I WILL APPEAL TO THE KING

READ I Kings 16-28

I Kings 3:27, KJV

"Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof."

Two prostitutes were in a house. One had switched her dead baby for the living of another. The other in the morning light discovered she had been robbed by careful consideration and refuses to go with what is not hers.

These two prostitutes finally landed at Solomon's court. They wouldn't have appeared there if the case was settled after the discovery of that exchange and while argument for the retrieval of the living child by the rightful mother lasted. But because the false woman won't agree, the real mother appealed to the king as the only way of escape. This is affirmed in her narrating what happened explicitly to the king. She desires to be vindicated and tendered the case before Solomon.

If a thing can't be settled by you, it is wisdom if you seek an external power - one that's greater than you, the thing you're fighting or that's fighting you. Anointing is represented by the sword in that passage. It has not lost effectiveness in getting things done.

This woman that appealed is wise. Should arguments continue till the day is spent? To stop the rivalry, she needed somebody who could hear both of them out, discern the genuine and separate it from the false. Her desire to put an end to their rivalry made her appeal.

Saint, the court of heaven is opened. Have you been robbed? Have you been cheated? Is somebody infringing on your rights? Report it to the King. He is for the just while He'll rebuke the unjust. I pray for you that wherever there's a contest with you over what is yours (which has been robbed you), the sword of God will severe your lot for you without harm today.  Restoration in Jesus' name. This month, value won't be exchanged for shamble in your life.

PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes to the belief in Your ability to bring solutions to all my problems. My soul thus rest in you.

THE EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY GOD

Acts 12:15-16, KJV

"15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. 16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished."

One of the things that shows to humans he is feeble, frail and of dust are circumstances that lords it over him. In today's passage, Peter also had been arrested by Herod and if not for the timely intervention of God through His angel, Herod could have killed him to put smile on the faces of the people.

The church didn't take his own matter with levity. They learnt after the event that happened to James, the brother of John. So, they prayed unceasing. It was this prayer like incense that stirred up an angel that came for his deliverance up. Don't think your prayers are turning nothing. Keep praying until manifestation is tangible.

When Peter knocked the gate of Mary, John Mark mother's home, Rhoda for joy didn't open to him immediately but went to share the news of having Peter at the gate. What did the disciples, full-of-faith and praying saints say? They said Rhoda was mad and that she must not have seen Peter himself but his angel.

How easy is it to be praying for one thing yet not exercising faith? How can the church pray unceasing yet when the answer manifests still doubts it. They doubted because they had seriously thought all hope was gone for Peter. They said it was his angel because they were believing he had been dead by then. However, it was Peter himself. God did it. It was not a representation of Peter they received back but the man in flesh and blood.

Who am I sent to today? I heard God saying, "I'll surpass your expectation, work beyond your thinking and shock your doubt!" All they were expecting was a dead man. It shows in what they said Rhoda might have seen but it was Peter in figure. Have you not read this concerning Abraham?

Hebrews 11:19, KJV Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure."

God told Abraham, "in Isaac shall thy seed be blessed." So, standing on this promise, he agreed to slaughter Isaac, accounting God would raise Isaac from the dead after he might have done so. However, God surpassed his expectation also. He rather received Isaac in a figure on the spot. Isaac didn't have to die and be resurrected back before he had him. Look, the General we served is the One that can do this verse below:

Ephesians 3:20, KJV

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."

Do you need resources, help or favour that seems hard to receive? My God will shame all those requests and desires that are mountains to you.

Today, the work of the Lord will appear to you. I heard a Psalm in my inner thoughts.

Psalms 90:16, KJV

"Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children."

When God's work appears, that is God's miracles and the manifestation of only what He can do. Receive those works today!

PRAYER: Lord, let Your work appear unto me and heritage. Father, surpass what I ask or think. You're the transcendental God!

WHEN YOU'RE THE "WE CAN'T DO WITHOUT"

Read John 6:1-68

John 6:68, KJV

"Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."

When there are no other choices, what is choice is what is used. God made Philip the "I can't do without to the Ethiopian Eunuch." If the Ethiopian Eunuch would ever receive a supply of understanding on what he has read, he would need an interpreter. In that desert they were, no other person was obviously visible at sight. That's why God sent Philip to him as the last resort so that he won't just escape to Africa like that without having heard the gospel. Face to face, he was with Philip in the desert. No other person could help him understand the Scriptures but Philip. He can't say, "I don't like how you're dressed." As long as Philip is ready to help him understand the Scriptures and offer a hand to him on what he needs, he's opened to Philip.

