WHEN STARVED OF DAILY BREAD - The Bread For Today Series 006

I Kings 18:28, KJV

"28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them."

Ministers, I pray for you once more, you will not be starved of daily bread. Daily bread can be answer at the peak of need. Have you gotten to a place in life where except God steps in, you're done for. Pastor Sunday Adelaja once got there when he faced deportation because of the envy of native Ukrainian and Orthodox churches around him. He could only turn to God. In one of his messages I heard, they prayed until that action was overruled and reversed by the government. I pray for you, you will not be starved of answers. When it's desperate and you need God to involve or commit Himself, it will not be too late for you.

Unfortunately for the prophets of Baal, that's their fate. Elijah challenged them to a fire duel. Each side will prepare his sacrifice but his God/god will be left to put fire on it as a seal of answer. It is on this wise the prophets of Baal had the greatest embarrassment of their lives. When they needed Baal to respond, suddenly he was nowhere to be found. What could have caused that when Baal is believed to be an expert at producing fire? Isn't he the god of thunder, lightning and storm again? It could only have been God. God silenced Baal and said there was no show for him that day. 

It got to its peak when they were mocked by Elijah because they had no answer or response from Baal. The Bible says, they had to go the extra mile of cutting themselves as a way of showing piety and attracting the sympathy of Baal. Despite that, all was to no avail. 

How I pray for you that God will answer you when you're confronted with this kind of situation as a minister or Christian. That's how Yahweh won the trophy for that day because He answered by fire. But more importantly, the prophets of Baal were denied their daily bread at a critical juncture. When they needed the allocation that could have saved the day for them, it never came. They needed Baal's intervention, waited for it all day but it never manifested.

It would have been better if they were embarrassed indoors. That would have been managed, but to have been embarrassed before a nation when something was at stake, that was too critical. As you journey, you'll in real life meet people and situations that'll prove whether your God can give immediate answers or not. At that time, you need the daily bread of answers - of the Lord stepping in. That's what Psalms 91:12 says - "they shall bear thee up on their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." If there's no bearing up by the Lord, embarrassment is imminent. However, you shall be saved from such. You'll not experience like the prophets of Baal who waited for their bread for that day to be administered to them but never came. 

I Kings 18:26, KJV

"And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made."

You, before you call, you'll have answers. 

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the daily bread of answers when they're honestly needed. When I call, You answer me.
