FITTING TIME: MEETING NEED
Brethren, I want to direct your gazes to God. I want you to lift your eyes to the Rock that is higher than you. Look up!
Do things just happen or there's a wheel behind the turns? I have traveled far and near, heard stories from ancient civilizations and modern ones alike. It can be told boldly that behind what appears is the invisible hands of God directing things even if it's to our oblivion. It's like the turning of the gyre!
Consider this verse below, what do you see?
Acts 7:20, KJV
"In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:"
Does anything strikes you?
In order to establish a good premise, order and footing, we ought to ask, "at what time was Moses born?" For that, let's read the verses that ran before this quoted verse.
Acts 7:17-19, KJV
"17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live."
Now, follow that first posted verse - "in which time Moses was born..."
Let me ask you now, "...in what time or at what time was Moses born?"
Go back to the passage for the answer!
The answer would be, "He was born at a time when Hebrew children were being cast out to die."
Now, to the big question. Why would God allow any child - especially His intended saviour in Moses to be born at such a dangerous time as this? Like we do popularly say, "why should God have said amen to the coming together of Amram and Jochebed?" Why these questions? Basically because we just read from the Bible that Moses found no other time to be born into but when that 'disaster' like no other was at its peak. He came when as soon as he was born, his life was being demanded of him. Why would a child come around or into such a mess? Why would the Creator let loose a human spirit - especially the one that's critical to His purpose, allowing it to solidify and take flesh in Jochebed's womb and be born into the evil untold that has been claiming many babies' lives? Why? Why? Somebody answer my "why!"
Do you want me to tell you the wisdom of God? The wisdom of God is what ordains our time of birth on earth. It is not only our parts that are numbered and constantly before God (Psalm 139:16). Our days also have been totalled - summed up and known even before the commencement of our journey on earth. The Bible speaking of David says in Acts 13:36, "For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:"
Why was David not born at the time of Abraham or Jesus? The Bible says, "He served his own generation by the will of God..."
Why did he come in his own time - with his own batch - in his own generation? Why? Why not another? It couldn't have been another.
That's because, "different men are for different days" and all human spirits before God have their scheduled time - of entrance, manifestation or disappearance!
Some spirits don't stay to follow this order. They might be forced out of their bodies and mandated to return.
All human spirits that are before God that have not been released into what I can best call the 'foetus' [for easy understanding], or birthed are before God awaiting their time. When a couple meets together like we have written in Exodus 2:1, "And there went a man of the house of Levi and took to wife a daughter of Levi", that's when God sends a human spirit that has a destiny to fulfill on the earth into a time that God had foreknown. It is this that'll lead to conception, bringing us to the second verse of that same Exodus.
"2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months."
For conception to take place, God had to honour it with a spirit. Where do we see that in the Bible?
Jeremiah 1:5, KJV
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
Now, there are three periods to note in that single verse.
a. Before I formed you in the womb (pre-conception)
b. Before you came out of the womb (pre-birth)
c. I sanctified you and ordained you a prophet to the nations (pre-conception and birth)
Which of these do you think is the oldest of the periods? Which was the first God did? It's the C! God had sanctified (set apart) and ordained for Jeremiah and each of us what we should be even before we took shape in our mothers' wombs or were birthed.
That time of, "I sanctified or I ordained you to be XYZ" therefore preceded others and was the time that hint at our spirit being before God - even when it has not been released or sent to unite [with the fertilized egg] or what the thing is that denotes conception.
Your body is therefore not what keeps or custodies the script of your destiny! Your body only carries that encoding or programming out after having its revelation as God had intended.
Spirits that have not been born (taking this our body) or formed in the womb already have their destinies and what God plans they should become or do on earth [only that they are not on earth as babies now or in the womb as expected babies].
It therefore means every individual born by a woman is meant to only align with a life that God has ordained. That's what we call, "destiny." Only that, "destiny" or "calling" is not the same as "career." All humans are meant to fit together as pieces of puzzles in the larger will of God. They're meant to complement something of God [that He wants done the way He wants it done on earth]. However, amidst that larger community of men are those who will only roam the earth, be distracted by whatever reason to another life or path. In this number are the multitudes that are not even born again and those who'll never be but rather pass away without discovering or living the life God had written for them.
Having gone this far to establish that, it's therefore not strange to see why Moses was born at the heat of the killing of Hebrew children in Egypt. He came when he was needed! God had a purpose for releasing the human spirit eventually named Moses to Amram and Jochebed. That is basically because He has looked forward and put preparation in place towards fulfilling the promise He made to Abraham that his descendants would one day be exodused out of their house of slavery (Gen.15:13-14). Now, who's the instrument of God to accomplish that if not Moses?
Giving birth to Moses when Children were being cast out is part of God's hidden wisdom to begin to fulfill that - even if it seems in our eyes to ask what a baby could do.
But you'll agree with me that though a baby in Moses was born, it was an adult God sent and waited for to heed his call. Until you come to the realization of your call, God can therefore do nothing. So, God had factored those times of growth, wilderness experience and whatever into it all for Moses to be ready. I don't know a great planner like God. He plans till the end - till the day dawns!
