HIS FAITHFULNESS IS PROVEN

Read Exodus 2:1-9

Exodus 2:4-5, KJV

"4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it."

Do you know that the Lord is faithful? The heathen must know and cover their mouth with their hands. Saints in Christ must see and to Him glory. Look, if there's no hand to receive you, one hand won't let you down. Even before your arrival, He takes thought for you.

The case of Moses reveals a God that won't let you be stranded wherever and at whatever time. It doesn't matter those who are watching how your end would look. If no strand of hair falls off without God's knowing, it means nothing happens to you without God's acknowledgement and permission first of all also. From this, you should draw assurance that you're always in the hands of God even if you're alone now. Moses was just a baby. His own case is worst than Joseph's. Joseph was an adolescent sold into slavery though without parents or one to point to as a familiar face. Moses when he was dropped by the river found himself in a bad condition than Joseph. He was not only without parents but defenseless since he was just three months old. What can a baby do if an ant or snake crawls on him? If we agree he's against these protected, what would he do if a hand comes to collect him away? He wouldn't have resisted. That's why God ensured Moses fell into the right hands.

To test whether God is faithful or not, one character proved God for us though she did out of curiosity. Moses' sister wouldn't go. Something held her still to continue to watch this season movie and see where it would end and where Moses would fall. She therefore hide herself in the bush at a vantage distance where she could see any transaction happening to baby Moses. What a connection between the siblings. Blood is powerful indeed. It brings two or more together in unbreakable bond. While she watches, she saw in queenly garments a figure arriving at the river. What could this mean? That's how the woman drew Moses from the water. As the contemplation was going on, she came out and suggested if her royalty would need a nurse. Yours truly, that's how the boy's mother nurses her own child. Imagine that! When it seems there was no hope, God rose one for Moses and preserved a prophet for Israel. Is it not because of situations like this that we have a scripture like the one below written for our exhortation.

Psalms 27:10, KJV

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Don't forget that clause, "the Lord will take me up." If that's the only verse you remember when you're deserted but surrounded, you'll beat the devil cyclically again and again. Are you a student on campus lacking support? It may not be to your sponsors' joy but don't forget God will take you up. Adoption is a reality. I was adopted on campus by many parents. Different people put money down at different times I needed it. My father had passed on and the burden was just too heavy on my Mama. Are you a missionary or minister who's forlorn in the field? Is the quarterly widow's mite promised you not coming again? The Lord will take you up. Wherever and on whatever you feel this is the end; may I announce, that's the beginning. My Father, you're the One I cry unto day and night. You also freely gave Jesus to us. If you gave this your best, will you withdraw any other good thing from us? Will you not rather freely give us all things to enjoy? I affirm it can't but be. I pray for all forlorn and those at a juncture where like Moses' sister watches what would become of themselves and their situations. It may look like you're in the midst of the sea and you're drowning. You might even have taken some gulps of water but salvation that arises in Zion for Israel shall arise for you today. When you're in no man's land, at the verge of being finished or on the road of being ended, help in time of need: an immediate help shall come your way. If Pharaoh's daughter didn't miss her time but hearkened to God to move to the saving of Moses when an invisible hand stirred her up, none would miss his time to aid you.

PRAYER: Your faithfulness is proven. Moses' sister waited and saw it. I am waiting, let me see it.

INVENTORS OR DESTROYERS - National Stories Series 006

READ Gen. 41

Genesis 41:15, KJV

"And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it".

In the community of men, you'll see the "inventors" and then the "destroyers". Today, I want to elaborate on why expatriates must have rights and room to flower wherever they find to indwell. Pharaoh said this, "Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land" Exo.1:10.

