WHAT MAKES A MAN SPIRITUAL

WHAT MAKES A MAN SPIRITUAL

What makes a human "spiritual" as a Christian is their relationship with God through Jesus Christ, shaped and guided by the Holy Spirit. It's not just about beliefs or outward behaviors but about an inward transformation and ongoing connection with God. Let's see "men as men and not as trees" through the following order.

- New Life in Christ (Spiritual Birth)

At the heart of Christian spirituality is being "born again"—a spiritual rebirth.

John 3:5-6 – “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." A person becomes spiritual when they accept Jesus as Savior and Lord and receive the Holy Spirit, who brings new spiritual life.

- Indwelling of the Holy Spirit

After conversion, the Holy Spirit dwells within the believer, guiding, teaching and empowering them.

Romans 8:9 – “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.” The Spirit produces spiritual fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, etc. (Galatians 5:22-23)

- Desire for God and His Word

A spiritual Christian seeks God's presence, truth and guidance through prayer, Scripture and obedience.

Psalm 42:1 – “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”

A hunger for God's Word and a desire to grow in Christlikeness is evidence of spiritual life.

- Transformation of Character

Spiritual maturity is reflected in transformed character, shaped by the Spirit.

II Corinthians 3:18 – “We are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

- Living by Faith, Not Just Feelings or Rituals

A spiritual Christian lives by faith - trusting God in daily life, not just during religious events or emotional experiences.

Galatians 2:20 – “The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

- Communion with God and Others

Spirituality includes relationship—with God and the body of Christ (the Church).

Regular fellowship, confession, service and mutual encouragement are key aspects of spiritual life.

Mind you brethren, it’s not about being perfect. It’s rather about being alive spiritually and growing in a relationship with God through Christ.

Persist in your growth to becoming like Jesus!

LET YOUR SEA LEVEL RISE

LET YOUR SEA LEVEL RISE!

Let your sea level rise! I say, let your confidence swell up.

You might have been in doubt lately wondering if God is really good. God doesn't change in texture. He's the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb.13:8).

Just like I said in a recent quote, "stop confessing your state of dissatisfaction. For once, quieten yourself, introspect and you won't but be convicted into gratitude."

And that's actually true. Why should you not be shaken on God's love and care to wonder whether you still have His hearing at all or ask if you're still written in His book? You're engraved on His palm (Isaiah 49:16).

He does! His love is actually unchanging for you and there's one proof here that affirms He hasn't jettisoned you but will rather give you all things that you desire or shall ask for in His will.

What does the Bible say?

Romans 8:32, KJV

"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"

What that place wants you to see is this. Of all the assets in God's custody and store, the greatest of them is His Son. Jesus is worth more in value than the promotion, baby, spouse, job, travelling access, breakthrough etc you're asking or looking unto Him for. Yet, He gave you the chief of all His belongings. The Bible in KJV used a language I'd like us to stop to consider. It says, "He that spared not his own Son..."

What does it mean to "spare" a thing? It means to let off the hook, to let go, to let go of punishment, to forgive, to be appeased concerning something. But I also consulted the dictionary and it gave me the varieties below.

- To show mercy, to have mercy on.

- To desist; to stop; to refrain.

- To refrain from inflicting harm; to use mercy or forbearance.

- To preserve (someone) from danger or punishment; to forbear to punish, injure, or harm (someone); to show mercy towards.

- (Specifically) To refrain from killing (someone) or having (someone) killed.

- To keep.

- To be frugal; to not be profuse; to live frugally; to be parsimonious.

- To keep to oneself; to forbear to impart or give.

- To save or gain, as by frugality; to reserve, as from some occupation, use, or duty.

Even when Jesus prayed and pleaded in the garden of Gethsemane that, "let this cup pass over me" before He conclusively submitted to His Father's will and prayed, "not my will but your will"; yet God didn't answer His prayer (Matthew 26:39-44).

God was determined not to give Him up to release. No going back! The Almighty like one caught in the robe of bitterness had to temporarily shut His eyes therefore! Do you know how critical that was to God when He turned His ear away from Jesus and allowed Him to be brutalized and suffered for our sins and the just punishment that we should have taken.

For short, He took our punishment and bore our sins.

God didn't spare Him at all. God didn't protect Him. God didn't snatch Him from that herculean assignment, send Him into an inner bunker and lock the room against Him to keep Him from death or a falling to the ground as a corn of wheat (John 12:24). He rather yielded Him up. He gave Him up as a gift. That's what John 3:16 summarizes.

