MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

IT IS BECAUSE SAMSON HAS BECOME PREY - NOW Series 12

Judges 16:18, KJV

"And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand."

A prey is an opportunity. Ask me and I'll prove it. The Bible says, "How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? [Deuteronomy 32:30, KJV].

In the case of Samson, when the Spirit left him, he became cheap, soft and was taken as an opportunity (a prey). Delilah also speaks here in a very close manner Caleb spoke. She said, " come up this once. It means "this final unfailing time" in that context. The Philistines had gone some times before but Samson always snapped awake. This time however, Delilah assured that what she severally had sighted as opportunity but missed as indeed opportunity has become opportunity indeed. So, she sent words, "come and gloat over him. Come and take your profit and do with him whatsoever you wish". What happens when they arrive indeed? Did Samson not behave as an opportunity indeed? He did because he couldn't resist them. They therefore captured him and made him into a toy - leveraging on him as an opportunity.

Judges 16:21, KJV

" But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

That's the fate of an opportunity. It's an opportunity that doesn't looks threatening since what's threatening in it has been taking care of either by removal or the altering of your own understanding to see it in a new light as no danger. When Samson was complete - with God on him, who dares touch him let alone touch his eyes? That will be  risking death. But after he was made an opportunity, it doesn't take much to have his submission. It was even a young chap that was leading him all around.

Judges 16:26, KJV

"And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand..."

Do you know why? He has been reduced to an a cheap commodity. I hope you've heard of dogs that can't bite before. That's an opportunity for robbers. It's to their rejoicing that what makes it threatening has been disabled. I pray for you that what can harm the devil in you won't be lost. If it is, it is restored in the number of years you've been without it. No one will be able to take you for granted or rub their hands on your head anyhow. In my home land, Nigeria; we have a sarcastic saying that's said to anyone that dares a vehicle on motion. We'll say, "why not, since what kills in it has been removed?" Samson became a prey and all respect was lost for him when he was shaven. This is how people use opportunity and deal with it. I pray that what is harm in what you're seeking to possess will lose his wonder, awe and fear. It will be easy for you to subdue.

PRAYER: Pray for all ministers that cross your mind not to lose God. Pray not to lose same.
