PROPELLED TOWARDS HIS DESTINY - Your Baby Series 022

Judges 13:25, KJV

"And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol."

Yesterday, I showed you how it is what we are made or created to be that we manifest. A pig bathes in the mud you know and a human acts intelligently. May I push further on that.

When God visits Samson's parents, He told them they'll deliver a son and he would begin to deliver Israel.

Judges 13:5, KJV

"For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."

That would be his assignment and so his destiny was sealed. A while after Samson was grown up, an adolescent he must be;  the Bible records, "and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir or move him at times..." Did you read that? Now, let us ask ourselves a question. When the Lord began to stir him, was it to write books? Was it to couple components  together? Was it to sing or entertain? Rather, when the Lord began to stir him, what did he stirred him towards?

The answer isn't far fetched. He stirred him towards his purpose as originally revealed to his parents. He stirred him towards a sensitizing and affirming of the supernatural power on and working through him. Through that stirring comes the urge to probably attempt rolling away a rock, lifting a heavy weight, running miles yet not wearied, shooting the arrows yet striking accuracy or pulling out a tree from the earth with uncommonness. All in all, Samson saw that something was unnatural about himself. He could have gone home to ask his parents why he could do things so astoundingly like no other person could do i.e uprooting and carrying a whole city gate away; tearing a lion as if it were a young goat etc. Imagine those! He accomplished difficult things with ease. However, the Lord impressed on him to be launched in that path by making such attempts. God just stirred or moved him towards the path of exerting physical force/effort and the result was extraordinary. So, in today's world, Samson could have gone on to become a Heavyweight Boxing Champion. He could have won several belts and knocked many down by TKO (knockout). If he had chosen Wrestling or Kick Boxing as a profession, that had even be deadlier because he had just be breaking bones and slaughtering people in the ring. He'll be defeating opponents in Round 1 of every fight and if any goes round 2 with him, they had ended up with broken ribs and ruptured kidney. He'd be greater than Muhammad Ali, acknowledge God (by often kneeling in thanksgiving in the ring) than George Foreman and be of greater fame than the Nigerian born British fighter, Anthony Joshua. What the Lord planted in him; what the Lord named and described as his calling from birth is what God ensures he was eventually streamlined, directed, guided, funnelled, focused and launched into.

The great days of Samson delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines that all of us have read about began in the small days of his stirring in locations of little repute in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol that he himself can never forget. He knows where to trace his rise to stardom to! Samson could go on to build a youth center or gym at that same location as a sign of indebtedness to God and the society from which he rose.  Nobody was there then when the stirring and training began but Samson could testify to an unusual power beginning to work through him at that place. He knew when and where his days of small beginning began from. He would just observe that he began  to exhibit unusual and unparalleled strength where others (even though of a bigger stature) are strained, therefore giving up.

Let me tell you something. Your child is made for his field and God will stir him towards that field. A child is stirred towards a field when he begins to exhibit traits of those in that area of human endeavour. If you listen to the testimony of those around musicians or superstar of a field, they'd told you that the popular face that has now become a brand used to sing all around the house. The parents could even tell you that he requested for a guitar on one of his birthday at age 7 and went on to self develop himself as a guitarist. You might think, "is that possible?" But it is! When God stirs someone towards his calling, it's to do exactly as they have been ordained and become as they have been foretold.

So, don't neglect these signs. Watch for them in your kids. I tell the truth and lie not. Your child is called and the field God has called him to is one he'll be obviously stirred towards at times. That field would just become his area of interest! Once you observe that, train and encourage him in that line. You had be shocked that he might attain stardom before adulthood. Therefore, he'll begin to bring you gains as described of this soothsayer who brought her masters no little gains (Acts 16:16, 19).

PRAYER: Lord, may I maximize my child. May I not harness them lesser than you determined. O God, stir my child towards his calling and let it be obvious.

INVENTORS AND ENGINEERS - Your Baby Series 021

II Chronicles 26:15, KJV

"And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong."

This is the achievement of Uzziah, king in Jerusalem. During his tenure, he was powerful militarily and subdued far and wide. However, that just didn't fall on him. It came because God gave him victory which owes to a subset fact of having a developed nation powered by technology and the rightful invention. Praise to his mechanics, engineers, inventors and all technicians who invented those engines and machines of war by which he defences his people and also fights. If you'd watched Bahubaali, those engines created to haul stones and shoot arrows would be just like the ones portrayed in that movie.

