David chose for himself weren't always rounded and smooth. No!

Once upon a time, when they were possibly blasted or chipped and carried by flood into the stream, they were rough edged and jagged. As a matter of fact, they can cut deep into your skin if you mistakenly step or fall on them. They were disorganized stones and couldn't have done much for the purpose David chose them for if they were still in their former appearances.

But after their arrival in this water, they travelled with it over time. This stream that has been flowing from its source or head stream transported them over time until they got to this exact place where David could reach out for them. Meanwhile as they journeyed, they didn't have a smooth ride at all. On occasions, the current had hit them against other stones or rocks and these overtime smoothened their bodies as they are polished by this often contact and filing.

But how enjoyable was that to them? Not at all. Strike two stones together, you'll see it could spark fire or wear off at each other. It's this process that arrived them at being the smooth vessels that David could call for on the day of battle.

To be God's battle axe and one whose mouth has been sharpened to uproot and plant also takes a process. It is this process of following Christ daily and bearing His yoke that'll qualify you for Christlikeness both in character and charisma. Don't forget that when you experience life's realities that makes you a pelican in the wilderness, an owl of the desert or a sparrow on a roof top, God wants to be glorified in them as well - shaping your character and teaching you to maturity.

Are you on this journey or you have gone back? Are you in training or out of training?

PRAYER: Lord, may I be ready for the day and purpose you're preparing me for.

READ TEACHINGS, PLAY S

READ TEACHINGS, PLAY SERMONS AND REJOICE IN SONGS

Why do we read teachings or listen to sermons or songs - doing so repeatedly?

I've taught this before. There are three types of people that are drawn to the anointing.

- Truth seekers

Those are the people drawn towards what the anointed teaches. The truth straightens them, becomes their guide and instructions for life but furthermore equip them with knowledge to share and prepare them for their own ministry if they have one in the future. So, it becomes, "in your light we see light."

- Those the anointing draws to dissolve or destroy the yokes in their lives

When some are drawn to an anointing - especially of someone carrying a special ministration or ministry, it may be that God is hooking them up to that person whose anointing and God's power on him can address their problems. Even without knowing as they listen to him and follow him, their burdens are dissolved and their spiritual yokes are destroyed (that is corrupted).

That's why you feel lighter after listening to sermons where you've been burdened or besetted. It shows even on the literal level that God's word and anointed speech are evacuators of problems. If you tarry under an anointed person's ministry, even if he doesn't say, "be delivered" and there are spiritual equations working against you, God will absorb and absolve you of them without you even knowing as time passes. Strong ministration is not until you fall. That's why you must not chase after the feeling but the substance. But the problem is that, people don't really follow or discover who to open up to.

- Those who have their destiny portion carried by that anointing

This is the third kind of person. Listen to me, God doesn't just put people in local churches or knit their hearts with an anointed minister. If you have special love for any minister and you like listening to him above all others, it means you probably have a call to ministry somewhere in your life even if you haven't discovered. Meanwhile, God has seen no one else to equip you and transfer the Spirit (anointing) to you except that man. You may meet more than one man in life. On campus, I predicted and told my excos about my meeting Venerable Johnson Oyebode even when I haven't known him. Till today, I knew what God hooked me up with him to receive. God doesn't just attach people to men of God to serve them or live in their houses. It's a function of a future destiny that preparation must be made for.

That's why it's easier to mark the proteges of certain elderly or anointed ministers. Those young chaps may have manifestations after the ministry and the anointed they take after or have learnt from. Consider Benny Hinn taking after Kathryn Khulman.

Destiny portion is what equips an Elisha for his own day after Elijah might have left the scene. God keeps passing anointing and reintroducing ministries (that may look like that of someone you formerly know). For instance, Segun Ariyo has a ministry that patterns that of Bro. Gbile Akanni.

But beyond this, why do we listen to sermons or follow teachings?