John 3:16 cries that what God did was out of love for us. If not, which father or parent is in his right senses as to yield up His one and only son for sacrifice - dying for others? John rather says, "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Even that love was not an ordinary love. It had to be described, qualified and quantified. We were told it was one type or kind of love. What adverb was put in front of that "loved?" It is the word "so."

We use the word "so" to show the extent or elasticity of something. When it says, "for God so loved the world..." That "so" is showing the degree of God's love. That means the kind of love that propelled God the Father to yield up God the Son is the "so great love" for us sinful mortals. Wretched us now deserving God's best - the yielding up of God's begotten (or only) son. The only one He has. Have you seen someone who's that loving, who has only one pen and yet loans it out when he also needs it to write? Even when he doesn't need it there and then to write, he doesn't give it out for the fear of not retrieving it. Selfishness will always lead to fear of dispossession for him! However, God went all out. He risked it all in good faith and assurance. Kasa! [I'm turned from inside out] over this degree or so great love!

Any human being is too wise for that but God didn't spare Jesus for our sake. Probably, you need to hear the full gist as Isaiah recounts it. I'll post it all. Just read it all. Mr. Isaiah, will you please take us on?

Isaiah 53:4-11

"4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."

"5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

"6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

"7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."

"8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken."

"9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

"10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

"11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

He was subjected to all that and thanks He also agreed and succumbed to it. So, it became a willing act for Him (John 10:15,17,18).

You can see the Father didn't spare or pamper Him at all. He rather gave Him up for our sins to be laid on Him. At His death, He therefore atoned for us before the Father. Hallelujah!

He didn't sin; we did but He was the One who paid. What sort of logic is this? Shouldn't the debtor atone for his debt? We should have but we cannot satisfy the justice/righteousness of God as sinners. We aren't without blame or blemish. So, Jesus, the Lamb of God who was slain from the foundations of the earth did it on our behalf and for us (John 1:29, I Peter 1:18-23). So, we just entered into that finished work by faith and we have our account of sin forgiven and wiped clean. There and then, old things will pass away and the new will fill our lives.

Another to consider is, "...but delivered him up for us all"

Jesus is one meat that goes round. He was given for the whole world. Romans 5:8 says, "while we're yet sinners Christ died for us." John 3:16 says, "for God so loved the world..." Jesus is a sacrifice for the whole world, people, races, languages, those born again presently or not yet born again and still in sin and under Satan's paternity.

He was not reserved for the rich, famous, Blacks or Whites or the elites. He's no special reserve for just somebody or a sect or race. He was given equally for the redemption of any who'll come and put their faith in Him and repent of their sins right away.

It's after looking at these two broken up parts that the verse now proceeds to say, "...how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"

It means, one, God will not withdraw the effectual sacrifice of Jesus from us. His works - sufferings, death, resurrection will continue to work for us and answer us. However, there's an additional blessing given with that cogent and invaluable gift of Jesus!

It's that God, the Father will give anything with or beside Jesus to us. Mention it. As long as it's God's will and need for you, you'll have it.

"...how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"

But, take cognizance of how it'll be given. "Those things" or "All those things" will be given FREELY to us. "Freely" is also an adverb modifying "give" [a verb]. It means -

- In a free manner.

- Without interference or restriction.

- Of one's own free will.

What does that mean?

It means God will give to you freely, liberally, graciously, gladly or generously without inhibition. Consider James 1:5 also.

Given freely means it'll flow to us like water runs from the tap and like a stream flows at a good velocity downstream.

It means it'll come and meet with eagerness, readiness and the willingness of God to make a release to us all.

But also, in enough abundance.

We can also infer that it'll come with no burden or repercussions! It means you don't have to do ritual or bury something on the ground to have wealth or fear consequences as far as you heed God's answer in the inspiration He'll give that'll well up in you which you must act on through hard work. That will become the key to your wealth.

It's after all these that we can now crown it with the seal of assurance by which we now know that if God gave much effort and so great love to give Jesus to us, He won't withdraw any good thing from our hands.

If He didn't spare Jesus (the chief of all His assets and belongings), what's a car to God then? That's ordinary scrap metal now. You'll use many in God's will. Apply the same to all the things you've been asking for whether great or small.

