WHAT GOD WANTS YOU TO DETAIN THAT HAS BEEN PASSING YOU BY CONTINUALLY

II Kings 4:9, KJV

"And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually."

God will give you ears all over your body. The type that will make you arrest what should be detained at once. You can get to a place of sure knowing even at the first contact. You don't have to encounter the second time before you confirm the reality of what you should draw into your house or welcome as heaven's blessings into your home. You can at a contact decipher people for who they are and take a decision on them - to befriend or put at arm's length; to let into your house or let loose.

Look at Abraham and how at once he refuses to let go of the strangers who pass by him.

Genesis 18:2-3, KJV

"32 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

3 And said, My LORD, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:"

"Pass not away...from thy servant." What has been slipping off your own hands that God intends should have been brought in? It could have been due to your negligence, lack of attention to details or hospitality. What I know is that God is on your matter today. How did Abraham know that the Lord and two angels have just come down? How did he have a clue that these divine beings are connected to the receiving of Isaac - the promised child? (Gen. 18:14). Though the Bible didn't specifically mention any act of perception, yet we saw a man who fulfills Hebrews 13:2, "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have entertained angels unawares."

Imagine what Abraham was drawing to himself and to his house when he persuaded those men to come on, dine and rest with him. Is there space in your house for December's blessing? This cart that's on the move, can God mercifully stop it at your house? God wants you to be an 'opportunist' like Abraham. He's not dull of perception at all. God might send one by you and irrespective of how, it will just be recognized for what it is and taken in. You must know your time that has come.

That Shunammite woman says, "I perceive this is a holy man of God which passes by us continually." God did not intend that Elisha would have passed them by continually countless numbers of times without their drawing him in. Rather, it was their dull hearing and late perception that led to that. God was so merciful that He kept sending Elisha that same way until they came to a realization of themselves. That's God's mercy to compensate for their many failed attempts to get hold of the provision He has exclusively sent their way.

God is saying, "how many times will I speak and you will not hear?" God is saying, "I've sent the answer to your prayers but do well to search yourself. You aren't fulfilling your part. It's mine to make your paths cross but it's yours to accept, receive and welcome into your life and consequently your house."

God has sent some their spouses. They have met and interacted even a number of times. The only thing that is lacking in their lives is that they have refused to perceive that, "this is he/she." That woman exclaims eventually during her moment of revelation saying, "I perceive that this is a holy man of God which has been passing by us continually."

God wants you to acknowledge your fault. If you acknowledge your sin and confess them, you'll receive forgiveness of sins (I John 1:9, Prov. 28:13). For every opportunity and blessings that you have prayed for till now but which you have missed, God wants you to acknowledge that He sent them but you were the one who out of your novices let them pass by you continually. That woman acknowledged that. She acknowledged the fact that God won't come down from heaven to help them contain Elisha or make him part of their household. Elisha (the moving blessing and the holy man of God) could have been earlier detained but their lack of perception didn't allow them to go to that mile of trusting and seeing him as someone they could open their door to.

The Bible says in Job 33:14, "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not."

You see, the fault is with man. He's the one without perception. God's communication and message reached him in clarity but he just couldn't decipher and interpret what it means and how it should be used. God is repairing hearings today. God is helping you to fine tune your channels today. God is beating you into alignment today. God is helping you to catch, dot and stay on the right frequency today. You will no longer lament in regret saying, "This is a holy man of God which passes by us continually." Once God speaks, twice you will hear. That's how sharp and full of perfection you will be. In 2026, you will draw with your nets into your boat every blessing meant for you. Not one shall bypass you due to negligence or a lackadaisical attitude. Not one! At every point in time when an opportunity, a flight or a benefit you should take is being publicly advertised, you'll have a knowing that you should put in for that job, speak with that critical person, visit that critical place, invest in that critical business etc. At that moment and on the spot, God will grant you a moment of revelation that will make you howler and say, "Now I perceive that this is a holy man of God - that long awaited and missed blessing." You will see things for what they are. You will not have the problem of mistaken identity. You will not see men as trees. You will see rightly and on time. I pray for you, enter into moments of revelation and constant understanding henceforth. When it matters and is critical to your well being, "may you know and not be out of perception." Wake up to the realization of every dots and tittles that you have taken for granted.

PRAYER: I wake up to the realization of every dots and tittles that I have taken for granted till now.

