MINISTERS' DIALECT: Only For Gospel Ministers, Their Spouses & Those Desiring The Office Of A Bishop

ASSIGNMENT AND YOUR KEEPING FIT

I thank God people read and listen to me all over the world when I teach.

Glory be to God!

However, let's say no one does when I teach, should I be disappointed and see no reason to persist in the good I was given to do?

No, though I may want to be disappointed or feel not appreciated but that ought not to be allowed to penetrate my soul or take my assignment away from my hand.

Listen to me brethren! This concerns those of you who are ministers especially and have been allocated certain assignments from the Lord which you must not be caught not doing.

Whether people are following consciously or not; whether you know people are taking heed by what you say or not, don't be deterred.

It's not especially for them but for your sake. Why you must not be tired giving up your assignment due to people's unwillingness or non-participation is more for you than it is for them.

Why?

I know you pine that I tell you why.

Your assignment exercises you. Your assignment keeps you trim. It keeps you active by making you to work on your self first of all. It makes you stay in sync with the Lord. It makes you want to improve yourself. It makes you thirst for more of God. It makes you want to be refined and better at it. It even makes you pray, study and labour before the Lord than just staying as a believer without any assignment.

See yourself as a tool. If you have no work doing, you'll become blunt. Humans have that tendency of becoming sloppy when there's no challenge challenging them. That's why fighters in competitive sports train regularly.

Constant practice is essential because execution, timing and matchups deteriorate without regular training. Some of the best-known titles where it's suicide not to be at war every time with yourself are Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, The King of Fighters XV, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Mortal Kombat 1, BlazBlue, Central Fiction etc. They demand consistent practice for combos, spacing, anti-airs, reactions, punishment, team synergy, assists etc.

Have you seen this same truth on display in mere sports or exercises that Paul said only profits little when compared to godly training (I Tim. 4:8)? Look at me, one of the worst things that can happen to you in life is to be idle - having nothing to do or focus on. God knew this at the beginning of time. So, He gave Adam work. Have you asked yourself why Adam had to work since all he needed was in the garden? Have you asked yourself why billionaires and a Trillionaire like Musk still work despite having the goods already? It's not necessarily to make more money which they eventually make but to realize themselves and be fit where they are placed.

Observe those without assignments - the takers and grabbers only. They'll just sit there like the four lame men at the gate of Samaria waiting for a miracle - what God would do. Until they come to the realization of working - risking it all to launch into the camp of the Syrians, they'll only remain still, inactive, stationary and without progress or profit in life. But that story soon changed when they went to work after they charged themselves with, "why sit we here till we die?" (II Kings 7:3-4).

You'd better think straight as well.

If you have no assignment or a place (even a demanding local church or ministry) where you're exerting and exercising yourself or your gifting, you'll soon become careless, dull and sloppy. You'll be like the people described below. They are the most unfortunate people on earth.

Judges 5:6-8 (The MSG)

"In the time of Shamgar son of Anath, and in the time of Jael, public roads were abandoned, travelers went by backroads.

Warriors became fat and sloppy, no fight left in them. Then you, Deborah, rose up; you got up, a mother in Israel.

God chose new leaders, who then fought at the gates. And not a shield or spear to be seen among the forty companies of Israel."

Why are these warriors fat and slow? They had no job doing that could have trained them for battle. So, they became careless - only discharging civilians' duties and living as one. May you shake off lethargy and become fit and strong.

In some churches and ministries, since their warriors are asleep and idle, they've become ineffective for spirit things. They may still be sharp in their careers - Accounting or Medicine but they hear not the Spirit's voice again. The Bible is closed to them. The heaven is as brass upon them. They are in drought. Now, the devil has possessed their gates instead of them extending their borders there. The Lord found them not worthy. He descended on Jesus in the form of a dove but these ones are no good landing spaces for the Lord. They cannot house God any longer.  Their life and lifestyle repel Him!

Did you see the gist now? For such people, that's why a lot of things are dormant in their lives. They'll never know or taste how far they could go.

Paul told Timothy to stir up the gifts he had received through the laying on of his hands and of the presbytery.

"Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands" (II Timothy 1:6, KJV).

"Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery" (I Timothy 4:14, KJV).

Let me ask you, how can you stir your gifts if you're a Timothy with a deposit of something inside you? It's simply by working and being found on one assignment or the other. That's what will shape you and bring out the capabilities in you. It's through what you do or attempt to do that you'll discover your gifting or area of grace. No attempt means no discovery. Not trying means no unravelling. And until you discover, you can't leverage that part of you - be it healing, teaching, communicating, singing, mentoring, working of miracles or exhorting side etc.