Let me give you bits

- to imbibe the Spirit of the teaching and the anointed

- to be anointed with the works they do as you follow and imbibe them. This is how I got anointed just by following. I'm an ardent follower of men God has given me. I can listen to one sermon repeatedly until I imbibe the Spirit of it and Impartation happens

- to be able to open the Bible and divide scriptures like they do. I find this to be true. I receive scriptures to use like Olusola Areogun and Johnson Oyebode receive it. It just comes to me. I may pick a scripture that on the surface may seem not to align with the topic but by the time I divide it, you'll see the juice in it and nod in affirmation

- to be refreshed and washed by the Word

- to be empowered with spiritual power and strength. If you don't know, the anointing enters you as you listen or read. You're strengthened and build spiritual stamina

- to be convicted of sin unto godly sorrow or repentance

- to be instructed about life or know what to do per time

- to be kept anointed instead of one's head lacking oil and feeling or saying life doesn't make sense 'jare'

- to be equipped with sound doctrine

- in order to be made ready to defend the gospel

- to be a witness

- to know what the Bible is all about

And many more.

In all these, people who'll follow more ardently are those who think or believe they have a future in ministry. They're the greatest truth seekers. If you think your future will be built around Medicine, that may be your greatest concern and so shift your focus to following consultants in the field. What we want to become is what we always have passion for. Note that!

You can add your own points to the list on why we listen to sermons etc. Let it be your practice to listen to sermons until you fall asleep. It's better for sermons or the Bible to be playing as an audio file than a bad programme or careless talk going on over you from the TV as you sleep. It'll sip into your unconsciousness. Dag Heward Mills also listened to Kenneth Hagin until he was anointed. He slept and woke up to meet the tape playing, he continued with it and then he felt something entering him and a voice saying, "from now on, you can teach." From that, he has written books that have gone on to the ends of the earth and blessed many.

Don't toil with spiritual things, this is how to be great. Sisters, mummies at home, even if you're busy, let a sermon keep playing. Put your phone somewhere in the kitchen and let it play on as you cook, do the dishes or bathe. When I go to poo, I go on listening. Look, there's no time to waste. I'm here to make contact. Plug in earphones in the bus, get anointed and seriously wet by the Holy Spirit. Even on the blog, you can trigger the audio tool and it'll read out my teachings for you as you do chores or clean the house.

Maximize your life please. We have no spare tyre.

Stay green!

THE NEVER REBUKED ADONIJAH - One Alone Series 003

Kings 1:5-6, KJV

"5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. 6 And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom."

The Bible is not silent concerning Adonijah. It says, "And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so?"

That means, to rebuke, amend or correct. That's the only thing that could cause anybody displeasure as the Bible points out in another place.

Hebrews 12:11, KJV

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."

If it were a commendation the Bible was talking about, there wouldn't be need to say, "it causes displeasure or grieve."

Correction is not always interesting and rebuke does not for that present time cause rejoicing. Why? It's the flesh or carnality that's being crucified and dealt with. So, it'll have to shrink at that moment instead of swelling up in pride. That's what causes displeasure or grieve. It's like pouring alcohol or ethanol on the liver. You'll cause it to shrink. That's what correction, rebuke and amendment sets out to achieve when administered.

But what sort of son are you that's not amended or for once curtailed? Unfortunately, that's who Adonijah is. No wonder he turns out a usurper and violator of God's will. At day's end, he met with death when he wouldn't yield up the throne that he had lost to Solomon but contest it subtly by seeking Abishag (I Kings 2:24-25).

Not having been well raised and amended made him a spoilt child, one who thinks he could do whatever and get away with it. When you only pamper and hesitate to discipline in uprightness, you'll have half baked cake. And that's who this man or if you which boy or baby Adonijah turns out to be.

The Bible says, "And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so?"

That's what made him become a rotten fruit. What does the Bible say will drive out madness from the heart of a child? The rod! (Proverbs 22:15). That immediately refers to rebuke, discipline and correction which would have produced a better Adonijah with proper ethics. Rather, he was only comforted all the days of his life. Even when he was wrong, it was the father who still begs and said, sorry my son. His end was clear. He became a cast way. He died on his journey. He never arrived. May God rather deal with you as proper children by what He allows to proof and prune you.

