MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

AND SHE AROSE AT MIDNIGHT

I Kings 3:20, KJV

"And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom."

One thing that you must not lose is your sensitivity and structure. If it is out of place, a lot of things can be done in your surroundings without your smelling it. The devil can smuggle things into your life or out of it without you ever reasoning that this is the devil at work.

What the devil wants when he comes is to see everybody without any awareness of time. The devil wants everybody to be drunk and asleep. When you enter into a place with drunken or asleep people, you can carry out your intent without worrying about being disturbed, confronted or challenged. The devil likes that thing.

That's why the Bible says, "7 for they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation" (I Thessalonians 5:7-8 KJV).

While the context has to do with the rapture yet it fits my explanation because it all talks about cultivating awareness/knowing. There will be people who will not know but you shouldn't be in that class. You should be able to identify and tell of what time or season has come upon you.

Our verse of the day says, "and she arose at midnight and took my son from beside me while thine handmaid slept..."

Before we praise the recovery of this lady, we also have something to learn from her life. She slept off. She became unaware.

Mark the devil, he visits you when you have lowered your guards. He comes to steal, kill and destroy when you sleep. What the devil wants to collect is easily snatched then without challenge or fear of confrontation.

That woman confessed to it that the recovery she wanted wouldn't have been necessary if she had not slept the sleep of death. But she was well targeted. Instead of wearing the devil out, it was the devil that got the better of her.

The devil is always looking for an opportune time to strike or have his prey. The Bible says somewhere that, "sin is crouching at the door" (Gen.4:7). Later on, the Bible also says, "your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, crouches/walks about seeking whom to devour" (I Pet.5:8).

That tells you something of the devil. He's ever attentive and active on your matter, sniffing and sneaking around to see a slightly opened door in your life. That's why the Bible says he crouches at the door. When something "crouches", it lies in wait for its prey. Once its prey begins to come out of its shell, it'll immediately snap its neck. That's who the devil is.

Have you lost anything to him? What has he carried away from you? We appealed to God like that woman appealed to King Solomon and decree as with a sword of judgement that it should be restored unto you now. What are the practices, doctrines, images, items or confessions you have cultivated that had opened you to the devil? I awaken you to them in order to cancel them. I shut the door against the devil in your life and family. We pray for all fathers who are to be the strongest watchers that they'll not be deceived or found drunken and asleep. You're awake, aware and full of consciousness. You know what the time is and what it is designated for.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your deliverance and ministration.

REGURGITATIONS!

Genesis 48:7, KJV

"And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem."

Have you visited aged or very aged people before? If you're very patient and close to them, I'll say get ready for disclosures. You'll see memories speak.

I found out they often do one thing - they begin to regurgitate about their beginnings and past. At this time, there's rarely an iota of shame in them again. What they want to do is to help you see lessons that'll keep you from making their mistakes but attain their success.

But beyond this, why would they suddenly turn the rear mirror? Why would they begin to chant back memories and things of old? The reason is very simple. At old age, people become more reflective. They tend to count their victories and number their losses. It's like what every trader does after the day's trade at the market. Only that, they may not be able to make improvements except to pass their wisdom down. Especially if they are bedridden or near death, they spill everything out, connect the dots of their journeys, pick the most memorable and relevant memories and speak them as wisdom, family identity or values that should be followed.

One day, each and everyone of us would do so because we are promised long life and God's salvation. If you were to look back, what would you say? Do you know that your acts today will become your history tomorrow? The more reason why we have to be very careful of what we etch.

This actually happens to Jacob - otherwise known as Israel in the Bible. One tells Joseph that he is sick. Joseph goes with his sons to check on his father but he already nears death. Being on the bed probably because of sickness and old age, Jacob picks the summary of his journey. He tells Joseph of the landmark memories in his life.

He opens with the reaffirmation of the Abrahamic covenant by God to him. In his reference of Rachel, he reaffirms the love he had for her before Joseph and how she immaturely died by the way. For short, Jacob was saying, "I missed her. How I wished she was here to be part of this - to see her son and her greatness. Meanwhile, all is well." Then he proceeds to possess for himself Ephraim and Manasseh and blesses them. Later on, he blesses the tribes of Israel also.

A day will come when instead of pushing forward, we would revert backward. A time is coming when we'll near the end of our road. A time when we couldn't have gone further to make history but to thank God for the victories of the past, consider choices, reflect on our journeys and lives.

For everyone who wouldn't have rested, he would be mandated to rest then. For ones with covetous eyes, you can't but confess that you have seen it all and you're now satiated. When it's our time to recall memories, may we have made ones that'll assure us of peace in good conscience. At last, may you sleep in Christ, bearing in mind you need to be born again now.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to remember You now and to live in Your will and fear.

BE COMFORTED!

II Corinthians 12:9, KJV

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

At times, we mourn when we don't know what is for us. We may even get to a juncture where we cry, "alas master, what shall we do? (II Kings 6:15)" That is because we haven't seen what is for us. And just like Elisha told his servant, we also need God to open our eyes to what is God's provision for us. Until then, we'll never align with God, exercise faith or have our mountain made strong.

There are those who are mourning - crying and lamenting over one perceived weakness or the other. They are riddled with it and they know that unless the excellent power of Christ comes to rest on them, they can therefore do nothing. However, God is saying this morning for your comfort, "my strength is made perfect in your weakness." What that means is that my strength finds full expression when people don't know what to do, are limited by one thing or the other, look unto me for help and survival. It is at that time or instant that they have come to the end of themselves that my strength would go in to strengthen them.

My strength appreciates and expresses itself to the fullest in the lives of weak, desirous and surrendered vessels. If you ever want to see God, take the state or status of being weak. You'll see God use His full power on your behalf.

God is saying, "look away from your own perceived weakness and put your trust in Me. Look away from what should have made you yourself and let reliance solely rest on what I can do."