On who should this heavy hand of Pharaoh fall? Any who has been investigated and found to be indeed and in all morality sense against the peace of the nation. When Pharaoh said this of the Hebrews, we knew he was only speaking his insecurity out though there were obvious suspicious basis for what he said. Israel was many and mightier yet this doesn't literally translate to fighting one's host or seizing power. One may have money and not have any interest in the politics of his country. He may not run and may not sponsor any but we know he can be a victim of a suspicious dictator who believes can use his wealth to sponsor a coup against him. You may be qualified and not pursue. Pharaoh identified why Israel was a threat but though they possessed those attributes, they never thought of moving in the direction of overthrowing the government. If their time to leave had come (let's say Moses and Aaron didn't show up), they would still have sent representatives to Pharaoh to let them go while recounting history in his ears and thanking him for such long years of accommodation which he himself don't know about.

In today's reading, a Pharaoh (the dreamer) acknowledged Joseph by witness' report as he who could interpret dreams. Note how he said it. "I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it". This verse reveals Joseph as a beneficial, profiting expatriate to any nation that receives him. He is an inventor. One who can proffer solution to the problem of the country he dwells in. Such men as these don't only have skill, wisdom, education but they're also the correct citizen in that they don't violate the law. Such kind of citizen is to be desired by any government and given a room to flower. This Pharaoh (the dreamer) recognized that in Joseph. That's why he entrusted the whole land into his hands. He brought him into politics. It wasn't Joseph who aspired or canvasses for an office through perspiration, lust or filthy lucre. That only came as a reward. So, it's not bad for expatriates to be given recognition for their contributions. Any that has the potential, ability and character etc and thus can, is or had applied such to bring development to his country of indwelling is a developer or inventor. Once he's law abiding though has not yet built them a car that flies, he is in the inventor or developer category. Such either creates an enabling environment for such creating vehicles that fly/those doing miracles in their respective fields or are themselves. They should not be discarded or reduced to non entities on the basis of colour, race, gender, education etc. They should be made citizens and seen so so that the host country can have them for himself totally while leveraging on all their abilities to become a nation utopia. Such should not be made like unto the Hebrews who were suppressed and made second class citizens. Welcome them rather.

Such as plan its destruction, derogatorily defame it or refuse to abide in lawful order within its frame even though born citizens are destroyers.  Such the hand of the law should be heavy on. Have we not read who should be prosecuted and punished? Rom.13:3.  It is only on this second basis any government in the world should be seen being heavy on humans. Are they found out to be terrorists, law breakers or inciters of men to do so etc, let them face the tune of that. That's why the prison is created to sieve the chaff from the wheat irrespective of race, nationality, gender, education, status etc until such fellow's conduct is refined and fit for society again. That is if he is not carrying a death sentence. If Pharaoh had found this truth out, he would have harnessed all the brains amidst the Hebrews to build another great Egypt in his own tenure. However, insecurity blindfolded him to what these many and mightier people could yield him.

This is God's wisdom and counsel to all expatriates to be a "Joseph" who would advance the land of their dwelling. Be your homeland's ambassador. If you've been received as a citizen, behave and live like one.

PRAYER: As a Joseph in a strange land, may I not be short of being an inventor or developer.

THIS NATURAL FEELING OF JEALOUSY - National Stories Series 005

READ Exodus 1:8-15

Exodus 1:9-10, KJV

" 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land".

If in a home, the adopted children are doing better than the biological, do you believe it can set the biological on edge and make them question the right the adopted have in their father's house. Even, same could still happen where the biological are even better or all equals. That's when they (the biological) begins to possess their father for themselves because they now sense the incoming of sharing which could lead to competition. The biological children out of  jealousy of their father being another's father coupled with insecurity would ask, "when it is time, they'll show you your real parents and you shall leave". Do you know that all of us have a natural feeling of jealousy put in us? Only that we are liable to what we let it cause. I have heard many Africans for instance charge Europeans etc with being discriminating (myself inclusive) because we've seen a lot indeed. Let's reverse the order. Let's say Africa is the one this verily developed while Europe is the one coming to Africa, how many of you reasons to believe with me that we Africans would discriminate them as well?

