WHAT AN HONOUR! - Make a Search Series 003

Read I Kings 5:1-5

I Kings 5:6, KJV

"Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians."

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter but the privilege of kings is to search it out. If God prides, boasts and has the privilege of making matters mysterious to us, our being called to come and find, decipher what God has coded is what brought honour on us. We should count ourselves worthy of such call.

David had died and here is new Solomon speaking to Hiram on the need for him to build God's house. He requested Hiram, King of Tyre to hew him cedars of Lebanon. Solomon then said something worthy of note, "for none is skillful in the hewing of cedars like the Sidonians."

How did you think Hiram receives that request? With thanksgiving that he was found to do a task for a king though he's also a king. His competence was praised by David when he said there's none like the Sidonians in hewing of trees.

You must see the honour that people are trying to do you when they request your help. If you can't do it, they wouldn't have brought it. It is the greatest honour ever whenever someone finds you fit for a job.

God found mortal men fit for the job of finding out matters. Solomon found Hiram fit for hewing down cedars. Make it a prayer that God and people would honour you by finding you fit of a work. How can we commit something tangible into hands that's disable handling it? Solomon would never make that mistake. He doesn't want to suffer loss which is why he clarifies for Hiram why he's choosing him - his competence.

It is an honour to serve the king. It is an honour to be found of service. It is an honour to be called to render one's skills. It is an honour that God even makes financial demands on you. Everything is to esteem you. Everything is to make you feel acknowledged. So, see it that way and not rather refuse God or godly leaders who might call you for the accomplishment of a task.

There are people that I have called to do one or two things for us in ministry or even for myself. Many of them would zoom off in haste and get it done. They have the revelation that if they say no, God would find another. He is never stranded. However, you should count yourself worthy that somebody could see you where you're located with the bundle of gifts in you and is calling you to come and put it to play. Is that not an honour being done you? That is wanting to bring you out to the public. If you don't turn down that assignment, another would come your way through the one at hand and that's how you'll be earning commendations and recommendations on and on.

A call to a task is not a favour you're doing God, it's a favour God is doing you. It's an honour having being called in the first place. In this world where there are many professionals, if your competence is praised and you're called for the job, it is an honour. Cling to it and deliver your best.

PRAYER: Father, let my work preach me. Let people testify good of me. Recommend me. I release myself and my gifts to serve you.
