THE JOURNEY WITHOUT HONOUR - Don't Downgrade Yourself Series 001

Read Judges 4

Judges 4:9, KJV

"And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh".

Do you want to know what I heard which led to this teaching? "The journey without honour!" Just then, a voice responded in me, "may we not go on one". May I ask, "do you want to embark on a journey without honour?" A journey without honour is akin to a vainless labour. The kind of labour that returns no profit.

By the inspiration of the Lord, Deborah, a woman with a calling on her head called Barak and told him of the need to go war against Sisera. She delivered God's message. "And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand (Judges 4:7, KJV). This is enough assurance for any who has ears to hear. God Almighty said he would deliver Sisera into Barak's hands. However, he isn't satisfied. He's doubtful, scared and unsure. Do you know what he did next? He refused to agree. He refuted Deborah and point blank and bluntly tells her he won't move an inch except Deborah goes to battle with him. It is good to test realities and test the veracity of God's spoken word but this brother Sisera is actually reducing the honour of his office doing this. He's degrading himself as a male and then the leading warrior. He's proving to be incapable. You'll see.  At war, the living God, ever faithful kept to His promise and discomfited the Sisera's army before Barak's. They chased and ruined them with the edge of the sword. It was such a very easy battle for the Israelites because God helped them from heaven above (by releasing angelic assistance) and earth beneath (by allowing that ancient river, Kishon to sweep Sisera's soldiers away). In this way, Israel won and Sisera on seeing how the battle has turned contrary flee on his feet. Wait o, he fled? Yes, he did. This fleeing is to fulfill prophecy. Where did he flee to? To Jael, the wife of Heber with whom Jabin, Sisera's Lord have pact. That's wisdom right? You don't seek asylum in the camp of your enemy. You do with whom you have pact to watch each other's back. However, when God has declared that the journey Barak is embarking on with the accompaniment of a woman (Deborah) who shouldn't be dragged into the matter at all will be without honour for him, then prophecy must be fulfilled even under the strictest and harshest or contradictory measures. Prophecy is like a bulldozer. Once it is issued like this. It becomes a force that consumes all hindrances on its path in order to deliver and find rest. The Lord watches over His words to perform them. Let me ask you. Should it be Jael, the wife of Heber with whom Jabin has pact that would kill (betray) Sisera? Who should lie and seek to cover Sisera completely if not she? However, since the release of prophecy, it has gone out contending for realization.

At the arrival of Sisera at Jael's lodge, he was accepted, relieved with milk and treated lordly. It was not long Jael drives a tent peg into his head. Behold the fulfilment of prophecy that the honour would be to a woman.

Let me warn you as the Spirit is urging me to do. Those of you God has given assignments to who's calling others to go on the journey with you when they've not being assigned are only trying to reduce, share or eradicate what honour God could have used you only to cause. Your reason is loneliness, fear, doubt and failure and so you seek a companion. Don't you know that if you call those God has not called or given you, they'll seek payment. That's why Deborah said, "the payment is that the main man (that you should kill) won't be sold into your hand but into the hands of a woman". We women (of whom I'm part) shall carry the trophy and so it happened.

How many of you wants to accept this kind of deal in business? Do you want to miss the real offer? Killing ten thousand soldiers isn't a matter as being the one that carries the head of Sisera. So, be warned and don't bring yourself under conditions that God initially freed you from in all His wisdom. I pray that the honour of the journey will be yours. None will share it with you. The glory is the Lord's but the honour is always men's. There's no assignment without honour but that of Barak whenever it's recounted, there would always be a pointing to the fact that it was a woman who did the job (thereby humiliating him and all the male soldiers taken to battle). It would have been better not going at all. So, be warned.

PRAYER: Lord, may I not bring myself under a lesser treat that I'll regret. I'm courageous, strong and up to the task. Here I am, anoint me.

THE HEART THAT GOES WITH YOU

READ II Kings 5:1-27

II Kings 5:26, KJV

"And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?"