Also, this verse conclusively emphasises that God's giving of His Son was not just a sacrifice but also the foundation for providing "all things Christ bought for us".

The phrase “what Christ bought for us” is a way of expressing what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection, especially within Christian theology as it concerns us. The idea is that through His sacrificial death, Jesus “purchased” or secured certain spiritual blessings for believers. Here's a list of key things that Christ bought for us, based on Scripture and theology.

1.Forgiveness of Sins

Verses: Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14

Meaning: Christ’s death paid the price for sin, so believers are no longer under condemnation.

2.Reconciliation with God

Verses: Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18–19

Meaning: The barrier of sin is removed, allowing restored relationship between God and humanity.

3.Justification (Declared Righteous)

Verses: Romans 5:1, Galatians 2:16

Meaning: Through Christ, believers are legally declared righteous before God.

4.Redemption

Verses: Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 1:18–19

Meaning: Christ paid the price to set us free from sin, death, and the curse of the Law.

5.Peace with God

Verses: Romans 5:1, Colossians 1:20

Meaning: Hostility between humanity and God is ended.

6.Adoption as Children of God

Verses: Galatians 4:4–5, Ephesians 1:5

Meaning: Believers are not only forgiven but welcomed into God’s family.

7.Eternal Life

Verses: John 3:16, Romans 6:23

Meaning: Christ secured everlasting life for those who trust in Him.

8.The Holy Spirit

Verses: Galatians 3:13–14, Acts 2:33

Meaning: Jesus’ death made the way for the Spirit to dwell in believers.

9.Victory Over Satan and Sin

Verses: Colossians 2:15, Hebrews 2:14–15

Meaning: Christ triumphed over the powers of darkness and broke sin’s dominion.

10.A New Nature / New Creation

Verses: 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ezekiel 36:26–27

Meaning: Through Christ, believers are spiritually reborn.

11.Access to God

Verses: Hebrews 10:19–22, Ephesians 2:18

Meaning: Believers can now come boldly to God in prayer and worship.

12.A Glorious Inheritance

Verses: Ephesians 1:11–14, Romans 8:17

Meaning: We share in Christ’s inheritance - eternal blessings and glory.

13.Freedom from the Law’s Curse

Verses: Galatians 3:13

Meaning: Christ redeemed us from the Law’s penalty by becoming a curse for us.

14.Sanctification (Growing in Holiness)

Verses: 1 Corinthians 1:30, Hebrews 10:10

Meaning: Christ not only justifies but sets us apart to grow in holiness.

15.A Ransomed People for Himself

Verses: Titus 2:14, Revelation 5:9

Meaning: Christ purchased a people to belong to Him and reflect His glory.

Let your boast be in these. Be assured that if He gave Christ for you, will He not beside Christ freely give all things to you.

That includes your need on or for life's journey until you transit to glory.

Shout hallelujah as you're rest assured and relieved from doubt on God's love and provision that Satan had told you.

Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus!

TO BE BORN AGAIN

Begin to confess your sins right now. Mention them one by one as far as you remember and ask God for His forgiveness. Call Him into your heart as Lord and Savior. Believe you're forgiven and birthed to new life as a repentant sinner.

Hallelujah!

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR: GOD'S WILL OR SUCCESS?

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR: GOD'S WILL OR SUCCESS?

"If you can find and do the will of God for you, you don't need to look for success separately."

T.L. Osborne

Brethren, your welfare is in the will of God. Mind you, I didn't say, "your money..."

I used "welfare" because that involves all the care you need and money is just a speck of what you need as welfare.

But the problem is discovering God's will for oneself and then walking in it.

I found out that it's not always that straight submitting or following the will of God that you know or have discovered.

Why? There are many reasons for that.

You may be too scared!

You may be deceived by other people's wills and God's plans for them which may be gigantic. As such, you may be drawn into the wrong livelihood or ways of life because of jealousy, envy or competition.

Yours may not be elaborate enough in human description and parlance. So, you may knowingly substitute your will with the famous, wealthy and celebrated. And yours may be so gigantic that you refuse to believe it, advising God that He should have given it to better men; therefore separating yourself from it.

How many of you know that the elephant is not more important to God than the housefly? Do you know why?

God created them differently to discharge different purposes in their ecosystem and once none of them fails, they have fulfilled their purpose of creation without one being greater/lesser than the other in value or importance.

