THE SPONSORING OF MEN AND GOD'S ORDAINMENT
I Samuel 16:8, KJV
"Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this."
After the failed attempt of Samuel in guessing Eliab right as the king, the matter of who the king is or could be becomes a kind of competition. Samuel is the anointed of the Lord whom the Lord has promised to show the king to. Only he will recognize who the king is at his appearance. Since God assures that He has prepared for Himself a king amidst Jesse's sons, the parade therefore begins after Eliab has been disqualified.
The Bible says, "then Jesse called Abinadab and made him to pass before Samuel." You will think God will find His choice in Abinadab but the ruling against him is, "neither hath the Lord chosen this."
Then Jesse makes another attempt. The Bible says, "he made Shammah to pass by." It is not long when the same voice says, "neither hath the Lord chosen this." The Bible says this act continues until seven sons of Jesse had passed before Samuel. Unfortunately, the response all the time is, "the Lord has not chosen these" (I Samuel 16:10).
I pray for you as a parent that you will have a seed to save the day for you. May there be found amidst your kids at least a king. May presentation not be done and inspection carried out without finding a vessel that the Lord can use in your family.
Seven sons were made to pass before Samuel who could have been confirmed but none of them was the chosen person. May you become the chosen person. May you have the right attitude, heart, training and motivation of the man God is looking for. I know you've heard or read African stories where a king or a prince needed a wife and all the town's maidens of marriageable age are presented to him at a dancing or show off competition to make a choice from?
God also runs this type of scanning on people without necessarily sending them an invite. That's the kind of contest that happened this particular day in the house of Jesse. Seven sons were presented, passed before Samuel but none of them were chosen. Despite the set-up and plan to make them visible to Samuel by making them pass individually before Him in style, yet none of them was rubber stamped for kingship. However, something contrary happened later. The Bible has this to say.
I Samuel 16:12, KJV
"And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he."
May this be you! May you be that man that the Lord will leap on as soon as He sets His eyes on you. May you receive such endorsement to be anointed and chosen for a plan and purpose. David looked inexperienced but God had some vital things to say about him. Earlier, God says, "I have provided for myself a king among his (Jesse's sons)."
So, he's a provision and an answer to a need or desire in God's heart. A man after God's heart about whom this testimony is written.
Psalms 78:70-72, KJV
"70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71 From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands."
I pray for you that God will be attracted to you. There are those people who will want to become king without having been chosen or ordained by the Lord. It's such people that are usually made to pass with the preconception of catching the attention of the king maker. David knows nothing, suspects nothing and had no time for preparation or walk practice yet he was chosen. That's you. When there's no sponsor, God will still fetch you and ensure you're sighted by the king maker. Today, you're the one God is sending to fetch. Men will see you and choose you above others. They'll leap on you to do you good and anoint you for favour amidst many.
PRAYER: Lord, I become the right man you're looking for - a shepherd of sheep before the shepherd of Israel.
Ezra 10:1-44, I Cor. 6:1-20, Psalm 31:9-18, Prov.21:3