Where can we go from the presence of God? Psalm 139 is a psalm of discovery that shows our not being able to escape from the Lord.

Psalms 139:2-3, KJV

"2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways".

God is the one that compasses your path. He is the God that surrounds you. In today's passage, Gehazi runs after Naaman to demand of him things that his master, Elisha had rejected after Naaman was healed of leprosy. After his arrival back to the master, Elisha requested of him where he was coming from. He lied and said " thy servant went no whither (II Kings 5:25, KJV).

Elisha then replied, "went not mine heart with thee when the man alight from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to collect this and that?" The following consequence is that Gehazi is cursed and he carries the leprosy of Naaman.

You should know that God's eyes follows you all-around. There is nothing done in secret that won't be made manifest is what the Bible says. As a child of light therefore, let your deeds be wrought in God so that you won't fear being exposed. If you have good deeds, you'll want to manifest it in light/public but if your deeds are evil, you'll want darkness to cover you.  Secret sins and abominable deeds are really irritants to the Lord. You shouldn't indulge in any because God's heart and eyes would always go with you. Your conscience would bear you witness and call you to questions and order.

There's no time like any other to stop secret sins and come to repentance also than now. It is God before whom we all have to do. Fear Him as one that knows all, sees all and surrounds you about. Decide today not to carry any consequence resulting from secret sins like that of Gehazi. When your ways are straight, you purchase for yourself clear conscience before men and God. Gehazi though lied he goes no where that day knew deep down that his conscience bears him witness. As he denies his master, his heart tells him, "you lie". Your first judge as you go is your heart. So, pay attention.

PRAYER: I break loose from any habitual sin. I shall keep no secret sin that would bring me losses, harm or death. I'm a child of light and I manifest so.

ALL OF THEM WILL FIGHT BY YOUR SIDE

Judges 5:20-21, KJV

"20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera. 21 The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength".

The resources, company and aid of a child of God is very much super and also much than that of his opponent. There's nothing that the devi can manufacture, is manufacturing or will manufacture that a child of God can't beat due to God's provision aiding him.

In today's reading, Barak went to battle against Sisera, the host commander of Jabin's army. However, he was discomfited by the Lord and all his warriors sent into panic mode. Sisera himself had to escape on foot. Begin to think of what could happen to a high state official or politician that would make him consider to escape on foot rather than his stately vehicle. Which one is faster for escape? However, which one is safer for escape? He probably wants a better cover in a place that he doesn't want his state chariot point the way to him. Nevertheless, the entire army was defeated by Israel. This defeat didn't come by ang special warriors taken to battle but by God's intervention and help to Barak and Israel. When Israel fought Sisera, it was not only the soldiers who fought, some natural and supernatural elements came to fight on the side of Israel in order to wreck Sisera down indeed. If not, the defeat of Sisera shouldn't have been so quick like this and a whole general reputed for fierceness in battle turn back for escape.

We were told that stars fought in their causes against Sisera. Are these the normal stars that came out at night in the starry sky? No! The stars there are better interpreted as angels. That's the first help and supernatural help that God sent amidst the troop of Israel for the quick defeat of Sisera. These angels came in a well ordered troop without breaking rank. Then, we were told that River Kishon washed many of Sisera's soldiers away. That's a natural element fighting on behalf of Israel again. What does this denotes? It means both in heaven and on earth, the tide turned against Sisera to have him defeated. While the tide has turned against him both naturally and supernaturally to see to his fall, the tide was working for Israel.

These are your resources. You can boldly be assured that what you take into battle isn't what the enemy has to bring into such space. That prophet has a revelation of this when he says they that be for us are more than they that be with them. You're more endowed and so fit for battle. The weapons of your warfare are not carnal yet are mighty to the pulling down of spiritual strongholds. The amenities and arsenal that fights on your side are just too numerous for you to be defeated. God will use everything possible to aid you in this life until you succeed. He doesn't withdraw his angels. Are they not ministering spirit? Neither will he spare the wind, even East wind, the sun, the moon etc to fight for you. Today, I make a call to the heaven that resources that answered Israel on this day would answer you. When you're in dire need and you need to break the back of opposition, you'll not only fight as a human and use your natural and limited effort/wisdom, you'll be aided by so many aids that you less thought off. Never think it was a small issue when the Bible says, you'll be in league with the stones of the field. Being in association with all natural forces make them work for one and not against one. Look, you're the one the Lord is fighting for.

