BINDING AND REBUKING THE SPIRIT OF SUICIDE

"12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea."

The Bible says, "The thief only comes but to steal, kill and destroy" but that He (Jesus) came that we might have life and have it abundantly. That is bad news versus good news. Bad news because the thief (the One who steals by stealth) which is the devil comes to destroy. Good news because Jesus (the author and giver of life) comes to give us life and gives us abundantly. We are thankful because the life giving act of Jesus Christ counteracts the destructive works of the devil. The Bible says, "For this reason the son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil" (I John 3:8).

It is the devil who collects and deprives you of life (and enjoyment of good life) fully. Jesus does the opposite. He yielded His life for us to have eternal life and then to enjoy the shepherded and contented life on earth as we submit to go out with Him to find pastures. Only Jesus makes sacrifices for us. The devil is too selfish to do the same.

There's nowhere where Jesus would be and tolerate the works of the devil. He destroys it. He wipes it all clean. We should take a cue from Him also since a disciple cannot be greater than his master but rather do the work that he does. Never pally with the devil or his activities. I was once in a church for over a year where I ministered alongside an anointed man of God but the elders in that local church would not want deliverance or the casting out of demons to be done. They esteemed their ego and preferred respect for themselves than being freed. They said, "they were being exposed and embarrassed even as people fell, screamed, shivered, coughed, shook, ran helter skelter, confessed and got their deliverance." They persecuted that work until it was hindered and unfortunately stopped.

How can you preserve self respect or reputation against being freed? When a demon is cast out of people and those manifestations follow which may be embarrassing (because it could be strange and intimidating), it doesn't mean the minister intends to cause you shame. Rather, it's a way for that demon to scare people away from receiving their deliverance by showing them the embarrassing sides especially when he doesn't want to release his host. At times, a demon could tear people on the ground or make them foam in the mouth. Many manifestations there be but irrespective of the manifestation or the kind of demon, Christ's authority which you have been delegated could get the work done.

On that note, let's take a leap into seeing the spirit of suicide that has gone into town in recent times with team spirits of depression, nothingness and hopelessness to push people off the cliff of life into death.

When Jesus casts out these demons that called themselves Legion, they begged and were given leave into the swine that was fed by the water. As they rushed into these pigs, they possessed and moved them in a rush into drowning themselves in the sea. That was absurd!

These were pigs who were in their normal senses a few seconds ago. They never thought of dying or committing suicide but as soon as these violent demons who had suffered that mad man of Gadarenes got released from his own inside, they unleashed their violence in their new hosts. They drove a multitude of living things (about 2,000) to death at a time.

It was a shock and one of the great losses recorded in the Bible. It is now you can understand afresh what that mad man of Gadarenes had suffered. What he contained that controlled his behavior into doing himself harm were those demons that led numerous swines into committing suicide. They just immediately had a new orientation and a new mind of their own. They immediately became insane like that mad man. Being unable to pedal down and contain that insanity like the mad man of Gadarenes did (since he was a human host I guess), they drowned and perished immediately.

It's not ordinary to be driven to the edge of hopelessness where one begins to entertain thoughts to take his own life. If no life is precious to one, yours should be. But even when that is compromised, then we should suspect the devil is at work. On this note, we bind every spirit of insanity, violence, misbehaviour (doing of harm to oneself by indulging in certain acts and not perceiving it as harmful) and consequently suicide. We bind and cast you out of your hosts in Jesus name. Rather, let the Spirit of sound mind and of faith take over. May victims of the devil's harassment be henceforth well clothed, seated coolly and be gathered together to even take instructions from Him as disciple's henceforth.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: I bind the devil and cast him out wherever he has had a foothold in my life.

OBEDIENCE!

Mark 5:6, KJV

"But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him."

Did you not marvel at this verse above? Let me give you a background story on the event being told there.

Jesus takes a ship, crosses to the region of the Gadarenes. As soon as he steps out of the ship, a mad man that could not be tamed immediately runs towards him, bowing to Him. Isn't that strange considering the fact that Jesus didn't say or make any prayer to command such an adhering act?

