MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

RE-UNDERSTANDING DESTINY

Matthew 24:45, KJV

"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?”

Many times, our definition of destiny or fulfilling it has to do with accomplishing something on a larger platform or doing something on a larger scale. We tend to call accomplishment the fulfillment of destiny all the time but what if there's more to it.

Destiny is not only something you're called to do or that you have done, it's also who you become in attempting to get that thing done. This is why formation is necessary to fulfilling destiny. If you're not a vessel needed to get a particular job done, you may be unworthy or unfit for it. That's why character development is a very much part of destiny. God makes us something to fulfill something and He is very much interested in walking us through that process before we finally get to accomplish the end result.

It is time we see destiny in a new light - faithfulness. Let me ask you, are you faithful where God has placed you? What has been committed into your hands? Are you responsible for anything? How are you doing it? Are you a faithful and wise servant whose Lord will meet meting out provision to those He has appointed in their due season.

Many times, we cry and howl to be like somebody - a national star or somebody on a global stage. We wanted to have their influence. We wanted to have their following and be famous as they are. We wanted to be televised and read in all magazines possible. Kindly know that it's not everyone who makes the mark who'll enter Forbes book of the richest persons or the record book of men. Men may not pay attention to what you constantly do because it's insignificant or because of where you're placed or the opportunities you're allowed. However, not God.

All He requires is a faithful and wise servant who'll always get the job in and out season wherever he is placed. Whether there are camera clicks or a press conference waiting for him or not, what matters in destiny is discharging the soul and purpose of one's call. Your audience may be few but do you show consistency to them?

God will not judge you over what He doesn't give you. He calls us to accountability according to the talents and opportunities He has given to us. It is always to whom much is given, much is expected. So, you have no reason to be scared of a higher demand other than the One the Lord has given to you and now requests of you - faithfulness.

You can give the measure God has given into your hands without withholding and still give more than them all (Mark 12:41-44). That's real faithfulness. Discharge what you have been given. Give no less.

PRAYER: O Lord, whether on a larger or smaller scale/stage, may faithfulness be my rudder.
