DO YOU HAVE PEOPLE ABROAD?

SEE THIS WISDOM!

Let me say this.

I've seen some people abroad lamented on how their people back home wanted to suck them dry.

I think there's a bad mentality that we have to correct.

That mentality is that ABROAD is always Green land.

It is this mentality that's making droves of Africans take illegal means to escape Africa for Europe.

You must have watched international news and heard of Africans that disguised themselves as sheep, Arab women or those who hid near a ship's rudder to escape abroad.

Countless stories of risks like these abound. Many have died and have fallen victims of several abuses through this route only.

It is this same mindset that's making family members at home believe that once they can send one of them abroad, the family will become well off.

That's not always the case.

That the family will be well off is still hinged on some other factors after that.

But irrespective, let people at home stop being latchers and suckers.

I am not saying your sibling, relative or friend abroad can't help you but mind how you relate with them and ask for help.

Don't be a frequent at their door.

I'll rather that you don't even ask at all.

Show yourself a worthy man. Prove your worth.

Apply yourself to hard work here in Naija. If that person abroad sees how you carry yourself - your determination, hard work, discipline and the fact that you're not like others, I assure you that he might likely invest in you and take a better liking to you.

This is even of more importance to those that their family member who's abroad is their younger brother or sister.

Now, how should you relate with your younger sibling that's abroad ?

Even if he has the money indeed, don't become a beggar to him. Don't put yourself under him by putting all of your family challenges and responsibilities on him. Disallow your wife from calling him frequently especially to notify him of your needs.

Whenever your kids speak with him or her, tell them not to pester them for things.

Stop forcing the hands of such people by telling your kids to ask things from them.

That's nonsense. In a more blatant way, that's bullshit. And it is.

Rather, conduct yourself very well.

Relate with him very well without offence. Let your family do the same. Rejoice and mourn with them as their situations might call for. Don't envy him. Pray for him. Share lessons from the Bible and life's experiences with him. Tell him to invest his money and secure his future.

Money flies as time does.

Let him or her see that my big brother loves me and sees to my welfare.

Let him be the one to ask you (as a responsible person that he is) what you would need or how he could help you.

That's more dignifying!

I don't think anything of your life is hidden from him or her since you have good relationship together. So, if you're struggling and you've only been enduring, he'll know.

And if your help doesn't or couldn't come from someone as close to you as that (until you ask and pester him), then let it be.

God might need to find you another vessel.

That is if you're the elder here and he is the younger.

If you're the younger asking from your elders, they know how to tell you you're becoming irresponsible without constraint or sounding disrespectful.

Follow that rule!

Especially if he's married, if you don't master this wisdom (when you're the older), the wife might see you as her rival and sooner or later, you won't like it.

Position yourself for things to be done to you in honour therefore.

While a lot of people are busy raving for money to eat from these people, someone who doesn't come often might win the favour of being invested in because he or she would have been seen in the light of being able to handle long term investment.

This address also goes to parents.

You're not wrong desiring returns from your children.

However, learn to have them breathe.

Why did I say this?

I learnt of a case where a man in one particular church was demanding thousands of pounds from his son for the celebration of a chieftain title in the church.

At day's end, the son sent nothing but rather spoke and convinced the father out of it in humility.

It was like wanting to rip someone off despite the untold hardship they pass through before making that money.

You think money grows on trees when you are abroad right?

You're joking!

It takes hard work. At times, it takes taking a humbling job with odd working hours.

Because of all these, let us be fair and responsible.

Be someone that they do things for out of honour.

Let your son/daughter look at you and say, "Daddy deserves to be celebrated on this birthday."

Let all of us quickly discern and live in the light of this truth.

THOSE WHO BIND HEAVY BURDENS ON YOU

Acts 15:10, KJV

"Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?"

May you not find yourself in this category - where you're the one binding heavy burdens on people when you should be advocating for their liberty. Unfortunately that is bound to happen when you refuse to operate under grace but under the law. When you have refused to be set at total liberty indeed, you might want other people to be as you are in the flesh before it can be said that their salvation is guaranteed.

Peter questions that mindset here even as some Jews, especially those of the Pharisees' sect are saying that the non-Jewish believers (Gentiles) must be circumcised before they could be saved or counted as part of Christ's body.

In replying, Peter says, "Why do you tempt God?" That means why are they opposing God. Before this time in Acts 10, the Gentiles had gotten born again through the gospel of Peter in Cornelius' house. God didn't discriminate against them. He poured the Holy Spirit on them like He poured on the Jews. They were born again like the Jews. God for once didn't require that they become Jews in the flesh first of all by been circumcised before they'll be born again or receive the Holy Ghost. So, in essence Peter was saying, "Why are you testing and opposing God's decision?" That's the meaning of that expression of Peter. He said that because he saw what God had already settled and set in motion as per the salvation of the Gentiles without asking for "prerequisites" are being fundamentally criticized and made nothing of. In essence, those fighting Jews would have the Gentiles get circumcised in the flesh as did Abraham and his downlines.