May people come face to face with you. May God so much make you important and to be esteemed to the world that they can't but listen to you as one that has the words of life.

In today's passage, Jesus began a line of discussion that has to do with the manna the Israelites were fed in the wilderness through Moses hands. Jesus rather said He is the bread of life and that without eating his flesh and drinking his blood, no one can have eternal life. The Jews were first offended at this as they wonder if they'll indeed eat Jesus physical flesh. Later in time, Jesus said no one can come to Him except those that the Father draws to him. These amidst many words got some of his disciples offended. They must have believed Jesus was beginning to attach much importance to Himself while diminishing them. On that basis, they left. When Jesus saw some of the outer disciples leave, He faced the disciples with this.

John 6:67, KJV

"Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?"

It was this question that birthed our head verse today. The disciples through Peter said, "who shall we go to. It is You that has the Word of life."

This is he who God has made every minister and this should be your reason as a bearer of the gospel and one whom the Bible described to have beautiful feet not to water down what the Lord is saying. Jesus was not seeking to pull rank. He needed to say what he said. What He said were the truth to say. Those who took shipping seeking him all around did not because they wanted to hear the Word but because they were looking for the repetition of being fed to their fill. So, Jesus needed to correct this and many others. Why some pastors lack the strength of the calling is because they have accommodated error, indecency and inappropriate acts for long until they don't have force, strength or respect from the congregation to turn something again. You can continue long in a thing until you become reprobate or have your conscience seared and begin to see the abnormal as normal.

To all those ministers who have not bowed to Baal or kiss him by giving to the people what they like to hear that tickles their fancy and makes them give fleshly comments, God has a commitment to you. Some may leave but some will stay. Those who can't endure will always leave. Let your teaching sift men for you amidst men. If you refuse to rebuke as you ought to, shaft and wheat will continue to be in your ministry. Shaft must leave.

This is a call to all genuine disciples to have stomach for correction and what is righteous to practice. If you're looking forward to not being offended, you won't come to church. Any who comes to God must be spoken to. Except if your life has been made wholly perfect. That's when you'll always escape God's Word but if you're like everyone who still gasps for being made whole, God's word will hook you to correction and divine arrest one day.

Despite all, God will make you important to men. They'll always come to a repentance of action or resolution while remembering, you bear the word of life. May God honour all ministers of the gospel bearing the precious seeds of the word in this manner.

THE JOY OF BECOMING PARENTS

THE JOY IN SEEING ONE'S ISSUES

Until you're in somebody's shoes at times, you may not be able to colleague with them on their experience. I have been having strong nostalgia of my childhood days. I could still remember far back when my mum would tuck my shirt in for me. I remembered times I pretended to be sick with intention to be excused from school. Moments when as children, we were the delight and the concentration of parents. At adulthood, we're still but the pampering has changed because it is now our turn to hand out ministrations.

From the smile or cry of a child that catches our attention; to the first pronouncement of titles like 'abba' or 'ma' etc, to the dexterity of child prodigies even at tender age, and even to the questions asked by children like "who put humans in TV?", all contributes to this joy of having children. A man was dazed when he was preparing to go out and his yet to clock three year old boy went to bring his shoes. Yet, that was the thing he was rightly looking for to crown his dressing. Now, ask yourself, "how did that young chap picked that?"

It should be like two weeks now when I chatted up one of our sisters who gave birth. I sent her good wishes and prayers. Then I said, "I know you're happy, experiencing the joy of seeing your own issue." She concurred.

Oh, what a blessing to see one's children. At times, when I sit back, I always see my children. I'll allow my imagination to travel on the positive aspects of life. Let yours also do. By thinking and ruminating on the positives and the future to come, you will be allowing hope to invigorate your soul and body. Doing this, you can't be old waiting for a particular promise or prophecy until it comes. Abraham and Sarah did until Isaac also arrives. You can use the same process to await and receive anything from God. So, I picture how I'll like them to be raised. How they should be dressed. What education they should have and what should be their conduct. Many times, I have thought on how good it would be having daughters. I want to see my daughters grow up to be beauties like the daughters of Job and prophetess like the daughters of Philip. I want to be proud one day when men would patronize them.

