AN EASTER MESSAGE: ROLLED BACK AND SAT UPON!

ROLLED BACK AND SAT UPON!

Do you believe the Lord Jesus Christ, "has borne your griefs, carried your sorrows?" Do you anyway know and affirm that, "he was wounded for your transgressions, bruised for your iniquities: the chastisement of your peace laid upon him; and that with his stripes you are healed?" [Isa.53:4-5].

You may know theoretically and not have learnt or proven it by experience. However, those are the things Jesus' sufferings, death, burial and resurrection did for us. And even many more! They are your vital benefits but you may discount them and not draw them into your life.

Today, God wants to offer you enlightenment for short. In a passage of the Bible, we read the story of certain caring women of Jesus' team rushing to His grave but with one concern, "who'll roll away the stone for us." They took thought for that since the rock carved and put as a cover on the tomb's mouth (or entrance) isn't what they have strength to roll away. But what was their experience? They found out that it has been rolled away. An angel it should be (a being that excels in strength) had done that before their arrival.

Mark 16:3-4, KJV

"3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great."

Now, coming into another book of the Synoptic Gospel, we can see God's angel rolling back the stone on Jesus' tomb and then sitting on it. Not only was "the challenge, problem, sickness, affliction, death, reproach, sin etc" rolled back or away but it was taken by he who rolled it away and sat on (Jesus in this case). Read!

Matthew 28:2, KJV

"And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it."

Did you read, "and sat on it." It was an angel who descended from heaven in this verse, rolled back the stone and sat upon it but that is the exact thing Jesus did spiritually for us. The story of this angel 'rolling back and sitting on' just metaphorically describes what Jesus did. As a matter of fact, the process is the same. Jesus descended from heaven, having taken on flesh (Matt.2:1, John 1:14, Phil.2:6-8). He was therefore born as a human. He then rolled back the stone (by doing all the things we earlier read in Isa. 53:4-5 and many more for us) when he had suffered, was crucified, dead and had risen. He not only carried our sorrows, borne our griefs or took our sins upon Himself, He rolled it away and this shows in the forgiveness and offer of the righteousness He gave us (Isa.1:18).

1 Peter 2:24, KJV

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Our sins and other evils of ours that he bore paints the image of "rolling and sitting on." When that angel "sat on" that stone, it means having, possessing or taking it for himself. For short, He keeps them all with Himself. He collected 'those concerns and evil fate of ours" and made them His. He collected them, carried them, and possessed them for Himself that we may be free, sinless and new.

God has not only rolled the reproach away, He is also sitting on it now. He has borne it all by Himself. "Sitting upon something" also shows sovereignty over that thing. It shows your mastering it. It portrays you as the conqueror and that thing as the conquered. That's absolute victory. The same way, David stood over Goliath in victory (I Sam.17:51)! The same way, we were promised we'll tread or trample over serpents and scorpions (Lk.10:19). All these verses show absolute victory over something! Christ's is absolute victory over death, sin and consequences of sin. He rolled it back and sat upon it (taking it for Himself and exercising authority over death).

During the silent period of Jesus in the grave, He fought with death and conquered death. Death is therefore swallowed up in victory. We then can jointly say, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"(1 Corinthians 15:55). Jesus is now 'sitting' on death, having rolled it back. So, we are no longer fearful of death. We have hope of eternal life with Christ.

Say, "...Jesus (not an angel now) rolled back the heavy stone of sin, sickness, diseases, ancestral curse, fear of death, death itself etc and sits on them all in total and absolute victory.

His victory is our victory. What He does for us is our inheritance and heritage as co-heirs with Him. We therefore live in this knowledge and effect them in our daily living even when we perceive a contrariness that the devil might want to put on us through his lies or deception.

Look, He (Jesus Christ, not an angel now) has rolled it all away and sat on it. He took it all. He took the shame, the reproach! That's why he that rolled away the stone was also the one who possessed it by sitting on it and having it for himself. It shouldn't harm you any longer. That's because it has been sovereignly subjugated by Christ Jesus, the conqueror of death and all evils.

As we celebrate Easter, come into this understanding and live in this revelation. Whenever you perceive sickness, fear of death or whatsoever being brought back to your mind, body or into your situation but which Jesus already finalized by rolling away and sitting on, it's time to stand firm in your faith to resist it in the multitude of the knowledge you have in Christ Jesus.

What has been rolled back and sat on is not intended to come back and hurt or haunt you. Even then, Satan would still want to deceive you with their potency. But, you must know such finished works of Christ that neutralizes those afflictions Satan may want to recall in your life. You must believe in those finished works, affirm them and live them out.

It's possible because the life you now live in the flesh is lived by faith in the Son of God who died and gave His life for you (Gal.2:20). Let God therefore live in/through you. Let Him breathe in you and step by step exhibit and act this victory continuously through you. That's when you can live over sin and all satanic evils. In essence, that verse asserts God teaching/helping us to live in our victorious new life! He'll teach you! He'll help you!

Remember, He (Jesus and not an angel) has rolled back the 'stone' and sat on it! It's an act of absolute victory. Conquered and never to rise! Keep it that way!

Happy Easter Brethren!