Hebrews 12:6-7, KJV

"6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?"

May you arrive. May you make it. May you endure. May you not vanish and be like one who never came because his life was caught short. Rather, may your moments of solitude, hard pressure addresses all the intents for which God is allowing it all. You may experience displeasure passing through them and they may seem to you like scourging but you can evolve a better person after then with transformed character and view of life.

PRAYER: Lord, I submit to the process, make me a better me for your use.

AN OLD LION CAN SUFFER LACK!

AN OLD LION CAN SUFFER LACK!

"Aha! An old lion! Even an old lion? I doubt it."

But, you don't have to trek too far. You don't need to hold onto your doubts for too long. I know your perception is that old lions ought not to lack. "Old" should give them the edge. "Old" should position them for being wiser and experienced hunters. The lion, king of the jungle metaphorically! Why would he ever go hungry? However, the coin doesn't flip like that. What appears to us as written on the wall is that, "the old lions do suffer lack."

"Old" in this defined sense made them unfit, outdated and weak in field games - like hunting, racing and outcompeting other predators and prey. "Old" in this sense evidently proves their mentality has shifted to wanting security than exploring. They're pampering and convincing themselves therefore to accept having entered retirement. As such, they stay indoors - in their 'dens' as their keenness and sharpness for hunting has seriously deteriorated - revealing sluggishness like never. Note, the literal lion lives in the open and in the grasslands. Not in permanent dens.

When hungry therefore, they might have to make do with the fresh carcass that they may find. When it is not available as fresh, they are forced to scavenge and eat decaying meats when prey is scarce or when it's simply easy to afford. At other times when nothing works in their favour, they go hungry and enter the lacking phase actively from where they can experience the extinction phase.

Do you know anything about lions? What do you have at hand on them? To make this a more established work, I'll give you an AI overview of the question I asked Google in order to prove my side to you. The question was, "do old lions suffer hunger?" The reply was simple but poignant.

"Yes, old lions often suffer from hunger because age and weakness prevent them from hunting successfully or defending their kills from other predators like hyenas. As a result, they may die miserably due to starvation, becoming vulnerable and ultimately perishing for lack of prey."

Without having searched Google, I explained the same thing initially through the revelation from the Bible verse the Holy Spirit gave to me for this teaching. Here's it!

Job 4:11, KJV

"The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, [and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad]."

I didn't need to check Google because I had believed the Bible's report before I checked for you to clear your own doubts on that [if any] against some suppositions.

When the Bible says, "the old lion perishes for lack of prey...", it is stating an obvious fact. A very obvious one at that. It is telling us what has been long researched, known and held unto. It won't be now that it'll change. It is a proven fact that, "old lions (in the literal lion) do suffer lack and perish." And by extension, another "lion" which you'll soon see.

Meanwhile, the crux of the matter is how the Holy Spirit highlighted this passage for me. The Holy Spirit said, "Olusola, do you know that old lions do suffer lack and perish eventually?" I gave Him attention. Then He said, "watch old people, aged people who once were active but now are retired from various works and walks of life; at times many of them suffer lack and end in poverty towards the tail end of their lives." Just like Google describes the literal lions, they also do fall miserably. In defining the scarcity that do befall them, professionals called it, "old age poverty." You [my reader] personally know many people who didn't die wealthy and well even if they were once okay or had fared well at a time. It might have brought a rude shock seeing the end of "the once great." Imagine!

Yet, these were once active civil servants, traders, business operators, sole proprietors or entrepreneurs of a time earning steady salary/income by which they could be sustained. However, what's their experience now? Their confession is that, "life while in active service is better economically for me than now that I've retired and can no longer hunt for meat."

Should it be? I'm asking you, "should the old lions suffer lack?" "Should they be the ones with this sorrow?" "I thought at this age they should be comforted." I know the kind of sympathy that has hit you now. You're feeling for them. For some, they're scared and wondering what would become of them too. You can be saved. You can staunch the 'blood' flow and live healthy.

