MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO
DIVINE COINCIDENCE!
II Kings 8:5, KJV
"And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life."
Say, "Mine will not be difficult to accomplish!" Say, "Mine happens with ease." Say, "Before arrival, God's angels go ahead of me to make mine possible."
That's exactly how it happened for the Shunemite woman. According to God's Word, she left to sojourn in the land of the Philistines because of a predicted famine. She dwelt in that place for seven years - leaving home, leaving farms.
At the end of seven years, she returned home but things were not the same again. She would need to now appeal to the king for the release of her properties. She was in the process of doing that when she met with divine coincidence. Ask what it is.
Shortly before her arrival, Gehazi had been recounting to the king the great deeds of Elisha as demanded of him. As a matter of fact, they were on her case. Gehazi was telling him about the woman whose child was raised from the dead (II Kings 4:35). That's the story and narration Gehazi was talking about when this woman entered the palace and appealed to the king for the recovery and release of her properties.
II Kings 8:3-4, KJV
"3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done."
How lovely that is? How timely that is? Imagine walking in flesh and blood to concretize what someone pines to hear about you. Nothing like this affirms and serves as convincing evidence. The king not only heard the story, he saw the woman and the child on whom the miracle was wrought. How blessed his eyes are! Gehazi said, "...my Lord O King, this is the woman and her son, whom Elisha restored to life."
To preachers, you will not only preach, tell narratives but rather it'll be backed up by power and evidence. May you have evidence to present. That's when it'll be undeniable. That's when you can convincingly win your hearers to yourself. Even if the king doubted the story of Gehazi before the woman's arrival, her arrival in flesh and blood settles and clears his doubt. Imagine just having the evidence of your ministry walk in where there's doubt, arguments and contention about how effective or great you have worked the calling. This is how God will shut those asking and querying you for the fruits of your ministry up. God will bring an undeniable proof to seal the truth you have said or that you will teach. You will not only be a story teller but an evidence giver. You'll also be able to say, "...this is the woman and her son whom Elisha restored to life."
At this point, doubt is cleared and denial is exterminated. So shall it be!
PRAYER: Father, back me up with proofs. May I not be alone without evidence.