WHICH PASSES BY US CONTINUALLY

II Kings 4:9, KJV

"And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually."

May God open your understanding. May you experience the miracle of the open eyes. When you see, you see what has been there. When Hagar's eyes were opened, she saw all along the well of water that had been there and critical to both herself and her child (Gen. 21:19).

May you not remain the same again. Rather, may God impinge on your faculty so that you will be enlightened. The time we have wasted would not be recovered or compensated for if we never come to the realization of what has bypassed us or that we have bypassed for this while. This Shunammite woman made a statement that shows they've been oblivious in part to what God has been doing or wants to do in their lives.

II Kings 4:9, KJV

"And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, WHICH PASSETH BY US CONTINUALLY."

She perceives that Elisha is a holy man of God. That he is a "holy man of God" makes him God's representative - one that could only bring them joy and fullness but not harm. That he is a holy man of God means there are certain things that could only travel with him. Curses, evils and jinxes couldn't have journeyed with Elisha but the opposite. Of a certainty, Elisha is a holy man of God and if he is, he should be accommodated and given a space so that what he carries and brings can run contagious to them. Who wants to reject what God sent, equipped or empowered with certain blessings for one's taking? That he's a holy man of God is what makes this woman persuade the husband into building a space for Elisha upstairs. She saw something special in Elisha. What did she say then?

II Kings 4:10, KJV

"Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither."

Before the invention of, "let us build a little chamber for him", this woman acknowledged their having missed a blessing and opportunity in Elisha. Don't forget that she was not seeing with the physical sight but the spiritual. She said, "I PERCEIVED that this is a holy man of God which passes or has been passing by us continually."

Though Elisha has stopped often to eat bread at her place yet that was all. After that, Elisha was put on his journey. He never tarry beyond eating bread. Meanwhile, the spiritual tentacles of this woman sensed more than just a man to be entertained and put on his way. Something is convincing this woman that Elisha should be made a member of their household. How? "Let us build him a little chamber where when he comes, he can turn in and rest." That's the device, net or trap that they used to collect and contain Elisha as theirs. They just want that blessing of God's presence to be retained with them.

Doing this, they trapped the blessing that has been bypassing them continually. It seems to me you also need enlightenment. It seems to me unless the veil is taken away you might not see the truth about your situation and certain events that have been playing around you. You might think they are all normal and nothing special.

This morning, you'll cry to God. You'll tell him to destroy every veil that has prevailed against your sight and understanding. You will ask for Him to arise His light and make it shine in your darkness. You'll ask to see and see anew. You'll ask to understand and recognize things for what they are - blessings and opportunities that have been passing by you continually.

You see, God is faithful. It is now left for men to be dutiful. How many times has Elisha passed by Shunem and stopped at that woman's place to eat? Obviously many times. However, they were slow of heart to recognize him wholly as God's messenger to them and as a vessel to their future need (a child they've been hoping for). But one day, this woman saw and made her confession. She couldn't hold it again. She said, "Husband, come here sir. I perceive this is a holy man of God which passes by us continually."

That phrase, "passes by us continually" shows unrecognized or wasted opportunities. Today, your own eyes are being anointed with salve. You will see. The spirit of sensitivity and special recognition of people, events and even days to come leaps upon you. You're different from before! Hold down your blessings. Through your sensitivity, no glory, honour and blessing shall pass you by again. You will not let grace pass you untapped any longer. What has been prepared for you shall be taken by you. It shall not be sent or housed elsewhere.

PRAYER: I see. The veil is taken away. I sense, perceive and know. I am awake and aware. I ride on the back of the wave and take the opportunities sent my way. I shall not be amiss, lost and not found.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola ADEJUMO

WHILE SOME ARE BEATEN TO EXTINCTION!

Psalms 84:4, KJV

"Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee."

Some will die off. Some will not be able to continue into the distance before them. They shall in no wise progress. That won't be because God didn't plan progression for them but because they didn't live it out and so couldn't manifest it.

"Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, they will be still praising God."

Don't you think this verse has very much to do with the godly, blessed man in Psalm 1. In verse 3, the Bible likens this man to a tree planted by the streams of water that brings forth his fruits in his season, his leaf also does not wither and whatsoever he does, he prospers. What a life!