How could you say an inventor of the fan (a product rarely not present in a home) but  which everybody uses has no call while agreeing that your pastor whose sermons or books the whole world are not reading has a call? It's a misconception. This is how we have separated all other professionals from the holily call and righteous demands of God on the calling they as well carry. So, they began to see themselves as ordinary and secular - as people of "anything goes" instead of consecrating themselves to that field for the Lord's glory. But the early fathers of protestantism didn't see it that way. Martin Luther and John Calvin didn't teach their generation that way. As a matter of fact, they esteemed all work or its form as equal. As far as God is concern, it hasn't changed. An engineer will be called to account in the measure of his calling just as a clergy will give account likewise in his calling. Only that God says teachers would be judged with stricter measures and I want to believe it won't be clergy or preachers of the Word of God only. It'll include all those who instructs or leads anywhere at any time. As long as they're in leadership with a measure of influence over a given people, they'll be judged with stricter measure. They must give account for how they influence those opened to their instructions (James 3:1-2). Verily established is therefore the fact that God holds us accountable and when different, it's based on His investment or expectation from us. Check the story of the talents for this (Matt.25:14-30). That doesn't then mean that your profession (of being a preacher of the gospel) is the most esteemed in God's eyes. No! It is how and what you do with your profession that makes it esteemed or reproachful before God. If you're a sweeper and you sweep so well and diligently, I bet it, you'll have the praise of God. If you're a preacher and you don't give all diligence to research and deliver the best, you'll be rebuked of God. As a matter of fact, you should be afraid and that's because God also doesn't bear the sword in vain (just like the state). God is in the business of dividing to us as we have done without being a respecter of persons or  profession. Our watchword should be whatsoever we do, we do as unto the Lord and with all our might.

Listen, your baby is called and once called, the equipping is there even if it is not showing now. It may not show anyway if he doesn't do the work for which he was equipped. So, that might render him as one not called. The call of being a minister of the gospel predates my birth but I needed to heed the call. Even before I heeded it, God started training me for it. All the experiences I've had were for a reason - a preparation for that intent of being a minister and those that were not were converted to be. This went on until I was heavily anointed as I listened repeatedly to the sermon of my favourite minister which at that time I was specially attracted to. From then on, my teaching ministry was revolutionized. I want to talk more and people want to listen to me more. Since then, I've not ran dry of teaching, preaching and doing the works of ministry. Why? An equipping capacitates me for that. This devotional you're reading is a proof of my call and equipping. It's the product of my own calling.

Those engines or machines we read about were made by some inventors. To be an inventor or anything, you must have the mind or be filled with the mind of one. Without the equipping of one, you can't be one. Steve Jobs was just a young boy when he passed by a store with his dad. Seeing the technological devices in the store, he was attracted to them. Later on, he went on to invent good systems for us like Apple and Macintosh. His products stand out. What you love is a function of what God calls you to do. For Nebuchadnezzar to become an animal, God had to give him the lower mind of an animal. So, he acted as one and began to crawl. For him to be human again, his human heart had to be restored so he could regain understanding and stand upright (Dan.4:29-37). Only then was he returned to the community of men. For you to be a teacher, you must be filled or equiped with the abilities of one. If that mind is not in you, you can't manifest it. Even the Bible tells us that we should let Christ's mind be in us for us to act humbly, selflessly and Christlike (Phil.2:5-9). Without having His mind, those qualities would elude us. So, if there's an office or function you covet, follow those who are established in it. As time goes on, you'll begin to absorb them and have yourself changed (by a renewing of your mind with the things pertaining to that office or field). This is one of the ways to get equipped for anything. It is usually a quickened and successful process when you're naturally at first attracted to such field because you're called there by God. You tend to absorb and learn faster by immersion in what you're naturally obsessed with. And as far as we know, obsession after a field or someone in that field is a sign that your child is called or has a destiny in or around that field.

The moment Bezaleel sees gold, silver, brass, stone, timber etc, he immediately receives an impression of what to do with them. He's that inspired and lofty in craftsmanship because he is set there by God. As such, he could work with those resources. If you're not an inventor, building things by merging components won't interest you. You'll see no sense in it but rather deride those whose calling it is. But if your child is, he'll just be fascinated with technology and devices' parts. Watch it. Is your boy dismantling devices at home i.e wristwatch, toys etc? Does he have uncanny aptitude to build with his hands, move with his body, solve puzzles, sing or speak with his voice or write vividly with imagery? Any of those hints at his future work or calling. You're seeing a boy or a girl set in his own office right there!