I was touched at heart and deeply moved at why people who once moved mountains at work, programmed, operated, computed, played (in games/sports), traded, competed, challenged and even accumulated some medals, trophies and made some marks for it are now the old monkeys that cannot find their way or play tricks on the trees tops anymore. I said, "God, what a situation! What a disaster? This must not happen to us! This must not happen to anyone." He told me, "it's for that I'm coming for you and many who'll read this and incline a heart of wisdom by putting measures in place that'll continue them to live fat even in old age when they cannot run helter skelter again. You can be one who laughs in time to come. How? If you'll let strength and dignity be your clothing now.

Proverbs 31:25, KJV

"Strength and honour [dignity] are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come."

I nodded to the Holy Spirit and asked, "Teach us that we'll not be devastated." I could sense Him strongly with me. Like a father holding His son's hand, He held mine and led me on into some valuables that were worth it which He wanted to renew in your heart.

"Every wise person always holds water against their thirst." It is unwise trying to put preparation on ground only after being cornered. Why not get ready at a distance?

God told me, to avoid the lack of old age, avoid the myth of the 'dozen children.'

It is this myth that made some parents give birth to children they have no preparation and capacities to raise - leading to expenses that drained what they could have done for themselves or become for the preservation of their old age. They were deceived into thinking, "the more they have (children), the likely the chances of those who would make it or look after them at old age."

First, get to a place of strategy where you're not waiting for your children to bring hither and thither before you'll put your hand to the mouth. That's Grade A evil and you should avoid it. Let the dew of your youth labour and plough the ground now in the favour that God will surround you with. As you gather from your harvest often, deposit some in preparation for those "old days." It can be an investment that you're even running simultaneously with other things but ensure it's not only gratuity or pension.

It may be the holding of enough landed properties in places that'll make you a millionaire after forecasting into its future or holding of anything of such stance that can finance your sustenance then. What matters is to be able to continue in old age (when some natural difficulties are earmarked to everyone). In famine and at tough times, continuing and still taking sustenance like former days is key (I Kings 17:9).

If you rely on gratuity/pension only, future inflation will disturb, vex and wreck it. Only the institution that has been holding it really makes turnover from it. It'll therefore be corroded and rusted. It can't withstand the coming pressure and the demands of years to come. So, devise to raise something that can grow with the growth of time and development. If it does appreciate, it'll keep its relevance to equate with the time it lives in.

Parents who give birth beyond their means - economic capacity will be forced to share their little among many yet it won't satiate. As such, the many they have will not be effectively raised and be their sure trees to lean on. This way, they cannot even bank on those children as they had falsely hoped.

It is such children you see fending to raise themselves and until they're balanced, they cannot take a careful thought for the other person. It is such children you hear say, "what I suffered, my children won't suffer!" That may be true if they'll be wiser than their parents. Without an action plan, a whole cycle can be inherited and repeated. It's such children you hear saying, "I could have gone farther than this but I had no man" [to push me to the destination] - John 5:7.

It means there's a knowing, guilt and dissatisfaction in their chest that they themselves haven't become successful let alone avoid the repeated cycle.

So, give birth to a few, then lavish your (corresponding few or average resources on them) to raise children like the nobles' and those at the top echelon of the system.

Don't you know that raising children is stressful? It's demanding! It's actually 'dying' for one's children to live. It is giving oneself away. Is that what you want to use your whole life to do (even if you have the resources)? Sacrificing, staying restricted (at home) especially for mothers, being concerned as they grow, spending yourself and all resources isn't a little expenditure. Yet, some will keep nurturing into their sixties or even seventies just to raise children.

