HE KNOWS WHERE IT IS HAPPENING - Lead and Feed Series 002

Read I Kings 17:1-16

Psalms 23:2, KJV

"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters."

If you've been relying on God to live your life previously (even though you work), as you see God shows up where you've trusted Him, it would build you up in your inner man to trust Him the more. You must start as to grow in the faith of trusting God to meet your needs. Many Christians only have their needs met through their own income or the labour of their hands. They don't till the other side where the Shepherd could send men to them or send them to men. God knows where it is happening and if you show total reliance on Him and consult Him before you move any day, any time, He'll lead you to where the food of the day, tomorrow or the future is. This is done in what choices and decisions He'll guide you to make which will consequently preserve you. The vultures are birds of prey and they only gather where the carcass is. If these birds have enough common sense to opt only for where food is, will God in His infiniteness not care enough leading you to where what you call want will be nailed and fixed. He knows where the green pasture is and He sure leads there. Let Him lead the way. God is the One who should be believed as totally having the ability to ordain our path with goodness. You can't orchestrate it. A praying Christian is a boneless Christian actually. The more anyone prays reveals his dependence on God. His dependence on God is what will make God adopt him and make him the sheep of His pasture. God won't force leadership on you. You must submit yourself and prove to be ready.

After the decree of Elijah, the man of God that there'll neither be dew or rain, God knew He'll be endangered by his own prophecy. Immediately, the Word of the Lord came to him. The first was for him to depart to Brook Cherith before Jordan. God told him he had commanded the ravens to feed him there. You see, Elijah had to leave "here" for "there." He had to be led to where God had discovered the next move to be for him. "Gold mines" of provision may be hidden to men's sight but God knows it even when disguised in a small setup that you wouldn't find comfortable to work in. There won't be food, there won't be water but God can still locate where water would be for His own. When God leads you somewhere, He prepares the ground before you. It wasn't Elijah who instructed the ravens to bring him food. He had no language to set forth communication with them. God did. They were awaiting his arrival and at arrival, they swiftly went into business.

Not long however, the brook dried up. This is where we test if leading is real. What happens again? God's instruction came again. Depart to Zarephath for I have commanded a widow to sustain you there. On each occasion, Elijah survived on instructions, on being led and on obeying it. It is God who sees the vision of tomorrow. That's why He might come to work from your future into your present now. Let God help you to make choices and decisions. Each one you make right seals you against any inroad of the devil into your life. The devil is an opportunist. He's looking around to get into people's lives by the cracks left there. If God tells you not to take a job, it is because He has a premonition of things yet to happen even if all makes sense now. We humans live at the present at best but with God, you have a search engine and full light to see into the future. It is this that'll preserve you, break the back of needs and makes you look like a wonder to many. For as many who will wait on God before they make any turn, their lives can never be a revelation of mockery even if they're thought to be slow by people at the moment. An instruction correctly received and heeded to make a choice puts you ahead a thousand times of he who lives his life naturally. When the flood comes, we'll see who will float!

PRAYER: Teach me waiting on Thee. May I live on daily words from You. I float. I'm sustained.

THOSE WHO SAY THE LORD IS THEIR SHEPHERD - Lead and Feed Series 001

Read Psalm 23

Psalms 23:1,KJV

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Brethren, many deceive themselves too much. Many Christians (born again) are not actually being led. The confession of Psalm 23 do not immediately make you he who won't be in want - desire for a particular need to be met over time continuously yet not met. It is the fulfilling of it that will put God under obligation of seeing to it that even if you have needs, it never stays long enough till it'll really be felt that you're in want because your needs are not met. That's disgrace! Many would say, "the Lord is my shepherd." I'll say, 'and so what?" What difference does that makes. Confession doesn't buy you God's commitment like that. There are many who call God good, good names without good, good things to show for it. You may be calling He Who you don't know (as a Shepherd) and He Who doesn't know you (as a sheep). Those who have made God the spearhead of their lives, so much more that He has indeed become their shepherd because they let Him be are those who only have the clear conscience and all necessary qualification to await the coming into manifestation of "I shall not want." God knows the sheep of His pasture!

Who's a shepherd? He's a guide, a leader, feeder and protector. That's why the ministry of a pastor is that of a shepherd. It is the responsibility of any shepherd to ensure that his sheep are led where they'll be fed and by that subsequently stop being in want or need of pasture (grass).  Any reasonable human shepherd cares that much enough for his sheep. So, if you make claim that the Lord is your shepherd, it means you must have become a sheep. A sheep doesn't argue or has its own initiative. That's why sheep have been taken by those who don't really understand their meekness for being the dumbest of animals. They don't take laws into their hands. Until the shepherd says, "that side" and sways them their with his staff, no one goes. They await what He'll say by which they govern their lives, families, careers, ministries and all their wherewithal. They don't run until they hear his shot. That's why Jesus says that His sheep hears his voice (John 10:4). There ought not to be a sheep who won't be able to hear the voice of his shepherd. His communication must be clear to them. Will you have a pet who can't discern you from strangers?