The elephant won't receive much praise because he's bigger, lives in the jungle and is mostly regarded by humans. Never!

"Have they served my will as I (God) appointed" is the ultimate question God will ask?

May I tell you that many will wake up to be rubbished by God on the Last Day because they didn't fulfill the very purpose for which they were created.

They rather served another. They probably did the work of their dad, elder brother or friend and did not take the route God had planned for them. They lived another man's life.

How angry and uncomfortable you'll be if all the items in your house turned against their creation and wanted to discharge another function they aren't made or suited for?

In essence, you'll have none or few to slightly meet your needs. You'll be stranded! That's the pain God is going through because people (Christians) are not where they should be, doing what they should do.

That's why we seem not to be effective though blasting speed!

Speed in the wrong direction (God scoffs)!

Doing the will of God is finding your purpose on earth, sticking to that and finding other revealed will that'll be connected to that.

I can assure you that if you're in the center of God's will, it's like having a master key at hand. You'll be able to open other doors. Other things like who to marry, where to settle, who to be-friend (not as amoral relationship please) or where to worship or who to take as a mentor will be opened and rightly met. How?

"In the mount of the Lord, it shall be seen" (Gen. 22:14).

There can't but be provision where God has designated. Ask the brother that turned Eastward and was fed by the ravens. Confirm from those sent to untie the ass. Interview certain disciples sent to prepare for the Lord's supper. They all met it so!

Will can attract will! Will is even interwoven. There's this interrelatedness of wills. If you get one right, the closer you are to getting others right. Will do order wills towards the man they're meant for. But first enter the aero MACRO will!

People of God, where are you? Have you discovered who you are? Have you answered why it is thus with you in particular and not another person? Have you enquired as to why your heart is stirred towards a path and why there's a convicting witness inside when you stumble on certain places, people, events or things? Why are you the only one carrying this pregnancy and talking in some manners beyond what you have learnt?

In God's will for you is the total package for your welfare. Expenses have been paid! Settlements have been done! Men will be convinced! People will respond! It'll seem the show is focused on you! In God's will, men have run ahead of you to prepare your way before you. Why? Your coming has been signalled and foretold. They have warnings and instructions about you! You wonder why doors fling open on such occasions. It's only in God's will that every mountain is levelled and the valley is exalted. The Midas touch is in the will.

When you're wrong and out there, you're left to blast your mountain and improvise by yourself. You'll search it and may not see it for long! You become like an orphan when God has said, "I won't leave you as orphans (comfortless) but come to you" (John 14:18). You literally sweat it out and suffer!

In God's will, your friends are not necessarily my friends. That's why I don't force relationships. We may once know each other on campus but wills may have crossed that once upon depth of closeness. New people might have replaced each of us even if we still hold and esteem ourselves as acquaintances. We may only have proceeded on with new people meant for this season of our lives who fit God's will for us. That I was fit for a season for you and you were for me doesn't mean I will always be fit for you. Only in marriage does it last until death do them apart. However, different men are stationed as provision for us where we must take them. They too are waiting to fulfill their will when they meet us and when we meet them also.

If you serve God in His will for you, that served will would bring you the specific friends God has prepared and ordained for you. Everything is in your will. The will is like a cooked soup or stew. Have it and possess all the coveted ingredients that can cook a soup. Pepper, tomato, seasoning, salt, protein and all of those for which thieves do break in to steal are there. It makes sense having the stew than running after only pepper because it's the obvious thing that makes the stew!

You cannot be friends with everyone. Aba! You cannot be cherished by all. That's because your will and assignment will touch and be life to some people than others. So, those specific recipients will esteem you more than wine.

Everything is meant to fall for you. Everything is already allotted, proportioned and allocated to answer you at a season in time if you'll walk in His will. This doesn't eliminate work or your participation you know. It'll be, you see, you act! You know, you move! Faith without works is dead!

As you walk in His will, a spouse can fall for you if that's the next thing. One door will just open to the next. One thing will just begat another. It'll just be from house to house.

But for those who'll miss God's will, their experience will be from "fry pan to fire."

Brethren, God has created for us the better life that we can bet on. If you'll enter the will zone, the will will spin out fortune and all the goodies you do desire in the manner that God has specifically measured that it gives to you.

It's like taking an office; you'll be privy to certain information and enjoy the benefits that accompany that office. The office brings them. Know what to initiate that can command all other things.