PRAYER: Today, I command all aids meant for my help, arise for my deliverance. They that be with me are more than they that be with them.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

BEWARE OF THOSE AND ANYTHING THAT DESPISES THY YOUTH

READ I Timothy 4

I Samuel 17:32-33, KJV

"32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth."

If you have started, congratulations. If you are just seeking entry, may you be fortunate gaining one. The reason is because there are demons fighting starting. David showed interest in combating Goliath but he was not allowed to act on it immediately. He was first of all held back. A voice reasoned his authenticity to fight Goliath and almost quenched him. The voice was Saul's saying, "you are just a youth but he has been a man of war from his youth." Though it was a sense of responsibility that made Saul made this statement yet the demon of discouragement that lurks into people's lives and hinders them from ever going or starting on the road of mainstream purpose was actually hiding behind those words. David could have reasoned with those words and agreed he was just a youth. Saul's description of David humiliated David as being small and incapable. The picture that demon was painting to David was that of his incapability. Thank God David didn't see himself in the light of those heavy words. Saul said David can't handle the challenge but David rather reveals his past valour as criteria that made him fit for the job [I Samuel 17:34-48].

My prayer for you is that you'll pass when you want to heed destiny's assignment but discouragement are being launched at you. How many of you has the Lord called who should run for Him but who have been stopped and forever quenched by men's words especially those of authorities or those with oversight over you? Saul is a man with authority over David and he almost killed that divine motivation and energy of David to go and fight Goliath - which could have hindered the climbing of David into being acknowledged as a man of valour and one to be trusted and then followed in matters of war. It is not the fault of those who despise you and say you're too small for the job but yours if you allow your motivation to be quenched. Did the Bible not say that you should let none despise your youth [I Timothy 4:12]. You must shake them off with their despise.

There are despisers of one's youth. They may also be acting out of jealousy. They are of the set that missed the will of God while young who are too full of envy to guide youths (who still have time and energy) into starting and catching the flight of destiny while they may. I pray that every counsel, admonishment, question that is not the Lord's will for you to agree with won't comfortably take you away from your assignment. This same Saul telling David he was too young to confront their challenge also said "Goliath has been a man of war from his own youth." Why shouldn't David start from his own youth? Many who are saying you're too young to start actually started early. Please, ask them when you'll start if it is not now. Did you see the lie of the devil and how he crawls into the called, chosen, anointed's life to postpone their destiny until they're drawn and drawn further away from heeding the call of destiny through the demon of delay and procrastination which makes them see their incapacity. I'm sensing the oil flowing on me now. Henceforth, the devil won't lie to you successfully again. See what is not the right advice to take. That's what Eve could have seen in the garden when the devil was telling her what good eating the fruit will do her. She did not until eating it leads to their undoing [Gen.3:1-7]. Have an open sight and heart. Don't be dull in perspective but rather like a contender and apologist be ready to give an answer like David gave to Saul on how God has been using him to glory and gloat over similar issues but represented in killing of the lion and the bear.

PRAYER: I refute seduction away from destiny and kingdom assignments. I have correct insights into wrong counsels and advice. I won't fall prey like those that heard the call but couldn't heed it. I start now.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

A CURSE AND WHAT IT DOES

Read Numbers 22:1-10

Numbers 22:6, KJV

"Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed".

That's wise Balak seeking the service of reputed Balaam to come curse Israel for him. Why should another wake to the destruction of another? As it is here, Israel is Moab's threat and Balak, the King of Moab would see to it that Israel is taken out so it doesn't conquer her like it conquered other reported nations for which Moab fear.