At such a point, there is no end to what I can do. God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. It is then, it can fully compensate for our shortcomings or problems and that is what is happening to some people today.

God is saying, you may be incapable but I am here to make you capable. Stop putting your attention on what is buffeting you or makes you inadequate. Rather, my strength is made perfect in your weakness. How can I best put it if not to give you assurance that God is attracted to your helplessness and weakness and He'll show Himself strong on your behalf. You know, if you want a vehicle to have a smooth travel, then let it journey on tiled roads. When the Lord says His strength is made perfect in your weakness, it means God works best when men think they are down and manifest strongly in glory by aiding or raising them up.

Stop mourning. What the devil meant for evil is being turned for good. What should have put your back to the ground is now the springboard by which God is doing the mighty. Say to yourself, "God's strength is made perfect in my weakness."

PRAYER: God's strength is made perfect in my weakness. Glorify yourself in me.

I SAY THEREFORE DREAM!

I SAY THEREFORE DREAM!

God names the sky your own;

Rise and make it your claim.

Fly your plane without a second thought of its being down;

The stars are all yours to name.

Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name;

Believe that ye have it.

Will it not be yours?

Are you thinking my thinking -

That all things are yours?

If He has not withheld His son from us,

Will he not with Him freely give us all things?

Aspire for the highest height!

Reach for the farthest mountain top!

God's own reaches are everywhere.

Does he not own the cattle on a thousand hills?

Dreamer, dream like water!

Blow into your balloon.

Describe to him how big you want it to be.

Enlarge it to the full of fullest,

And let Him bear you witness.

Look above you.

There's no ceiling on your head.

So, dream exorbitantly and outrageously.

All is at the expense of Someone we know

Exorbitant prices don't bother Him.

STRENGTH MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS

II Corinthians 12:9, KJV

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Do you believe that God's strength is made perfect in weakness? Are you really sure of that? When the Lord reply Paul that His strength is made perfect in weakness, God isn't joking or playing. As a matter of fact, God was also creating a spiritual principle. "He who will be helped must be weak and full of surrender." Helplessness always draws the attention of God. If you're strong, you don't need strength again. If you're full, you don't need to be poured into again. However, if you're needy, God will draw near to quickly refill you. Such like you will command what God has to give.

God tells Paul as a way of comforting him on the thorn in his flesh that He allowed, "my strength is made perfect in weakness."

Do you know what the word, "perfect" means there? It means my strength finds full expression in the lives of men who cannot do it themselves. Those are the people I seek to express myself through. Those are the people I seek to manifest through. Those are the people who cannot hinder what I want to do because they have their own ideas or preplanned activities. Weak vessels always take initiatives from God. Weak vessels don't depend on themselves or anything they have that seems to qualify them. Weak vessels don't trust in the arm of flesh. Rather, they take everything to God in prayer. Weak vessels understand their needs for God and what only He can do. They know their dependency is very much stated, leaning on Him. They know their state, status and estate.

How I wished you'll understand that verse. Despite the revelations that Paul had attained, God had to allow a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet him and make him look ordinary before people when they see him in his weakness. God allowed suffering in his life to keep him humble but more importantly so that he may come to rest and trust in God's power, help and only what He can do. That's why Paul himself says, "most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Did you see? Even in that weakness or infirmities, he acknowledges that the passport to God's power resting on him is first of all having a dependency on God - in this case, an infirmity that would make him need God and be tied to God.

But isn't it amazing that God's power is perfected or fully expressed in weakness and submitted vessels? The question now is what sort of vessel you are. Are you needy or full? Are you poor, disguising as rich? If you take the position of a vessel God can flow through, you'll see power that'll confound you and those who know you flow through you.

PRAYER: I see the purpose for the infirmities, weaknesses and vulnerabilities in my life. In my sickness, need and dependency, let your strength be fully expressed and experienced in all.

TAKE ALL THE GLORY!

TAKE ALL THE GLORY!

You see, we are far from each other.

You don't know where I am and I don't know where you are.

None of us can see the other nor are we watching each other.

Meanwhile, never become unfaithful.

Never backslide even when no eyes see you.

That came to my mind to share with us.

Afterwards, you'll need your faithfulness and integrity.

A call will come to call you.

Your service would be required.

But don't be caught living as a compromiser before then.

You might have waited till now.

You might have hoped for remembrance from those you trusted.

You might have pined for recommendation from certain men.

All might not have worked because the Lord wanted to be glorified.

When David killed Goliath. The Bible says, "and there was no sword in his hand" (I Sam. 17:50).

Why God has stripped you from all helps of men may be because the Lord wants to take the glory solely and doesn't want any man to reproach.

However, I'm hearing something concerning you - that your call will come.

The trumpet will blow for your sake and the gate and boulders shall be lifted for your sake.

Ancient doors shall be lifted!

The water is being troubled for your sake now. The cloud is dark, gathering.

I can sense all those and that's because something is about to happen.

Joseph's call came after much waiting. The King of the people sent and loosed him.

Psalms 105:19-21, KJV

"19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance..."

Yours is here. You'll be set loose and brought into a large place.

See it!

Receive it!

God's mouth has spoken and so shall it be.

So please, hold the fort both home and abroad.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

I AM WEAK BUT THOU ART MIGHTY

Judges 16:28, KJV

"And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes."

This verse brings a renewed memory of William Williams' hymn to my mind.

"Guide me, O my great Redeemer,

Pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but you are mighty;

Hold me with your powerful hand.

Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,

Feed me now and evermore..."

What is it like to be surrounded by the enemy? What is it like to stay and live in weakness? What is it to have the Holy Spirit out of one's life? What is it to be natural instead of being supernatural? What is it to have become impotent and disarmed instead of being effective and dangerous?

One at such time becomes a toy on the playground of the enemy. Samson actually gets here.

Judges 16:25, KJV

"And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars."

Did you see that? How are the mighty fallen? How's Samson reduced to a mere comedian? How's Samson made nonsense of? Here's a hero and fighter who strikes fear to the enemy's heart. Now, he's an object of derision.

