MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
A THIRST AFTER THE LIVING GOD - Thirsty In A Dry Land Series 006
Psalms 42:2, KJV
"My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"
God is good! Let your response be, "all the time." God wants us to be close to Him and He does fine work for that purpose. Have you had an experience where one sermon (at times, it could be a song or a film) you had earlier watched is being replayed in your mind? Vividly and graphically, it may just be a part of the entire content that you remember or are being urged to listen to again.
God doesn't just call things back to us. Don't forget the Bible says, "but the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you" (John 14:26, KJV)
You may want to misbehave but be curtailed by a scripture that comes to your mind, fitting the situation at hand. That's the Holy Spirit at work. Meanwhile, God may create a thirst in your heart that will make you long for a sermon, book or whatever you had once related with also. It is usually because God may want to relate with you through that material again. It has happened to me several times. Thank God I have the habit of downloading and keeping my sermons. I've had to open my laptop or go back to my storage to recover a particular teaching because I was longing to hear it again. Before its recovery, it would have played in my mind for a while. However, I would long to see it, hear it and have a proper taste of it as it is recorded. Mind you, I don't have to be the preacher of the sermon or writer of the book.
Until I went back to recover them, I was usually restless or filled with thirst. It's one of the experiences through which God showed me new things from what I had earlier listened to or read. New revelations, instructions and anointing for ministry through impartation also do come through that channel. It could even be a refreshing or revival power. You'll just feel renewed.
So, when the Psalmist says, "when shall I come and appear before God", it's not different from being thirsty and desirous of having a particular desire fulfilled. The desire to read an excerpt or chapter in a book you had read earlier but which you're suddenly reminded of and now longs for.
This thing reached its climax when my laptop's hard disk crashed in 2020. It crashed out of much sermons and spiritual contents I left there which often set me on fire. With the crash came an agony to recover all that was lost. Within a year, I recovered my sermons because I went back to downloading them. Meanwhile, I couldn't trace to recover all my lost C & S Ayo ni o oldies. They are one of my greatest inspirations. Their band's songs always stir my anointing and the prophetic on me. One of these is a single titled, "Igba Otun 2." I couldn't recover it until this year. I even made public announcements on my status, ministry group and checked in with several people at different occasions. Nobody knew the song to recover it for me for those five years. At times, I would record the part I know, send a voice note to people but all was still in vain. For a period of five years, I would long to hear that particular track but to no avail. The memory of how some of the lyrics went had faded and I couldn't chorus it appropriately. When I found it this year; for weeks, it was the only thing I was rejoicing in until God's intent was done and His will settled in me through it.
May God meet your longings! Wherever we have asked, "when shall I see your face, may God meet us that we may be satisfied!
PRAYER: I am not forlorn. The Lord is attending to me. What is lost is being recovered. The desire of the righteous shall be fulfilled.