What is a curse? It's a working unseen but which can manifest that becomes an entity - a demon for instance to rule in the affairs of the cursed. Balak couldn't naturally fight and conquer Israel because some nations have tried and failed. On that experimentation, and having heard of the supernatural victories of Israel, he also requested for a supernatural help that might help him subdue them. Why did he request Israel to be cursed? Because Israel is too powerful for him. Begin to think of someone you want to give a knock on the head but who is far taller than you. You need to reach his head and administer the knock but the odds are against you. He's taller than you while naturally you are shorter. You either need high heels to correspond or outgrow his height or you need him to stoop before you see his head available for such knock. Such was the case Balak and his nation fell into. By divine ordination and the sovereignty of God's covenant and blessings working with Israel, no nation could have them fought naturally like that and get them defeated. Having seen this to be true, Balak opted for a way of reducing them to a place of being won. Do you now understand what a curse does? A curse reduces what is tall to what becomes short. It is a curse that makes the invincible to become the vulnerable. Israel is invincible but in the situation room, Balak had gathered that after being cursed, Israel might not be so invincible. The likelihood and chances that she's conquerable would then be opened.

If you're blessed, you don't know what it means until the enemy tries you and they encounter a blockade. That blockade is what every wise enemy always want to remove. Until the removal of that shield of yours, you can't just be touched. Blessing places a "touch not" on you. We have properties that are protected by several things written on them. You'll read a thing like, "Don't enter here. Government's order etc". That simple statement protects that place from being a walkway of men.

A curse brings to a place of vulnerability where the strong becomes the weak and could therefore be handled and the will of the enemy carried out on him. Consider Samson, he was invincible until his source of strength was revealed. After then, he became vulnerable. His two eyes were gorged out and then made a grinder and clown for jests making. Imagine how lowly the strong could become. That secret Samson gave away made him the cursed. That's the purpose of anyone cursing you. It's to subdue you so that anything, anyone and even the least of life situation that others are shelling and defeating could defeat you notoriously. It's then you'll ask, "Why is mine hard? Why can't I do naturally what others are doing and achieving?" Behold, it is a curse. Today, I pray that you won't be weakened. Anything that has weakened you, you recover from such in Jesus name. Even behind you, may Jesus Christ advocate for you not to be cursed. May it be only said of you that, "You're blessed." I break the yoke of curses and the rod of it under which you've been subdued to servitude.

PRAYER: I refuse to be shrunk. Anything or word of man seeking to create a vulnerability in me to be conquered, I rebuke you.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

MAY OUR CHAMPION NOT FALL

I Samuel 17:51, KJV

"Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled".

Strike the shepherd, the sheep will scatter is indeed true. After the verbal exchange between Goliath and David, Goliath ran towards the battle line to confront the young lad whom he esteemed as a little rat.  "And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods" 1 Samuel  17:43.

David, who won't allow the words of Goliath to damp him also gave his response. It was first of all war of verbal exchange! When the Philistine drew near to him for battle, he didn't waste time but rather went up to meet him for battle. David releases a slingshot which hits the giant on his forehead. The stone sunk in and he fell to the ground. In absolute victory, David stood on the once giant giant and rejoiced over him. He then took the sword of this enemy of the Lord and Israel to cut off his head. This act proves the irreversibility of Goliath's death.

On seeing the fate of their champion sealed, the Philistines turned their backs and fled. But these were the Philistines that once stood like Mount Zion that can't be moved. Why should they turn around now? The simple truth is this. We all have who or what we put our confidence resolutely in. Once it fails or falls, we're vulnerable. If you'll remember, in afore verses, it was Goliath who was making a call for the adoption of one to one combat. He challenged Israel and echoed, "give me a man that we may fight...". For anyone to have made such request, he is in the first place not a warrior to confront. He was not only sure of himself but all the Philistines' souls rested perfectly well on him. "He had done it before. He'll do it again", they say. While he was saying, give me a man that we may fight and was setting the terms and conditions, all the Philistines were busy giggling, mocking Israel and relieving themselves of the worry of army to army combat. They had seen in him a chest to lean on. To them, Goliath whom anyone of us would regard as a villain was a mighty deliverer. Isn't that why the Bible repeatedly calls him, "a champion". Guess whose champion's. Of the Philistines. The defender of their nation. A great ambassador of all they embody. But something happen. Goliath of Gath, the giant that scares a whole army went down. In absolute victory and rejoicing unparalleled, David, the boy he least esteemed carried his head. To this, his followers responded with a swift race to escape death. If the shepherd has been struck, the sheep should look unto his ways.