I guess he himself reaches a place of disgust and embarrassment. A place where he experiences his own devaluation first hand. He concurs that it's better to be Samson, the conqueror than the victim. The experience of Samson is such a fall from grace and he would desire not to have his life ended in disgrace. He would want revenge at least!

So, he returns to God. He'll rather crouch at God's doorsteps and trust to defy the enemy. On this note, Samson pleads that God will strengthen him once more. How true this is?

"We are weak but God is mighty." He needs to hold us with His mighty hand. We need to be armed. Weakness can do nothing. The arm of flesh will forever remain feeble. It can only appeal to the flesh, not the spirit. Weakness cannot do the work of the spirit. You need to be armed. You need to be clothed. You need to be wrapped and enveloped by a power greater than you.

Samson knows what it means to seek for strength. He knows he doesn't have that to give. He knows whence it comes from and now he has turned there. Strength can make you run and not weary. When you are strengthened, you actually super-perform. A man that is strengthened is he who could go the extra mile. A man that is strengthened is he who could run with chariots and outrun it. How? Because God's hand has come on him (I Kings 18:46).

When you're strengthened, you're inoculated to out perform. God's anointing is a strength enhancer. Where have you lost the anointing? May you be replenished this morning. May your cup be filled to its brim. May weakness disappear from your spirit, soul and body. May you become active and potent where you've been weak and incapacitated. May strength frees you into God's glorious liberty of performing.

Are you sick or diseased? Are you hindered one way or the other from mobility? I declare, "receive strength!" Walk and begin to do everything that you couldn't do before.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for strengthening me. Thank you for the ability and new capacities.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

FEELING HIS ABSENCE

Psalms 22:1, KJV

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"

Have you ever been forsaken before? Take for instance a child who's being dropped in school on her first day. How would she feel? She'll feel forsaken. She wouldn't want to stay. She would want to go back with you. She's not used to those stand-in parents. She'll therefore cry for you.

However, you have to smother your emotions to let her be. That happened to Jesus. There was a time God had to let Him be. God had to let Him learn obedience by the things He suffered. That time wasn't good on Jesus. He Himself felt what it meant to be forsaken or jettisoned. He knew what it meant to pray and have God turned deaf ears to it. All for the redemption of humanity.

Jesus cried, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34).

"My God, my God" shows He has a personal relationship with God, the Father. God is His God - His Father. But now, Jesus is crying and lamenting the absence of His Father. Like I said yesterday, once the Lord withdraws, you'll feel His absence. When the Spirit left Samson, though presumptuous, yet he couldn't perform like before. He therefore became touchable.

"Why hast thou forsaken me?" This is a deep, painful and desirous lamentation to have God near. When what you expect isn't falling through, you may raise a roar even like Jesus wondering why you've been forsaken. This shows how important the God factor is to us. We are feeble and easily breakable without Him.

And indeed, we can't do life alone. We need the fourth man in the furnace to join us. We need the accompaniment of the Holy Spirit. Else, we also might cry, "my God, my God, why hast you forsaken me?"

When you need God, may He be near. May we not be forsaken. Samson knows this and pleads with God to return to him and strengthen him that once. He used to know how it felt being with the Lord but it had been awhile since he felt or experienced Him. In short, the Lord was rare to come by. The Lord had left him at the moment he needed God because of his own disobedience. May your own disobedience not cost you. May the Lord not be far from you and you from the Lord. When you cry, may He hear your voice and grant you deliverance from on high.

PRAYER: Close to Thee Lord. No wandering from You. At the moment of silence, may I not sink.

A LONG HOLIDAY WITHOUT HIM

Judges 16:20, KJV

"And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him."

How many of you have been on a long holiday without the Holy Spirit? You may not know what it means to be without the Holy Spirit until you are out of tune or relationship with Him. When you have suffered lack of intimacy, guidance or the leading that he offers and the joy that he gives to keep you going when things are rugged, you'll then esteem for once why it's very very important not to be missing in relationship/fellowship with God.

What can we do without him? The Bible says, "in him we move, live and have our being"(Acts 17:28). If it's in him all things consist but he's no longer available to keep it together, don't you think losing it will step in.

Asking Samson would do. Samson can tell us why we must not lose God. Samson can offer us pages of admonishments and the dangers that follow losing the Holy Spirit. You literally are alone! When the Spirit leaves you and you're alone, only then could you appreciate the Lord for His works in you and with you while your relationship persists with Him.

When relationship is broken or fellowship is not consistent and you don't feel or sense the Lord as usual, you may be having a taste of what it means being without the Lord (not because he is still not yours). It may just be that he is silent. It is not good if the Lord leaves any man even for a minute. Even Jesus cried, "why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). I tell you that you're vulnerable and could be exploited for that minute. If he leaves, you lose a defence and your personal encourager.

No wonder Samson prayed that the Lord would return to him once more. He prayed earnestly because he had learnt by experience what it meant to have gone without God being on one's side. One basically becomes a 'sportsman' - a toiling or mocking object. It's like a man of skills who has now lost all his skills. He can't but be taken for granted and used for less honourable things. It's unfortunate when salt loses its savour. The Bible says it is no longer useful but to be trodden of men or disposed of. Samson tasted this first hand as he grounded in the mills and ran useless errands only meant for puppets but which are now forced on him because he has lost the anointing. He therefore prayed earnestly. You could see his yearnings in that request of his.

Judges 16:28, KJV

"And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes."

Only at such times can you appreciate what it means for the Lord to be with you twenty four hours. Losing Him or a sense of Him gives nobody assurance but rather makes a vulnerable man or woman. On this note, seek to always have the Lord close. Let nothing affect your relationship with Him. Let fellowship be intimate, daily and often and the Lord will be close always and always. I pray for God's return to you. Where have you lost the Holy Spirit, as you ask for God's mercy and seek His face, you're also having His return now. May the Lord strengthen you once again.

