THE PRIVILEGE OF A PIONEER - For The Sake Of A Room Series 004

Genesis 2:19, KJV

"And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."

Somebody could not let go. Despite the solace and comfort provided him, he would still fight to have his claims accepted. He was criticizing why everything had to be hard and why it seems to enter a field or a profession, you have to battle with diverse gates and gatekeepers. His justification was, "in their own times (speaking of the established professionals - fathers of that field), they only strolled in. No hard core rule on ground. Nobody bound a mill stone on their neck; but now, they're asking for heaven and earth from us. Should that be?

I know the problem of this brother. Irrespective of how long he fights, he won't still get justified. The reason is simple. It was nobody's fault or those he was accusing that things have come to be established as it is. When those ones came in, there may be no ground rules truly but things were scattered and not established as they were now. It was those ones who by years of practice discovered the most acceptable ways to do things, wrote it down as laws to follow and as standard behavior or ways of life. They had to suffer finding out the way or the acceptable ways of doing things. And in truth, their suffering could be said to be an untold one. Take that privilege as their compensation!

That'll take us to today's devotional title - the privilege of pioneers. What is the privilege of pioneers? That's what I want to show you and I've already started showing you.

Pioneers may enter roughly without any standard rule in place but they decide the fate of others by setting rules in place that'll guide the entering and acts of other incomers. This is not cheating. Look at Nigeria for instance. Our first set of leaders were very young. Tafawa Balewa was 48, Olusegun Obasanjo (military rule) was 38,

Aguiyi-Ironsi was 41, Mohammed was 36 and

Yakubu Gowon was 31. Compare that with the age dominating politics nowadays. So, an undiscerning mind might pick a case on why youths must be made space for based on this earlier experiment that brought some in. But life doesn't always work like that. If you're pioneers, you may enjoy the privilege of entering while the standard is low. But watch it, once the system stabilizes and starts running, the bar is raised. That's why you must be a pioneer. Only few rules ever bind you but you rather create the rules of the system or field you belong to. You don't need to act selfishly in creating favourable rules, since the field is what you pioneer, the rules can't but attune to what you have found out and have lived for so far.

Look at Adam! When he hits the ground running, God brings all the animals to him. The Bible says, "it's whatever he calls them they bear." That's the privilege of a founder or pioneer. It's whatever he calls them they bear. Pick any subject or field of study, foundational laws, the terms and terminologies being used there were set and coined by the first comers. They may even name or coin concepts after their names. They're just above debate. Everybody will follow suit and will continue to herald them even hundreds of years after their demise. No rule that says, "this is how to name or conceptualize this thing in their day. Things were still scattered." Even if it'll later change, theirs would have passed as a model and a reference point even before a better way of doing things comes in. Why? They had laid when no one was there to lay! It therefore becomes, "things bearing whatsoever they name them!" No ground rules! No refusal of whatsoever they call or term it. It is whatever they name things they bear. Pioneers are so special that they get honourable treatments. Even if there are loopholes in their theories, formulas or any given framework, you must be careful how you criticize or make the world see the need for improvement lest they call you a usurper or one just looking for attention. Even if certain improvements are accepted, references can't but still be made to them.

What a privilege being a pioneer. It might be easy to start when there are no ground rules but I'm sure you also don't want to be the one to suffer in finding out the best practices and methods of practices in your field. While there's a privilege, there's also a responsibility.

PRAYER: I heed my own call and I tap the grace that goes with it.

LET US GO TO REHOBOTH: A LAND AND PLACE OF MANY ROOMS - For The Sake Of A Room Series 003

Genesis 26:22, KJV

"And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."

People of God, give your eyes no rest and your eyelids no slumber until you get to Rehoboth.

Rehoboth under the microscope I'm viewing is like your promised land. A place of arrival - where when you make it, you'll be shocked at the many provisions, yields and opportunities the place could give you.

It's like a traveller who has been travelling through the dreary, rocky roads and now gets to a fountain of water and a vine of fruits. You can't discount how blessed he is.

Face front - let your gazes be straight. Let your aspirations be towards Rehoboth. I'm hearing a Psalm in my spirit. I wanted to bypass it but it is crying more. Let me give you so that the anointing and light that word brings can fall on you as a weight of glory.

Psalms 84:5, KJV

"5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools."

Do you know what that Psalms says? Blessed is the man who goes on pilgrimage. Does that not fit the metaphoric and even physical journey we've been teaching on? It says, "passing through the valley of Baca makes it a well, the rain also fills the pool."