Now, if indeed you've become a sheep to God, the Shepherd, then you're qualified for feeding. Leading is the first discharge of a shepherd to his sheep. It isn't feeding. Leading is the transportation that will take you to the location where the carcass is. If I may tell you, don't think you know it. Some Christians always love the peripherals. What delights flesh is solely what they want. They desire a "bless me God" and not an "instruct me God." Can we collect one from God and hope not to be served the other? Stop joking. That's why God first of all created a prerequisite to being fed. It is being led. Those who have not submitted to being shepherded are out of plans of ever being fed let alone never being in want. I hope you know there are thirsty wants - where someone will hope and hope yet he's still hoping that the thing will drop and yet it's not dropping until they get disgraced, tired, left behind by the community of other people etc. Have you qualify for His leading? Do you consult Him on all areas of your life? Even without opening your mouth to pray at times, do you carry the consciousness that, "I'll do as He bids or reveals to me on this matter", or you just live your life on your own. The Shepherd is not looking for rude, impatient Christians. He's looking for meek, submissive ones. If you're a child of God, the mark is that you have an inbuilt system of hearing God in you. That means you're opened to God's communication because your spirit has been regenerated (John 1:12, Rom.8:14). But what if He withholds communicating to you at times, do you ask Him perterm how you should go? The job you said yes to, the business you began, the relocation you did, the hospital and school you registered your wife and children in, of whom did you seek consent and who released you to do same? When people don't confirm things, they go into things they'll later become doubtful over and pull out from. Waiting on God until He speaks or begins to make situations work out in your favour which you'll later see and acknowledge as a by product of having sought God is what God is calling you to. If you pray to God, even if you have more than an offer, He can lean them down to the one you should pick for you. God is the One who knows the heart of all men. He differentiates between Mathias and Barsabas at all times. It is not always He'll direct you where they'll pay you less but He solely determines "your still waters" - where you'll have maximal peace and still be useful to Him. Are you saying that God won't know the spouse, location etc that will suit you? Today, God is calling you to humble humility to first of all see reasons why you've continually being indebted, always being in want and entering one trouble or the other. It is because He's actually not your shepherd practically. He's technically since you're born again but how you live, relate and acknowledge Him will show whether He is really or you're just honouring with your mouth.

PRAYER: Father, forgive my having accused you of being my Shepherd when you've not been but I've expected you to provide. Help my dedication to daily let you have your way in my living and choices.

WHAT A SACRIFICE FOR MY LORD! - My Lord Series 002

1 Chronicles 11:17, KJV

"And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

Once you become a leader who has built reputation with men, one whose life of sacrifice has become an example and by same made disciples of men, you'll always be prompting men to follow in your footsteps. David only longed for water and then made the mistake of soliloquizing his desire. He thought it would just slip but his desire became a request and an errand for some to carry out. Mind you, David didn't say they should go and fetch him water. He only desired drinking water from that well in all honesty but never said it out in order to compel them. When it was heard however, some put their lives at risk to fetch him.  Yet, where the water is located is where a military post is. How easy it would be getting water from the garrison of the enemy.

1 Chronicles 11:18, KJV

"And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD."

Now, "they break through" means they fought their way through. To arrive at that water was not easy but they fought a whole troop of soldiers to have it fetched in order to meet the longing of David. Leadership has worth and we can't lie about it. David himself had exemplified a life of sacrifice many times and it isn't a surprise that some are now willing to die to make him have his wishes. Be careful of what you're unserious about because it may become the errand of some. One day, I just confessed to myself taking "garri." Before you knew it, they had gone to prepare food for me. And with all sincerity, it was not straight up food I wanted to eat but just that "garri." Once you're a beloved and you have series of work that speaks for you, men would always be willing to go the extra mile for you and even give you better than you might ask for. We saw it in yesterday's devotional. Sisera asked for water but he was given milk.