PRAYER: Lord, strengthen me once again. I am weak but thou art mighty.

THURSDAY - 4TH JUNE, 2026

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

IT IS THE SERPENT THAT BEGUILED ME

Genesis 3:13, KJV

"And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."

An incident that happened some years ago came to mind. I did something that wasn't very good and my heart judged me. I was convicted. Before then however, I was absolving myself. I caught myself giving excuses. Then the Spirit cut me quit.

It was as sharp as a parent rebuking his son. What the Lord brought to my mind was Genesis 3:13 and immediately, I stopped in my tracks, stopped the excuses and took responsibility.

There are those who shift blames. There are those who if you allow will keep giving excuses. They know what they are doing. They only want to humour the situation from appearing less serious than it is and appease their own guiltiness. For that reason, they'll rather make a scape goat of another and not themselves.

That is irresponsibility of a sort. We must be frank with ourselves and must be willing to take the blame where we are wrong. Denial does nobody any good. What you deny, you'll live in its oblivion. Since it's not existing before you, you'll never take it seriously let alone seek to amend your ways on it. You'll call yourself alright. Whereas, you're sick, needing a doctor.

I'm writing to parents also. God wants you to teach your wards responsibility. Someone who has mastered responsibility is also very accountable. When they are wrong and are approached to give an account, they quickly prostrate and accept the blame. This is one of the traits that reveals the humble heart of David. He doesn't argue or go into arguing when he is wrong. As soon as he sees it, he humbles himself. He feels truly sorry.

This is the heart we should all cultivate and instill in our children. Take no for an answer when something happens with the participation of your kid in what went wrong. God asked Eve, "what is this that you have done?" Eve is obviously afraid. She could only reply, "the serpent beguiled me and I did eat." In essence, she wanted the serpent to be treated as the culprit.

In other words, Eve successfully gave an excuse. She shifted the bulk on the serpent. In truth, she was taking a cue from Adam. Before time, Adam had fallen into this same pit. When God asked, "Have you eaten of the tree which I commanded you not to eat of?" His response was, "the woman which you gave to me gave me the fruit and I ate." Both of them looked for ways to relieve their offence and make it look less than it appears. They pointed elsewhere. They didn't claim their mistakes. They didn't apologize. They didn't fall on their faces or become sorrowful at heart, seeking mercy. Rather, they all put up a defence as if they could win the Almighty!

This same trait is in all of us. It is in me and it is in you. I want to believe it'll be in your kids also. However, you must teach them to live above it and not succumb to it when they stumble. Putting up a defence doesn't solve what you undeniably participated in. Adam, Eve and the serpent all received just recompense for their defiance or cunning. Someone who keeps arguing in his heart that he wouldn't have done it if not that he was seduced hasn't taken responsibility yet. He hasn't come to the realization that he actually made a mistake. Irrespective of who prompted him on, if the case gets to court, he'll face the wrath of the law for rape, burglar, slander, libel or whatever he did wrong.

Let us stop saying it was Satan that beguiled us whenever we slipped. This accusation will put us in relief mode to keep thinking of ourselves as inherently good when we need help. Sure, Satan could have done that. But everything is not always Satan. At times, it is our own lust. Your own fleshly desires. The Bible says, "then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death" (James 1:15, KJV). That's why it's important to think of things above so you don't fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Unless you hearken to this, you may do otherwise.

The Bible says, "and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

You see, that is the lust of the eyes/flesh that got her. Did the serpent come to her? Yes! But she also played a role. Her role is what made it possible for the serpent to have a hand. If she had rebuked the serpent, it would have left to come back at another occasion.

So whenever you help Satan to have a hand, you at all cannot be absolved. You're a co-participant and you should be ready to have your rebuke meted to you. So, stop the blame game and accept the role you played in landing that unfortunate outcome. Apologize and seek God's forgiveness for it and seek to act differently and become better next time.

So parents, don't let anyone veil your eyes with what looks like genuine excuses. If that boy or girl at home was a co-participant, please don't spare him/her. Let him or her give accounts. Deal with them! It is robbery and an act of dubiousness to blame everything on the serpent saying, "the serpent beguiled (enchanted, seduced, confused, cast a spell on you) which made you sin. Stop blaming your parents, siblings etc. The part you play is the most critical. So, let me ask, what part have you been playing? Good or bad?

PRAYER: Lord, help me not to assist the flesh against myself. I shall not fall under the seduction of Satan or the world.

DREAMER, DREAM DREAMS!

DREAMER, DREAM DREAMS!

Don't stop being a dreamer! What would we have been without dreams?

Without dreams, life will be unstimulating.

Without dreams, life will look scorched and unripened.

Without dreams, it'll look as if you have no life and you aren't living.

Even with dreams that are still in incubation, you'll feel rigorous, able and empowered - filled with the visions of tomorrow.

I know something that can inflate you with hope.

It is DREAMS!

When you are full of them, you'll not be tired easily when the roads are rough. You'll rather mount up with wings as eagles - always having renewed strength for every new day.

It is those without dreams that give up.

It is those without dreams or that let it go that eventually get frustrated - saying, "I have no man to help me into the water."

When you have dreams and you hold onto your dreams, your dreams will become a force, pulling the necessary people and resources towards you in no time.

It'll look as if heaven and earth just came together to just manufacture such tailored help for you.

That's to the man with dreams - big dreams that fills him with rigour, vitality and strength to attack the new day.

Look, if your dreams don't die, you won't.

If dreams still breathe and leap in you, you also will display excitement in your daily life.

Watch those without joy and hope.

Their dreams are dead. They have nothing to expect or hope for.

But I guess that's not you.

Therefore dream!

Dream of the days to come.

The tomorrow that you haven't seen.

The future that'll pay you off.

Dream of all the goodies and welfare you desire.

There's a power outworking in you that can do it.

Ephesians 3:20, KJV

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us..."