God's will that each Christian will answer will not make them great the same way. What matters is therefore not to desire the greatness or life of another but that which God wants for you for which you were born.

"Is life not more than food and the body than clothing? (Matt. 6:25)"

Do the will! That is when you can be said to have been a faithful and OBEDIENT servant at that.

There are many Christians who have missed the core of this matter but are trying to live the Christian life in obedience on other issues.

After boarding a ship to Tarshish, do you think you can impress or win God's heart by any other action on that trip? Even if Jonah converts the sailor, it doesn't eliminate or settle the debt of disobedience on ground.

In core disobedience, you cannot do any act that'll be counted for you as obedience. Your foundational disobedience can't but lead you in the wrong direction, make you meet the wrong people, live in the wrong place and yell through life.

Success is housed in the will of God. Riches is in there. Greatness is there for each and everyone of us in the measure God has decided to dealt us. Yours is not mine and mine is not yours.

Stop comparing yourself to another. Just be faithful to God. We won't all have the same things on earth equally and that's not because God is wicked but because our purpose will call for provision differently. And let me tell you, the greatly you're entrusted, the greater you're endangered.

Are you in the will of God for you or you're a tyre that's almost going astray from the wheel?

Align! Proceed into His will. Be afraid of nothing. The worst is that you won't be as great as your equals. Why be afraid? If we have food and clothing, with this, we shall be content (I Tim. 6:8). God owns you whether you're alive or dead, wealthy or poor? He has bought you with a price! You're His own. Be His bondservant! But you must know that greatness is not what really matters but obedience. Every greatness that's not in obedience to God's will is a violation of His will and therefore a disobedience. Many great people will be dismissed on the Last Day and many humble men who God called great but who were not great because they didn't align will suffer the same fate.

You must be like David. You must serve the will of God in the time you have to live in your own generation - in which God has seeded you.

Now is the time for you children of Abraham and Sarah. Are you asking what God will make you? God, bearing witness says in Isaiah 51:1-2, "1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. 2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him."

This doesn't mean being rich as Abraham or wealthier than he but rather it means, you'll be seen and helped to fulfill your own destiny - meet destined obligations.

God has not called us all to the same road but He has prepared a measure of greatness for you where He has called you even if it'll just be the manifestation of "but if we have food and clothing, with this we shall be content." Just ensure God wanted that for you!

The road differs! Yours may be overseas. Mine may be at home. Yours may be the road commonly traveled. Mine may not be. Yours may be service in the city and in bonds. Another's may be service in a village and as a free man.

Therefore, our sufferings will differ.

May you find yourself! May you find your road!

May you walk it in all its details and bits!

May you endure when it rains and smiles at the peeping of the sun!

The will of God is the master key! If you desire, call it the El Dorado of all good things or nickname it the philosopher 's stone.

All I know is, find yours, embrace it like the cross and carry it to Calvary until it does to you all that are intended by the Father!

That's when God will have another obedient and faithful servant in His hands again!

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

SPINELESS!

Daniel 6:10, KJV

"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."

How spineless you are will be notably seen in how often you come to God, commune with Him and notify Him of all things concerning you. That's a mark of how dependent you are on God. If you're dependent on someone, it means you can't do without them or can rarely do without them. It has been over-flogged that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with a living being who desires a relationship and also wants to speak back to us. He's not some dead idol. He has ears that hears and eyes that see. He is God Almighty. He is alive and active and if we'll carry Him along on a daily basis in our affairs, He'll sure guide us.

Check all religions in this world, none has a living founder. Except Jesus, they all died and remained dead and cemented.

Daniel comes to prayer and kneels before God three times a day. Daniel is a great politician and a very busy man if you don't know. Yet, despite how demands are on his time, the Bible says, "...he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks before God, as he did afore time."

Why the frequent kneeling? Why the frequent prayer? Daniel knows the role of God in his life. The higher you go, the stronger you should be in God. You're familiar with the dream of the king Daniel was able to search out in prayer after petitioning the king for some time. If Daniel had no smooth relationship with God, do you think his answer would come within that short time? That's why some of you can't speak to God and receive from Him as soon as possible. You have refused to walk with Him on a daily basis and take Him for your number one companion. However, when there's an emergency of who to marry, which choice should I make or of certain problems at your backyard, you like raising an alarm in prayer with expectations that God will hear. God can save you from difficulties or give you solutions but one thing you'll seriously lack is to know His mind or unravel secrets. Why? You're not trustworthy enough for them. Only those who walk with Him know His mind. That's why the Bible says in Deuteronomy 29:29 that, "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law."