What did David therefore do with that water? He poured it away. He wouldn't drink it. He himself was made afraid by the acts of these three mighty men. If he had taken it, he would have been taken their blood. At times, what people do for leaders is what reveals them as those who indeed cherish them truly. Until then, they may only be smelling the smoke of it. The same goes with God. You can build such distinguishing relationship of importance with Him that your wishes send angels on errands. It would be at arrival that you'll be telling God, "but I didn't mean it." He'll tell you, "anything for you because that's how much I cherish you." What those three mighty men jeopardized their lives to do for David is a revelation of the kind of sacrifice made for leaders. May God however make us humble and discerning leaders to know what sort to "pour unto the Lord" and not take as honour to ourselves.

PRAYER: Teach me a life of sacrifice that compels others to live same. May I not be a covetous leader who jeopardize his followers.

THE PRIVILEGES OF A LORD - My Lord Series 001

Judges 5:25, KJV

"He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish."

I've heard people say to shame others "they're giving some people special privileges." On what ground should we ask that because men can't but be treated with dignity in accordance with their achievements in their life vocation? If you've laid years of years down to serve and become something in your vocation, will you because of what people would say refute the privileges that may be accorded you from your life of sacrifice? Even Jesus rode a colt while his disciples and the multitude walked on foot (Matt.21:7-8). That's not inhumanity or the enslaving or colonizing of some weak people. If you're in the academic world for instance, I'm very sure that there'll be honours that'll be done a professor that students and even other junior lecturers will look forward to. They'll be distinguished because of who each has become by his time. This is how life was wired. Reward system was built into life by God. It's in nature itself. "Whatsoever you sow you shall reap" is a statement that enforces the rewarding system or cycle (Gal. 6:7).

The honour done Sisera is a befitting honour. She was entertained in a lordly dish because he's a lord himself. How would you treat a commander of an army, one you know is not of a mean status? This man bears the marks of many wars on him. He has testimonies for having been a warrior. He might have even lost a finger or an eye. There were moments he was scarcely killed but salvation came. He has built such a name that even Israel, Deborah and Barak didn't have to beat around to know. The treatment of him must therefore go in accordance with his sacrifice and dedication to his profession. That act is part of the motivation built into the human society that if the upcoming do not relent, they shall have their fair of being served in a lordly dish as befitting a lord. God may love all of us all equally but He remunerate us differently and that on our sacrifice and labour of love even in His vineyard (Heb.6: 10). Your work is what will answer for you.

PRAYER: Grant me the persistence that makes a master. I shall do it till reward.

THOSE WHO LOOK AT THE SKY OR WEATHER TO PROPHESY

Ecclesiastes 11:4, KJV

"He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap."

Many there be in Christendom who are not waiting on the Holy Spirit. Who the Holy Spirit is to them isn't real or let's say they haven't learnt Him and His outworking. Some have found themselves in ministry and with pressure either from people or daily necessities to know God's mind have substituted the path for the pseudo they created out of convenience or tradition of men. In short, these are those who look at the sky or weather to prophesy. They are not being led, prompted or stirred by the Holy Spirit into teaching, speaking or the doing of one act or the other. Even when they respond to people's enquiries or searches, they look at every humanly possible ongoings, make judgements from those and then offer a response. So, they eventually become false prophets fit for condemnation.

The Lord told me and I heard. "Woe unto any who looks unto the sky or weather to prophesy. They shall not only slip but be disappointed!" "Prophesy" there means "to act." He that observes the wind shall not sow and he that observes the cloud shall not reap. The "wind" and the "cloud" are two natural phenomena or elements. We can gather that something will happen by them - when they're at work. They are even one of the best ways to naturally read that it might rain. When the cloud gathers obviously, one might judge by that it would rain. This is the addition of 2+2 which gives 4. But that's human calculation based on happenings in the environment which our intellect has picked or could add up. That it is cloudy doesn't always mean it would rain. Now, let us assume you're such a fellow who bases his deeds on the judgements of things round him before acting, how prosperous would you be? You'll embrace the evil, miss the good and be hindered from the best many times. For example, the election is coming in Nigeria. You'll hear some prophets begin to prophesy that it is this or that who will win. Many times, they do so having known the reputation, years of experience, cunningness, popularity etc of the fellow they're predicting. Those are actually the things they're counting on to win him the election and not because "God really says." So, they watch, take a roll call, call the numbers first of all and then use their little human mind to say, "this is what would happen. This is my choice. God's choice." God has a surprise for people of your like.