Let us make that verse to read like this:

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or dream (think)..."

Mark the word, "think."

When you do, you actually DREAM!

Dream!

Go on and dream today.

Think of things.

Think of things that should be... and they'll be.

The dreamer will have his dreams!

I say it again, "you'll have what you think on."

Don't you know that?

You should know there's a power working in you. It is God's to bring to pass your conceptions.

Don't stop dreaming.

When you dream, you already figure out the infrastructures that should be.

You already see the days to come that will come.

And then, your body will come under its spell - to actualize it and be that thing.

Don't stop dreaming buddy.

There's hope for a tree that's cut down. If its stump is still in the earth, it'll sprout up again.

Just at the scent of water!

WEDNESDAY - 3RD JUNE, 2026

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Olusola & Oreoluwa ADEJUMO

AM I NOT ABLE TO PROMOTE YOU TO HONOUR INDEED?

Numbers 22:37, KJV

"And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?"

May you not come under pressure. When you come under pressure to survive or be accepted of people, then it'll be of no consequence to you agreeing to calls that come from Balaks. May you also not love the reward of iniquity. There's nobody who doesn't fall by it.

You know the story. Balak would love Balaam to curse Israel so that he might be able to subdue them. That tells you something about what curses do. It subdues and shrinks spiritually so that the enemy might have an upper hand physically. This is exactly Balak's plan. However, God would not consent. When God came down to Balaam, His response to him was, "Who are these people with you? You shall not go with them. You must not curse the people because they are blessed" (Numbers 22:9,12).

This is how God defended the portion of Israel. Israel was not there to speak for himself but God did defend him. This is how God fights your battle behind you.

However, Balaam would want to go. It shows in how he falsely sought to twist God's hands until he secured His permissive will to go. Even when God obstructed him with the angel with the fiery sword, he still didn't fear nor run away for dear life when the ass spoke. Why? His heart has become seared. Through that repeated disobedience, his conscience has become callous and more deadened. His eyes were on the promised rewards. He was in pursuit of that. Meanwhile, God eventually allowed him to have his wishes on the ground that he would only speak for Him.

But beyond all these, something innate is in Balaam that sincerely wanted to do what Balak asked for. He wanted to prove himself to Balak. He sincerely wanted to curse Israel; only that God obstructed him repeatedly (Numbers 23).

It is upon his meeting with Balak after several delays that the utterance we've been considering, "am I not able to promote you to honour indeed" was spoken?

And that's exactly why Balaam had been giving attention to come. When Balak sent his second errand to him; he bid them to woo him with these enticing words.

Numbers 22:17, KJV

"For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people."

You see! It is that Balak reinforces when they meet by questioning, "am I not able to promote you indeed to honour?"

Any honour that doesn't come from God should not satisfy you. You shouldn't receive any honour in ministry, business or life that'll make you guilty at heart or one that always looks over his shoulders. Any help not coming from above cannot do you good in the long run. Don't come under the pressure to perform or be in the good book of anyone. Don't be a puppet to people - one who can be swung to perform just by the promises of great rewards. You are not a Balaam! Your needs are supplied and met by the living God! Yahweh Jireh!

You are God's child! You are God's minister! You are called to an obedient life. Any honour that God is not doing you isn't worth it. No God's honour will put you under pressure or have attached strings. Every honour that wants a commitment from you before disbursal isn't really an honour but a trap! Such will actually be to your downfall especially where God has expressly warned against it. Flee! Flee from it!

PRAYER: Lord, in this rapid and current moving life where hardship is everywhere, may I not remove my anchor from You! I shall not be enticed by the rewards of iniquity.

THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD

THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD

Let us talk about "The acceptable year of the Lord." Have you heard of that before? There's something like that. There's an acceptable year of the Lord. Those who discern it can take its handle, launch by it and benefit from what it brings.

May we not be without whistle blowers in this life. That's why God sets prophets in the body of Christ. They declare seasons upon people as God desires to bring it on them. Prophets are hearers and whistle blowers on what God wants to do. They hear and they declare. They perceive and they proclaim.

Eccl.11:1-2, KJV

"1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth."

Who would tell us that a season like the one above has come upon us? How do we know that it is time for us to cast our bread upon the waters? Else, we cannot have change of behavior/attitude. The reason is because sowing also cannot just be done. There's a season for sowing. There's a time when sowing is done and it will guarantee bountiful harvest or return. Only God can proclaim that time into existence for people to mark, join its move and then have results according to what God has declared.

Let's look at Isaiah 61:1-2.

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn."

There are certain parts of these verses that appeal to what the Lord is saying I should say. Let's cut and bring them out.

First is the tail end of verse 1 that says, "To proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound."

Did it surprise you that the greatest anointed man (Jesus) that ever walked this earth had this as His function/manifestation. He proclaimed liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that were bound.

His declaration was a spirit declaration that created the realities of people. At declaring, people were healed. At declaring, people who had been captives of the devil found freedom and immediately were able to do what they couldn't do before. However, it all started with declaring their liberty and speaking it forth.

In verse 2, the Bible speaks further of the manifestation of the anointing on Jesus - "To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn."

Any anointed man like one walking in the footsteps of his Master - Jesus also has been given to declare, "The acceptable year of the Lord." According to NLT, that place is written as, "He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favour has come."

Now, what happens when someone sent of God declares a season which has come upon the world. Realistically, he'll be creating for them an entrance and access into that season. Things might have been difficult for them but it is only till then. They might not have been able to get married till then but it is only until that declaration. They might not have been able to conceive but it is only until then.

Once God's Word comes out or goes forth declaring the acceptable year of the Lord in any aspect, that thing immediately becomes possible for the people it is being declared to.

That word that has been declared will as a matter of fact open a new season for them and usher them into that same new season. Because it is therefore a new season, they can therefore begin to have new experiences that they've never had before. That new season and new experience is therefore brought about because God's mouth has said it.

Look at this place.

