FEET AT THE DOOR - The Sound I Hear Series 001

II Kings 6:32, KJV

"But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?"

I pray that you will not be alone. Rather, the Lord will be with you. His word will abide with you. I pray you will not be without sound or voice. It profits nobody to have that experience. 

I Kings 18:26, KJV

"And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made."

You see, that verse says, "but there was no voice, nor any that answered..."

I pray for you once more that when you call, you will be answered. You will not be blank. You will always have information at hand. You will constantly receive notifications and notices. Even from far away, you'll have known what is about to happen. That's what today's teaching is all about. 

Our verse of the day is beginning to tell us about the aftermath of the siege of Samaria, how it resulted into famine and what Ahab as king had decided to do. According to the word of the servant he sent, that famine (evil) is from the Lord. What should I wait for the Lord anymore? (II Kings 6:33). As a matter of fact, he has determined to unleash his anger against God's representative - the Prophet Elisha. 

However, before the errand boy nears Elisha's house, Elisha receives notification not only of his coming but also of their plan. Their plan is to take his head which is why Elisha said, "...see you how this son of a murderer has sent to take away mine head..."

Seeing this and having tangible information at hand, he could resist by taking necessary actions. The first is to instruct to have the door shut against the coming messenger. Don't allow him in. Shut him outside. Then Elisha picks another information, "is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?"

Imagine that! An ordinary and simple person could have thought it was only the sent servant coming his way but Elisha had the complete package with him. He had complete information on what was to transpire and so he could prepare adequately. Elisha could hear feet at the door. It hasn't approached but he could see how near and close it was. It hasn't happened or gotten to his doorstep but before it does, he declares it. 

This is the kind of person God wants you to be - seeing/hearing the sound of feet coming your way. From today, nothing takes you by surprise. Whatsoever snare that's prepared for you shall be broken. The Bible says, "in vain the net or snare is spread before a bird" (Prov. 1:17). 

That's a bird that has information before hand. That's what God is making you into. You're being equipped with information for your preparation and consequently your saving. So shall it be. Nothing catches you unawares. You know because you're a child of light. 

PRAYER: Nothing catches you unawares because you're a child of dawn.