Brethren, may I tell you something? Just live the Christian life. As you live and grow in the Christian life, you'll find yourself becoming like Christ and certain consequences will naturally follow you. There will be many things that you won't have to pray for before they happen. Christ's life in you and your growth in Christ will create them. They will just happen without you having consciously triggered a thing. Rather, they'll come from having had the life and from living the life.

What we must all know is that the born again man or woman isn't ordinary. He is set high above principalities and powers (Eph.1:20-22, 2:6). If that be, he or she can't but have the obedience of both the evil and even natural forces of the world. This demon possessed man answered to Jesus. Same way, Satan and his demons will become answerable to you. Wherever you step into, they will immediately come around to report themselves to you first of all. That act depicts how fearful they have become and how honourable you are - wrapped in Christ's righteousness. A demon shouldn't be comfortable where you are. Your mere presence should expose it as Jesus' did.

Certain verses in the Psalms speak of your authority in Christ Jesus and how it puts devils to flight, making them answerable to you.

Psalms 18:44-45, KJV

"44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places."

That's exactly how commanding Jesus' presence was at arrival to this part of the sea. Our verse says, "And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit" (Mark 5:2).

It was immediately. It was as if that demon had received a notice that a greater than he had arrived. In fact, that was what happened. So, it went immediately to do obeisance and worship. He went immediately to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and as head of all principalities and powers.

Mark 5:6, KJV

"But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped Him."

If this demon knew Jesus to worship Him, I'll say if you're born again and practicing daily Christianity, the devil knows you too to submit to. As a matter of fact, that gives you authority to dispel them because that's exactly what Jesus eventually does to that demon. He dispelled him (them) from the host.

Herein is that Psalm fulfilled that, "As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me."

Why will this happen? For short, because of the presence of God (life of God) in you. Only He that is of God can have such submission and command such obedience. When some seven sons of Sceva wanted to prove this to reversal without Christ's life, they received shocking dealings because they were mastered by those demons instead of having mastery over them and commanding their obedience (Acts 19:13-16).

In the spirit realm, demons know you to submit to if you are born of Christ. Believe and exercise your authority over them. Cast them out!

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, I am your arm and rod on the earth to continue the ministry of Jesus. I will preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead. I for short will do the greater work.

WHEN I HAD CONSIDERED IT IN THE MORNING LIGHT - The Despiser's Series 004

I Kings 3:21, KJV

"And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear."

Light exposes! There's nothing hidden that'll not be exposed Jesus said. That is truthful but exposure of truth could be delayed especially when there's no light at hand to reveal that which is hidden. Why people don't have solutions on a particular matter will therefore be because there was no entrance of light afforded them on the matter.

This woman just didn't make her discovery. Her discovery of the truth and the separation of that from the manipulation in which she was shrouded in the night earlier was ended because of her exposure of the matter to light.

Ephesians 5:13, KJV

"But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light."

She was almost accepting the manipulation and lie of the devil. She could have agreed to it naively that it was her son who was dead but she took one last step as she was afforded. When the morning came, she tried the situation and proved it in the morning light again.

"...but when I had considered it in the morning, behold it was not my son, which I did bear."

Did you see where her salvation came from? It came from letting light into the matter. It came from being patient enough to subject the matter at hand to a closer investigation under the morning light. She could have been confused and unsure in the dark but light has one nature, it exposes what is hidden. The truth had to come out upon collision with the light. That's why she tested the dead child and thrust him to the light. She was hopeful that the daylight would give her the opportunity to see clearly and mark for herself what is real or false. Every hypocrisy camouflaging as your reality collapses at the entrance of light. Fortunately for her, the lies were exposed because she could see by specific and distinguishing features that the dead child was not her son - the one she had given birth to.

You too, let that matter come under closer scrutiny. Don't do anything in darkness. As a matter of fact, you can't have correct disclosures. Put the matter under closer inspection. You may not be able to know the trueness of that knotty problem at hand unless you have considered it to and fro. When you do, understanding will sip in and you'll decipher the truth from the lies.

God is calling us to closer inspection of things. Just don't collect things or agree to it without probing to hold unto that which is truth. If you do, you'll collect second hand goods even when your bargain is grade A. Prove things by closer scrutiny. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 5:21, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." You can't know the truth or what is truthful if you haven't considered it under the careful microscopic lens. When you do, only then will you see the situation for what it is. What is knotty at hand in your life? May inflow of light exposes its real and truthful nature. May nothing camouflage to deceive you.