Psalms 1:3, KJV

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

This life is the life that continues because of his planting, siting or location. It is planted by the rivers of water. It literally takes source and life from God, the Holy Spirit and the Bible. God being his continuous feeder, this man reflects the perfectly blessed man. In fruits, that is character, godly influence, good works and output, he doesn't come behind. His leaves which speak of his beauty or outer life is one to covet as well. He doesn't shed leaves. He maintains its forms all year round. His joy, hope and peace are not tampered with by external circumstances. He is spiritually fresh. He endures heat and hard times and yet it doesn't show on him. Rather, he remains fresh. More importantly, he prospers in all he does. This prosperity is not the materialistic prosperity but the prosperity of the soul, mind teeming with ideas and as God gives it to him for His plans and will in his hands. He prospers in purpose and destiny, having what God will have him have for the fulfillment of the work in his hands.

However, for all these to happen, it has to be sited first. First of all, it had to be planted near an ever flowing source that can never come short. That's why when others are quieten down, out of service or production, this one person continues.

Since it's planted in the house of the Lord - a metaphor for God's presence, this person continues to take living and direction from Him. No wonder, he prospers in whatsoever he does. That's because each step he carries is ordered and birthed from instructions from the Lord. So, this man never stops giving what he is known for. That's what the Psalm 84 calls, "he will still be praising God."

The idea that a man in the Lord's house or presence will continue to praise God still irrespective of the heat or difficulty that has come upon the world sets a contrast that some fail at. So, while he still praises the Lord and maintains vitality, others are dried off, cut off and literally ended.

One thing is sure for you if you'll dwell in the Lord's house and be continually planted in his presence, you will be still praising God. That is, you will still be in Christian practices, churning out your fruits. You wouldn't have gone out of it. Joy and all sorts of spiritual expressions will continually still be called out of you. You'll just be like the tree planted by the streams of water that never stops producing and bringing new forth.

When other fans have stopped rotating, yours will maintain motion but it all depends into whom you're plugged into.

PRAYER: Lord, I'm plugged into You. I refresh my relationship with you anew. I know no ending. I produce and bring forth continually.

BY RIVERS OF WATER

Psalms 1:3, KJV

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

There are those God wants to relocate. There's a reason for that relocation. There's a reason for which He is transferring them from where they are to another place. There's a reason why He wants to change their jobs and why He has been calling for their change of jobs.

Why?

God is already looking at days to come. He could see the coming drought - economic challenges and depravity. So, He wants to get them ready, secure the future for them and secure provision for them. So, what does the Lord plan to do? What He plans to do is to re-site them. He'll carry them to where they should be relocated where they can take living and not feel the drought when it comes.

That's what Psalm 1 testifies of that tree planted by streams of water. By being intentionally planted there and not done randomly, it means God has a purpose. What is the purpose? That the planted tree might be able to take living - continuous living from the ever flowing rivers of water. "Rivers of water" in that Psalm signifies a continuous unfailing supply both in the rainy and dry seasons (both in times of abundance and economic meltdown).

God can see and He is already coming for some of you. He's saying, "seek to change your job now!" I want to plant you by a job that'll be a rivers of water to you so that you can take living in hard times from there. Planted by means you won't need to struggle but you'll draw from the rivers and flowing water. It means the new job will actually be better. It means it'll offer better prospects and be like a rivers of water to your tree - keeping you in your season. This is God's plan to provide for you. This is God's plan to secure a table before you in hard times and that's the exact thing why the siting of that tree (that blessed man) is by the rivers of water. It means in drought, it'll continue. That's why its leaves does not wither when others are shedding theirs. That's why he keeps saying there's a lifting up when others are saying there's a casting down.

Another picture of that is portrayed by the work God did for Elijah. When Elijah decreed the famine, what did God do to him. God relocated him beside Brook Cherith for a definite intention that he'll be able to take living from the brook.

I Kings 17:3, 5 KJV

"3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook."

A siting by a water source, one with a continuous supply is for the purpose of your continuity in hard days. God had to tell Elijah, go and hide yourself by Brook Cherith. For what purpose if not to take life from there? You'll do well to begin to scout for another job now that the Lord is calling for it. Let the Lord collect from you the job that cannot sustain you and give you one that can do just that.

Be located by the streams of water, by a brook that you can draw from. This is how God takes care of His own.

PRAYER: Lord, I move and I obey. May it be unto me according to your Word.

PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER

Psalm 1:3, KJV

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

When you're planted by the rivers/streams of water, certain things happen to you. According to Psalm 1, a man whose delight is in the Word of God is a man planted by the rivers of water.

