MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

THE BEARING UP OF HIS WORDS

II Kings 7:6, KJV

"For the LORD had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us."

Yesterday, we began on this untitled series and we sure saw God's word meeting their ordained appointments. We also got introduced into 'the bearing up system of the Lord' so that none of His spoken words ever fall to the ground. We considered Psalm 91:12 that says, "On their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot on a stone."

We have a perfect story just to illustrate God's bearing up activities towards keeping the appointment of His spoken words. Do you remember the famine in Samaria? The one that happened when Syria came with equipping to besiege them and stay on their neck. Yes, it's that same one.

At the peak of that famine, Elisha prophesied the unusual. What he said made no sense because mothers had already started boiling their children for food and petty things had become more costly than never. Where would their salvation come from? It was unimaginable. However, he spoke by the Lord.

II Kings 7:1, KJV

"Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria."

Immediately he did, a lord on whose arm the king leans contests it. He would have Elisha not give them false hope. He even said it would be impossible if God were to open windows in heaven. He said, "Might this thing be?" You know what results for him.

Meanwhile, what I want to call your attention to is the preparation the Lord Himself begins to put in place to bear up His spoken words. God could go to any length to ensure His words don't fail and He sure did here. When Elisha prophesied the unlikely that got debated in the nation, God went on to begin to work towards fulfilling His word. What does God do?

God made the Syrians to hear the noise of a multitude of chariots/horses which they mistaken for hired mercenaries against them.

They had no choice but to leave. They were frightened out of their wit. However, that's not the miracle. The miracle is that they all left their tents as they were. They were so scared that they couldn't consider fleeing even on their beasts of burden or disembark and pack their provisions away. They fled on foot as they could. The scouts who went to confirm their whereabouts have that to report (II Kings 7:15).

All the provisions that Syria had brought for her army to last the day Samaria would give up were therefore left as they were - untouched and made ready for Samaria to plunder.

II Kings 7:7, KJV

"Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life."

You see, everything was left as it was! It is this good news that the four lepers who thrust themselves to fate out of courage discovered, shared abroad and which ultimately fulfilled Elisha's prophecy. Let the truth be spoken. God always watches over His words to perform it. What happened here to the words of Elisha is the perfect bearing up of any word spoken by God's mouth.

Do you have certain promises from God? Has prophecies gone ahead of you? God is watching over them to bring them to pass. Like He did here, He is organizing, strategizing and creating situations towards bringing to pass what His mouth has told you. You may say, "it's unreasonable." That'll be a perfect saying. Nothing was reasonable in what happened to the Syrians but all the same, they left their tents as they were. That's because the Lord has a need of it. I pray for you, begin to enter into the labour of people. Let people leave their things for you as it is. Let the Lord Almighty arise the situations that'll bring to pass every word spoken to you so that they might fulfill their appointments in your life. No missing of target. Ordainment must come to pass.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Let it be unto me according to God's Word!