Acts 3:6-8, KJV

"6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God."

Something happened here when Peter made a proclamation - a lameman stood up and walked. Peter said, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

That was the declaration. Peter however held him to stir his faith and give him a push. Immediately [following that declaration], the Bible says, "And immediately, his feet and ankle bones received strength."

That's what happens when God proclaims a word. He goes about creating it. That word therefore brings about or creates a new season, new experience and contact for those needing it. Their situation might not have looked like it but once God gives a word, it at once turns their previous situations around into a newly created and predicted one of God.

This is why God needs mouths with which to proclaim "The acceptable year of the Lord" which NLT calls, "the time of the Lord's favour."

Until such declarations are released, you'll be shocked to still see nothing change for people. People can continue in struggle from generation to generation until this year of jubilee and God's favour is declared into effect.

Leviticus 25:10 (KJV)

"And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family."

Until there's a proclamation setting people at liberty and opening prison doors to the bounds, people can't but continue in the region and under the shadow of darkness. Things will continue the way it is until the declaration of those who own it or needs it come. That's why nothing has changed of many people's situations till now. It's because they are in the hold of the devil and they need God's anointing to break them free. But even that is not forthcoming because God's Word is scarce and there are no prophets in the land. So, the devil continues to maruade them since there's no one found of God to proclaim their liberty, the acceptable year of the Lord or the day of God's vengeance on their enemies.

Jesus knows this which is why when He went around, He did one thing which fulfilled what the prophet had said.

Matthew 4:13-16, KJV

"13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up."

Look at what the Bible is proclaiming concerning Jesus. Jesus' relocation to that place means, "the people which sat in darkness are seeing light and those in the region and shadow of death light is sprung or has come."

There are seasons in the spirit and God's oracles are the ones meant to bring it about. They are God's mouthpieces to announce and make those seasons known to God's inheritance. Therefore, it is not all preachers who declare new seasons in a new month, week or as often as the Holy Spirit brings it to them that are incorrect. Many pseudo ministers might have bastardized this act of proclaiming what God will do but God often do give His words indeed in order to usher people into their new seasons by giving them leverage for manifestation through His own spoken words.

However, that's not all God said His ministers are anointed to do. Just like they are armed to declare "God's favoured time" on people, they are also equipped and could bring forth God's judgement upon nations and people. That's what KJV calls, "and the day of vengeance of our God..." NLT calls it, "and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies."

This part is no lie. If you have unrepentant enemies, we know their end. It cannot be good because judgement will always visit them. That part also foreshadows the judgement that will come on those who fail to believe in Jesus at His second appearing which is why Jesus didn't mention it when He said in the NT that, "Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Luke 4:18, KJV

"18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."

Observe that Jesus only ended His own quotation at, "To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." That is because that was what the Lord was doing on the earth then. He had not come to condemn anyone (John 3:17). Rather, He came to do good (Acts 10:38). He came to heal, cure, recover, restore and bless.

That was the season Jesus was in at His first coming into the world. He was sent to bring salvation and bring the good news to people.

However, that season would end one day. It will end effectively at His second appearance. That's when, "The day of vengeance of our God" would begin effectively on the unrepentant and the unbelieving.

So, even Jesus knew that these prophecies of Isaiah are seasonal. So, in the first phase, He proclaimed the acceptable year of the Lord while He Himself awaits "the day of vengeance of our God."

I see a new heaven and a new earth! I see a new season upon you. God speaking of Adam says, "It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helpmeet suitable for him" (Gen.2:18). In essence, God declared the closure of a season over Adam and the opening of another.

Revelation 21:1-2, KJV

"1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."

Say, "the first heaven and the first earth have passed away in my life and there is no more sea."

Old reproaches are being rolled away. The Bible says, "...old things have passed away, behold all things have become new" (II Cor. 5:17).

A new man you are with new experiences! Have you not been able to find a marriageable person consequent upon the hindrances and workings of the devil against you? I see a new heaven over you!

All things are new for you! Your 'flesh' or whatsoever that might symbolize is being restored unto you as that of a new born baby now (II Kings 5:14, 10).

So shall it be! I declare your liberty, your acceptable year of the Lord and the day of the vengeance of our God (on your pursuing, unrepentant enemy). As for you, flourish and find establishment in this new season that has come.

DEDICATED TO ENQUIRY

Psalms 27:4, KJV

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple."

When the essence of life is discovered and its revelation becomes your life, then you won't have difficulty chasing after enquiries all the days of your life. Enquiry is a life long pursuit. That's why the Psalmist says, "one thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after..."

When he says, "that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life", he reinforces his saying on what he desires from the Lord. As we speak, there are scientists in the lab, maybe people in space, shuttles in the oceans and many endeavors ongoing to find out knowledge, fix one problem or find out a more appropriate way by which something could be done.

Just like I said yesterday, such people have grown beyond the pursuit of food or material gains. Rather, they have shifted to purpose and now put their focus on making their world a better place to live. They have found who they are - knowing their own life's purposes and now, they are giving themselves to it. Some are locked up for days in the lab, research centers just because they wanted to find out for their world cures to certain diseases or functions. These people have overcome the human covetousness of I want to be rich, famous and accumulate all the wealth there is. That may eventually happen to them as they serve and give their lives to discovery - bringing new cures and inventions. However, it is not their primary target.

Another thing that has aided them is external funding for research. Therefore, they've been able to concentrate on discovering a new layer of knowledge. This is another helpful way by which they are kept from not thinking of food and clothing let alone pursuing it unrelentlessly like others out there.

They may not be rich but they are not insecure, restless and full of frets like many. Therefore, they are able to "do only one thing, seeking after the same."

The word for enquiry that we began considering yesterday carries meanings such as "to inquire, to seek diligently, to investigate, to meditate upon, to consider carefully, to search out thoughtfully."

These are all the functions that people who are given to inquiry are given to. They are asking questions in order to know. That is probing. If you see what their thoughts and meditations are centred on, you'll be shocked it's on finding answers for humanity day and night.

