THOSE TO FETCH! - Helpmeet Series 006

Acts 6:3, KJV

"Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."

Deputies are blessings. But, wrong choice of deputies can cause you many harm. Your intention is to be blessed and not cursed. This lone reason should pervade and perpetuate who to choose as deputies.

It's better for a man to be alone (though needing help) than for him to have the wrong help. When God says, "it is not good that man should be alone", He coupled Adam with Eve. But not just any help, "but a helpmeet fit for him (Gen.2:18)." This is your prayer and your expectation. Any deputy you'll have who instead of meeting needs will create needs in the work doesn't worth it. It doesn't mean you won't have a reason to be useful to your deputies. Many, many reasons. Humanity is always fretted with problems and challenges and that includes you but none should be recruited to this Father's business who in the mind of God will cause the work harm.

The Bible says of the Proverbs 31 woman, "the heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil (Proverbs 31:11, KJV). This should be your testimony over your deputies. Always ask, "am I safe with them? Do I trust them? Are they trustworthy having God's fear?" Anything short of this will deal you harm and wreckage. You'll always shiver and worry for the work and sooner for your own life (in their midst).

The apostles in drawing deacons (deputies who will relieve them of their responsibilities in order to concentrate on prayer and the ministry of the Word) clearly instructs on who to draw. They are to be men whom everyone trusts (not known for cheating or any bad reputation), full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. While the number of deacons is fixed for seven here yet the workload is what will command the number to be drawn.  Don't forget, the complaint is on discrimination and how some poor widows are being neglected in the food line. This birth the need for those whom people could trust. And not only that but those who are full of the Holy Spirit. When you're full of the Holy Spirit, you'll be opened to leading and you'll be effectively led. It means, in the process of serving bread, they'll be opened to using discernment to pick any who's a deceiver and would be just at heart to justify their dealings with these poor widows. You can't bypass these deacons. If you've been allocated food or you aren't a widow, you can't lie about it. The Holy Spirit they're filled with is He who will teach them all things coupled with their wisdom to research for the truth. They have an unction from the Holy One. And then wisdom. This is what makes them sensible. It makes them able to administer practical judgement to the ease and comfort of all these poor widows. It teaches them how to act.

The moral is that anyone can't be brought to carry the ark of the Lord. It must be those designated for it. Those who are are those who have met the criteria of God in touching and doing his work. If you choose men who are not of honest report, you'll suffer harm. They can never report honestly to you. They'll be those changing figures to reenter those that fit their interest. I heard my ministry father speak of some church workers especially those in charge of the printing of a church. These men would strike deals with the printers to put down on the receipt certain inflated money as against the original cost of any done job. In the first place, these members are never disciples. They've learnt the world than Christ. To worsen the situation, the printers are as well compromisers and are now asking the delegates of my own ministry father, "how much they should enter on their receipt for their sake?" Those ones wonder what else to enter if not the exact cost. With the other brethren, this is how both share the reward of this false gain. My concern is how that leadership has been suffering harm and what harm they'll still suffer. But also, we should ask whether honesty indeed flows from the top down in their own ministry and could be visibly seen by all and sundry for emulation. In either case, be a man of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and practicable and good ways of doing things. I pray, may we all be useful in God's vineyard. May we all know that what we do is unto the Lord and not any man.

PRAYER: Lord, touch the hearts of all living in falsehood in the vineyard. Touch the heart of any causing harm on your work and reputation.

SIDE ATTRACTION IS DISTRACTION - Helpmeet Series 005

Read Judges 9:7-15

Judges 9:8, KJV

"The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the... tree, Reign thou over us."

There's one thing I have found effective to put men of great calling in trouble. It can like a rudder turn their ship to stray from its cause. It's what I've called "side attraction." The devil would flash it as attraction but in reality it is "distraction."

There's no reason to envy anyone to the extent that you forget your usefulness to picking theirs. Mature people know they're not made for every occasion. So, they stay their hands from going into what their creation, calling, equipping or training have no function for.

I know a brother who rarely forgets the birthdays of people and other special days. He'll make a good "Visitation/Welfare Coordinator." This brother would visit and visit you. He'll call and strike a conversation with you tirelessly. And for this, men would acknowledge his having being there. I know and have heard a great deal about people he has comforted just by this.  Now, it would be foolishness for another to say he'll be this brother when he has not been dealt the measure of this brother's grace to look unto the ways of others in such an unselfish manner and degree. You may like the fact that people are indebted to him but you shouldn't hastily pick that assignment up if you're not allocated or graced for it. Meanwhile, if you'll find and stick to your assignment also, you shall also have commendation of men and importantly, acknowledgement of heaven. This is what makes us parts in the body of Christ. We are many with different functions. If your hands covet being your nose and they do, you'll immediately become endangered. Staying and not breaking rank is what preserves humanity (I Cor. 12:12-27).