PRAYER: Lord, I bring my life and operations under the light of your governance. I expose every work of the devil in my life. Not one shall find a comfortable suite.

JUST RISING UP AND GOING YOUR WAY - The Despiser Series 003

Genesis 25:34, KJV

"Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright."

Rising up and going your way without detecting you have entered a bad deal or arrangement is a serious danger. The Bible uses that language of "rising and going on" because Esau had no awareness that he had committed a foul and sold his future. He never knew the weight of his action. So, he acted like he would on ordinary days. After the sealing of the agreement to barter his birthright for porridge, he rises and goes on - without a second thought or discovery of his wrong doing. If he had been tipped off by someone or something on the need to reverse the agreement, he probably wouldn't have walked away. However, nothing was discovered. He rather ate, drank, rose up and went his way. No awareness of any transaction having been done. No fear of future consequences at all.

God wants you to be a careful observer. Such a sensitive fellow that nothing bypasses. Esau is a despiser. A despiser doesn't care. They don't do their due diligence. They always push their responsibilities to another - hoping they'll be saved by another hand when God ordains that their seriousness saves them. The attitude of a despiser is to eat and drink and forget the treasury but rather walk away.

Let's look at the Bible. Two prostitutes give birth in the same house. One overlays her child and it dies. Seeing this at midnight while the other sleeps, she exchanges her dead child for the other's living child. Meanwhile, something unexpected happened in the morning. None of us would have thought that would have been possible. How could someone be so observant as to recognize her baby isn't her baby? Babies are very difficult to tell apart at birth especially if weight does not differ and there's no special cut or mark telling them apart. However, this woman is one given to due diligence. Her intelligence and gathering of information amazes me.

I Kings 3:21, KJV

"And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear."

This woman has something going on for her. She is a careful observer. She pays attention to details unlike Esau who only signed an agreement, rose and walked away without ever coming to the realization of its sentences. This woman said, "But when I woke up in the morning and had considered the child in the morning light, it was not the son I gave birth to."

That's a fellow you cannot cheat. That's a fellow whose observation and sensitivity skills have been well sharpened. She could detect the works of the devil around her and even against her. Immediately, she arrested it. She said, "I considered it in the morning light and saw this was not my son."

Meaning, she detected she had been robbed. Somebody had exchanged the bad for the good. Nothing went undetected. She was awake and aware unlike Esau who was fed pottage of lentiles, rose up and went his way. This woman refused to go her own way. She refused to agree to a wrongly signed document. She refused to go with a clause and manipulation of the enemy while she slept. At waking up and at morning light, she rather puts what was said to be hers to a test (observation) and finds out they have exchanged "a birthright for a morsel of meat" for her. Immediately, she raised an alarm which at day's end played in her favour when the King, wise Solomon decreed that the living child be given to her (I Kings 3:27).

Brethren, what sort of person are you? Are you this alive in spirit? Are you this careful and observant? Or you just don't mind what happens around you? If you are, a lot of demonic switching and tampering will happen and you'll be left unaware. However, when their manifestations begin to speak in years to come, you'll wonder when they entered. The entry point was years back but because you were too dead to notice, you were sold goods that you didn't pay for. I pray for you, may the alarm bell rise in you whenever the devil - the thief comes around you to steal, kill or destroy. May you see for what it is that the devil is hiding. May his works be clearly exposed. May he not go unnoticed, unarrested or stopped.

PRAYER: Nothing bypasses me. I can see and detect the vibrations of the thief around me. I stop and destroy his works.

EATING, DRINKING AND GOING ONE'S WAY - The Despiser Series 001

Genesis 25:34, KJV

"Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright."

May you not lose knowing. May knowing not suddenly fall off from you. When you inspect yourself, may you still find yourself to be aware and awake. A lot there be who have lost knowing. No heart pricking or sensitization towards what they should arrest or mind. Rather, it all looks plain to them. Have you seen waters hiding reptiles like crocodiles from plain sight before? It is always quiet. No rumbling, turning or stirring. Everything always looks quiet until you near it, get comfortable by it and receive a surge/attack from the ferocious animal.