The Bible says this.

James 3:7, KJV

"For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind."

This verse chronicles the achievement of a certain generation which over and over some other generations have worked on. Have you asked yourself how the earlier man tamed and domesticated wild horses, using it for transport, races and war? Dolphins are creatures of the sea yet man has made an incredible thing out of them. From acrobats to performances that surprise and tickle the fancy of men, these fishes have been tamed and trained to surreal viewers.

Someone or some people made those discoveries. They did the taming so that all of us could benefit and enjoy what comes from having tamed their natural raw power or abilities. This is how our world becomes a better place to live when discoveries and researches are done. Enquiries haven't stopped. Rather, it continues.

PRAYER: Open thou my lips and I will ask questions. Quicken my heart to enquiry.

AND TO ENQUIRE IN HIS TEMPLE

Psalms 27:4, KJV

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple."

I asked a question yesterday, "If man had all his needs met (put yourself in the cockpit of that question), what would be his next pursuit?"

Many of us are only existing, we've not been living. We would not know this until we answered that question. The Bible says, "And having food and raiment let us be therewith content." What if you have assurance of money, food and whatsoever you could think of very enough, what other races would your pursuits be all about?

The difference between advanced nations and the developing ones is that one has discovered the purpose of life and is living it while the other is still grappling with meeting of their basic needs. Nobody is rejecting food, shelter, clothing or security. They are all fundamental human needs. However, if you're only occupied with them and absorbed by them, I tell you, you will never have time or time enough at hand to explore your world, ask questions on life, God, justice, beauty and answer them for your world to see.

When God created man, He created him to be an enquirer. I believe you know that God would often come to commune with man in the cool of the day. Man fulfills that verse we're considering through fellowship. The Bible says, "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple."

That place says, "...that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life..." This happened to Adam. He stayed before the Lord's presence. He enjoyed God's beauty. He inquired, explored in God and found answers.

Let's talk. When the Psalmist says, "...to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple", what do you think it means? Pay attention to the word, "enquire." Do you know what it means? It is the Hebrew word, "baqar."

It carries meanings such as to inquire, to seek diligently, to investigate, to meditate upon, to consider carefully, to search out thoughtfully."

I'll like to pick the last interpretation we have there - "to search out thoughtfully." Searching out thoughtfully is not only what a meditative heart does in/before God. Without a heart to search out, man wouldn't have advanced in every endeavour. Think of everything that has made life easier for you, from domestic tools to industrial gadgets and machineries. They are products of the "enquiries" of some people. Think of invention and human travels to other planets like man's ongoing plan to colonise Mars, it was possible because man is an inquirer. The Sciences, Art and every endeavour you know has prospered because men enquired, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and discovering new things. These are the things that led to medical or technological breakthroughs. All because people enquired. Enquirers are thinkers, deep meditators and researchers. It is the products of their quiet concentration in the lab, in space, in the academia that leads to the published bodies of knowledge that we now enjoy or have in books. Think of a movie that you contemplate on as you watched or a novel or poem that is written to elicit human behavior and realities. All those are products of people's enquiries. They were found because they were sought. God didn't create man to stay at the level of food only. Speaking, the Bible says, "Is life not more than bread and the body than clothing? - Luke 12:23. If the Psalmist got to a place where his aspiration, his utmost pursuit became dwelling in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to enquire in His temple, then we're been challenged on why we would only settle at the basic human needs levels?

I made a statement earlier that a developing nation is in trouble. When a nation by bad government, civil war or terrorism is reduced to a broken one that has no ample time to search out knowledge or the world around her, they are kept stuck from developing! They will never fulfill their true potential. There will be yearnings inside of them but since they haven't put food on the table first of all, they cannot practically go in that direction. Developed nations make searches! Undeveloped ones even if it's not by their design only busy with what to eat and drink. So, they never left that threshold.

Brethren, do you want to become great, tangible beyond this world, leaving a legacy behind? Then, define for yourself what success is. It is not the accumulation of money or making millions. It is not until you have all your needs met or have every latest thing that makes life comfortable. Real success is at the level of enquiry where you contribute to your world as a producer and not an ordinary consumer. Would you from this day begin to contemplate and search out? Or you'll leave the task of finding out, inventing and creating to certain people only?

DELIVERANCE FROM SIX-SEVEN TROUBLES

Job 5:19, KJV

"He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee."

We thank God for His deliverance. It is this work that He does and has done for us that has kept us alive.

If not for God's deliverance (or salvation), how should we have continued till now? The Bible says, "With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation" (Psalms  91:16, KJV).

The salvation mentioned here translates "deliverance." We have therefore continued till now and have hope of long Life because God will not stop showing us His salvation.

Our body can become sick unto death but if it is recovered and we're restored, that would be being delivered from trouble. This way, one can't but have long life irrespective of what he enters into or faces.

Our verse of the day in Job says, "He shall deliver you from six troubles and in seven, there shall no evil touch you."

That place is assuring you of salvation quietly but assuredly. When counting it, troubles can come. They can occur in their varieties or phases. "Seven" as used there talks of completion - describing to perfection the generality of evils that can befall any man. Yet it says, "There shall no evil touch you."

The reason is simple. It is because of God's work or better still His deliverance. God often does step in to redeem us from trouble.

When the Bible says, "On their hands they'll bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone" (Psalm 91:12); it talks of divine stepping in. It talks of God's emissaries sent of Him to do the work of aiding you - bearing you up lest you fall. It means without their stepping in, redeeming you or bringing you immediate aid, you might find yourself at the rock bottom of the pit, fallen and scattered.

They had to "bear you up" because you were coming down previously. If by urgency, they do not attend to you, God forbid, may we not have a testimony of your soul being left in hades.

Therefore I pray that in six or seven troubles, God will save you. In marital crisis, court cases, economic trouble etc, God will bring you out. Even in betrayal, famine, war, drought, pestilence, you shall be borne up. You won't touch the ground!