That's why that verse could read, "in which time Moses was born..."
God's wisdom intentionally allowed his own conception at that time so that Moses can fit the time and time description God afore gave to Abraham as an expiration of Israel's slavery. That a man from the house of Levi went out, spoke with another woman of the house of Levi and married her at that time was not behind God at all. He had been influencing their decisions all along.
There's always a time designated by God for certain earthly events in our lives. You're to 'collide' with it! We only need to know it and align. Provision was waiting for Elijah by Brook Cherith. All he had to do was to take dressing and turn himself eastward (I Kings 17:3)!
That's why God was especially committed to saving Moses. It made no sense that Moses escaped death. We're all familiar with how it happened and how God had to nurse him on the authority and privileges of he who sought his life. This is nothing but the orchestration of God. No human could have made things this beautiful or work out a Mathematics as fine as this.
So, I can boldly say, your own child is not a misfit. God has a purpose for his or her coming. All things are even made ready for him. That he came into a Christian hands means he has an assignment and like an actor on the scene, God would like him to play his role. It's now left to you as a parent to sense this, communicate this and have him receive it as a revelation or uncover it personally as a discovery. There's a music to dance to its tune. God will spread the stage for you, raise help for you and make things beautiful for you in its time. The defiance is only if you forfeited it all and never trusted Him or see those opportunities as sensible to take in order to become God's intention.
Mark that clause once more - "in which time Moses was born..." He met with his right time - the designated time of God. He didn't fail to meet up with his time. Rather, he came in the heat of it when all has been set for his salvation and when God has ordained that all his bills be paid. He came when the plan for a saviour is critical and God is beginning to take an active stance on it. Though many people don't smell him as one, his mother (family) does. They could see that this is "a goodly (special child)." Moses' destiny could be perceived by their spiritual senses. They saw beyond the ordinary. That's why they risked it for three months and yielded him only to God when they couldn't any longer. Moses' parents literally walked or aligned with God for the salvation of Moses' life. So, Moses had to be saved.
Moses is a type of Jesus. As a matter of fact, Moses had a destiny similar to Jesus. He faced the same evil as Jesus. Interest you to know that Jesus also had to escape to Egypt (Matt.2:13-14) when male children's heads were called for. Moses also (though in Egypt already) had to live and be protected by the reserved right of Egypt - the Pharaoh himself.
That's why we could have this ancient prophecy fulfilled when Mathew says, "and out of Egypt have I called my son."
Matthew 2:15, KJV
"And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son."
Which prophet said what we just read in Matthew?
Hosea 11:1, KJV
"When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt."
Moses led Israel (God's son) out of a physical house of bondage - Egypt and from the terror of a hard master - Pharaoh. Jesus by destiny (Matt. 1:21) also led people out of the bondage of sin and death, translating them into the kingdom of light (of God's dear son) - Col. 1:13
Moses is a shadow of Jesus. He only spoke of a salvation to come which already came and found fulfillment in Jesus. As the nation Israel is God's son and was led out of Egypt (the house of bondage), so are you God's son and daughter that God had to give His first born for (in Jesus) to bring out of sin and the kingdom of darkness. You see, OT is a type and shadow!
Something had to be given! The night Israel left Egypt, all first born (humans and animals) died in the tenth plague (Exodus 11-12). Coupled with the deliverance of Israel through the blood of the passover lamb, we see nothing but a foreshadowing of Christ's death for our salvation.
The question now is whether you've received Jesus into your heart or not. If you do, you'll be brought out from the kingdom of darkness and be giving God's own life - eternal life (John 3:16).
To round off, Christian parents, that child on your knees has been prepared for if you'll know that. God doesn't send anybody here (to the earth) without shifting a space for them amidst the great and the strong and finding ways for them. Only that humans may not align or see God's resources to take. That's why only Jesus was recorded to have escaped the sword of Herod in His day also. He only has listening and connected to God parents. Step by step, the parents were receiving instructions for his living. So, he was preserved. The same can be said of Moses. Where the Bible says in Matthew 2:18, "In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not", Jesus' parents were comforted and delighted that God saved them.
"Rachel [is interpreted to mean the multitude of parents who lost children] who wept and refused to be comforted..." For short, let's say Israel!
That metaphor never extended to Jesus' parents as earlier spoken by Jeremiah, recalled and used to metaphorize the grief of Israel.
Jeremiah 31:15, KJV
"Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not."
Babies, your lot are different. The lines have fallen for you in pleasant places. You're welcome. You have arrived rightly. You couldn't have made this trip earlier or later in time. You came just in time - when you're needed and when God would want your race to begin and your time to start counting.
But amidst all, God also knows that this is your best time to play your role. You're not deficient. You're not a bench warmer. You're an active participant in life with something to give and do. You have a destiny - a need to meet in your day and a cure to give. You are a balm and a balsam to the nations.
I'm recalling that clause again, "in which time Moses was born..."
What a time! What a coincidence that meets with God's providence! What an hour! What a moment that collides with purpose, destiny and what the sovereign counsel of God has set to do!
Hallelujah! Rise and fill your vacant spaces! You're just the ones we're waiting for.
Amen!