That's why you must be with the special equipping - the equipping to know. Look at today's verse. It says something worthy of notice but which was also troubling.

Genesis 25:34, KJV

"Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright."

Don't think it was a favour Jacob just did Esau. To Esau, it might look that way but it is beyond just the administering of bread and pottage to one's brother. It comes at a cost. It looked plain but it was a time bomb hidden from plain sight.

The Bible says, "Esau ate, drank and rose up and went his way..." Meaning, at that time when Esau could have made a life changing observation, he did not. Rather, he only "ate, drank, rose up and went his way." May you cry when you could be heard! May you charm the snake when there's still a remedy. What that place is saying is that Esau is careless. He couldn't make any observation though his future was being sold. Even after the eating when he observed what he had done, he could have reversed it through another bargain if he insisted. However, he saw no reason for fear or a change. He ate, drank and went his way (without proferring any solution to the problem he had created for himself).

Are you this kind of person? One who eats, drinks, rises up and goes his way without detecting anything went left. If you're this kind of person, you will count a lot of losses in life. The testimony and regret of Esau is what could come on you later on in life. What does the Bible say of him?

Hebrews 12:17, KJV

"For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears."

It was at this juncture in time the realization of what he did back then hit him. It never hits him when he could turn back immediately and reverse the order (instead of standing up just like that and walking away). That made me pray earlier on for you that even if you make mistakes, it'll be within the corrected boundaries. Esau came at the wrong time wanting to correct the deeds of probably yesteryears. The Bible says, "He sought it with tears but found no place of repentance..."

It means the door was shut against him. It means the second chance that he could take became expired. What a thing! I pray for you, "May you be on time!" May you strike the iron while it is hot. May you make hay while the sun shines. May you speak when it'll be valuable and may you run when it is needful. May your actions fall into their right seasons. May they be timed to happen, finding their right moments.

PRAYER: Lord, awaken my spirit man. Let me be awake and aware. I refuse to be cheated successfully. Tip me off Holy Spirit. May I take heed when it concerns my life and future.

YEARNING FOR THE BIRTH OF GOD'S KINGDOM IN NEW AND EXTINGUISHED QUARTERS

If you're abroad and you're a Christian, especially in Europe and you're missing the many Christian programs that fed your spirit and soul while in the country (in Nigeria for instance), don't mourn any longer.

God is saying, "I want to use you to start the same where you are."

God can use you as an organizer of such programs that'll begin to refresh men.

These are seasoned programs that could be once a month or once in three months. It could take place in your living room for a start.

You may say I don't know what to preach. I don't have what to preach.

You, set up the stage and gather people. As God will minister to you, invite men of God who have God's Word with them for the people. Not men looking for food to eat and people to con.

We know ministers who are searching for food to eat by the kinds of THEMES they often curate for their programs. These never emphasize on New Life, Discipleship, Fruits of the Spirit, Prosperity as God's Provision (not excess or greed) etc.

Even if you don't know what themes to choose for those programs, you can consult with someone like me or any other trusted person you know and trusted with the WORD. I'll take you through the Bible even as we pray together and God will find us WORD for the season and the moment that people need to hear.

Stop mourning and saying, "This place (Europe, Canada, UK or Russia etc) are dry. If you cannot find what you're looking for, God wants to trust you with starting one.

Like I said, you don't have to be the preacher at the beginning. You can be the organizer and gatherer until you feel ready and have Words from God. That's the ministry of "one plants, the other waters but God gives the increase."

God is bringing to me the life of Demos Shakarian, founder of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship that's in many countries today.

Guess what?

He grew to a place where he asked the Lord, "what's my ministry?" The Lord said, "Your ministry is of helps." So, he began to use his money to organize programs and invite known ministers of God. He was not the one preaching but was bringing the gospel to people using the platform God organized through him.

Then as he progresses in that, do you know he got to a place where he began to move in the prophetic. Then, he himself had breakthroughs into greater waters of God's dimension.

That seems the pattern God is bringing my way for you.