PRAYER: Lord, I receive your mind to act Christlike. My child shall manifest the mind of he who you have called him. A beast acts beastly, a man acts humanly; a singer sings. My child shall act as preordained.

YOUR CHILD HAS AN EQUIPPING  - Your Baby Series 020

Exodus 31:3, KJV

"And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship."

Equipping is what fits anyone for the office he's set in or function he's to discharge. Without equipping or manifestation of an office, one can't be called an apostle, prophet, engineer, artist, musician, writer etc. It is first what you do that earns you the name. As a matter of fact, you may not bear the title but go ahead to doing the work. As such, such title will naturally be attracted and conferred on you.

Can we call you a pastor when you have no pastoral qualities or shepherd duties you're discharging? You neither accept responsibility or seek to protect or care for anyone. So, where will you be located? It's not the certificate that makes you a pastor; it's the work you do. The certificate is only a testimony that witnesses indeed that you've been doing that work.

In today's reading, God equips Bezaleel, Aholiab and other witted people he called for their assignment. Their assignment is clearly stated. It's "4 to devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,5 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship."

As long as it is anything that pertains to this description, they're capacitated to discharging to the utmost as it'll be demanded of them. They are called to device or work, "in all manner of workmanship." Their equipping therefore and the kind of wisdom God has put in them is not to write books like myself but to craft things. God equips in the direction of the calling or office He's giving any person. Someone God intends to be a sportsman might have kinetic intelligence while another spatial because he's called to be a scientist or inventor.

As such, He fills Bezaleel with the spirit of God (though he won't be doing Moses' kind of ministry). Spirit of God is not only reserved for ministers of the gospel. It's for every professional to function in the profession they're set or placed in.

Your child also has an equipping because he has been surely called and set in a field. If it's to be a writer, he might love the indoor, reading of anything at sight while being a good story lover. He might take interest in folklore, history of mankind and human civilization to your bewilderment. He might want to visit the museum or know about people's cultures or ways of life. You'll just observe some remarkable obsessions in tending towards his calling and future destination. He might even love certain movies and that'll be because they meet the need of He who God has called him to be. So, watch carefully and you'll see. Your child has a calling and God has not left him comfortless by not equipping him. He is equipped already and so, he is able and capacitated to contribute to that field and even earn a living from it if he gives diligence that establishes every calling in the view of the whole world.

PRAYER: May my equipping not be useless. My child's equipping shall find expression. Give me persistence in my calling.

AND HE HAS SET SOME - Your Baby Series 019

I Corinthians 12:28, KJV

"And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

When that place says, "and He has set some", it talks of God placing us in different functions.

God sets some! To set means to "place." It also means, "God has called some by name." God who set A as an Apostle and B as a prophet called them by name first of all and set them in those functions differently. Like the teeth are set in the mouth without the canine supplanting the molar where it should be, in same manner, God has set some to function, manifest or occupy offices differently. Ephesians 4:12 talks of ministry offices and it will take us further.

Ephesians 4:11, KJV

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers"

These are offices that those who occupy them would be gifted differently from each other. For instance, the Apostle is a sent one. He's empowered by God to open a new land or territory to other ministry offices. He's equipped with strong spirit to wrestle and conquer principalities and powers especially over nations, cities and places. Signs and wonders do attend his work. The prophet is both a foreteller (predictor) and forthteller (inspired speaker). He has revelation gifts and gift of discernment. The evangelist is a winner of souls with the gift of the gab whose work is specially attested to by signs, wonders, healing and miracles. He coverts sinners especially. The pastor is a shepherd who grooms the harvest sent in by the evangelist. He's usually a teacher with a patient and caring spirit. The teacher is different from a pastor who preaches but is one given special graces to reveal God's mystery hidden in the Bible to people. He teaches the body of Christ.

You'll see that with the setting comes different functions and manifestations. That's why you mustn't covet anyone's calling. The reason is because you have yours. Find it and develop it. You've been set by the Lord somewhere also. He who sets the solitary in families has set you in a calling of His own choice and has equipped you with passion, talents, inclination and special obsession for that field.