One of the contents in movies I choose to watch is any that speaks of palace life or training a fellow to become a thing from childhood or nothingness. How royalty is groomed is really worth noting. All of us have an education in mind for our issues undeniably. At times, I've told myself, "no wonder, some parents enforce choice of career on their children." It's that sense of being caring that now becomes overburdening or overprotective. I know you do think this way also. It's the way of all the earth. We have it in common.

Children are the pride of parents. That's why these Bible verses say:

Psalms 127:4-5, KJV

"4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.  5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."

Did you read HAPPY is the man? When the Bible says "happy", it means blessed, fortunate and celebrated is that man. I've prayed with and for waiting parents before. You can see that their joy is not yet full. When they see the issues of others living and growing, their hearts would beat together in prayers and yearning for their own. Do you know why? Real happiness is exhibited over what you own.

Think of what a warrior can use arrows to accomplish. That's what good parenting can harness children with a tabularaza mind to achieve too. There's nothing a new born can't become if the right training and resources aids him. There's no parent also who prays that he/she will be handicapped in catering for his issues. When it concerns each of us, even where we couldn't receive pampering, we want to give comfort to our children to be better than us but not to spoil them. We want them to be assured and know that they can always run home when there's turbulence outside.

It is in the light of this I can now begin to understand part of our parents' joy over us while we were growing up. What did Isaiah say about growing up?

Isaiah 53:2, KJV

"For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground..."

Who shall grow up like a tender plant in that place? Jesus of course. A tender plant or a root from a dry ground alludes to frailness and the childhood stage. It's a stage of dependence. From being tender however, children will grow to become trees just like their parents. Before my father died, I was sharing the same foot wear with him. Many times, he gave me some of his foot wears and on some occasions, he drew a line for me not to wear some. I'll never forget one sandal 'daddy mi' used in his youth to do fine boy that was passed on to me. How I loved this sandal. It took time before it worn out. It had a very high and thick sole.

There's joy in seeing a once tender plant grow to  become a fully blown adult with whom you can now share your thoughts on subjects of life. I travelled with my father some times and I saw how much he took pride in my walking beside him. Of all my father's children, I'm not only the first born male, I carry his resemblance than any.

Especially when children win prizes or do their parents proud amidst colleagues, their joy knows no bound. That is their prayer that they'll have gifted, swift and self taught children. No wonder our parents would try all in their capacity to meet our requests. Many times, our mothers advocated for us before our fathers on our needs. ...and our failures became their concerns too.

What a joy seeing your own child dress in uniform for school; having packed their warm food. Imagine everything sparkling new with perfume and aura of Jehovah communicating in sonorosity of favour after having laid hand on him or her at the family morning devotion with assurance not to forget his identity. Such child can't be defeated.

A father recently brought her daughter to school. The man is well to do. In his well esteemed jeep, he came out first of all to open the door for her J.S.S.1 daughter who was seated at the owner's place. I was on the second floor watching this. Some may see that and mistitled it. After I saw it, I ruminated on it until the jigsaw was arranged. It's good to give your children an image that won't make them see themselves as inferior. Give them a picture of the standard they should set for themselves and demand out of life. A girl the father always does that for can't be treated lesser by a male if he takes her to a restaurant. He knows he must pull the chair for her and open the door for her.  I told that girl later, "once you get home, tell daddy, I love what he did." If you see something worthy of praise, shoot your gun for that purpose.

What a joy becoming a father or mother. If you  see someone that's due being a parent, her behaviour and carriage will be that of a parent. If such should be given oversight over a child, she'll treat such like hers. She won't see it as a burden.

A sister sometimes ago portrayed that. She stays at her elder brother's home and that one has a boy of like four years. Whenever she returns from office and the boy comes around, she must have something to present. The sister told me severally when we had to do, "I need to remember to buy something for him." When the elder sister who has two children was on night duties for awhile as a nurse, she stood in to help cater for the two daughters also. You see, she's acting like a mother because that's what she's due for. When a joy awaits you, you like feeling its feel.

To caregivers and parents who have vision to do all in their capacity to raise children that will be whole, may God support you and cushion you with all resources needed.

To the waiting parents. None shall be barren in the land has not gone on relegation. We'll share your own testimonies soonest.

To the singles, may the joy due you come. May God fetch you a home where you can raise children that'll be free of the corruption of this world who can continue your legacy and pass your name on.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

HAPPY NEW MONTH!

WHEN THE VEIL IS DONE AWAY WITH

II Kings 7:3,KJV

"And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?"