Christians are to live on instructions. They're to leave from inside out and not outside in. There's no guarantee that a thing would happen or won't gathered from any other source that holds water except God tells you "yes" or "no." I wonder why people aren't afraid. When you do your 2+2, is there not a part of you witnessing "you did this yourself. It's a guess work and it could fail" to you. Being occasional falling in line at times doesn't make you right because you'll know if none knows how you derived your answer. God is therefore calling us to real Christianity of not judging by ongoing daily activities around us to act but of leveraging on the "words of His own mouth (Matt.4:4)." Esteem the words of His mouth more than your daily necessary food (Job 23:12). He who watches the sky to act is he who won't go to reap because he'll believe it would rain. Whenever it doesn't rain, he can't but waste that day, that moment or hour which if he had been led, he'll never have been under fear or doubt of "likeliness of rain." Such also miss right timing and the beautiful time of each thing God ordains to be done in their calendars. It is better to be led than doing vain, doubtful calculation that you're not confident about. Obtain your results and let your acts come from He who created the cloud. When it will or will not rain, He knows and He is the best one to tell you whether to carry a step despite what the weather might be revealing or not. You may be looking at the economy of your country and so not invest, build or carry some steps. But if you were to ask God, He might tell you to launch out and that resources will come. Even in famine, Isaac sowed in the land and reaped hundred fold. Previously, he was watching his natural circumstances to act. So, he had gathered himself to travel to Egypt. However, God saved him from transgression and directed him to live by His own words. When others saw him stay back, they might have wondered at his foolishness but every action prompted by God's mouth or leading can't but be that of wisdom. People will soon be surprised to ask you "how, how?"

PRAYER: Lord, may I not be cursed for impersonating you to have spoken when you've not. May all my acts proceed from you in waiting and gathering.

MY PRAYER FOR YOU

Read Exodus 17:8-13

Genesis 49:23-24, KJV

"23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: 24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)"

God, this is the kind of help I need from you because I know life will battle me and I must battle it! Winning is undebatable. Aren't you praying the same? How could the bow of Joseph still remain firm though the archers were constantly at him grieving him? So, despite all, he remains stable, untattered and never doused. The billows of life will beat. Temptation shall come. Persecution shall arise. Will your bow still abide in strength? Will your faith withstand the test or you'll backslide? Some Christians couldn't weather the economy so they begin to join the heathen to gain from the spoil of bribery and corruption. God is here to make you see that human endurance or will can't trek long distance except he is supernaturally aided. While it is part of the gifts of the Spirit to have long-suffering yet we know that all human beings have their breaking point. That Joseph was never broken was because God made his arm strong. So much more that it looked he was never wearied or thought once of giving up. What God does is that even if you near the breaking point, you won't still break. You will always return, recover and stay on in the fight. You remember Moses on the hill. He was holding his rod. For as long as he is unweary, Israel keeps winning. Whenever he tires and the rod falls below, the Amalekites ruins them. To prevent this, a stone was put for him to sit while Aaron and Hur were given him to help steady his hand. Why would the hands of Moses begin to go down? He was wearied. There's nothing so strong about human endurance. Each of us has our breaking point. However, you may have the testimony of "not ever beaten" though "severally threatened."

Don't forget, archers are frustrators. They begin with Joseph when they got intimidated and jealous of his future. He was sold into slavery with the believe that they shall see how those his dreams shall come to pass. However, it didn't end there. At Egypt, he was sold to Potiphar. God being with him, he became head of the slaves. Not long, Joseph was accused of rape, not of a maiden in the house but the madam. That's how he was hauled into jail. Now, why didn't Joseph break down (visibly to all eyes to see) despite all these series of events? Why did it seems he persisted until he fulfilled his destiny? It even never showed David had a rough day to our minds because he was eventually victorious. It may all the same look as if he only cruised through life to that height. The reason is simple. God was the one who made his bow to be steadied. I know some of you are fans of action movies. You must have watched movies on battles of arrows. When archers are shooting arrows, it makes sense to dodge and fire back. That's why they use the shield. The imagery being portrayed here of Joseph however is that of Moses holding a staff but the staff in Joseph's case remains steady despite the rigour. Don't forget, when Aaron and Hur assisted Moses, his arm was steadied also. The same way, God assisted Joseph to steady his bow and make his arm strong. How? By giving him breaks. One, after being sold by his brother who have the belief of his having been forever forsaken, we were told God was with him and he quickly found favour with Potiphar and became the head of his house. Isn't that good news? He's still a slave but one with dignity and hope of a good tomorrow. Break two came when he was hauled into prison by the grieving of another archer but kept hope alive that the butler would mention him to Pharaoh. So, God orchestrated and built into Joseph's journey resting points. This made his bow to be steady and his arm strong to handle the next challenge to come.

