INSURED!
II Kings 7:8, KJV
"And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it."
What you do with resources when it comes into your hands is more powerful than having that resources itself. Also, what we do with abundance in its season is a greater wisdom signalling our survival in days to come.
When the seven years of abundance came upon Egypt, the advice of Joseph was to take the fifth part of everything harvested and store it up. In his words, "it'll be food for the coming seven years of famine" (Gen. 41:34-36).
God is not unjust. He seeks to equate you to the challenge. That's why the Bible says in I Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Most often, God will always visit you with the way of escape before the problem comes. It may be by preparing you for hard days or by giving you superfluous abundance that could be invested for days of stringencies.
Look at these lepers. They know they are thrusted out people. They know they have no inheritance in the city. They know they are left to plan for themselves. And guess what they do in the day of abundance.
After they had met their primary and most pressing need of eating and drinking, they immediately insured themselves. The Bible says, "...and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it."
Do you see what they did? They didn't insure themselves once. They did it over and over again. They hid silver, gold and raiment. These are useful items that they can fall back on when the season of abundance the prophet prophesied and which has come is over.
That reminds me of this same principle of "repeated action" that Elijah did on Mount Carmel. When it was time to pour water round the altar, he told them to do it over and over again. What you do over and over again is what has effective potency to save you. Once is not enough. Saving and investing must become your habit. That's the only thing that can leave a mark on you or be resilient to stand in hard times.
I Kings 18:33-35, KJV
"33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water."
You see, if Elijah had only filled the trench with water once or twice, he might not have the testimony of water running round about the altar as recorded. It was his repeated actions that gave him that kind of overflowing or bustling abundance.
In insuring yourself against the harsh economic weather of the future, it is not what you do once. You must do it over and over again. Even the Bible says, "Joseph gathered grains like the sands of the seashore until he left counting" (Gen. 41:49).
You must have enough bustling and resilient investment/savings that can tackle the cold winter that's coming. All days will never be the same. Seasons will change. Interruptions will happen. That is why you must invent how to continue when those interruptions or shake ups happen. Your survival is a priority to God. So, keep saving. Keep investing! Carry out and hide. Carry out again and hide until it flows and run roundabout.
PRAYER: Lord, I lay and pile up embarkment for the future.