How spineless and needy you are is revealed in how often you come to God in prayer, even if it's just often talks and short interactions as you go about your daily life. It doesn't necessarily mean staying long every time but carrying Him along on every matter and considering Him like you'll put your partner in consideration before acting is what we're talking about. Daniel does it at least three times a day. That's even under the Old Covenant. You could see that the belief of facing Jerusalem while praying was even prevalent though we know he's in Babylon at this time. How much more when God can be accessed any time by you? His network is strong anywhere. You can connect at any point in time.

Daniel knows that companionship with God is life. A dissociation from Him in the occultic circle of Babylon may be detrimental. Why won't he? He has found that, "in God he lives, moves and have his being" (Acts 17:28) not only for answers and responses but for pleasure. He won't be able to catch up with many life's demands as regarding his assignment as a wise man and a God seeker if he was never close to God.

When a man has stopped asking for the help of God or praying, it may mean pride and graduation from ever needing God has set in. Let me ask you, are you spineless and this reliant on God or you don't even have concerns, needs and heart to come to Him at all? Then, you miss and need a quick surge towards God. May it not be late for you to take your relationship with God seriously. May you discover that as you walk with Him, the many things you need answers to will just fall for you like a friend discloses to his confidant his secrets without the other asking.

PRAYER: Lord, let this heart of daily, often, ongoing communion, relationship, transaction and companionship be within me. Help me to practice.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

YOU CAN'T PATCH IT!

John 3:6, NLT

"Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life."

People, you can't patch it!

That which is of the flesh is flesh and that which is of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:6, KJV

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

You cannot change their destiny - which created them with certain expectations and characteristics.

The flesh (that which is born of a woman has a mind) and it only acts in accordance to that mind. The Spirit likewise follows in the footsteps of what it was recreated and created to take after, God's Spirit. The Spirit will act out being spiritual while the flesh will act out being carnal.

Don't blame the flesh for acting carnally. It couldn't have helped it if it doesn't change paternity or destiny. Why? There's an encoding in it that makes it act carnally. Its DNA is fleshy and what it contains and seeks are the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life (I John 2:16). Those are the things it exhibits. It has to live up to that because it was created and imbued to live up to just that. It just couldn't help living above that cap. It therefore functions that way because that which is human has to be humanly!

When the Bible says, in Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually", it shouldn't come to us as much surprise that humanity is living up to his nature. It's all because that which is flesh is flesh. A dog must bark and a fish must swim! That which is flesh is flesh! Look, you cannot patch it! Unless there's a switching of sides and a becoming born again, that which is born of the flesh cannot become born of the Spirit and act in newness of life? (II Cor. 5:17). Where will he get it from? Will he steal it or what?

That's why Jesus plainly told Nicodemus, "look here boy, except you're born of water and the Spirit, you cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Period!" In plain words, Jesus told him the two sides that be and called him to take a new side (make a choice) and become born again - be of the Spirit.

Being born of the Spirit means you'll receive enablement to act and live after the desires or breathings of God. Where you once walked in the works of the flesh, you'll walk in the fruits of the Spirit even as you renew your mind and grow (Gal.5:19-23). But first of all, you're made God's child and impacted with His life. This happens immediately.

John 1:12-13, KJV

"12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

It couldn't have been possible unless you cross sides and change paternity and have the God life impacted into you. Until Zoe rests in your core, you're deprived of the divine life and you'll observe no matter how you try, you can't just live above sin and Satan. But with the divine life, you ascend and have the higher life. You become self taught (I John 2:20). You surpass the plants in the plant kingdom, animals in the animal kingdom and men in the human kingdom. You become god! You become supernatural! You have the higher life!

Where you're once hindered, you're therefore loosened to do greatly. Why? There's a new law working in you. It's the law of life and not death.

You can now touch higher things, receive higher things (even the Holy Ghost) and accomplish the greater works Jesus talked about (John 14:12). But without being born of the Spirit, the farther one could go is to achieve all the things the arms of flesh could only achieve and exhibit the traits of the mere man. The God life takes us further above human frailties. We forgive misdeeds, love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matt.5:44). The human life has no capacity to do all those. It's given to selfishness and revenge. But the divine life does the hard, impossible and uncommon. Why? It brings a capacity and enablement with it.