This also tells us that calling isn't a fraud. It is very genuine and true. God originated it and He seeks to perpetuate it in every living being He has sent here. There should be no one who should be idle. That's because God has ordained a work for him or her to do. When God created Adam, He puts him in the garden to till the ground. But even before then, He gave him authority to dominate or rule over the works of His hands. That is, he was given the responsibility of exploring, cultivating and maximizing all God created. His work is to bear rule on behalf of God and it shows in Adam naming the animals - where it is whatsoever he calls them they bear (Gen.2:19-20). God gave Adam a work. It wasn't Adam who set himself as a manager over the earth. It was God who set him in place and equips him to rule it. That work is his calling or what should be his life's job. However, that man or woman could have gone ahead to doing a contrary job. As a matter of fact, your calling or life's work (narrowly defined) should be your job since God intends that's what should totally preoccupy you and on which you should spend your lifetime. So, beware of working and not fulfilling your calling. That's where the idea of a career comes in. Anything you're doing which is not what God meant for you as CALLING might as well be regarded as your CAREER. It's possible to be a called musician but to go on to be an accountant. Accountancy would be deemed a career for you and not your calling. However, God might give a calling to another in accountancy which if he does, it won't be regarded as following a career but fulfilling a calling. So, I'm thinking the separation between career and calling is HE WHO GIVES YOU THAT WORK TO DO! If it's not your preordained job, then it isn't your calling and you can't drive it maximally enough to its peak because you won't even be verily equipped for it. Also, you can't derive maximum satisfaction from it. God favours every work or human endeavour and He calls people into them. Every work is sanctified and blessed by Him but can you testify the work or job you're on is your own calling (given mandate from heaven) or the one you're just doing to sponsor your calling or put food on your table? That's why some of you want to leave that job or work to go fully into the one you really love. You'd better leave it or redirect your kid into the path of such that fits their calling.

PRAYER: Father, save me from misdirection. Save me from living outside my pre-ordained destiny. Give me insight not to misdirect my children.

YOUR CHILD IS CALLED BY NAME - Your Baby Series 018

Exodus 31:2, 6 KJV

"2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: 6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee"

He has a calling! Say, "my child has a calling." Yes, your child has a calling. Anyone with a definite call into a field or an area of life is one called by name into that field. Be it ministry (religion), science and technology, art and entertainment, sports, education or whatsoever, once you're led into any of these, you're called into it assuredly.

What does God tell Moses? "I have called by name Bezaleel...and Aholiab and I have filled them with wisdom in all manner of craftsmanship."

Your child is called. The first misconception about calling or placement is the error that it's only Christian ministers or priests that God do call. Every work or human endeavour is an area God do call people into. As visible as it is for every eyes to see here, God didn't call Bezaleel and Aholiab into spiritual ministry of the Word or what have you like Moses or the Levites. He called them into architecture, engineering, metallurgy, building, carpentry, blacksmithing and every form of craftsmanship that requires maximum dexterity of creativity. These guys are no ordinary guys. They are jack of all trades if you'll hear. As long as the work at hand involves craftsmanship using gold, silver, stone, timber etc, as in working with your hands to build or bring forth a tangibility, these guys can do it. I know you must have heard of such kind of people. He could do wiring, plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, tiling, painting, printing and just a host of others. You'll then begin to wonder who created him or gave him all those. Some are called to be multifaceted. Meanwhile, as you faithfully set out with the set of skills afore given you, you can have more skills or abilities imparted to you just by using maximally the ones afore given you.

The shocking thing however is that God called them by name. He identified them and separated them to a field he'll like them to be used in. Same way, your child has a calling. He's no ordinary on the surface of the earth. As soon as he's birthed, it should be your responsibility to begin to educate and communicate his destiny to him (as surely received from God).

Jeremiah was called by name to be a prophet of the living God (Jer. 1:5). What differentiates one professional from another is that they have different call. Different call will place you in different fields. However, all of you are still the called of God.

So, be filled with confidence over your child. He's meant to be great on the surface of the earth. Apart from doing God's will, God gives calling for individual fulfilment on earth. Find that calling and order (train) your child to go in that way.

PRAYER: Lord, discover for us all those you have called by name into every area of human endeavour.

BORN AND NECESSITATED BY A NEED II - Your Baby Series 017

Matthew 1:21, KJV

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

What does the Bible say about Jesus' birth and His purpose? "For He shall save His people from their sins." Not only the Jews' sins but by extension the Gentile world. This is manifested through the gospel that reached the Gentile world through Peter, Paul and others in sundry past and those He uses even now.