Do you want to know why? We believe, "why come here to lick us clean?; why don't you stay in your own land too?". "If we are not beneficiaries of the little goodies in your land, why should you be here to exhaust ours?" That's our thinking and it is so for every host nation and some if not all its citizens. Indignation may be stirred in her citizens when they see the prosperity of aliens even more than natives. Don't forget that was the cause of Pharaoh's action. Israel was more and mightier than they were. They filled the land. Yesterday, I substantiate it by showing how Ghana sent packing all foreign nations (many African) living in her during Busia's government and how Nigeria sent Ghanaians especially packing too during the Buhari led administration after their being drawn by the oil boom. What excuse did Nigerians give? Ghanaians are not giving them space to breathe. They're sharing in what is not enough which should be meant for citizens. Why add to our problem? Up, begone to your father's house also! Even if it is enough, any one could have said, "go and develop your nation too". That's that jealousy. If it is not well channeled (for it can't be eradicated), it can lead to a massacre of the people.

So, before you'll say you can't discriminate and affirm same to be true, first put yourself in the shoe of Pharaoh and others who are guilty of it. Know why they do it and why you won't or shouldn't do it. Pharaoh started discriminating when he stopped seeing the Israelites as Egyptians. If Joseph were still alive, he would never have been lesser an Egyptian than he was a Hebrew. So is each of the Hebrews living in Egypt. They proud themselves being Egyptians though foreigners and Hebrews. The day natives don't see aliens or expatriates as citizens - which they (citizens) are, discrimination starts. For that is when we start creating distinction amidst men. Natives would only be justified of this if expatriates have stopped living as citizens.

Pharaoh's concern was concern but it was not well channeled. Israel didn't contest for the kingship of Egypt with the Egyptians. They only needed a land to live and right to life to exercise. That the natives are the ones ruling still makes them the domineering force because it is he who bears the sceptre that owns the nation. So today, let us not deny that we can be made jealous on the account of having being prospered and another coming to enjoy the labour of our heroes. Rather, let's grow out of the evils of being made jealous into seeing all men as one as long as they're for peace. Israel would have been guilty of what Pharaoh accused them of if they were trying to seize the government or planning Egypt's downfall. Except they're called to government, they should remain low also. But in this wise, insecurity and inordinate fear pushed Pharaoh into taking unnecessary measures. Check yourself too for God is jealous over strangers amidst you even to avenge them.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to treat my neighbour as myself.

WOULD YOU DOMINATE ME IN MY LAND? - National Stories Series 004

Exodus 1:9-10, KJV

"9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land".

Down the lane of history, humans have exhibited barbaric brutality against themselves. One of such reveals itself in racial discrimination where people are segregated against and treated so (inferiorly) on the basis of their colour. Though there is a great reawakening against it in this generation, yet I doubt whether it would be exterminated because even in countries of diverse tribes, there's tribalism and then several other divisions and caste groupings amidst all human beings - based on one reason or the other.

In today's reading, to our shock and surprise, it was a leader who ought to be an arbiter of justice who became insecure and intimidated by what another nation as he perceived was becoming in his territory. The danger is that Israel has become a mighty nation, greater than Egypt and if they're not subdued now, they'll one day join the enemy at war to fight them and by that leave the nation. This Pharaoh is not different from so many leaders who have taken annihilating steps of securing their territories against the misconceived take over of another people under the pretext of being outnumbered. If I ask any of us, "do you want to have strangers take over your land and dominate your community?" You'll obviously say "no" due to the natural feeling of jealousy in you that issues "what is mine should be mine". This is even when some other reasons are its real trigger. You might consider, a people with population may become the rulers through their influence as they'll even have the largest force. And one of the things that make nations feared nowadays is how mighty their force is. How much could they number at the sight of war. Verify, no small country ever becomes a world power. That's why we had the conglomeration of territories came together to become the United States of America. They needed the total force of all these people to intimidate and rank high. That's why it is easier for a country like Nigeria to become a world power though currently set back. It is because it has some of the ingredients for being a world power - the population and the economy.