This might have referred to tears of pilgrims but it also refers to something else. The creative power to turn wilderness/deserts into fields and oasis of water. Even if the land is dry, once you arrive in Rehoboth, everything will answer you. The odds will reverse and become the good. You'll fill it with goodness. Largely, it is the man in Christ that fills things with goodness. What situation can he not turn if indeed he's in the centre of God's will for him. This reminds me of Mansa Musa (the richest man in history who once ruled over the entire Malian Empire). As he journeyed on pilgrimage to Mecca, the economies of all African nations/Middle East (all the settlements he passed through) changed forever because of the much gold he carried. He just strewn his paths with them all. People had never seen that kind of wealth before.

Listen, fill yourself with the visions of Rehoboth. Rehoboth is home - a place where all the dreams in you can come out. It's a place or field God has prepared to accommodate whatsoever you want to do or become. Rehoboth is the land of many rooms (not only one) for all your good intentions. It's a land of fertility where as you strike, the sap will come out. It's so fertile that your efforts are multiplied and resounding in such field once you find it. That's Rehoboth. Home of many rooms. Home with many accomodations. Do you want to write, sing, act, model, lecture, mentor and influence with your gifts? Your Rehoboth will give you all those. All those are in Rehoboth. It's a land where when you sow in it, you can bring forth plentifully because it's fertile and it's meant to yield the strength of its increase to you.

PRAYER: Lord, see me off to my land of many rooms and fertility.

PIONEERS OF NEW FIELDS - For The Sake Of A Room Series 002

Genesis 26:22, KJV

"And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."

God can ordain you a pioneer of a new field or niche. Contention is a spirit. If someone or some people are contending with you but are smiling, you could still feel the spirit and sense it in the atmosphere.

Not all contentions are bad. Some contentions are to help you. To relocate you into the centre of God's will for you. To relocate you from the bank of the waters into the moving stream where all life are. Look at Isaac. Look at how he was pushed from one place to another; even after one labour and the other.

Isaac lives up to God's Word that says, "as it concerns you, live in peace with all men" (Romans.12:18). On each occasion they strove with him that they were the ones who dug the well he dug, he left to go somewhere else to start or pioneer another work. That happened two times and he had to move or shift those two times. He could also have done that because he's a pilgrim in the land. However, irrespective of the reasons for having done that, his action reveals a man of peace. A man who believes in God's will. A man who knows that "no one can collect the will of God from him once found."

And that eventually happens. He was eventually compensated for all his losses and what we could call vain labour that he had done in those other two places. As they were shifting him (which God allowed), they tossed him to a place where he himself acknowledged that the Lord has made room for him. Do you know that he didn't have that testimony of the earlier two places that were collected from him? Not at all.

However, at arrival here, he could sense the peace, assurance and how this new land fits him. He senses God's guidance and involvement in his journey and gives off that cry, "now, we shall be fruitful in the land." Why? No more hostility or rival!

It means the Lord could have allowed or permitted them to have those two. It means God might have allowed to push Isaac to where he should rightly be. There's a place or a field to rightly be. You must be at the center of God's will. That's when you can be fruitful. That's when you can bring forth and multiply.

But the words that I heard were, "You'll pioneer! God is raising pioneers. Men who will start something new in a field or niche. Men who'll discover new fields even after many contentions with established scholars but who are jealous and envious of them." God is saying, "as they shift you and as you move, you'll eventually get to a loop and discover a Rehoboth that you could have to yourself. In such land or field, you can explore - dig wells and do as you'll like."

"This field will be all to yourself. No more interference. You'll have room to go to the left or to the right and do whatever comes to your mind." Who are those pioneers of new fields and niches God is calling out in Engineering, Art, Science, Medicine and any life work. Envy, contention might have taken place but it'll be taken over and ridden by God for your good.

PRAYER: Lord, carry me on until I reach my land of open space and fertile ground. I found and dig new wells.

Happy New Month!!!

THE TIME WAS JUST RIGHT! - For The Sake Of A Room Series 001

Matthew 3:1, KJV

"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea."

We don't like to be left in the dark. We all want to know. For this reason, some divine or search out the secret things of God. On occasions when we don't know or are left in the dark, we seek explanation over things we need answers to from those we think should know. Indeed, God has given to the human heart to demystify mysteries. Until we get an explanation, we're like a thirsty ground crying for waters.

This verse is a verse that has a puzzle in it to solve. It is a boom verse. A verse that just occurred like that and stares us in the faces. It never prepared us or let us into details about the fellow he's talking about. Listen to how it presents itself.

Matthew 3:1, KJV

"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea."

If I were to ask you how John the Baptist began his ministry, what would you say? You'll probably be short of words and a verse like this doesn't help us either. It only says, "in those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea." No background information was given us. So, you can't reverse to gather anything.