I told you that birth is for a need or purpose. Whether you reckon with it or not, God has a purpose in mind for which He'll be sending a human spirit to the earth if you're currently pregnant. You might not have found the reason but that was the first thing God had to settle before raising or thinking of sending a being to the earth.

He told Jeremiah, "before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." While God speaks to a well grown man, yet He takes him back to the moment that predates his birth. God predestined Jeremiah for a definite purpose that long.

If you look at Jesus indeed, He lives to save people from their sins. He achieves this when He died on the cross, rose again and ascended to the Father. Thereby, He perfects the work of redemption and grants anyone who believes in Him eternal life like He has (John 3:16). No wonder, even John the Baptist calls Him, "the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).

Another verse talking about why He was revealed in the flesh says, "...for this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8). When He accomplished redemption, He ultimately did this as well. However, Jesus did destroy the works of the devil. Wherever He goes, He scatters hell and brought the kingdom of God. The Bible speaking of this part of Him says, "the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up" (Matthew 4:16, KJV). He brought light, ministry and ministration to His immediate dying world. He moved as an itinerant minister from one place to the other preaching the gospel to the poor, recovery of sight to the blind, cleansing of lepers, raising of the dead. In short, He destroyed the works of the devil by reversing all evil the devil has done to people in His days. He continues this through the Holy Spirit who's on earth today.

The superior of His purposes is the salvation and redemption He brought to human kind. No one was born for no purpose. Mark it and mark it well. God has a purpose in mind and it'll be good to intimate and team up with Him to fulfill same.

This is the story of how Jesus was born by a need and for a need. What need? That the prophecy and promise of a seed bruising the head of the serpent might be fulfilled (Gen. 3:15). Jesus conquered Satan, principalities and powers and even death (Col.2:15, I Cor. 15:55). This is the promise that moves down the line in Mathew 1:1-17 until it found Christ on whom it was designated to rest (Gen. 3:15). Your child was born for a need. Discover and align him for same.

PRAYER: Lord, may my child not miss the need or purpose for which he was born.

BORN AND NECESSITATED BY A NEED 1 - Your Baby Series 016

Luke 1:13, 17 KJV

"13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

For years, Zacharias and Elizabeth couldn't birth a child. What baffles us is that they are blameless yet no seed comes their way. However, God keeps track record of our deeds. Just at the appearing of angel Gabriel, he tells of Zacharias' prayer having been answered and also announces the promise of a son who shall be named John.

When John was born, he was born or given for a need. That is revealed in what angel Gabriel told the dad he would do - turning the hearts of the disobedient to God and preparing a path for Jesus' coming. God doesn't give children to parents so that they can count figures or use them to boost their ego. That's carnal and a parochial way of thinking. He does rather for the sake of having vessels on earth to fulfill His own will and achieve His mandate. His kingdom has to be spread in commerce, entertainment, media, politics, sports, education etc and so He needs sons!

The need John would one day come to serve was even foretold long ago. Isaiah speaking says "the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God" (Isaiah 40:3, KJV).

God has a need and now, after looking to and fro on the earth, He has found nobody to be attracted to other than Elizabeth and Zacharias. He knows they're righteous and blameless. He knows they can train the spirit He'll send in human flesh in a way that he won't stray from the purpose of being the forerunner of Christ. John was not given only for mockers to be shut up. No! He came with a label of 'must-do.' So, if God trusts you enough and sees you're prepared and ready to meet His need somewhere, under that difficult circumstance of yours, He'll raise a seed for you.

So, what is lacking that you think is needed in our society? Where (in what field or area) do you think God needs a sent one now? If you can mark such area and like Hannah hook to God with it, you might have an answer. All in all, once God has a need to meet, He raises a human spirit from before Him to come to the earth to get it done. This is the same reason for which Jesus, the Saviour of mankind came to the earth. There was a need! May you see needs and cry to God to send men for it. Jesus tells His disciples, "the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest that He may send labourers" (Matt.9:37-38). Who will send labourers? God! You are not to recruit them. Don't make that mistake like many are doing today. Jesus said, for the need of labourers in your church or ministry, pray that the Lord of the harvest send them. Ministry is not where you place an advert for pastors. Jesus rather says what we do is to pray that they be sent to come. I pray for you that God will find you trustworthy enough to raise kids that'll take their mountains for Christ in Jesus' name. May you not have received seeds in vain from God!

PRAYER: God, I shall not disappoint your hope of raising seeds for You. Trust me! Pray for obedient spirit for your children to abide by your godly instructions.
