BEGIN TO AMEND!

John 4:51-52, KJV

"51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.  

52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."

What does it mean to amend as used in the context we're reading about today? Begin to picture a body of water that has over flooded its bank going back to its normal containment. That will be an amending to what it was previously. We all know that when water overflows its boundary, it could lead to disaster. So, to prevent that from happening, there may be need to recall it to stay within bound. 

Anything that goes out of bound will somewhere lead to destruction. It's so that accident or death doesn't happen that we enforce amendment. 

In today's reading, a noble man came to meet Jesus, pleading Him so that He would come and heal his child who was at the point of death (John 4:47). The nobleman said unto Jesus, "Sir, come down before my child dies" (v.49). 

This boy has departed from the perfect condition of health and is beginning to journey towards the extreme. As a matter of fact, he has gotten somewhere noted for death to happen. He needs quick recovery. It's like a truck that's stuck in the mud. It needs recovery. Unless it's recovered, it cannot leave its present state and be set on its journey or course. 

What are the things that needs recovery in your life? Do you need to be recovered from sickness, disease, debt, accusation, libel, slander or what? You can be returned to the perfect state that you once knew. 

When Naaman bathed in River Jordan, his flesh was recovered and it was said to look like that of a new born baby. 

II Kings 5:14, KJV

"Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean."

I pray for you, be taken back to perfection. Be returned to the blessedness of the beginning. Let SS amend to a better genotype. Let your incurable disease disappear - not to be seen again. 

Look, let's further probe the word, "amend." When the servants of this nobleman told him with surprise and joy that his son lives, what's his question to them? The Bible says, he enquires of them the hour when he began to amend. "Amend" as a word there talks of restoration bit by bit. Don't forget that Jesus told him to go his way when he declared his son has been healed. He still had to journey home before he could confirm that. However, at that same hour, the amendment happens. It happened in details and manifested as a whole. 

You too are amending. Are you loose, immoral and hopeless of a change? You are amending. Have you been lost in sin and sinful living? You are amending. You are taking dressing today by the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. I wouldn't know what needs amendment in your life but I dare to speak like my master Jesus, "go thy way, that thing now amends."

I'm picking something in the spirit. Like I'm seeing a parent who has been praying for the return of his/her child. May there be an amending. Wherever he/she is, may they know the way back home - both in repentance and new life. 

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Thank you Lord for your amending power. Thank you for healing, restoration and recovery; even for the saving of sinners.