Have you ever suddenly come to the realisation of a truth before? Before then, you were stationary. You were contented with your present prevalent situation. You might have even settled in the less and call it the best. Recently, I had a settled mind on a subject matter. I've had this settled mind for more than a month until the veil was taken off. When it was, I saw clearly that what I have settled for wasn't the best.

When the covering is taken away, understanding dawns on one. Look at these four lepers. They've been watching in front of the gate of Samaria for only God knows. No progress nor forward movement. Nobody thought contrarily to their immobility. All of them regarded it good to maintain their status. Meanwhile, something happened. They suddenly came to the realisation of a hidden truth. I call it revelation because they were permitted to see or observe what they've never given attention to before. There and then, they began to analyze their condition. They became unsatisfactory. They said:

2 Kings 7:4,KJV

"If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. "Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die."

For sometimes (which only God knows), they've not had forward thinking which only could produce forward movement. But at that juncture where understanding of their prevalent situation flooded them, they sought to relocate.

Meanwhile relocation was never part of their consideration from the beginning. They were contented to stay at the gate though they were dying. However, they received a change in their mindset when the blindfold of their hearts was taken away.

Look at me saint. There are some directions you'll never think towards until time comes for you to implement something in that direction. Did you agree that it is the Lord's doing that stung these lepers to awareness? They were stung to notification of where to go and what to do at that particular time because God wanted to bring about the prophecy of Elisha. Without the veil being done away with, one cannot enter into his inheritance nor take it by knowledge. One will always be contented with the less. Mind you, the devil has a plan to substitute your calling with a career. So, be careful to discover where God wants you be and where you should go. Without the dispensing off of the veil, you can't look at yourself and ask WHY SIT I HERE UNTIL I DIE? Therefore, receive understanding!

PRAYER: Father of all light, let my heart be free of darkness. Always sting me to action with illumination and light unparalleled.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

WHAT A CHRISTIAN SHOULD DO WHEN THE WORLD CAN'T BUT NEED HIS SERVICE

Acts 8:35, KJV

"Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus."

The world will need you. They will come to your doorstep. Somehow, what you are known for as a professional can't but inevitably bring them to you. Once they are in this manner brought to you, ensure you show them Jesus.

There are three doors. They are doors of ministry, faith and then utterance. As it concerns this teaching, I shall by the Hallowed One, Jesus Christ focus on the door of ministry. God knows what He is doing. You must as well be sensitive to recognize His moves in your own day.

God's angel in today's passage hinted Philip on where to be. The fact that divine guidance is possible either through an angel or other means. Christians are not at the mercy of the world and its happenings. They can be led by the steady words that proceed from God's mouth daily. In heeding, Philip met himself on the way to Gaza. There, he was told to join himself to a chariot. As he obeyed, he overheard a man reading Isaiah. Then, Philip asked, did you get what you're reading?

Acts 8:31, KJV

"And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him."

Did you read the Ethiopian Eunuch's confession? He said "how can he understand?" He had just bought a book he couldn't understand. He is reading it for the excitement of having contacted a new faith - for exploration sake but he neither has the Holy Ghost to give him interpretation nor a human guide to at least help out. At least, we knew he was not born again until the preaching of Jesus to him. That's why he desired Philip to join him even in his fancy car. May God make people not have any other choice but rather to accommodate you. It happened there. Philip was not accepted neutrally. He was accepted because the Ethiopian Eunuch knew he would be useful to him. Every man is born selfish and for you to see those that will open up to you without profit to make is rare. He desperately needs an interpreter to crack what Prophet Isaiah says. He needs answers to what he has read. In his own words, look at how he childishly as an unlearned man in the Scriptures and God's things ask Philip of who the place he read talks about.

Acts 8:34, KJV

"And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?"

Those were the words that said Jesus was led as a lamb to the slaughter. He didn't even know whether Isaiah was saying it to have happened to another or Isaiah himself. You can see the need in his life. He has money and influence. He's not a man of mean status. He has his own ride but he can't crack a book. Divine things were hidden from him because God needed to penetrate him.

So, this was the opportunity that Philip caught on. It was here that Philip could have understood why God by his angel directed him away from home to that place. We were told that Philip who obviously knew what he was doing and had came to the why God had made an opening possible for him to speak to this man then opened his mouth not only to explain that portion of Isaiah to him but rather to preach Jesus to him.