BECAUSE MAN GOES TO HIS LONG HOME - I Still Have Pleasure Series 005

Ecclesiastes 12:5, KJV

"Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:"

Naturally and because man goes to his long home - the grave, he successively begins to die. As we mark each birthday, we actually take a step closer to death. Yet, we celebrate it! What an irony. As a man ages, certain potencies, strength and effectualness of his begin to depreciate. He begins to lose it one by one. It is to one big end - because he goes or is being prepared for his long home.

What amazes us in nature is that we can never remain young as we are today. We will age. That growth however is into depreciation. When the Bible says, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of your youth while the evil days come not nor the years when you'll say you have no pleasure in them", it was referencing old age and the need to quickly serve God when you can. As a man grows on and on, he loses desires in life and what it has to offer. Have you seen a ninety year old man whose dream is still to conquer the world? Have you seen an eighty five year old woman who's not content with daily bread but has her eyes up in the sky looking to make new marks for herself?

All those new and great works rarely happen for them at such age. As a matter of fact, they have come to be quieten at heart to take the back stage. If it is retirement, they retired long ago in their sixties. If it is child bearing, they ended that decades ago. Those they now receive are grand or great grand children being born on their knees. At such times, they are off the scene but in the secret of the home waiting for their Lord to come and for their work to follow them.

It humbles me that we will naturally depreciate bodily. The senses that were once active would depreciate. Vulnerability to cold and risk of sicknesses may be higher. Yet, all for one reason - because man goes to his long home.

It is a natural law. That is why you cannot refuse to die. Physically, everyone will die. That's because God has put a law in nature to wind us down physically until our body can no longer carry our spirit and soul again. It is at this young age you see it as an abomination to die. Once you reach a great age, death will be a reward to you. You will await when it will come to free you into your freedom and inheritance especially if you're born again.

But the good news is that while you wait for your long home, the dew of youthfulness miraculously can still rest on you. You can still escape from the frailties of many. Abraham and Sarah escaped from such as we saw in yesterday's devotional. Sarah asked, "Shall I still have pleasure or sexual desire for sex?" (Gen.18:12) but God fixed it. A ninety year old woman had her sexual urge woken up. And this is where the Word of God finds fulfilment that "in your old age, you shall still bear fruits" (Psalm 92:14).

That "you will still bring forth fruits" shows it should have been impossible except by the Lord's doing. Because of your intimacy with God however, you'll receive a renewal of mind and strength from Him to be resharpened and reorganized. Sarah had lost her sexual interest but what should we say to her getting it back? That's why you'll occasionally hear that one aged man still does something deserving of applause. That would raise questions, "even at that age?" Yes, even at that age. Even in your old age, you shall still bring forth fruits. As you wait for your long home, you shall still be productive - useful in counselling couples, raising children, writing books, speaking in seminars and being sought nationally. You won't just collapse and die. You'll use yourself fully.

PRAYER: Even at my old age, I shall bring forth fruits. I receive a bracing and renewal of mind and physical strength from God. His mind still sips into mine.

THOSE SAYING "SHALL I STILL HAVE PLEASURE" - I Still Have Pleasure Series 004

Genesis 18:12, KJV

"Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"

There are those saying, "shall I still have pleasure?" Many there be who having received a word of prophecy are in doubt because they are naturally out of the race. Such is the case of Sarah.

After Abraham had shown generosity to the divine emissaries he called into his home, God gave him a Word.

Genesis 18:10, KJV

"And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him."

This became an impossibility naturally because of what this verse says below.

"11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women."

So naturally, it was impossible for a child to be born in that state both Abraham and Sarah were. Abraham is very old and Sarah has ceased doing menstruation. So, where will a child come from? As Sarah herself puts it, "shall I still have pleasure?" Since it has ceased to be with her the way it is with every woman, she doubts the possibility of ever being able to conceive. She shifts the dynamics to, "shall I still have pleasure?'

We should enquire, "have pleasure for what?" Obviously for sex. She was saying, "When last did I have sex? I don't even get gyrated or moved towards that again. I've lost the desire for sex - the only way getting a child could happen naturally."

That was the question she posed and heaven heard. According to God's Word, what happened was that she carried a son at that time of the year as said by the mouth of the Lord.

