INCREASING IN LEARNING

Proverbs 1:5, KJV

"A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels".

What we know is lesser than what we don't know. That is why we give effort to know. Despite this untiring effort to know, nobody really knows. No one really knows because the knowledge he has known is still very limited to what he should or could know. Daily discovery of new things astound and reveal us as just new nursery learners in school. This should put us on tip toes to learn.

The truth is that you can increase or diminish in learning. The man that hears and increases in learning is a wise man that doesn't want to become a fool by time. He's already wise. That's a man that has knowledge and could apply them. Meanwhile, one thing keeps happening to that man. He hears more and as he does, he increases in learning. He observes them all contrary to what some would have embraced which is to stop or diminish in learning since they already have a wealth of knowledge. This man rather goes on to allow the information that comes his way nourish him.

One can easily be deceived especially if he is well read. He can use it to pull rank. He can even get to a place where he is satisfied having books in his library but self deceived, he doesn't need to read them again. A satisfaction of "I have knowledge in books" and not "at heart" can creep in. When it does, a once upon wise man will eventually become foolish. The day anyone stops putting extra on what he has known already is the day that his doom approaches. His day will begin to be numbered. The vast estate he has built by much attention to wisdom and instruction will by time develop cracks.

It takes perpetual humility to regard oneself as a student. No matter the level you've attained, you're actually still a student and you must see yourself so. The Bible speaks of a wise man who hears and increases learning. He is already wise and is qualified to say "I'm full", but he rather covets more knowing fully well that the sustainment of his life and whatsoever system around him is actually based on daily increment of learning. One wisdom and the tapping into a knowledge brought you to where you are. What will take you from where you are to another place where you should be is another knowledge or wisdom. Despising it means maintaining a stationary position. You may long for a change of levels but if you resist the knowledge and wisdom that promotes and translates, you'll but stay on one level.

Proverbs 9:9, KJV

"Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning"

With another like Bible passage, it seems to me that a wise man benefits more from wisdom than a fool. That's why despite what he already has as an asset, he doesn't reproach wisdom or instruction. He knows it is his pathfinder. So,one thing becomes his outcome as he gives heed - he becomes more wiser, he increases in learning. He accumulates new things that he could call his. He keeps on growing and growing and growing. His growing just continues. Fools aren't like him. They reject instructions and instead of being brought out of simplicity, they die there. The wise increases in learning though the one who could have been self deceived to stop learning. That's why that place says "yet he becomes wiser". Does this tells you that the wise will become wiser and the fools become more foolish? The wise seems to be having more. Their great estate didn't quench their thirst for more. I remember a place with this saying:

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath" (Matthew  13:12).

Some are getting better by the day while some seems to observe the reversal also. Your not stopping to increase in learning even means the ability to keep challenging yourself to be a better person. Irrespective of what moral, lesson, doctrine, education you hold as supreme before, in the light of a better one, you're meant to forsake the outdated for the more prospering. You too, despite being already wise, you can yet be wiser. There's always room to be better in attainment.