Jotham gave a parable. The trees needed a king and approached some reputable trees to reign over them. On each occasion that each tree is proposed to, there's a decline of the offer because each of them has already found their life long assignments. It's this they daily give themselves to. For short, they have commitment and that's the strong argument these trees used to excuse themselves from distraction.

Judges 9:9,11,13, KJV

"9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?"

"11 But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?"

"13 And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?."

Who don't know being a king avails one certain rights, power and privileges? That's a covetous position but none budged despite how tempting the offer was. They wouldn't succumb. Rather, each of them keep reminding their world of the need to stay in purpose - what they have found as lifelong commitment like the apostles said, "it's not reason that we leave the Word of God and serve tables... but we'll give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts 6:2,4). This discovery then fills their minds with enough energy, focus and vision for their assignment.

Nowadays, people don't care. They'll call it an opportunity; they'll call it the new land God is calling them to take; they'll call it the taken over of the wealth of the Gentiles. Those trees are clear. It's always "how I can leave my fatness, sweetness and cheering wine to be promoted over the trees?" How can I leave purpose to vainglory? God, affect us on our inside. Teach us that we may not be tossed to and fro by every wind of what looks attracting, interesting, promising or even intimidating but which is not our calling or ordained purpose. May we know that by our calling and purposeful life with which we've been cheering (delighting) God and have (affected, impacted) men, is our reward. May this mind always be in us that it's when we stay in/with our purpose we won't lose relevance but rather constantly hear testimonies that by us, "they honour God and men." How can they praise our Father who's in heaven unless we shine that light first of all? I pray that men shall have cause to say, "praise the Lord" for you. By the time they look back to recount what God has used you to do or touch in their lives, it would always be, "for by him" we're encouraged and this helped. It's by his usefulness we're cheered as humans and God is praised and glorified. However, only those who discover purpose, do it and continue in it ever hears that testimony. That one is a consequence of the "so shine a light." So, let your light so shine in what you have found as purpose so that words may go out on you that by your contribution has your world being touched (and that to God's glory).

Bear in mind that distraction would come. For the apostles, it camouflaged as a duty but they rather found it delegated to the deacons in order to have time for prayer and the ministry of the Word. This wisdom is what those trees also apply. Their not accepting kingship means, "the offer is kindly delegated." Find whosoever is less busy to take it. If you know your lane, you can't be called into another. It's those who are not sure and haven't seen the results of their calling (as to be well established in convinction) who gives attention to every voice that beckons to "make them king" even when they have a purpose the world is already dying for or awaits on tiptoes. God, enlighten and open our sights and hearts.

PRAYER: Lord, let me see distraction and false calling for what it is no matter how carefully disguised and wrapped.

WHEN YOU'RE INQUIRED TO YIELD THE DAINTIES OF YOUR MINISTRY - Helpmeet Series 004

Read Acts 15:1-33

Acts 15:19-20, KJV

"19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood."

A time would come that you'll be required to yield the dainties of what you say you're given to. What you're given to is what you're a rabbi in. You can't be repeatedly given to a thing and not mature in it until you're graduated into a master. We read of Asher who yields his royal dainties.

Genesis 49:20, KJV

"Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties."

You must be known for something and that's what you produce!

There are things that are the products of our diligence, persistence, mastery or having given ourselves to things like prayer and the ministry of the Word. Many ministries anyway there be! A time would come I say when what we say we do and have given ourselves to would be sought and needed to be benefited from. That day must prove your day if indeed you've given yourself to it.

In today's reading, Paul and Barnabas were sent by the church at Antioch to find out what's acceptable for the church in Antioch to believe amidst the flying around teaching in town that "if you're not circumcised after the manner of Moses, you can't be saved (v.1). This school even when disputed with by Paul and Barnabas (v.2) rather leaves the brethren in  confusion of which to really believe, uphold and practice. For these reasons were Paul and Barnabas sent back to Jerusalem to find out from the source - men Jesus directly discipled and gave the ministry of prayer and the Word (to feed His lamb) to which to believe of the two being said.