Such people, they'll never live up to using their installed capacity let alone wearing out what God has kept in them that they could only discover through exercising and active participation. Imagine David's mighty men who became valiant warriors. They were one time nobodies, without a reputation for battle. It isn't that some of them don't have some petty skills or inner capabilities. However, it was not trained, exercised or consistently put to work until it could reach perfection or mastery level where they don't miss when they slingshot. It's to this end we keep assignments and then find fitting trainers, coaches or mentors who could train us for them through the types of activities that can improve and make us the best on those tasks.

When I met the very anointed Venerable Johnson Oyebode of Ijebu Anglican Diocese, he gave me work to do. He saw my capabilities and what I could become. He recommended books and placed me on special diets of what to focus on per time. I received impartations from him but I also put it to work.

You can't deny needing a one on one moment with a mentor. Else, your manifestation will be slowed down. If it's not, you won't have full bloom or fullblown manifestation. Rather, your land may bring forth less than a hundred fold.

This is why you're different. This is why you're fortunate. This is why keeping at your assignment in and out seasons like Paul told Timothy to do is a great luck for you. That's why he even told him to even attempt doing the work of an evangelist. Look, if you don't give God the platform to do miracles, He won't do it. I author a daily devotional and other diversities of teachings so that there'll be a handle for people to contact and experience God. I teach, exhort, prophesy and heal through those things I write or say. When someone relates with those materials of my own assignment, they'll be touching God through them. That's why you also must do the work(s) you're called to.

II Timothy 4:5, KJV

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."

Assignment keeps you trim and warrior like. You won't be obese or fat in disobedience or unnecessary comfort.

This is why whether people are watching, listening, following or not, keep at it.

An assignment that you keep doing will help you to win the approval of God constantly also. As you do, heavy anointing and new manifestations of your anointing are also discovered. Why? He who is faithful in little will be entrusted with much. It has never failed to work.

What you must know is that assignments not only keep us busy but it helps to bring out the best in us.

Therefore, don't be weary of good doings. The Bible recommends persisting at doing good because there's a reward that'll follow hard and persistent workers.

Galatians 6:9, KJV

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Keep at it! As you do, you become better in both character and charisma.

Paul told Timothy to take heed unto himself and his doctrine.

I Timothy 4:16, KJV

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."

Someone who has no assignment or is no minister has no special reason to take heed unto himself and what he believes or teaches. However, your office, position, calling and the holy vocation you are called to amidst many people who are still sight seeing all around makes you reach for that standard - "taking heed unto yourself and your doctrine." Read that verse again and you'll see God prioritized your well-being over those you're called to minister to.

You can't be called and not have a better life for it. I have tested that since campus days. I compared the lives of people who submitted to discipleship through excoship with those who blatantly refused excoship even when they wanted to draft them in by the will of God and those who considered excoship a tedious work to only endure.

[Photo taken by Bro. Opeyemi Afolabi - CU President 2013/2014 who handed over to me as CU President of 2014/15. Shot later after the hand over in 2014]

I saw a difference.

Due to excoship, those ones took special heed unto their lives and what they do. The others - they lived carelessly. They called themselves mere fellowship members who don't have much laid on them and demanded from them.

They excused themselves from responsibility and so were excused from the accountability that could hold them up to higher standards. Not long, some made a shipwreck of their faith while some carry heavy scars from rebellion against God and His will.

While on campus in Anglican Students' Fellowship (ASF TASUED now TASFUED), excos fasted once a week. It is compulsory and you'll need to take permission from the president to be excused and your reason must be genuine. Somebody like me, people rarely patronize me for excuses. They know we must be trim and war ready. Even sisters fasted while doing menstruation. You're only exempted on health issues. All these put stuff and substance in people. Today, I live a fasted life. In one teaching I sent out years ago, I admonished former excos and leaders on their various campuses not to stop all disciplines of their offices after handover. They should inculcate it into their normal life outside excoship also.

Imagine being an exco from 100 to 400 levels and having fasted almost every Thursday. It means by the time you graduate, you'll have been accustomed to not eating on Thursdays at least. That's a discipline you must not crash.

That's how assignments make you better. And if you're wise, you won't reject assignments, especially when it's God ordaining them for you.

I am Olusola ADEJUMO. I bless you in the name of the Lord. I order your path to be straight. I command the line to fall for you in good places and I overturn, overturn until what is yours gets to you.

You're not weak. You're strong. Elias was a man of like passions (as we are); but he did excellently and broke the natural order. Go and walk in his steps. Defy the impossible and accomplish hard(er) tasks.
