MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola ADEJUMO
BY RIVERS OF WATER
"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
There are those God wants to relocate. There's a reason for that relocation. There's a reason for which He is transferring them from where they are to another place. There's a reason why He wants to change their jobs and why He has been calling for their change of jobs.
Why?
God is already looking at days to come. He could see the coming drought - economic challenges and depravity. So, He wants to get them ready, secure the future for them and secure provision for them. So, what does the Lord plan to do? What He plans to do is to re-site them. He'll carry them to where they should be relocated where they can take living and not feel the drought when it comes.
That's what Psalm 1 testifies of that tree planted by streams of water. By being intentionally planted there and not done randomly, it means God has a purpose. What is the purpose? That the planted tree might be able to take living - continuous living from the ever flowing rivers of water. "Rivers of water" in that Psalm signifies a continuous unfailing supply both in the rainy and dry seasons (both in times of abundance and economic meltdown).
God can see and He is already coming for some of you. He's saying, "seek to change your job now!" I want to plant you by a job that'll be a rivers of water to you so that you can take living in hard times from there. Planted by means you won't need to struggle but you'll draw from the rivers and flowing water. It means the new job will actually be better. It means it'll offer better prospects and be like a rivers of water to your tree - keeping you in your season. This is God's plan to provide for you. This is God's plan to secure a table before you in hard times and that's the exact thing why the siting of that tree (that blessed man) is by the rivers of water. It means in drought, it'll continue. That's why its leaves does not wither when others are shedding theirs. That's why he keeps saying there's a lifting up when others are saying there's a casting down.
Another picture of that is portrayed by the work God did for Elijah. When Elijah decreed the famine, what did God do to him. God relocated him beside Brook Cherith for a definite intention that he'll be able to take living from the brook.
I Kings 17:3, 5 KJV
"3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook."
A siting by a water source, one with a continuous supply is for the purpose of your continuity in hard days. God had to tell Elijah, go and hide yourself by Brook Cherith. For what purpose if not to take life from there? You'll do well to begin to scout for another job now that the Lord is calling for it. Let the Lord collect from you the job that cannot sustain you and give you one that can do just that.
Be located by the streams of water, by a brook that you can draw from. This is how God takes care of His own.
PRAYER: Lord, I move and I obey. May it be unto me according to your Word.