The response of the apostles or what is called the Jerusalem Council immediately proves that indeed, when the apostles said they'll give themselves to the ministry of the Word and prayer in Acts 6, they indeed did same. It isn't that they went to sleep. The reward of having laboured at a particular time is to be able to enter rest another time. That proves for the apostles. When the matter was tendered, though some amidst them who are of the Pharisees contended it yet Peter wasted no time on the need "not to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither their fathers nor them were able to bear? (Acts 15:7-11)." These Pharisees only wanted the Jews to be as they are but there's a cultural difference. Circumcision came prior to the law and that was at Abraham's time. It's a step to being God's people. But, should that still count now even for the salvation of the Gentiles? Peter and James gave the right answers which consequently is having effect on those of us who are Gentiles today. Immediately, it shows some people have been gazing into the perfect law of God than others or are more yielding to the Spirit.

Later on, James speaks more authoritatively on the matter. Like a judge called to give the final verdict, he says, "and this is my sentence..." Imagine that! Who gives a sentence that he's not sure of? Who gives a sentence or declare a conclusion/resolution over what he has not first thought about and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to him on? So, when James says, "and this is my sentence" and vomited same, we're immediately hinted what good it does one to have being committed to his ministry. It'll allow you to answer a long or tough question in brief moment to the awe of all. You'll make tactical decisions under God easily. It'll make you have a ready answer at hand for anyone and everyone who request of you the hope in you.

Indeed, when the brethren agreed to what Peter and James said and author a letter to that effect, when read, the entire church rejoiced and found consolation in it. Did you see how quick the confused and some who might have heeded that doctrine were quickly recovered? That's because some didn't leave the ministry of the Word to serve tables. If they have left or have ran both together, their profit wouldn't have been this revealed for all to see.

You see, someone will one day benefit from the fact that you have ample time to pray until you have assurance of prayer that your own prayer always command answers even if they are muttered. So, when we should give (without holding back ourselves) to what would make our usefulness experienced, let us. What you have time for is what you can sharpen and take to its topmost height of usefulness and calling.

PRAYER: Lord, I clear myself of distraction to be taught of the Holy Ghost as I study the Bible.

WHAT THEY CALL MINISTRY! - Helpmeet Series 003

Acts 6:3-4, KJV

"3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."

What's the response of the apostles to the need for fair distribution between the Grecians and the Hebrews? Their response isn't that it's no matter but that, "they've been given, lent, sold out already to a cause." It is this saying that announces their unavailability to take the other role being availed them by opportunity.

Let me ask, "what is ministry?" I'll say "it's something to give oneself to." In responding to their need and satisfactorily answering them, they said, "look ye out for seven men...but we'll give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word." So, the preaching (and consequently the teaching of the word) is a ministry? Whoa! Wow! What an opening! So, it's a thing to give oneself to? So, it's a thing to be sold out totally to? So, it's a thing to make one's life? So, it's a thing serious enough as to collect one's whole time? I'll say it is. It's this discovery of having being occupied and consumed without remnant or availability that made the apostles say, "look ye out for seven men...but we'll give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word." Off course, they'll give themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word which ahead of time they've had the practice of giving and dedicating themselves to. Meanwhile, this fresh saying is just to serve as a commitment to a fresh proposal and a solver of doubt if queried as to what they'll be spending their time on. No wonder, the Bible says some elders are worthy of double honour.

I Timothy 5:17, KJV

"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."

Would it say they are if the ministry of the word is not something you give yourself to and yet something that swallows and occupies wholly its host and his time? We all know whatsover we give ourselves to is what will use us and our time the most (and the best). If that be, the Bible declares that they are worthy of double honour for having laboured in the Word. Searching the scriptures by reading, studying or researching for correctness and alignment in order to order men's lives is hardwork and sure a thing that could collect your whole time and life.

Only few ever knows what it wholly means to labour in the Word and doctrine. And then, only very few knows what it means to labour in doctrine (though they know what it means to labor in the Word). When you labour in the doctrine, you first labour to search out what has been spoken out of the mouth of one and then affirmed by another (making two) or more witnesses as fit for practice and whole to order living. It can't become a belief or tenet if we can't at least trace it to two or more places in the Bible. After setting this forth, then you contend for it that it is retained by often teaching it, desiring and having men to do it because God by his repetition of it and giving it to us sees it fit that by it we live our lives by afore recommending same. The hardest part of that is seeing men do it as one generation goes and another comes. Some changes and U-turn may want to be effected to it but it becomes the sole responsibility of those "elders" who are called to labour in the word and doctrine - (what men may live and pattern their lives by) to continually teach and repeatedly teach it in order to align the path of the strayed as they also rebuke false teachers and setter forth of false doctrines. This is where contention for faith comes in (Jude 1:3).