This is what the Lord is saying. Are you there saying, "Can I still walk? Can I still use my leg? Can I still do this or that? Shall I still have pleasure at 90? Can I still have the libido or exercise the potency of a man after a damaged backbone?"

Stop seeing your case as closed. Whenever the Lord appears or speaks on a matter, He shifts and reprints the affairs of men. I don't know the specific thing God did for Abraham and Sarah but I sure know that God gave Abraham the strength to still sleep with Sarah and God in no doubt revived Sarah to have the pleasure of a young lady. The Bible says, "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb..." (Romans 4:19, KJV).

God can restore you. He restored Sarah. He did a work in her life that restored libido and sexual interest/desire back to her life. This way, the weak can say she is strong. This way, the dead can say she is alive. That is the kind of work God is doing in your life today. What is dead is being called back to work. Impossibilities are being threshed. God is saying, "At old age, you won't lose your vitality. You will still be strong, able and agile." For all those aged men and women fretted with weaknesses of old age, God is moving to heal you now. Be healed. Be restored. Receive your vitality and strength again. Have pleasure and take interest in life once more. Be young again at heart and in your body.

PRAYER: I shall not be weak both at heart and in my body. God moves to heal my weaknesses and sicknesses. I retain pleasure both to pursue my dreams and to exercise myself physically. I shall not be crippled or damaged in any way.

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them..."

What can you achieve without having sustained interest for it? Interest is the basis or platform on which your dreams and aspirations are constructed if they'll be fulfilled.

Sometimes ago, I chatted with one of the students I graduated in 2023. He's currently in a private Christian university in the country. I also used that means to enquire from him the admission statuses of his other classmates. One of such news that shocked me was hearing that one of her classmates, a student I as well taught had resigned from furthering her studies. I was just baffled because these were students who attended a private secondary school where a lot was spent on them. He said the girl said she would like to face business. She's an Ibo girl anyway so that might not be impossible for her to do. The sponsors run business. In my frantic pursuit to have an answer, I enquired whether it was because she had no sponsors again but the answer was in the negative.

Looking at the case and some knotty distractions that I heard now surround the girl as shared with me, I asked for her contact in order to open her eyes to the need for a tertiary education even if it'll just be a degree.

I found out that only one thing was missing - interest in tertiary education. While others were giving their best and trying multiple schools for admission, how can a 16 year old girl say she would settle down for business? I was just bewildered at what a person could become that we never saw coming.

What changed in her? What did she lose? Interest! She has come to a place where she's saying, "I have no pleasure in education again."

I could also remember the case of my own mother. My mother had shared this story with us a number of times while we were growing up in order for all her children to receive a push to pursue academically. She said she had the opportunity to be educated abroad. My mum was initially from a Muslim background before marriage. As she said, "Bro. Dauda (her uncle) had just arrived from abroad to Nigeria during one festive period." Since nobody could persuade her again to further her schooling, he was asked to do so. Calling her by her first name, he urged her to continue and that he'll be responsible for the sponsoring.

According to my mother, she refused and told Bro. Dauda she'll face trading that she had started with already. Bro. Dauda then took it further, "What about leaving the country with me?"

All these were attempts to change her mind. Despite all, my mother turned it down. She said, "she was deceived by some petty money she was earning then and the boyfriend -girlfriend relationship she was in."

At the end, my mum never got educated past Primary School - something that pains her as often as she remembers. Her pain always gets doubled whenever there are opportunities that she could have pursued with certifications if she had gone after it then.

Don't lose interest. Some have lost interest in pursuing Ph.d because the Master's they did was strenuous. Why won't it look strenuous when it was after some years of having finished undergraduate studies you were going back for study? That made it look as if you were just starting again. Look, if you won't lose your pleasure, desire, interest or inner drive to do things, you'll go far. Nobody can counsel you beyond how dead or driven you are on the inside. Your eyes might open later but it will just be too late.

May you not join the group of those saying, "I have no pleasure in them again" especially now that you're still young, having the resources and sponsors to make things happen for you.

PRAYER: I rebuke the spirit of error and deception subtly persuading me I've gotten to my destination when the bus stop is still ahead.

THE NORMAL VERSUS ABNORMAL CONFESSIONS - I Still Have Pleasure Series 002

Ecclesiastes 12:1, KJV

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them..."