Psalms 1:2, KJV

"But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."

When your delight is in something, you cherish it above all things else. You even spend time with it more than anything else. One way or the other, you just want to indulge in the joy or action of doing that thing. That's why the Bible says in that place, "And in His (God's) law does he meditate day and night."

Do you know why this blessed man as described in Psalm 1:1 meditates in the Bible day and night? It's because it's his delight. You don't exhibit repeated actions in what you don't like.

"Delight" is anything that gives great joy and pleasure. As you repeat it, instead of being tired of it, you rather get more satiated and fulfilled. Now, this blessed man has the Bible and its study as his own delight. As he studies the Bible often - even day and night, the Bible then says, "certain consequences are his because of how long and how much he has indulged in the Bible and the meditation of it."

That's why the Bible says for a man whose delight is in the law of the Lord, meditating in it now and then, he could only be likened to a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruits in his season, his leaf also does not wither and everything that he does prospers.

So, in essence, the real rivers of water that passage speaks of and recommends is the Bible. When you indulge in the Bible, studying and visiting it now and then, the Bible likens your fatness and flourishing to a tree planted by the streams of water. Before you know it, you'll have a fattened and robust spirit. Your mind will become active and most creative, teeming with all kinds of ideas.

God knows we can easily make connections with a tree planted by streams of water. He knows we sure know certain attributes of trees planted by streams of water. They always have water to take in. They always have accelerated growth and hit maturity in time. Such trees don't become dwarf because every resource and fertility needed is supported and availed them just by their siting. Also, they yield their fruits and leaves are every present on them (no down or withering season). In form and appearance, they maintain their beauty and summarily, in everything, they prosper. Why will you not prosper in everything when you have so looked into the perfect law of liberty as to be ordered and guided by it. Everything you do will prosper because you will always have light for living. You won't be one of the people who will carry the wrong step. Why? The Bible and the revelation you have soaked will bring you wisdom and be voices speaking for your guidance when you need them.

As if natural, you'll know which business to invest in and who to refrain from. You'll know what opportunity is yours and ones that are just booby traps. You will just know. The Word that you have made your delight - a mine field to extract day and night will have become your second nature prospering you even in both character and charismata (gifts).

This way, you will be noted for having been planted by the rivers of water - which is the Bible. Men shall see that your wisdom is older than your age even as you live in the future yet to come in the present.

For a man planted in the Bible, he just cannot escape those consequences. The Bible is nourishment to our spirits and souls. It's a rivers of water to thirsty souls.

PRAYER: Refresh and rekindle my love and attraction for the study of God's Word.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

A GOOD LOOKER NOT AN ONLOOKER

Proverbs 31:27, KJV

"She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness."

Yesterday, we examined this verse by focusing on "the bread of idleness" and how it is caused. Today, God will be interpreting this passage to us in a new way.

We already know that her not eating the bread of idleness is a consequence of her having looked unto the ways of her household. Meanwhile, I'm seeing something futuristic in that verse. The Bible says, "she looks unto the ways of her household...", that is, she oversees and probe the affairs of her household. In essence, she monitors her children's academic, spiritual, marital and whatsoever lives they have. She sees to everything. She ensures they operate with diligence and give their best to the field they have come to focus on. She ensures they excell in both trade and education. Now, because she does all these, we have the consequence that says, "and eats not the bread of idleness."

That is not only a consequence of her being a hard worker but of having raised well behaved children.

That is, what you sow is what you'll reap. Parents should draw near. It is how you harness your children they'll turn out to be. If you are a permissive parent, always allowing and approving of everything they decide to do (even when it is wrong), you'll have it. If you're a parent who cares less about who your children choose as friends, who they marry, how they study and how they achieve their things, it means you'll one day reap the fruit of your non-challance.

What you must know is that children are parents' insurance policy for tomorrow. Without having looked unto their ways today to ensure they become focused and successful people, how can you not eat the bread of idleness from their hands tomorrow - in the nearest future when you have retired from active work and when they should be your back up plan.

That's the futuristic part in that verse. A parent that refuses to look well to the ways and affairs of her family, especially her kids will raise anyhow kids that will not know what gratitude to parents is. They'll just be selfish even if they have. By looking unto the ways of her household, this woman passes the test by teaching them both values and characters. That's why the next verse in that chapter says, "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her" (Prov.31:28, KJV).