Are you there having patched your way into the kingdom? Not really born again but a church attendee. Listen, you can't patch it up. God and Satan know you and you too knows. Choose a side now! That sinner pretending to be a saint, begin to confess your sins one after the other now. Call Jesus into your heart and salvation will be yours.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for the distinct word of salvation I've heard. It has mixed with faith and I have responded. I'm born again now with the God (highest) life inside of me.

THE GATEKEEPER!

THE GATEKEEPER!

I want to believe God has set the husband and father in the home as the foremost gatekeeper. That'll be in accordance with the Bible and God's plan to regulate his wife and children and help put in perspectives things that they need answers to as their first go person ( Eph.5:23, I Tim. 2:12).

A gatekeeper has invested authority from God to allow or disallow certain things. He has the power of permission. He can grant or withdraw it over matters as God would desire He does. May God help him to use this well.

Sometime recently, my younger sibling who lives with me dressed to check out. As I gazed in her direction to respond to her, "goodbye sir", I observed her top was somehow skimpy. I didn't banter with her but only released an executive order. "Check in and change that. Didn't you see that it is skimpy and would jump up further if you need to bend down?"

She changed into a better top after raising her opinion which reasoning subdued.

How does this relate to being a gatekeeper? It does very well. Thank God I was there. That could have gone out just like that but my presence arrested it and sent it back for realignment. I never tallied with it or consented to her dressing like that though the top wasn't obviously skimpy.

However, skimpy is skimpy! For Satan to enter, he doesn't need too wide a crack but the one you'll call harmless and insufficient for him to act on.

If you're a husband and father or even a mother, it's your responsibility to ensure things are very proper with your family. Speaking of the virtuous woman, the Bible says, "she looks well to the ways of her family."

Proverbs 31:27, KJV

"She looketh well to the ways of her household..."

NLT says, "She carefully watches everything in her household..."

If you like, call her the eagle woman! She sees even from afar. Even when it hasn't reached or neared her, she could discern and pick it out. It is not this type of mother that her son would bring home a gun from where God knows and eventually use it to blow his own head up under her roof. God forbid! She's a watcher and always on her tower.

You must be a careful observer and carer of your family in like manner. You must look well to the ways or operations of your family. You must know how your family members fare both when under your roof in the same house or outside and far away. You must keep looking unto the ways of your household. Nothing should be hidden from you. Rather, you must know who's who and ensure nothing bypasses you unarrested or unjudged. You must have an active oversight over your family.

This same responsibility extends to your wife. It's your responsibility to caution and call to appropriation your wife when an odd fashion or ways of life begins to appeal to her. I found out that most females who dress to kill and to reveal do so because it's also permitted by certain macho authorities in their lives. It could be father, husband or brother (as is my case).

Once something is destroyed or perverted in you, if your wife dresses up and the cleavage is open or the dress gums too much to her body, you wouldn't see that something is wrong. As such, you can't call for a disbanding and a realignment.

That's why the man must not be sick as the head and the final authority in the home. He must be sound from head to toe to mark perversion and subtle destruction that is ready to be smuggled into his family for what they are. He shouldn't tolerate them but rather throw them out.

But if the light that's in you is darkness, then I wonder o!

Remember that what you have a weakness for is what you'll eventually allow. Don't let weakness lead to tolerance.

Many times when we see such women or ladies outside, we may solely blame them not knowing that it isn't all their handiwork. What you must know is that the gatekeeper who allows or consents to their dressing that way is no different from them. And as far as I know, ladies often want to dress to impress or draw affirmation, not only to look good.

As a man who gives affirmation to my wife and somebody like my younger sister and in no years my daughter, it's my responsibility to affirm what is moral so they'll do more of that and denounce the amoral so that they'll give that up.

Where there'll be a real problem is if I'm saying A and one colleague at work is saying B or affirming her in the wrong direction. If the woman involved isn't wise to know that the husband for instance is the one who has her best in mind, she might criticize the husband and say a thing like, "why is yours different? Everybody always commends my dressing except you." Why won't they commend you since you offer them something to latch and feast their eyes on? They're grateful there's someone around feeding their lustful desires. Only God knows how many times such guys would have naked and slept with such ladies in their minds. If opportunity situates itself for their good, they won't hesitate to carry out the physical act on her - even if it'll be rape that might land them in jail.