Looking at this verse that we began to treat yesterday, you could see the normal confession that no one will chide you for if you ever confess and the one that will make people wonder if you were healthy if you were to confess.

Those are the confessions of the "old age" and the man with "the dew of youth still on him." The Bible acknowledges two seasons in that verse. It says, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth..." That's the youthful season of anyone's life being referenced.

It then goes on to contrast that part with another that says, "...while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them." That second part refers to your old age and mine.

Those are the two seasons in a man's life. The first, time of youth and the other, when he begins to lose pleasure and interest in life and what he once held in high esteem. That's why the title of today's teaching has been fittingly called, "The normal versus the abnormal confessions." At old age, people would confess when enjoined to participate in certain things that, "they have no pleasure in them again." While this confession is true for a grey head and can in no way wake up questions or challenge, it'll be otherwise for a man still in his youth.

Even the laws of nature do not support a youth saying, "I have no pleasure in life or its activities again." If you indeed have no interest in life, how will you pursue purpose and fulfill your destiny? That's because it takes interest in life and one's calling to exercise oneself towards becoming what God has called one to be. What you must know is that "pleasure" which we best interpreted as "interest" is the lifeline of youths. That's why they can be seen gallivanting up and down. Take this festive period for instance. How many aged men and women did you see sounding with knockouts? To them, that is childish. They probably once did that but now they have not only outgrown it but they have lost interest in such an act. Such an act cannot bring them gratification like it used to do before. It cannot put a smile on their faces like it once did. So, they literally shed it. But what allowed for the shedding is nothing but for the fact that they have come to lose interest or pleasure in doing a lot of things at that stage of their lives. So, things that once excited them seem to be out of place now.

Are you there having the confession of the aged head, saying, "I have no pleasure in life again." Any young man or woman who holds this confession is sick one way or the other. Either he has been affected by life to have come to hold another perspective of it or he's mentally ill. A young man or woman with an abundance of years before him can't suddenly say "Let me retire. I'm tired of life. I'm bored" when he's just starting and hasn't achieved anything. He can't suddenly wake up dispirited or demotivated. Rather, he wakes up with the dew of his youth and fires on. He's so interested in life that he or she could easily be distracted by it. That's why he's even the direct target of the advertisement world where the 'lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eyes and pride of life" are turned out.

Buying a designer bag may not interest an 80 year old woman like it would move a 24 year old lady. Engaging in greed, lasciviousness or immorality will not appeal to someone who already has lost his/her drive for them but for someone whose senses are still very keen - he or she will find them attractive. That's why there's a need for caution and redirection of focus. That's why that verse says, "Dedicate that moment of your keenness to God. Use it to remember your Creator by serving Him and walking in His commands." If there's nothing of such, one will just waste the time of his youth and divert interest into the wrong things that'll lead to major risks either now or later at old age.

So, while it's acceptable for any aged head to say, "I no longer have pleasure in them (that is the array of things that constitute life or living), it is forbidden for a youth to keep the same confession. Therefore, rise and fire on. Use the keenness of your senses, the dew of your youth and the strength of life you have now to become somebody while you may. Don't forget that knowing God is also a key choice. This is the time you have sharp senses to feel after Him. Now, you can give Him yourself and your time. As a matter of fact, consecrate your life to Him for His use.

PRAYER: Lord, I acknowledge you have loaded me with youthfulness. May this be used to further Your kingdom and achieve my divine purpose.

WHEN THOU SHALT SAY I HAVE NO PLEASURE - I Still Have Pleasure Series 001

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Ecclesiastes 12:1, KJV

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them..."

Do you mean we will all get where we will profess, "I have no pleasure in them." That period is no other but a time when what charmed no longer does. At such a moment, things basically lose their spell on us and it seems we no longer feel experiences deeply and strongly like before. At such natural stage of man, he begins to die and return.

Here's Solomon sending a warning on the need for us to maximize our youthfulness. Solomon admonishes us to "Remember our Creator in the days of our youth..."

Then, he emphasized, "while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them."