One of the triggers that lead to why natives take heed to putting measures in place to curtail the aliens in their midst is the fear of those aliens taken or running them over. Even if it happens under the disguise of xenophobia, it is still the same. That feeling of, "how can you come to my fatherland and possess it for yourself while shifting me off" is what triggers many inhuman and inferior treatments against many expatriates. We tend to blame others for our lack of good life just like Nigerians retaliated by shouting Ghanaians out of their country under the pretext that Ghanaians (fellow Africans) made it difficult for them having enough during the oil boom that drew Ghanaians to Nigeria. This evokes the popular, "Ghana must go mantra". In this way, the Pan-africanist spirit that makes Africans Africans elsewhere on the continent was banished.

Pharaoh called his people and pointed to them a threat they were not seeing. We should be leaders that see as well but we should never be driven by insecurity, suspicion and hatred. If this Pharaoh had learnt about the deed of Joseph to his own people, he would have rather seen Israel as peace lovers. Wherever there's suspicion, strive and all sorts would soon make such its house. It is under this drive Pharaoh made slaves of the Hebrews - his benefactor. Only if he had known that Israel would never plan a take over, he wouldn't have commanded that their sons should be fed to the Nile. A subtle way of controlling Israel's population and exterminating birth rate in the future.

Today, God wants you watch inward feelings of  suspicion, distrust, insecurity against another that may lead you to become a tool of craze and destruction in the devil's hands. We are in the craze to defend our integrity in this world as nations. We know. We are not saying we shouldn't watch over the citizens God made us overseers over. However, we should not reduce one to slave while we esteem one as prince when they both abide by the law. In this way, we would be hindering justice and equality that our world is preaching and has set out to achieve. Pharaoh didn't ask Israel what they were thinking towards them. He resolved they harbour evil by all indicators that favour them. He became insecure that they were becoming a minority in their own land. What should a country like France then do whose natives are minority? As long as aliens are for peace and have come to live as citizens, every good government should treat them as one.

PRAYER: Make me a leader of right intention who is only a terror to evil doers and evil works but would embrace all good works irrespective of shades and varieties.

LET THE RECORDS BE BROUGHT - National Stories Series 003

READ Esther 6

Esther 6:1, KJV

"On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king".

If you had asked me what other title I would title this, I'll say "Remembrance in Action". We read yesterday what permitted the enslavement of Israel in Egypt. It was not because Joseph died but because a new king arose that knew not Joseph. If he had known Joseph, he could have withhold hurting the descendants of his nation's benefactor. So, the lack of remembrance here was to the undoing of Israel [Exo.1:8].

In today's reading, Ahasuerus could not sleep. That was God at work because the Jews have been slated to be destroyed by Haman but God has started fighting for them. Out of no where, he requested that the book of records be brought. If you read the Bible very well; whenever kings are troubled, they request for wise men to come in to interpret the trouble of their souls or as natural men request for wine to cheer up. But why would the king suddenly in the night ask that the national archives be brought and searched? God puts a leading in him to go into the archives of past events. It was God who stung him awake, put unrest in his soul and it was him who satisfied him by making him find out about Mordecai's unrewarded deed. He requested if a thing was done him to which a Chamberlain replied in the negative. This is how the forgotten Mordecai, who's beginning to be out of favour and in line for mass destruction with his people begin to receive ascension and lifting back into favour.

Forgetfulness is costly. It sentenced Israel to slavery and hard labour. It costs them lives of their sons. All because there was a Pharaoh who didn't know Joseph. That the Bible said, "a king arose who didn't know Joseph" means he could have learnt of Joseph's deed and if he had learnt so, he could have refrained from sentencing them to slavery out of insecurity and jealousy as if they are people of no noble man. He would have seen them as people of peace and not those who could mix with their enemies to hurt his people if a war breaks out [Exo.1:10]. But he didn't know. History was either not told him or it was not documented down at all.