I once visited "Idanre Hills" in Ondo State, Nigeria. The hills have 682 steps from the ground with five resting places when I visited. Why the resting places? It's for tourists to make a stop, catch their breath before continuing their climbing. That's exactly what God did for Joseph. If not, who's that man who archers, grievous archers would face and won't break. Frustration of the soul can make one say, "enough is enough. I have tried." May you not justify yourself to your failure. However, God made Joseph look like a wonder to the world. So much more that when his brothers finally meet him, they wondered how he made it. Slavery was not seen upon him. He has not been singed. They never knew it was God's doing and provision that made him such a strong incollapsable building. If it were human strength, he'll have entered into the point if no return. But whenever he nears it, hope always shine for him to encourage him that, "and there's an expected end." Who am I sent to as God's anointed prophet today? I declare that you'll withstand every grievous archers' doings. Is it jealousy, petty envy, hatred, persecution or even enchantment, you shall become outstanding and victorious because He who strengthened Joseph's arm shall strengthens yours. You may indeed experience those things but your covenant position is "when you pass through the water, it shall not overwhelm you and through the fire, it shall not kindle on you (Isa. 43:2)."

PRAYER: Lord, steady me against what life, the economy, politics and the state of my nation may throw at me. Also against what enemy of destiny and dreams may do.

YOUR TENDER BRANCH WILL NOT CEASE - It's Been Awhile Series 003

Read Job 14:7-11

Job 14:9, KJV

"Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant."

Did you receive that prophetic declaration at all? Your tender branch will not cease! "Tender" there denotes "newness." Day by day, a living tree will keep bringing forth new branches, new leaves and new fruits. This testifies of its continuity and its ever producing ability. It never runs out of stock or what it was created to do. Season or man's deed  may disrupt it but if some conditions are met, it will always continue performing like the former days. Look, even if life becomes contrary and it seems all has been lost, you'll always make a come back. Continuous existence is your covenant position. You will not cease being productive! Let them plan your overthrow, you'll still come back to head them. You will not cease being seen. Your products will always be caught on camera. You'll always be the rave of the town. Though it's been awhile that you've been put on the ground by defeat, men or Satan, God is saying that's not the end, "you won't still cease making appearances." Your tender branch will not cease. They'll continue to know you with what they've afore known you with and then additionally with new things. New oil, new product!

A tree cut down with its root and the stump in ground has hope. The mistake that the devil made and is making over your life is that you're yet alive. If you were dead, we could say, "sealed and conclusive." However, you're yet breathing. What has happened to you can therefore be recovered from even though when you've been really wrecked. Hope isn't lost. Revival and resurrection of hope is still very much possible. For a tree who still has its roots deep in the soil and its stock though old established in same, all that's need for a recalling, reactiveness and restoration to its usual days of functioning is basically water. Once it smells water, it will soak it in in gratitude and begin to crawl back again. Men who cut it down may think that's impossible but the tree knows "all I need is water." That's why that place says, "at the scent of water, it shall sprout up again." "Water" therefore becomes the element of hope, restoration and a transforming agent being awaited by any tree (you) that has been singed in life. You need to take in water. The moment water begins to near you, the moment you receive the ministry of hope, irrespective of how long you've been in that position (of its roots being old in the ground), you'll come back to performance. Your factory won't close down. Your machines will keep running.

God is restoring and taking back to former days of functioning. God must restore you. It has been awhile you contacted joy, overflowing joy but at this time, God is bringing back your joy. Anything that will make you grow back, function suitably and to your maximal peak, God is letting them happen to you to make you flow and overflow. You'll reconnect. New partners will seek you even from abroad. They'll offer their partnership. You'll receive grants. A loss in venture in this life isn't the end. At the scent of water, you'll bud again (once again go into production). Resources is all you need. Though you may seem to be starting from the scratch, yet by time, you'll retrieve your empire and probably see a greater one than the one afore lost. The story of Samson depicts it. His head was shaven and his strength as well departed from him. He became a toiling instrument and a nonentity. For awhile, he was no longer relevant in the ministry of the deliverer God had called him and even the media were silent about him. Suddenly however, his hair like a new shoot of plants grows back and it was recorded that he killed more at his death (just at that recovery) than he had killed during the time he was once active in ministry. Fight is still in your body. Don't let any call you an "old lion."

Judges 16:30, KJV

"...So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life."

Your tomorrow can be better than today isn't a loose cliche statement. It's a reality in the Scripture which can overtake you and has by today's visitation overtaken you. New shoots I see irrespective of how long you've been out of business. You're surviving all odds because you're raised up.

PRAYER: Lord, I will always have an evidence to persistent living. I'll have the last laugh. I will tarry in calling and what I've found to do. Evergreen; ever producing.