But Peter is saying, "That's over with" because God Himself is done with it. If He wanted it, He would have asked for it from the Gentiles before pouring the Holy Ghost on them.

Then Peter says, "...to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear."

Did you see that? By insisting that the Gentiles be circumcised , those born again Jews are actually putting a yoke on the Gentiles. A yoke is a burden or a weight. It can slow down and press on the bearer. That's the kind of suffering they are submitting them to. The yoke is the heavy burdens of Jewish law (rules, rituals, ceremonies). So, in essence, Peter was saying, "Why are you placing heavy religious burdens on these new believers?"

Unfortunately, their fathers and they stumbled under it. Even they, they could not perfectly keep the law. How many times have we made what grace did for us a matter of rites, rituals, ceremonies and legalistic acts that must be observed?

Salvation doesn't hinge on circumcision or rites that any man chooses to perform to God. He can do nothing to gain God's favour if he refuses to accept what God has done. It rather centers on accepting the finished works of Christ. The Gentiles believed and they were saved. If you too are, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9, KJV

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

This is all you have to do and believe in and you shall be saved. You don't need to make payment anywhere. You don't need to sleep with anyone or be anybody's slave before you can be saved. Do you believe in Jesus' death and resurrection? If you do, confess Him as Lord with that firm belief in your heart and you'll immediately be His.

PRAYER: Lord, may I not be the stumbling block on someone's path to salvation. Help me rather to take people and teach them the right way correctly.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

HAPPY EASTER!!!

YET WITHIN THREE DAYS!

Genesis 40:13, KJV

"Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler."

There are things that happen within a number of days. This event of the butler being restored back to his office is one. Joseph says, "Yet within three days, shall Pharaoh lift thy head and restore thee unto place..."

Did you catch any significance in that? Did you catch any feeling of predictiveness in that? "Yet within three days..."

It means what will happen will happen within three days. Time was measured and slated for it. Expectation and hope can therefore be aroused having something tangible to latch unto. "Yet within three days..."

Are there people reading this that the Lord's Word is also coming through saying, 'Yet within three days..."

When time is designated for something, you not only have prophecy at hand, you know when to expect till. "Yet within three days..." is the fence that surrounds what will happen to the butler and within three days as we read, Pharaoh lifted up his head and restored him to his office, to deliver the cup into his hands.

Genesis 40:20-21, KJV

"20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants...

21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand."

It happened within the specified three days, specifically delivered on the third. This is your third day too, I ask for you, "Be restored!" What have you lost that should be taken back? Let it happen on this third day. The Bible speaking of Jesus says, "Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption" (Acts 2:27, KJV).

He escaped corruption (the general fate of humanity) which is to die, decay and become decomposed by the earth. Rather, He rose. God didn't allow His Holy One to see corruption like David (an example of a mortal man) saw.

Acts 13:36-37, KJV

"36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption."

God sovereignly prevented Jesus from seeing corruption. That's because His Spirit raised Jesus from the dead (Rom. 8:11). And guess when it happened. It happened on the third day. That was not an accident. The third day was even prophesied by Jesus Himself and He didn't miss that slated time. Jesus was crucified on Friday (traditionally called Good Friday). He was placed on the tomb before sundown on the same day. On Saturday, he stayed in the tomb in silence - an act that actually testifies to the fact that He died indeed. Meanwhile, it's also at this time that He went and preached unto the spirits in prison though it wasn't visible to any human eyes (I Peter 3:19). This invisible workings that is a pause/silence to us is truly symbolic of the fact that all is finished and that every strivings are ended. However on the third day, Jesus rises from the dead. His tomb was found empty. He therefore fulfills the scriptures, "On the third day He will raise us up" (Hosea 6:2). Just like Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, so Jesus fulfilled and resurrected on the third day (Jonah 1:17, Matthew 12:40).

On the third day it was accomplished just like He Himself said, comparing Himself to Jonah who was three days and nights in the fish's belly. Today, every Word of God that has been tried till now in your life is coming to pass. This is the third day. Death couldn't hold Him captive. Nothing therefore shall be able to hold you captive. "For death couldn't holden Him down" - therefore you cannot be incapacitated. You will rather fulfill your prophecy and fulfill your destiny. So shall it be. Happy Easter!

PRAYER: Thank God for Jesus' death and all privileges availed us through His death and resurrection.