At a time when it seems ominous sound and tragedy was beginning to way lay Mordecai and the Jews, God began to revive hope in Mordecai and the Jews of His being their present help in trouble. The first act happened that shows God could override well cooked plans. The records were revived out of the blues. Who's there reading this? It doesn't matter how close you are to the grave or disgrace, what would bring you back will happen. What would redeem you from every evil planned against you shall begin to happen and you shall be vindicated. Without the evidences of Queen Esther against Haman as one who wanted to destroy her people, if the King had learnt that Mordecai was one of the ones to be killed, he would have had it investigated. Do you want to know why? The behaviour and reputation of Mordecai in records contradicts whatsoever reason a fellow could have raised of his being a law breaker. Was it not this same man that exposed two Chamberlains who would have successfully toppled down the king? How could such loyal, dedicated person have suddenly become of evil intention when he didn't partner with coup planners previously.  Suspicion must arise in the king that he was probably being framed. Though this was not outrightly discovered, yet we saw how God rose remembrance for Mordecai and how he got payment for what any thought had gone.

You won't sink. Seeds that have been sown ahead of time by your predecessors or you shall speak for you when needed. Your good deeds won't just be in the books. They'll breathe and draw hearts to peruse them so that you'll be rewarded and begin to be brought salvation in Jesus name. All those who needs vindication because you were misconceived, misjudged or accused wrongly, past records set right would stand even at late hour to vindicate you. You won't go as they planned it. You're the Lord's redeemed.

PRAYER: Redeemer, the hope reviver, wherever I'm slated for slaughter, call me back.

WHICH KNEW NOT JOSEPH - National Stories Series 002

READ Gen. 41

Exodus 1:8, KJV

"Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph".

Treatment that we are dealt many times is harvest of the seed someone sows. Action begets reaction. This unfortunately may be negative ones at times. If you won't forget Joseph, he's significantly and best remembered as the saviour of Egypt through the given and applied wisdom of grain preservation. He brought Pharaoh and Egypt wealth untold by taken advantage of other nations' blindness to see the coming evil and hide. Having been very much esteemed by Pharaoh and the Egyptians with all knees submitting to him, he became a model for all to look at. He was a gift and if you'll put it right, a "god" to the Egyptians. Joseph himself even sent his brothers to tell his father that God had made him a "father" to Pharaoh [Gen. 45:8]. If that be, there won't be anything good and comely in life difficult for Pharaoh to release for Joseph's sake. All these his deeds made Pharaoh succumb to accommodating Israel into a specified separated land called Goshen. Pharaoh didn't see it a hard thing to do to harbour a whole nation in his country because he had seen an example of the Hebrews in Joseph. If Joseph had wisely behaved himself in a manner as to bring salvation to the Egyptians, then the other Hebrews can't but be the good luck and charm of the Egyptians. No wonder, when Joseph presented his brothers to Pharaoh as nomadics, he immediately seized that opportunity to request them to be shepherds of his own herd too. Trust immediately rose [Gen.47:6].

However, this Joseph of mighty deed and this grateful Pharaoh soon passed away. With the death of a saviour and the rise of a new king who doesn't know Joseph, the Hebrews became second class citizens in the land their brother, predecessor, ancestor had preserved and won recognition for. Yesterday, I taught in the devotional what embarrassment befalls someone whose his defence or influence dies or falls away. We saw how the Philistines didn't flee for their lives until they had ascertained their champion: the one in whom their soul rested in had fallen and died. Things embarrassing and disgraceful happens to one's down lines at one's back because the man whose reputation should be considered for one's soft treatment has left.