That's why I pray for you that your champion won't fall. The one God has given you to rely on shall tarry. Your parents, that sibling, that spouse who's your joy, helper, burden bearer shall not suddenly be taken away from you. If it happens, one should get ready for many embarrassments. When my father passed on, those who were apprenticed or like servants to him who couldn't come out afore times were the ones proposing love to my mother. I was so embarrassed at one such event like that that my blood boiled with jealousy to go beat one of such men. What couldn't afflict the Philistines at the watch of Goliath while he was standing tall, did at his back. That's what I'm praying you'll be saved from in all facets. So shall it be. Your wall shall not break down. Your defence shall not be weakened. Though man of flesh has little days and is not Spirit as to be eternally trusted, yet I pray that until you can stand on your own and defend your integrity, those whom God has given as covers to you won't be removed. In Jesus name!

PRAYER: Goliath is useful and is the importance of the Philistines. He is their shield. A singular man that protects the national integrity. Make me so. Those you've made so to me, spare them Lord.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

BECAUSE IT IS YOUR SEASON

Read Psalm 1

Psalms 1:3, KJV

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

The righteous is like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season. What your gaze must be fixed on is _"that brings forth his fruits in his season."_ Do you know some things won't just yield unless their seasons come. If you know this, you'll quickly be hastened as a Christian to discern and separate between what you can accrue any time any day and what can only be received in its season.

There is a thing like " _the day, the time or the season_ ." If it is not the season for a leaf to fall off its branch, it won't fall unless you pluck it off. If it's not day for the sun to shine or night for the moon to peep out, you won't see either. Though they both wanted to be seen at the peak of their performances, yet they stick to the rule of their seasons. Season naturally calls you into manifestation even without your taking thought for it. That's why you have to pray that your season will come upon you. It is not age that determines season but the ordaining of God and how cooperative we are with God on our personal journey. Some by their own acts are delaying or postponing the ripening of their seasons though it has been afore fixed that they manifest or bring forth someday. Stop sinning, stop not putting preparation in place for the D-day.

If that tree bears fruits in its own season, the message is that you must bring forth at your season. It means some things must happen or be fulfilled upon you because of their time which has mature and is fixed. You're not destined not to be productive. You carry in you the seed that gives birth. That place says, "he brings forth HIS FRUIT in his season." Did you see? Some fruits were allotted to him. That is, whether he likes it or not, he must bring forth something which is his. God has destined you too to bring forth. Unless seasons come for some things, no matter how you try, you can't force result. If at your season, you however are not productive, then there's an attack and a curse of the devil hindering that. I break it off you in Jesus name. What did the Bible say here?

Psalms 102:13, KJV

"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come."

Why would God arise? ...because that fixed time has come. That's all. Nothing added and nothing removed. Singularly, that's the reason for God's coming through for Zion. Are you not Zion today? Your season has come. If it's your season for it to happen or be done, it means it can't be hindered because things must answer at their seasons. A law is there and an angel watches over your season to ensure that it is kept. You won't miss seasons! I pray for you, because your season has come, you'll be productive in your calling and career. You'll be favoured, sought after and things would happen for you faster and better than you've been labouring to make happen. Alas, the season has come upon you. Result can't be hindered again because the Law and the Lord of seasons are watching to perform to you in your season.

PRAYER: Lord, help me by early discovery not to miss seasons. Restore to me any missed season/opportunities. Watch over my season with jealousy for accomplishment of purpose.