Also, they were to give themselves to prayer like Anna who dedicated herself to prayer and fasting (Lk.2:37). When you give yourself to prayer, you pray it without ceasing. You take it as a profession. If not, the apostles won't be able to build shield and hedge in the spirit round the flock the Holy Ghost made them overseer over. You'll just begin to hear that Brother A died and sister B is kidnapped and then without recovery. The devil will just be playing games on their soccer field but once prayer becomes their profession and ministry also, they'll purchase lives with it and the centre would hold. When Peter was kept in prison but prayer was made without ceasing for him typifies making prayer a profession or work. It's at that level you'll have some breakthroughs that only making prayer a profession could have delivered (Acts 12:5).

Imagine such hardwork. Would you not have the disciples not becoming servers with this? If they do, would they have the time to pray, search and research the Bible for truth and doctrine to be set forth for practice. Won't men rather gain say over them and many souls be lost to false doctrine because of their neglect? They'll rather be held accountable by God for giving ground for false teachers to rise in the absence of truth and have their flock. Being masters, they'll not have been excused but rather judged with a stricter standard indeed. God would not have understood them at all neither would they have heard, "welcome o faithful servant into your reward."

I ask you once more, if they had given themselves to serving tables, where would they get the ample time to find out truth to teach and time to pray? How will they know the biblical way to settle a dispute and when to indeed leave a man to himself? How, if not by studying to find out? How will they know this and many more? It's to have time for this prayer and the ministry of the Word that made it a necessity having deputies - the chosen seven. So, we thank God for those who relieved our apostles of their burdens as to be able to hold the centre of the calling. Thank you deputies! You're making it happen.

PRAYER: Lord, restore the vision of lead men that are lost. Call them to priority. Give them intercessors and good deputies.

THANK GOD FOR DEPUTIES! - Helpmeet Series 002

Read Acts 6:1-7

Acts 6:2, KJV

"Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables."

Today, God wants us thank Him for all deputies. Today, I'm thanking God for deputies. Yes, for having being privileged to serve in many capacities in the ministry and outside it as a deputy, I say thank you Lord. Also, for any who was my assistant, who's my assistant and would be my assistant, I glorify God on your behalf.

The roles of deputies are important. If you don't know, it's not easy taking orders or act on the instructions of others. So, if you have any deputy there (irrespective of their field of practice), you ought pray for them and open your treasure to specially appreciate them. Oh Lord, we thank you for deputies. All deputies who are serving in their different capacities.

In today's reading, a matter that could break ministry which has to do with discrimination is brought to the apostles. They'll have it attended to. Meanwhile, they deem it fit not to leave God's Word to serving tables. They refuse to be lured and distracted away. There's a priority attached to God's Word and the teaching of it. They are the ones Jesus commanded to "feed His lamb." It becomes their responsibility and everything must be cleared out of the way that could jeopardize this responsibility and their discharge of the Word of God. They'll rather advise one thing. "Let's get deputies!"

Acts 6:3, KJV

"Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."

Did you read, "seven men of honest report...whom we may appoint over this business?" Let's ask, "who will do the appointing?" That tells you into whose hands the work is custodied. When that complaint is brought, the disciples are immediately saddled with a new responsibility of seeing to the fair distribution of food. Meanwhile after a search, they resolve it wise to hand this over to specific people so that they might be able to discharge their primary duties unhindered. Why do we have to thank God for deputies? Because they bear burdens with the lead man. The deacons that are chosen here relieve the apostles at the centre of their work. It's their work which is why they seek to "appoint men over it." While the seven were drew from the pool of disciples and fetched by the brethren, yet it isn't without the acknowledgement of the apostles - for they laid hands on them. By accepting to serve in the capacity of a deacon, they relieve them and gave them ample time to be able to look into the perfect law of God and as well give attention to prayer. We should be grateful to any accepting responsibility on our behalf so we can do ours maximally unhindered. If you're a mother, you should appreciate your baby minder for this. They are your deputies. Any who's doing your job for you yet in your zeal and jealousy is indeed worthy of your applause. Be mindful that when the apostles need deputies, it's because there's an overflow of job which they can't annex with theirs, else they'll risk ineffectiveness. Not only that would have been a consequence but many strange doctrines and teachings would have developed once the apostles don't have time to author what Jesus taught and God would have men believe and be instructed by. People would just begin to be their own judge and do as they deem fit. These are all the dangers that proceed from leaving the Word to serving tables. Anybody could propound anything and it'll hold since where people expect to hear and be ordered from has been jettisoned. It's this that brings about the delegation of duty to capable and qualified hands they have sought. If not for these seven deacons, what time would the disciples have to study the Word of God, teach it and instruct from the centre what must be practiced as taught them by Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