That place says, "a new king rose who knew not Joseph". It simply means one who didn't hear of the achievement and preservative work of Joseph. If he had been told and had heard, he would have respected Israel and had not taken them as slaves nor had their born sons thrown into the Nile. But when history is not told, people become guilty and victims of the past that should have curtailed their wrong actions or preserved them from same. I pray for you, the deeds of those on whose account you should be kindly treated shall always appear, recalled and known. If it goes into oblivion, you may suffer for it. That Israel went into slavery may fulfill the prophecy God had given to Abraham afore time but it was also because one man who should know Joseph didn't know Joseph [Gen. 15:14-14]. If he had known Joseph and his deeds had been rehearsed in his ears, it may not be him who would be this hard on Israel. May your Joseph not die. That's your ticket to good life. When he does, may his deeds speak still. Have we not read of the voice of righteous Abel that cries though dead [Heb.11:4]. Better still, Jesus blood speaks better things even till now on our behalf than the blood of this righteous Abel [Heb.12:24]. I therefore pronounce you blessed. I say let Josephs rise for you. Whenever it remains little for you to suffer and become victim of a wrong decision or action, may mouths, records and deeds be recounted to your salvation. I have spoken and it is so. You will reap the good deeds of someone you don't even know was sown.

PRAYER: God of all the earth, make me a Joseph to nations. Let my deed preserve, bless and bring nations out of depression. Even at death, may my Josephs (parents' etc) deeds speak for me. Before the Father and men, may Jesus' suffering, death and righteousness procure me favour always.

MAY OUR CHAMPION NOT FALL

I Samuel 17:51, KJV

"Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled".

Strike the shepherd, the sheep will scatter is indeed true. After the verbal exchange between Goliath and David, Goliath ran towards the battle line to confront the young lad whom he esteemed as a little rat.  "And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods" 1 Samuel  17:43.

David, who won't allow the words of Goliath to damp him also gave his response. It was first of all war of verbal exchange! When the Philistine drew near to him for battle, he didn't waste time but rather went up to meet him for battle. David releases a slingshot which hits the giant on his forehead. The stone sunk in and he fell to the ground. In absolute victory, David stood on the once giant giant and rejoiced over him. He then took the sword of this enemy of the Lord and Israel to cut off his head. This act proves the irreversibility of Goliath's death.

On seeing the fate of their champion sealed, the Philistines turned their backs and fled. But these were the Philistines that once stood like Mount Zion that can't be moved. Why should they turn around now? The simple truth is this. We all have who or what we put our confidence resolutely in. Once it fails or falls, we're vulnerable. If you'll remember, in afore verses, it was Goliath who was making a call for the adoption of one to one combat. He challenged Israel and echoed, "give me a man that we may fight...". For anyone to have made such request, he is in the first place not a warrior to confront. He was not only sure of himself but all the Philistines' souls rested perfectly well on him. "He had done it before. He'll do it again", they say. While he was saying, give me a man that we may fight and was setting the terms and conditions, all the Philistines were busy giggling, mocking Israel and relieving themselves of the worry of army to army combat. They had seen in him a chest to lean on. To them, Goliath whom anyone of us would regard as a villain was a mighty deliverer. Isn't that why the Bible repeatedly calls him, "a champion". Guess whose champion's. Of the Philistines. The defender of their nation. A great ambassador of all they embody. But something happen. Goliath of Gath, the giant that scares a whole army went down. In absolute victory and rejoicing unparalleled, David, the boy he least esteemed carried his head. To this, his followers responded with a swift race to escape death. If the shepherd has been struck, the sheep should look unto his ways.

That's why I pray for you that your champion won't fall. The one God has given you to rely on shall tarry. Your parents, that sibling, that spouse who's your joy, helper, burden bearer shall not suddenly be taken away from you. If it happens, one should get ready for many embarrassments. When my father passed on, those who were apprenticed or like servants to him who couldn't come out afore times were the ones proposing love to my mother. I was so embarrassed at one such event like that that my blood boiled with jealousy to go beat one of such men. What couldn't afflict the Philistines at the watch of Goliath while he was standing tall, did at his back. That's what I'm praying you'll be saved from in all facets. So shall it be. Your wall shall not break down. Your defence shall not be weakened. Though man of flesh has little days and is not Spirit as to be eternally trusted, yet I pray that until you can stand on your own and defend your integrity, those whom God has given as covers to you won't be removed. In Jesus name!

PRAYER: Goliath is useful and is the importance of the Philistines. He is their shield. A singular man that protects the national integrity. Make me so. Those you've made so to me, spare them Lord.