What about your own dreams? That something to become. The very one you've always pined doing. The one you need to express to the degree of possessing inner rest eventually. Like Jacob asked, "when will I have time to prepare for my own house also" (Gen. 30:30)? Don't you know it is in servicing your purpose and becoming its demands and bringing it to pass that you can even furnish a good future for your children. This matter is, "in your light we see light." So, give them a platform to spring up from instead of seeking to rise from the very ground they walk on. Or do you lack awareness that it's in your purpose you can have your old age provided for at a good level? If you're pursuing a career/calling, ensure you become outstanding in it as a youth. You see, many even marry without having begun to live purposefully - without having entered into their way or become something. So, they began raising kids on empty stomachs that early without time to realize, grow and become their real selves. They substituted finding themselves to obtain children. They're deceived to think they'll have joy by that only to discover how aggravated they were after having the sex and having the children but with no proof of purposeful living that can satiate, assure, encourage and endorse a booming future. No! Not living out purpose will trouble you. It'll leave a gorge that nothing can satisfy in you. You can't think or wish it away. Taking alcohol every night can't wear that dissatisfaction off. Therefore find your road [where your greatness is hidden] and pursue it. Become a man of war from your youth (I Samuel 17:33). Find yourself early. By the time you grow midway, you're as popular and a 'terror' in your field as Goliath of Gath whose the staff of his spear is as the weaver's beam. He is a man of great resume (I Samuel 17:4-7). He was confessed to be a champion. How lucky the Philistines were having him?

Those who stand out in their calling are those who usually become men of war and managers even from their youth. Maintain that form until departure from active service. At retirement, they'll call you a veteran, master of the trade, J.J. Okocha of the craft - someone that cannot be forgotten but often remembered, honoured and even called back by the system for consultations and advice. News will still pick you up and call you a set-man, legendary and unforgettable though not on the active public scene but on the shelf. All these will only make your relevance far reaching. Though in retirement, you're not old but new. The incoming will even rever you, admire you for the records set (that still speak) and aspire to be like you. It is you they'll feature on their platforms saying, "only who knows the way should be followed and trusted to instruct other men alike."  And when you render such services at old age to those who acknowledge who you were and are now to them, it comes not without a cap but with honour, reward, stipends and showers of blessings. Their estimation for you would make them reward you more than you could or had offered. It'll be disguised in, "a living legend must be celebrated while alive." They'll even add a prostration.

That's what it means to still be eating the seeds you have planted. But you must ensure you climb that ladder into the limelight. You must be recognized. Once the light is on you and leaves with the light still beaming, you'll have written yourself in the system, rules, workings, hearts of men and archive of records. This way, you'll keep reoccurring even while retiring and sipping tea in your den. Your name will be mentioned! Your quotes will be used! Your frame will be hung by your ardent followers! Your enemies will still criticize you! Philosophers will still critique your works and all these will only flow currency and relevance into your purse (even at old age). At such old age, they can name a street after you and treat you to the toast and joy of the mainstream. For being a sea still and salt that retains its savour, you can enter into consulting and even become senior adviser to senior men of their days (including those youngsters in politics and what have them).

Furthermore, avoid their trap - the trap that caught some. The trap of whatever my eyes see, I will buy, experience and give me [buy myself] - Eccl.2:10. Don't forget, the eyes cannot be tired of seeing nor the ear filled with hearing (Eccl. 1:8). So master discipline by the act of deliberate bridling of your body [horse]. The trap of, "nobody knows tomorrow, give a treat to yourself today" has successfully ruined or sent some to their early grave. Chibuike Onu's poem, The Government Driver on His Retirement warns against throwing caution in the air and disrobing from the precautions that have kept you alive and secured your head for ages. The devil is an opportunist. He goes around like a roaring lion looking for whom to devour. If your door is slightly opened through indiscipline and recklessness, then he can enter and widen that access by a combination of blows, jabs and battering he'll administer to you. His venture is to quickly do harm [steal, kill or destroy] and gain good ground he can contest with you or defend later on. It'll take a miracle to recover from how he'll invade and rush you with blows if you lose guard.