Oh, today, we're remembering and blessing God for Brothers Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch who were found to accept responsibility as deputies thereby freeing the time of the apostles to attend to the Word by which men are instructed and by which we now have the apostolic foundation. Thank you to you and your likes. Your labour of love can't go unrewarded because God is not unjust as to forget it. In that you've ministered and you're still ministering to the saints, God shall strengthen, anoint and enable you for more. Your physical needs shall be met and your days shall be a manifestation of long life and God's salvation on earth. Thank you deputies!

PRAYER: Pray that God will make you a helpmeet (a deputy) to any in need. Pray for all deputies to be more encouraged and truly esteemed.

WHO WILL I DEPUTIZE TO? - Helpmate Series 001

Read II Samuel 15:1-6

2 Samuel 15:3-4, KJV

"3 And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. 4 Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!"

It's a blessing to have who to deputize to. I found out that the complex world has called for a complex man yet no man is ever complex as to take more than he should take. Except he will break down or take more than he can swallow until his inefficiency is revealed to all to see, no one will therefore dare going beyond their breaking point. For indeed, there's a 'lawful breaking point' for all creatures where if they stretch or stress themselves, they might be extincted or bring the reputation of inefficiency on themselves. You should seek not to exercise or stress yourself beyond this breaking point. This is no message to condone laziness but rather a teaching on how to save, conserve and utilize humanity (in their concentration and field) to the highest - so they could ever be useful to themselves, world and be ever remembered to have lived a landmark life. Nobody ever lives a landmark life where he doesn't have time to service. It's your dedication to it that'll make you be the rare producer or revealer of what your world would celebrate. So, you need men to ease you of other things that are important but could become distraction to you when it's your work time. A woman may have a baby but necessity may bear on her to let nannies take responsibility on her behalf for the fulfilment of certain obligations. It doesn't mean she'll forever be an absentee mother. It's always for a meanwhile.

When a fellow marries, he immediately has one to deputize to. A bachelor who does cooking before may not do so often but rather begin to use that time being saved by his wife for other things that could profit their family. It may be spent on more reading, studying and work (of career or calling). The wife is assured that she's not being cheated and made a slave of anywhere because it isn't that the husband is idle with the time being saved for him. She knows that any prosperity from the calling or career the man is pouring himself to and has ample time to give himself to (because she's accepting some responsibility for him) would be both theirs to benefit. In this way, there won't be fear or any railing accusation that, "I am working but you're watching. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop."

It's therefore a great blessing if you have someone to deputize to. They'll help your life and elongate it for you. They'll ensure you're effective on what you should stay on because you're not taking on too much that'll reduce your effectiveness. Why many ministers or career people suddenly collapse, fall sick or die is because they overwork themselves or take more than they should. You're not made of steel and so should know your extent. While laziness should be frowned at, yet you must learn how to save, conserve and preserve yourself so that on what you're allocated or given to, you may be efficient and not suffer reduction in efficiency because you've spread yourself so thin to every place and everywhere. I'll rebuke laziness for it's written that "cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood" especially in the ministry. Yet I'll encourage a total release of each of us to what we say God sent us here for.

I believe there's a thing called calling. It becomes your "specialization" once found. It's what you have found to do for life. Ensure your greatest time is saved and used for that. So, it's good if you find others to accept responsibility for you in other areas outside that so your benefit could be revealed to all men while doing that calling. The Bible admonishes us to give diligence to make our calling and election sure (II Pet.1:10). On what are you called to give diligence? On what you've found to be your life's job. If you ever know what diligence is, you'll agree it's hardwork, focus, concentration and sacrifice. It also means spending one's best time and effort on that thing and in that thing. So, I ask, where will one find time for other 'trivial' things except you have someone to accept responsibility for you there? While this has made some push all their responsibilities on people because they are seeking to fulfill a side, yet we shouldn't be like the unturned cake (Hosea 7:8). I'll never neglect child training because of my calling. While my wife may be available more than I do (save me by being my representative to them where I can't extend at a definite time), yet it won't be because of my inattention they'll be turned to become debauched children. Paul says this to Timothy.

I Timothy 4:15, KJV

"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all."