The evil days and the years that draw nigh with the confession of "I no pleasure in them" refer to old age. At old age, activities lose their cords with which they have held us bound for years. Your senses to start with will diminish in potency. The “pleasure” Solomon refers to in its entirety includes physical vitality, sensory enjoyment (sight, sound, taste), sexual desire, independence and courage, enjoyment of life itself. Solomon was making a point when He said, one will get to a place where one loses interest in general activities of life that one once lived actively to rejoice in. Then, you'll hear, "Let the young continue. It's their own time." The reason for such an attitude or statement was then given, "because man goes to his long home..." (Eccl. 12:5).

It therefore becomes a subject matter of interest to me to consider "interest" and the role it plays in our lives. What happens to a man who still retains a "burning interest or desire" - the very thing KJV called "pleasure?" My prayer for you is that you will not lose interest in life. Anybody who loses interest in life to start with is such who commits suicide. When people who still have long years ahead of them, even to correct whatever mistake they've made claim their own lives, then it could be said that they have lost interest in life. Wherever there's interest, desire or pleasure, there's always a present fire to continue to pursue. Giving up or casting in the towel is a sign of having been dispirited or of losing interest. If you do not have your interest doused, then you can still go on to achieve what you couldn't achieve last year. 2026 affords you with a new page to write on.

Don't forget what Solomon said in that opening chapter. It says, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of your youth when the evil days come not nor the years draw near when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them." Solomon is saying, "aged people naturally lose interest in life and its busyness." That's why they no longer bother on acquiring the latest of gadgets. What freaks you doesn't move them again. The reason is not because they aren't flesh and blood as you are but because they have lost interest in those things that used to appeal and trouble the senses. Degradation has happened to their senses for sure. They can't feel, hear, see or taste like before. As such, their admiration and interest also reduces over this world's affairs, goods and their pursuit.

That's why I prayed earlier that you won't become tired. You don't necessarily have to grow old before you have the confession of aged people who say, "I have no pleasure in them." Many youths are already tired, fainting and collapsing on the road. My prayer is that you will have pleasure in what you should still retain pleasure for. May you still burn after life, taking it by its horns to discharge the will of God in the time you have to live - having your strength intact.

If you've been jilted, betrayed or broken from a relationship before, you might have gotten where you no longer have pleasure or interest in trying or doing that business again. There are people who have vowed they'll never remarry because they were hurt from their previous marriages. Such have come to the state of these aged humans who are only expecting their departure to their "long home." Nothing best describes them than, "I have no pleasure in them" again.

Have you seen anyone that has lost interest? He cannot sprint or attack a goal. He'll rather tell you to let it go. Your interest and desire must be alive still in 2026, greatly than before. You need it to do life and wage a good warfare. If you're not disinterested in life, living and following still, then I don't need to see a vision before telling you you'll surely make it. Why? The Bible says, "There's hope for a tree if it be cut down that it will sprout again. Though the roots wax old in the ground..., yet it shall bud up at the scent of water" (Job 14:7-9).

At the sight of the right opportunity, the appearance of divine coincidence and timing and in the presence of the right resources, you can't but bounce back and make a big catch. Stay in the fight! That's what will happen to you. If you won't pack up to resign and resolve that you wouldn't make new attempts again, then you can't but achieve big. Only those without dreams again don't breathe or live actively by keeping interests alive in themselves. If you carry a burning desire or expectation, it will not only keep you awake; it will keep you active. God is saying, be especially interested in this year. Be especially interested in doing good. Let interest - desire be stirred in you to live actively and to the fullest. Don't be like those waiting for their final bus to their "long home" - grave. If there's life, there's hope. If you won't lose your interest or say, "you have no pleasure in pursuing your dreams again', I bet it with you that you'll make it.

Don't give up. Has church or we ministers of God disappointed you? Don't lose interest in God. Else, you won't be able to pursue Him nor seek to know Him. You have to keep interest alive. That's when you can float like a balloon in water. All those without interest will sink into the water like led. Keep interest alive and all things become achievable for you. As a matter of fact, that's when you can see doors all around and where doors are not.

PRAYER: I am inflated anew. Nothing deflates me. I refuse to be dis-spirited. I entered this year 2026 as a giant: able and potent to achieve. I shall not be demotivated. I go in this my revealed might.
