MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
THE JOURNEY THAT MEETS DESTINY
Acts 9:3, KJV
"And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven."
There's that one journey that leads to an encounter. Ecclesiastes 9:12 talks of fishes caught in an evil net and birds snared in a trap. The journey they took at the time they did made it possible for them to have that (evil) encounter.
In our own case, I'm seeing there are some of you that God will make your journey meet with destiny. Paul's journey to Damascus is the road to his apostleship. He has been arresting and hauling people into prisons and he has gotten a letter to have that repeated to those of the way in Damascus before the Lord Jesus encounters him for his separation.
What he doesn't know however is that the cry that has been going on over him will be answered that day. What he doesn't know is that a set trap will sprung on that day. He will be caught and brought out of the mire of being a persecutor, sinner and rebellious young man to the light of Christ.
Have you heard of great musicians who never paid attention to their gifts until they encountered their musical instrument? The one the world eventually knows them with on the world stage. Some had something triggered in them when they met the philosophy or idea their compositions should be based on. It usually would be a defining moment for them as they'll turn themselves about from what they've known to the new they're now being called to.
Nobody would have known any Apostle Paul if he was not caught this day on the road to Damascus. God does not just save us to put us on the shelf. Any man or woman God saves is a vessel in His hands that He has plans and intentions for. As spoken concerning Paul, the Lord said.
Acts 9:15-16, KJV
"15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake."
However, it all begins by stepping on the road to Damascus. You have heard of people who died or got trapped. That wouldn't have happened that day if they had gone in another direction or stayed back at home. Their path rather crossed with the destroyer's. Time can happen to you but for your good. You can be sent on an errand that in the foreknowledge of God will be setting you up for something greater. Are you planning to relocate abroad? That may be your own plan but God may have His to accomplish. Joseph speaking to his brothers said, "you meant it for evil but God meant it for good to bring about the salvation of many people" (Gen. 50:20). At times, we may take steps out of the will of God but God can still walk through them to accomplish His designated purposes. And that's what's happening this morning. Those of you who have missed God somewhere, God is appearing for your salvation and bearing you up. He'll connect the dots and help you make things begin to make sense. I pray for you, may you go on that journey that'll lead to a whole table being set before you. A journey of new encounters, revelations, relationships and surprises.
PRAYER: Lord, may I set on the journey leading to a new chapter of my life.