It means your profiting may not appear to all unless you give yourself wholly to your calling too. And how can you give yourself wholly, fully, completely (in hundred percent so to say) to your calling if not to find men to cover you and accept responsibility for you so that you might concentrate and work on your calling - what the world would know you with? May you always find deputies when it matters!

PRAYER: Lord, may I be a good deputy where I serve and a succourer of many.

AND WHEN HE HAD SPENT ALL - Violator Series 006

Luke 15:14, KJV

"And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want."

"And when he had spent all", the Bible records concerning the prodigal son, "there arise a mighty famine in that land." Poverty or need feasts on lack and continuous lack.

Money or resources is the fuel that the natural man survives on. Our transaction in this world is based on the money you have and the goods you could exchange with it. There are so many earth goodies that could lure your money away from you. That happens to the prodigal son until it's said of him to have spent all. My concern is that he forgets tomorrow. God is however very concerned with your remembering that living continues after today. Many times, we humans do comfortably hope that "as it has been is how it'll be. If I have, I'll always have." No law assures that if you're foolish with what you have currently. No two season is the same also. The truth is that you should ever be anticipating the future. This is what makes the wise to give thought to the carrying of extra oil. It's not every time that extra oil would be needed because the bridegroom might not always delay everytime but you should ask, "what if he does?" It's this "unforseen contingency" which could be unleashed on the world in form of sack, accident, inflation e.t.c. that should make you arm yourself with an extra oil and take caution on how you admnister your resources.

When the "bridegroom" tarries somewhere one time, the foolish virgins couldn't help it any longer. Since salary has delay to drop at its usual time, they're already spent and needed help (Matthew 25:5,8). Their not having prepared ahead of time by anticipating what time could come on them made them go in search of oil at the late hour. While it's necessary to help yet the wise won't share their own resources with them because they yet don't know if it'll be sufficient for both of them.

Matthew 25:9, KJV

"But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."

And I'll say, the future I can't predict, I won't live it boastfully or carelessly. It also sounds wise to minimize the casualty if there'll be any at all instead of rendering everybody a victim of a bad decision or lack of foresight that there might be delay. Until you have an assurance that what you have with you would take you through, don't freely disburse. Herein is not where to live by faith because you afore time didn't earn same by faith and if you do, you're not under obligation to throw it away. Unless you're constrained by the Holy Ghost, you don't have to sacrificially give. The woman of Zarephath gave to Elijah when he said, "make me first." Though it was her last meal, she made first for Elijah because of the heart pulling she might have had. There's a propelling and an assurance that she had that this would be a worthy sowing (that would yield a return). Did God not afore tell Elijah that he'll send him to Zarephath where he has commanded a widow woman to sustain him (I Kings 17:9). So, you should ask, "when did God command this woman to open up to Elijah." And I hope you know what a command is. A command is a decree. It's forceful and lives you with no obligation. That's the voice this woman heard before acting despite knowing, "that's her last meal." Now, let me ask you, "having known what you have could only be sufficient for you, why should you make for another when you're not being instructed." That ain't that you're stingy or that you've sinned if you couldn't accommodate a neighbour. God will look pass your action to seeing the purpose of it. You don't want to be stranded. Why each is told to prepare for his own house is so that each would survive on their own but if there's need to lean on another, you should bear that they're not under obligation except they're commanded or naturally deems it fit. So, I'll say stop giving emotionally. Somebody could have defrauded me if I were looking at his look and outlook to determining giving to him. Rather, submit to being led. The Holy Ghost knows where needs are and those who have needs. He'll lead you to give to those places as Jesus would have things administrated. Some who were being restrained from giving have also gave where they shouldn't and so begin to witness mix ups that are only the works of the devil.

The record is, "and when he had spent all..." When and how did he get here? It's actually a long process down the line but eventually he got there because of continuous spending. Let's not ask what he spends money on. As long as it isn't what could generate him more resources, he had wasted it all. If he bought a thing that's good, not criminal or sinful to own but yet couldn't put it to work at such hard time, then he didn't spend well. Those that'll be in want or those that'll begin to cry out to others to help meet their needs are those who have spent all and have no choice but to seek the hands of others. Meanwhile, by being a discrete manager of resources, by sending money where he should go and by reproducing it, you can continually wax valiant in "fight" and not have the testimony to have run down before the  appointed time. Those who will survive the financial armageddon or famine on the way are those who haven't spent all but have a witness against that day.

PRAYER: Teach me to reserve, invest and reproduce some.
