MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
YOUR COORDINATES!
Genesis 19:1, KJV
"And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground."
The Bible says, "And there came two angels to Sodom at evening and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom..." Your coordinates is everything.
A lot of people aren't locatable at all. These angels are divine emissaries. They have come to confirm if the evil that has ascended to the Lord of Sodom and Gomorrah is as it has ascended. They could have bypassed everybody. Nobody could have seen them let alone stop them. However, at their appearance/arrival, they came falling into Lot's hands. As if he had a witness concerning them; he didn't lose them at all. Rather, the Bible says, "And Lot seeing them, rose up to meet them..."
You see, Lot is well positioned. He was at the gate. Those divine emissaries didn't pass him by. Even while at the gate, he is both aware and awake. He is sensitive and full of ears around his body. He could discern that these men should be convinced to dwell with him.
In short, what God was sending to Sodom and Gomorrah met him well positioned and ready to receive them. It is this divine perception and welcoming of these divine guests that leads to the saving of his house amidst a corrupt and perverted generation.
The Spirit is asking, "What is your coordinates? Are you at all well positioned? Are you where you should be? Are you hale and hearty spiritually? Do you still have ears and discernment all over your body? Or, you have been shifted or taken away from your position?"
There are those that would have been taken away before such a visitation of God. We read of the first family who at visitation time God couldn't locate. They were nowhere to be found in the presence of God. God had to raise an alarm. He had to begin to call them. Why? They were not locatable because they have sinned and have gone to hide themselves having discovered themselves - in the shame and guilt that sin brought.
Genesis 3:8-9, KJV
"8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?"
Their coordinates ought to be in the presence of the Lord. That's where they ought to dwell and be all the days of their lives. That's where they should have been found. However, they lost their bearings. They couldn't find their coordinates. So, they wandered off. They took off and hid themselves away. This made God begin to beg to have their coordinates. The Lord Almighty begins to call, "Where are you? Let me meet you. Let me see you. Let me know where you are. We have discussions. We need to talk." Imagine that!
A lot of people have absconded from God's presence like Adam and Eve did. God is saying, "The last time we came, they were here. What could now have happened to them? Where are they?" You see, they have lost their coordinates. They are no longer locatable. Heaven can no longer detect them before God. They have lost their bearings. It is disastrous because they won't be able to receive any incoming that God is sending. Just like Adam couldn't welcome God upon His appearance, they also having lost capability to hear or discern God will miss God.
God is looking for people who will take their stands in His presence. Irrespective of what the pursuit of bread becomes, God still doesn't want anything to dislocate them or relocate them away from His presence. God is saying, "I am not done with them. My mercy is given every morning. The words that I speak are very often (Matt.4:4). They ought to be available in my presence, in the spirit and in the Lord to hear/receive it and trap it." Abraham has that testimony. The Bible says, "And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD" (Genesis 18:22).
These were the same divine emissaries that came to inspect and met Lot at the gates. Abraham was standing well established where he could make contact with heaven. That place says, "Though they departed from Abraham, yet Abraham stood yet before the Lord." Why? Business is not over. Abraham knows transactions could still be done. God's presence is where communication is sent and is received. It is where things are influenced or changed in the Spirit. It is the place where you can have a discussion with the Lord to save people alive. That's the place Abraham was when he was bantering that God should spare Sodom and Gomorrah for the righteous people in it.
You must find your coordinates - be at your bus stop. Elijah found his - standing in God's presence undebatably.
I Kings 17:1, KJV
"And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word."
Mind the phrase, "Before whom I stand." The question is, "Before who do you stand?" Are you standing in God's presence or before another god? May you have the testimony of someone who stands before God's presence continually. Elijah couldn't have overblown it more than that. He said, "As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand."
May you not lose your standing! May you not be found to have departed from the faith - losing your standing because of compromise and sin. May you not concede grounds to the devil. May you maintain your integrity like Job. May you be like Mount Zion that cannot be shifted but abides forever.
PRAYER: Lord, where has my relationship and spiritual standing with you come under attacks. LIBERATE me!