There are parents that their children will curse tomorrow - later in the future. Just watch. Why they will do that is already staring us in the face. That's because they by their non-challance have given these children who don't know better permission to misbehave. They have the permission to bring a foreign object that is not theirs home and not be probed. This is a future bomb. When they bully a neighbour, they are praised for standing up for themselves and not for inappropriate behavior. All these are the dangers that will accumulate to take the head of their parents in the future. Such children will be careless and poor. In essence, their parents will suffer its consequences. Even if they have resources, they'll prioritize riotous living while their parents are neglected.

Take warning, look well unto the functioning and systems of your household. Rebuke, correct and set right what is wanting. It's for the future.

PRAYER: Give me the discernment of a good parent with hands to shape character and right behavior in my children.

THE BREAD OF IDLENESS

Proverbs 31:27, KJV

"She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness."

The Bible recognizes there's a "meal of idleness." That's what it calls the "bread of idleness." Bread of idleness is not what comes to you or falls as your portion because God hates you or doesn't want to care for you.  Rather, it is what you attract or cause by your lazy attitude to work.

When a man refuses to work or be a hard worker, there's no way he won't eat the bread of idleness. Let me explain what bread of idleness is first of all. Bread of idleness doesn't necessarily mean "food or meals" only that are not elaborate, rich or sufficient. It means every proceeds from your inactivity and having not worked hard. If when your mates are applying themselves to work, seeking to go to school, acquiring a skill or an education, you're there chasing after shadows, you can't but one day reap the consequences of your idleness and inactivity. So, when people reap the repercussions of having or eating the bread of idleness, it means there's a life they had afore lived that brought that on them. Eating the bread of idleness is what any man causes for himself. It'll show in the general life he or she lives. Instead of being a life of sufficiency and abundance (overflow), it'll be a stringent life where resources are never enough. They're always getting stranded and trying to look for more. This may be a direct link to having not worked hard or earned well.

The Bible has warned that a man that doesn't work shouldn't eat (II Thess.3:10). It's as simple as A B C. If you have no work, you can't but be forced to eat the bread of idleness. You will have to depend on the crumbs or mercies of people. You will have to wait on people to toss to you what they have long used and can't keep for themselves any longer. You'll have to wait for people to kick to you certain change just for you to keep your body and soul together.

That is what it means to eat the bread of idleness. It simply means suffering the consequences of having not been engaging, firm with work and being the decider of one's fate or destiny.

That's what the Bible reports about this woman. It says, "she looks well to the ways of her household..."

Why does she do this? Because she doesn't want her children to turn out bad, idle or as lazy bones tomorrow. She looks well unto the ways of her household by correcting ills in her children and all domestic staff working for her. She seeks to set them right. She raises them well to be diligent, active and busy. It is this looking well unto the ways of her household that'll guarantee the future of her kids and down lines. When she is gone, they themselves will be independent men with their various vocations with which they'll be busy. That way, they cannot eat the bread of idleness. Hard workers and well rewarded people in life don't eat the bread of idleness. They are rather fed from choice meals, taking the kind of vacation they like and enjoying life's goodies.

They have the assorted life. They have varieties and choice meals to choose from. They are not limited to dry bread only or what life offers them. They make life happen. Now, because this woman looks unto the ways of her household - that is, how her household's personal affairs are conducted in, the Bible then concludes with, "and does not eat the bread of idleness."

Because she works and applies diligence to all, she is not amidst the multitude who tells their kids, "let us manage this", therefore hiding under the cloak that God will provide. If you don't work and work to be well rewarded, there's no way you can escape not eating the bread of idleness. What can a man do if he doesn't have resources in his pocket? Won't he settle for whatever is offered him? As a matter of fact, he'll receive it with utmost and deep appreciation.

That's why you must emulate this woman. Look unto your ways. Look unto the affairs of your family. Ensure no one is slack in their work, career or calling. Ensure everybody's hands are on the spindle and distaff of their professions. This way, nobody will be poorly treated by life. This way, no one will have little or less to eat. Rather, there will be abundance in the house. Rather, it is a table you will set like the kings' and nobles'.

If you do not carefully watch everything in your household, you'll suffer the harms and consequences that laziness and slackness produces somewhere. So, be vigilant lest poverty creeps into your household while you're wide awake.

PRAYER: Lord, I protect against eating the bread of idleness. I am fed from riches and fat.
