THE SUFFERING AND MAKING OF ROUNDED STONES - One Alone Series 004
I Samuel 17:40, KJV
"And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."
I once had taught this revelation under this same title but with a slight title and obvious difference now. Since God is the One recalling it, I'll heed Him since I'm not recycling this but doing this anew under the Holy Ghost's inspiration. It means He has a purpose in mind for calling this teaching for this time. That's what you must know if you're a minister so that you don't feel guilty teaching again what you once taught or had taught on.
The suffering of the rounded stones! Should I have said that? Couldn't or shouldn't have said, "the suffering of the rough edged stones."
But, far be it from me to do that. We don't need the unrefined and unreformed in our arsenal. These stones that David chose for himself weren't always rounded and smooth. No!
Once upon a time, when they were possibly blasted or chipped and carried by flood into the stream, they were rough edged and jagged. As a matter of fact, they can cut deep into your skin if you mistakenly step or fall on them. They were disorganized stones and couldn't have done much for the purpose David chose them for if they were still in their former appearances.
But after their arrival in this water, they travelled with it over time. This stream that has been flowing from its source or head stream transported them over time until they got to this exact place where David could reach out for them. Meanwhile as they journeyed, they didn't have a smooth ride at all. On occasions, the current had hit them against other stones or rocks and these overtime smoothened their bodies as they are polished by this often contact and filing.
But how enjoyable was that to them? Not at all. Strike two stones together, you'll see it could spark fire or wear off at each other. It's this process that arrived them at being the smooth vessels that David could call for on the day of battle.
To be God's battle axe and one whose mouth has been sharpened to uproot and plant also takes a process. It is this process of following Christ daily and bearing His yoke that'll qualify you for Christlikeness both in character and charisma. Don't forget that when you experience life's realities that makes you a pelican in the wilderness, an owl of the desert or a sparrow on a roof top, God wants to be glorified in them as well - shaping your character and teaching you to maturity.