What is our gospel? Jesus! What is our intent? Jesus. Jesus is the gospel. The gospel is Jesus. Preach Jesus in all your preaching. He preached Jesus - his birth, life, ministry, death, ascension etc and from this, he led the man to Christ. Philip so much more preached Jesus plainly to him that it was even the Eunuch that later said as they journeyed, "look, this is water. What stops me from being baptized." Did you see a converted disciple already?

Everything began when that African needed the help of Philip. There was a service he couldn't give to himself but God had positioned Philip there for him. So, Philip being wise not only gave that service but gave the one that's the basis for the one he has given and others the man might be given. Saint, you must discern as clients patronise you not only to help them do their hair but to subtly as you sing or humm preach Jesus to them. If anyone comes to your workshop as a mechanic and you begin to play a sermon, will they say you should stop it? They'll be obliged to hear even if they're not comfortable. They know they have come to your own carved out territory and you're the one who decides what goes there. Not anyone. If you have a hospital, instead of allowing the sick to watch news which are but tragedies and faith contaminants, you can tune to a channel where a message on healing and faith is what they're soaking in. You can control that. If you tell them that's the channel you have to offer and not any other and it's static, even if they think of leaving you, they won't because they'll always remember that you offer the best in healthcare.

Today, God is calling all of us to be secret disciples under our professional wears. A spy won't tell you he's a spy but he knows he's progressing in his work of gathering information. Even if the world don't know who you are, you should and work in that revelation. When the Lord opens freely door of ministry to you to minister and later supplies utterance to you and faith to your hearer, may you not waste his effort.

PRAYER: God, sensitize me to what You'll have me do per term. When there is a wide door opened, may I be open to you too.

THE HONOUR WITH WHICH GOD HONOURS HIS MINISTERS

Read Acts 10

Acts 10:5-6, KJV

"5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: 6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do."

There is a honour with which God honours His ministers. There's no profession that doesn't attract its own honour. There will always be a reason why some other people from without covets a profession and wish they're those within it. May you be part of those God will meet with such.

God by His angel appeared to Cornelius. He was a man that heaven had remembrance on for his prayers and much alms. Heaven doesn't collect from people without giving back to them. God is not a man user without rewarding men with Himself. On that note, God looks for the best way to acknowledge, appreciate and compensate for all his good. So, he gave him a vision where he instructed him to send for a man named Simon Peter who will tell him what he ought to do.

Did you see that at all? That was an angel speaking to Cornelius but that angel couldn't preach the gospel to him. It is men that preach the gospel not angels. As powerful as angels are, God has not committed into their hands the personal work of preaching the gospel to the world. It rather has been given to men. What a honour done men and done those specifically found worthy of such noble task.

God is doing His men honour. What honour, your curious mind asks? The honour of committing into His ministers hands the great privilege of telling people what to do.

Look, as great as that Centurion was, he couldn't instruct himself. As great as the one that appeared to him was [knowing and telling him so many things], he couldn't preach to him. He however said, send for Peter who will tell you what ye ought to do.

Ministers know what God would have men do. They're custodian of what God will have people do. When men are confused, the minister ought to be upright and know what they should do. God's counsel dwells with him. Utterance and words for the season answers him. So, whenever men looks forward to God for a seasonal word to attend their needs, they need not worry because there's one who is ordained an oracle of God to tear them God's mind for that season.

The privilege and honour God does Peter in that place was that he kept Cornelius and all others' bread gathered in his house with him with Peter. Until he arrived, they were not fed. He was the one they were expecting since the angel gave charge they should go bring him to minister.

Guest ministers, are you following? When you're invited to minister, it is not your fashion, grammar, phonics or style people are waiting for. Why they have invited you and for which they earnestly wait in all expectation with prayer and longing for their needs to be met is that through you, God will tell them what they ought to do.

What a rare privilege that until Peter showed them the way by preaching Jesus to them, they didn't know the way. They just don't know how to get themselves born again. What a mystery that one man's bread is held by another man.

I pray for all ministers, you won't become irrelevant in God's hands as to have this honour elude you. May you always be found God's mouth piece when there's an occasion for it. Philip was found for the Ethiopian Eunuch. You won't be exempted in Jesus name.

PRAYER: Find me for my audience Lord. Make me important in my niche and to my generation. Lord, carry me to minister before kings and nations.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 24:1-25:28, Romans 12:1-21, Psalm 22:19-31, Proverbs 20:8-10
