MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

WHEN YOU'RE THE "WE CAN'T DO WITHOUT"

Read John 6:1-68

John 6:68, KJV

"Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."

When there are no other choices, what is choice is what is used. God made Philip the "I can't do without to the Ethiopian Eunuch." If the Ethiopian Eunuch would ever receive a supply of understanding on what he has read, he would need an interpreter. In that desert they were, no other person was obviously visible at sight. That's why God sent Philip to him as the last resort so that he won't just escape to Africa like that without having heard the gospel. Face to face, he was with Philip in the desert. No other person could help him understand the Scriptures but Philip. He can't say, "I don't like how you're dressed." As long as Philip is ready to help him understand the Scriptures and offer a hand to him on what he needs, he's opened to Philip.

May people come face to face with you. May God so much make you important and to be esteemed to the world that they can't but listen to you as one that has the words of life.

In today's passage, Jesus began a line of discussion that has to do with the manna the Israelites were fed in the wilderness through Moses hands. Jesus rather said He is the bread of life and that without eating his flesh and drinking his blood, no one can have eternal life. The Jews were first offended at this as they wonder if they'll indeed eat Jesus physical flesh. Later in time, Jesus said no one can come to Him except those that the Father draws to him. These amidst many words got some of his disciples offended. They must have believed Jesus was beginning to attach much importance to Himself while diminishing them. On that basis, they left. When Jesus saw some of the outer disciples leave, He faced the disciples with this.

John 6:67, KJV

"Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?"

It was this question that birthed our head verse today. The disciples through Peter said, "who shall we go to. It is You that has the Word of life."

This is he who God has made every minister and this should be your reason as a bearer of the gospel and one whom the Bible described to have beautiful feet not to water down what the Lord is saying. Jesus was not seeking to pull rank. He needed to say what he said. What He said were the truth to say. Those who took shipping seeking him all around did not because they wanted to hear the Word but because they were looking for the repetition of being fed to their fill. So, Jesus needed to correct this and many others. Why some pastors lack the strength of the calling is because they have accommodated error, indecency and inappropriate acts for long until they don't have force, strength or respect from the congregation to turn something again. You can continue long in a thing until you become reprobate or have your conscience seared and begin to see the abnormal as normal.

To all those ministers who have not bowed to Baal or kiss him by giving to the people what they like to hear that tickles their fancy and makes them give fleshly comments, God has a commitment to you. Some may leave but some will stay. Those who can't endure will always leave. Let your teaching sift men for you amidst men. If you refuse to rebuke as you ought to, shaft and wheat will continue to be in your ministry. Shaft must leave.

This is a call to all genuine disciples to have stomach for correction and what is righteous to practice. If you're looking forward to not being offended, you won't come to church. Any who comes to God must be spoken to. Except if your life has been made wholly perfect. That's when you'll always escape God's Word but if you're like everyone who still gasps for being made whole, God's word will hook you to correction and divine arrest one day.

Despite all, God will make you important to men. They'll always come to a repentance of action or resolution while remembering, you bear the word of life. May God honour all ministers of the gospel bearing the precious seeds of the word in this manner.