Simply, all other information before then weren't given us. Meanwhile, one thing is sure, no man can receive anything except it be given to him from above (John 3:27). This John the Baptist that now comes and preaches around wouldn't have been favoured if God has not shifted space of manifestation for him. If God hadn't called it his time, he couldn't have come out let alone be successful with preaching or beginning a ministry.

What I sensed from reading that verse is that God called that time John the Baptist came his time. Heaven had to open for him so that his ministry could commence. We might not have seen or read anywhere in the Bible where heaven was said to have opened for him literally, but I meant that God opened a window of allowance for him to start what He had called him to do.

Luke 1:80, KJV

"And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel."

Mark the usage of the clause, "till the day of his shewing unto Israel." That talks of time and a Kairos time. It means God sovereign had attached a time to the manifestation of John the Baptist. Until then, he didn't come preaching. He couldn't have. Why? The time wouldn't have been right for him. He would have been gagged and executed by the time that he had trespassed into that God didn't call his. If he tried preaching, he wouldn't have been successful. Time can make someone right and prove the other wrong!

This summarily tells us that nobody just appears. It must have been their time of appearance if they didn't violate God's will. God has a way of keeping any voice He'll use in the wilderness (for shaping and refining) until the day of his showing forth. Once that day nears or comes, it's the will of God that nothing will be able to hold them back. Rather, they'll manifest. So, the only explanation we could give to John's appearance of preaching suddenly and powerfully without any hints on background information is that his 'show time' has come. God had allowed him to manifest or flower!

Until God shows you to your world, trying is but in vain. If you trespass into time that are not yours or given to you, you'll suffer consequences. May we be humble to grow, wax strong in the spirit and stay in training (maintaining our separation and consecration) unto the day when it'll please Him to draw the curtain away and introduce us to the waiting people.

This is the Lord's doing, not any man's!

PRAYER: Lord, I wait my turn. I receive an awareness of my fullness of time.

WITHOUT HIM WE CAN DO NOTHING - One Alone Series 006

John 15:5, KJV

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

"...for without me you can do nothing."

We should keep that in our minds. We shouldn't for once sleep on it or let it slip. A word that's kept at heart can keep you from slipping you know. Psalm 119:9 says, "how can a young man keep his way clean but by taking heed according to your word."

Jesus speaks to His disciples here. He tells them using an agricultural illustration that everyone is familiar with. He says, "I am the vine and you are the branches..." The vine is a fruit producing tree. The vine is the trunk (tree) that carries its associated branches and that's Jesus. However, Jesus says, we are the branches - the members in Him. In another term, the members of His body - the same way any tree grows out branches from its trunk or shoot.

But then, He also reminds them that for them and consequently us to bear fruits, we'll need to abide in Him and He in us. If we do not remain in Christ, if we cut off fellowship [even if it's not yet relationship with Him], we'll be endangering ourselves because we can therefore bring forth no fruits except we abide in Him. Growing and producing fruits of the Spirit only happens in Christ. If you're not born again [haven't come into relationship with Him] or maintain that same relationship, how can you grow until all those come out of you.

Have you seen dissociated branches of a tree bring forth fruits themselves? It never happens. The reason is simple. They are not the part that's planted and firmly established in the earth. So, they can therefore draw up no nourishment or live having been separated. It's this imagery that Jesus wants us to understand as it concerns our relationship and fellowship with Him.

Any Christian that keeps his relationship running with God by constant fellowshipping and exchanges will bear fruits and much fruits for that matter. Do you know why? As he does that, day in, day out in close fellowship, the Lord will lean on him and he on the Lord. The Lord will begin to file him therefore. This filing is a sort of pruning so that the undesirable characters and lifestyles are peeled out of him. This way, he can reveal and manifest Christ likeness and the fruits of the Spirit like no other. In such Christian, you'll see a very mature, Christ centred and led one. He'll have been broken and saved from the passions of the world to be focused on things above though lives in this body and maintains a lifestyle as a man of like passions (but not as a sinner or as a stumbler) that God can't use unhindered. That's why you must mind Jesus' choice of words. He says, "the one who walks with Him in interrelatedness of fellowship or penetration" is the one that'll bear much fruits.

Meaning, it's the one that his profiting of having been with Jesus will easily show or shine before the world. You know there's a verse that says, "...that your profiting may appear before all" (I Tim. 4:15).

If you give attention to walk with Jesus, you'll have that reward. When you're contacted, people will easily see that the cross has crossed your will somewhere. It'll be obvious without raising a voice or an arm that you're yoked with Him.

Without him, we can do nothing! If you believe this, you'll submit to Him so that you can resist the devil.