Life spent strategically however is wise. But that previous saying is a canvasser of wastefulness and a romancer of early death. Rather, critical thinkers are those who cast their bread on water and give portions to seven or eight because they don't know the unforeseen contingency that could come on earth (Eccl. 11:1-2). Such rather scatter seeds abroad and hope that even if some fall by the road side, on the rock, amidst thorns, there'll still be some that'll fall on the good ground - bringing forth in a hundred, sixty or thirty folds (Matt.13:8). Even after the scattering and after the losing of some gateways to harvest, the ones that fell on the good land may not offer the best of outcome to individual seed scatterers. It could come as abundant, huge, fair or little for individuals. For this reason, you must seriously scatter abroad and give portions to many.

Build a community and belong to a community. Give to the community and worry less about return. When you give, you'll be given (Lk.6:38). It's not a lie even if it won't be through the same people you gave to that you'll reap. And may I tell you, returns often come with dividends. The Bible cannot be broken. If you'll be of service to many people while young and agile; if you'll support dreams and nurture the visions of many - sponsoring and raising men even if it'll be in your niche, circle or the calling God has given you, do. He that waters shall be watered (Prov.11:25). No be lie! That's why that same verse says, "the liberal soul will be made fat." That fatness results from accumulations or yielded dividends of sowing.

It'll come back. As simple as that is, it can be the means through which you'll secure your old age. Many elderly people have been adopted by someone they once sown into, ploughed his field or encouraged. The Bible wrote this concerning widows who are real widows and should be catered for.

II Timothy 5:9, ESV

"Let a widow be enrolled (adopted) if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband 10 and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, (I'm sure this may include adopted ones), has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work" [emphasis mine in brackets].

Did you see what your deeds should be? According to Paul, those are those who should expect a return or a re-investment (that is, return investment as compensation for their having laboured once upon a time when they were much able). You, do you have any work? Are you doing any work?

For short, do good to everyone. Raise people up while you have the office, pen, ink, desk, mouth, standing, uniform, official phone, letter head, quarters, allocation, allowances etc".

If you're a selfless person, truly selfless, you can take this further by creating an NGO in order to see to people's welfare though it is an open secret nowadays that many NGOs are only established for personal benefits and enrichments of individuals but under the colour of meeting the general public's needs.

The Spirit writing this wants to bring it to an end and it means, "don't push it further." It means the anointing is lifting as the excitement is dousing. So, I'll begin to stay my hands. I guess there are no more voids or gaps to fill that the already shared knowledge can't fill. Summarily, secure your old age. Just don't eat everything today that your land has brought forth plentifully. Time of youth and active service is an opportunity but it's also a season. It'll pass. If you know this, you'll build for yourself (not for any Pharaoh), storehouses and treasure cities (Gen. 41:56; Exodus 1:11) that can hold the goodness of the Lord, goods and goodies of those good years against the incoming '7 years of famine.'

I'm hearing concerning some of you. "You need to re-strategize and pull down your old barns and build new ones that can contain" (Lk.12:18). Put new plans on ground that will attack effectively and maximize this teaching.

You'll be lucky to have escaped from old age poverty if you die seven years after retirement. But you know as I do that you'll want to live longer. Naturally, even in poverty, many would live beyond 70s (for instance). So, why won't you dig deep - burrow into the soil, carry treasures away and hide them.

The story of some invalids came to mind. They were a total write-off. Lepers in Israel don't live in the city but without. The Bible says, in II Kings 7:8, "And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it."

Until then, they never announced their find to the palace. Secure yourself without depriving humanity of your kindness and service. Those lepers did it strongly. It was the principle of pouring the water until it flows round the altar and extends to the trench.

I Kings 18:34-35, KJV

"34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. 35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water."

Do this and find balance in the fear of God. Don't kill, don't steal but willingly work with your hands.

Proverbs 31:13, KJV

"She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands."

Ephesians 4:28, KJV

"Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth."

Remember, what goes round comes round. The acts of today (good or bad) will speak for/against you tomorrow.

May you cultivate the heart of wisdom by this.

Dedicated to a brother on his recent birthday (Segun - The Dave)!
