MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
LORD, HOW LONG?
Psalms 90:13, KJV
"Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants."
You don't say the Lord should return if He hasn't left you to yourself in the first place. That's the prayer of Moses over Israel. It is that the Lord will return and renew His works of old amidst them. Subsequent verses after that reveal the specific prayer points of Moses.
God must of a surety return to us. Moses not only prayed but he also lamented how long it had been since they last experienced God. Don't forget that their generation in question is a stiff necked one that rejected God. Of course, they suffered for it. It is these sufferings that they wanted revoked. Now, Moses is saying, "O satisfy us early with your mercy...make us glad according to the days that you have troubled us..."
Is anybody there who's thirsty for the Lord and His return like Moses and the Israelites did? Have you missed intimacy with Him due to your negligence and apostasy? Is there anyone here saying, "O Lord, how long shall it take you to return?" Is that your heart cry and lamentation? Are you thirsty for life with Him? Have you suffered enough without life with Him?
Unless you have tasted the Lord, you experience no feelings of loss when He's no more with you. Moses knew the goodies of the Lord. He'd tasted Him afore hand with the children of Israel. However, that same Lord is nowhere to be found in their lives as they continually sinned and pushed Him off. Should such a man not raise a prayer altar? Should he not desire an immediate return of God, lamenting His delays when He doesn't appear with His works of old.
To dry off from the roots takes no time. All that needs to happen is for you is neglecting/rejecting God. The Bible says, "and without me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). Is it not in Him we live, move and have our being?
For short, we're consisted together in Him and when He's no longer there because of our rejection of Him, everything falls apart.
This morning, draw near to God and He'll draw near to you.
PRAYER: Lord, I draw nearer. Draw me near.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 4:18–5:27, Acts 15:1–35, Psalm 141:1–10, Proverbs 17:23