PRAYER: I will not touch the earth (ground). I am borne up.

WHAT SHALL BE ON THE MORROW

James 4:13-14, KJV

"13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."

God would want me to ask you. Do you know what shall be on the morrow? Do you have an inkling, glimpse, hint and insight into what your world and the global stage might hold tomorrow? Can you forecast it? Can you predict it? Have you seen it all?

No matter your professionalism and the kind of accuracy you choose to profess, I believe you don't know what tomorrow holds except it's granted to you. Nobody actually knows what tomorrow holds is a true saying. That's because instability could rock when we anticipate peace and peace can be maintained when we anticipate destabilization. That's why that Bible verse says, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow...even your life can be taken." That saying is to those who are boastfully speaking, "They shall do this and that - be in that city or that other one without acknowledging God in their thinking." This is not about not taking thought to plan but rather it is the exclusion of acknowledging God in one's plans.

Speaking of not knowing what might happen tomorrow as that passage says, I'll have us look at Elisha and the sons of the prophets. They suggested enlarging where they dwell. Elisha wouldn't have followed them until someone had asked that he should be pleased to follow them. They never anticipated that something would go wrong. In all their futuristic plans, they couldn't have known that someone's axe head would be lost in the water. Even the axe head was borrowed. What if Elisha had not been asked to follow? What if they had acted unilaterally all alone without acknowledging God in his life?

II Kings 6:5, KJV

"But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed."

Rather the Bible is teaching us humility and acknowledgement of the divine. Instead of boastful railings, it says, "But ye ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that."

This last verse should communicate something deeper to us. Our life depends on God. He even controls what we're able to do. Your existence tomorrow is not even guaranteed. It depends on God. This is a direct challenge to human confidence and independence.

"If the Lord wills" is not a mere confession. It is rather the posture of your heart. It is a constant awareness that God decides and not you. Look at the Bible.

Psalm 37:5

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."

Another place says in Proverbs 21:31, "The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD" (KJV).

Human responsibility is key but divine sovereignty cannot be forfeited. May you have the heart that acknowledges God in all his ways. May you always remember your Creator even in the tiniest details of your life.

PRAYER: May this awareness be in me that you're the Lord. Therefore, let your name be glorified.

RESILIENCE!

Ecclesiastes 4:12, KJV

"And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken."

I once talked about building a multilayered system into one's life. When you do, you can endure, withstand and defend against collapse. When the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 11:2, "Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth", what the Bible is teaching us is resilience.

A man who has shares or investment in one organization only still doesn't have economic resilience. A man who only has one stream of income hasn't built resilience either. Resilience is if the brook dries up, do you have a widow of Zarephath as another stream of income that can feed you and family for many days. Continuity and survival is why we build resilience. Resilience comes from building a multidimensional system so that one can kickstart as soon as the other(s) fails. This way, you can never crash or experience disappointment. Rather, you'll always be borne up instead of dashing your foot on a stone. Instead of being disgraced and broken, you'll rather receive aid and intervention from where else you have sown and invested something in your days of abundance.

That is building resilience. It is moulding a system that will ensure your continuity even when collapses begin - irrespective of what type it is. The dictionary has defined the word "resilience" in a number of ways. Let's see some. "The physical property of material that can resume its shape after being stretched or deformed; elasticity."

"The positive capacity of an organizational system or company to adapt and return to equilibrium after a crisis, failure or any kind of disruption, including: an outage, natural disasters, man-made disasters, terrorism, or similar (particularly IT systems, archives).

"The capacity to resist destruction or defeat, especially when under extreme pressure."

All those three definitions explain something great about resilience - the life that can persist and not collapse when besieged on all sides. The Bible verse for today says, "And if one prevails against him, two shall withstand him..."

This part begins to show us the importance of building an anti-fragility system. Brittleness will collapse and cannot withstand. We all know that one man can easily get beaten up or bullied. But when they are two, they can easily stand against their bully and defend against him. That is the importance of not being alone but more importantly, building resilience. That second layer (second person) that is added to yourself is your layer for resilience. Then, the Bible takes it further by saying, "A threefold cord is not easily broken..."

People have mostly applied this to couples in marriage and God as the third cord. We may not debate that but that verse is only telling us an obvious truth. If you weave a yearn of three threads together, how easily snapped are they? It'll be hard to snap them. That's because each of the yearns serves as a buffer and aid to the other from being broken. So, resilience is actively being portrayed in that. In the face of pressure, you'll continue because you're not alone but are in a working relationship where partners who can help you bounce back and continue when crisis strikes.

A single tree doesn't make a forest. You can't have a poem in an anthology. In building any system that will resist collapse and defend against it, it must be a multilayered system - woven together to stand in unison to defend against pressure or crisis. Let me show you what it's like to build such a thorough system that doesn't fail or allow any defeat.

I Kings 19:15-17, KJV

"15 And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay."

These verses are about God's coming judgement. The "sword" is symbolic of judgement. At this time, Israel had gone deep into idolatry under Ahab and Jezebel and God is seeking to do a cleansing - a deep one.

Hazael symbolizes the external pressure (war from Syria). Jehu is an internal military (he overthrew Ahab’s house violently). Elisha is the prophetic authority (God’s word exposing and confronting sin).

Together, they form a kind of complete system, like a net no one can slip through. If anyone in rebellion or idolatry escapes the judgement the first one brings, they can't possibly escape the second 'sword' but if that still happens, the third set-up will deliver and implement the will of God.

That is building a system that can endure, keep continuity and performance of its purpose no matter what comes. God wants you to build this kind of buffering system into your life. When you build it spiritually (having spiritual partners), financially (having streams of income) and in other needful areas, what will break you will be tired out. You can then always win or endure until aid comes!

PRAYER: Lord, show me critical relationships to sharpen for resilience. Teach me the company of wealth and its building.