Why would that happen?

The Bible says:

James 1:14-15, KJV

"14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

What you've been looking at and thinking about for long is something you can act out when opportune. Your having thought about it for long and savoured it is a preparatory ground to be tempted into the real act.

For this reason, resist the temptation of thinking on the canal and the debased. Also, let females take heed to what and how they dress. You won't be blameless if you cause any to fall or sin (even when it's just mind sex). Don't dress to distract attention to yourself. Dress to cover your nakedness - what was shameful to behold by the public that even Adam and Eve had to cut fig leaves to cover upon their discovery of their own nakedness (Gen.3:7).

So, if you're an authority figure somewhere, allowing what should be arrested or reprimanded at the gate means you're an accomplice who will receive just punishment for the same. You won't go blameless. You're no different in person to the actor. Regarding you as someone invested with the office of the overseer who should know better and guide in the right path (as a teacher), you'll be judged with a stricter measure (James 3:1). In addition, every lady should know God's permitted will to them on how they should dress though there are general instructions in the Bible. Assignments can further give each of us certain dressings though must not be amoral.

I think a story illustrates this in the Bible. Look at Rebekah who laid out plans of supplanting Esau for Jacob. Don't you think if Jacob were to be judged, she won't escape?

Genesis 27:11-14, KJV

"11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man: 12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing. 13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them. 14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved."

In this story, a mother facilitated the evil that her son did. We are very familiar with how Jacob supplanted Esau and received his blessings instead though in line with a prediction of Jacob being greater than Esau (Gen.25:23). It's also an affirmation of the previous act of nonchalance that Esau cultivated towards what is sacred and important to God and men (Gen.25:32-34). For his nonchalance, he lost the blessing to he who could custody it better. Better things are kept and retained by the faithful. In like manner, you must cherish the anointing. Don't be like Esau who lacks estimation for the holy. Never be a despiser or a profane!

Hebrews 12:16-17, KJV

"16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears."

While there are many justifications for this yet we can't deny that Jacob is a supplanter and was aided in his crime by the mother. As a matter of fact, it was the mother who rolled out this plan and urged Jacob on when he shivered. When Jacob developed cold feet and thought of consequences, Rebecca gave him confidence saying "may the curse be upon me."

This is a typology of Christ taking our place, bearing our grief, carrying our shame and enduring the burden of our sins (Isa. 53:3-11).

So, if we were to hold Jacob responsible for this heinous act, Rebekah wouldn't have been blameless as well. "Both are thieves who steal and who hide it" says a Yoruba proverb. None shall be spared according to any good justice system.

Summarily, Rebecca facilitated an evil though one that served the overall will of God.

So, as gatekeepers, we cannot turn a blind sight to what's happening in our homes, classrooms, offices, churches when we have the staff of office to rule or checkmate certain individuals.

Gatekeepers are called to sieve and prevent the unauthorized from entering. Are you really discharging this job as one?

ONE OF MANY REASONS WHY COUPLES SHOULD ATTEND CHRISTIAN RETREATS

ONE OF MANY REASONS WHY COUPLES SHOULD ATTEND CHRISTIAN RETREATS

Bro. Gbile Akanni & Sis Sade Akanni will be at Ikofa at this Couple's Retreat.

Try to winter there but you have to come with your spouse. Plan and take time off from work.

If you have a baby, you can come with him or her. Not more than that small baby.

Ensure you travel often for Christian retreats and other programmes with your spouse even if you're not dropping hints or pictures that you've done so.

Travelling for Christian programmes are not career trips you took that you're posting on LinkedIn or Facebook.

What should get better is your character - fruits of the Spirit while you're armed with more power to live the Christian life daily and victoriously always.

If you know the number of Christians whose backs are on the floor, you'll take heed. They've been cooled down and at best secularized. We see that through what they post on their statuses. We could see the decay, even if it's not pronounced. Before time, you'll see them more clearly in their rotten forms.

Learn to live quietly except where necessary for the sake of testimony to the brethren.

Why should you travel for such with your spouse?

If there's something you've been trusting to convince them over but they think you're prejudiced, you can trust God to say it again from the mouth of a neutral person.

This way, you can have peace and move forward especially when there's mistrust, bias or a shirking away from their responsibilities as a wife or husband.

Take heed!

@ M'Wings.
