MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

THE EXPLORER AND THE IN DWELLER

Genesis 25:27,KJV

" And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents."

The fact that we all can't be a thing is being emphasized here again. Esau is a cunning hunter but Jacob is a plain man. He stays at home. When a thing is your field - where you're called to, you'll have an internal leading to go there. That's why you'll hear people say, "look inside you. What do you think you have capacity or passion for?" It is actually real. There's a thoroughfare in man that leads to what he should do for the rest of his life. If he has missed that thing by the influence of peers, parents or the blindness of prestige, that thoroughfare in him will still be witnessing to him in unsatisfactoriness that he has not aligned at all with his call from heaven. He'll become mechanical on the false job or what he calls life's work he has gone to sit at.

I told a brother, "just like you need no man to teach you because you have the anointing or the Holy Spirit who as well teaches and leads, this thoroughfare inside all man put inside them to hook them to the life's work they'll do eliminates somebody coming around to enforce on them what they should do in life" (I John 2:20, 27). You may have a confirmer but you're the discoverer. No man knows the thing of another man except its shown him however. Before he begins the seeking, you already have the puzzle in you to decode and match. God has destined that by looking inside you, you'll know what to do or become.

These are twin nations. Jacob and Esau. I hope you know Isaac and Rebekah didn't sit them down to ask or teach them what to become. As they mature, each by revelation and leading of the calling put in the thoroughfare of their heart went his own way. Esau was not even influenced by his dad's profession because Isaac was not a hunter. By discovery, they are so convinced individually of the ways to go that there's no confusion of reconsidering or doubt as to whether their way or chosen profession would profit them. While it pleases Esau to become a cunning hunter which he did. It pleases Jacob to be an easy man. Somebody that doesn't explore the world. Somebody that prefers to stay at home. Jacob has the typical girl's nature that's contented with being a home keeper. He just wants to stay within the reach of the parents, especially the mother. But not Esau. He's an independent man. A choleric - a man of the field. One whose face is set outside.

May I say that you need no man to teach you. Not that you can't be shown how to identify God's call over your life. I'm saying, you need no man to tell you, "you should become this or that" though that may still inevitably happen if you fail to discover and God's mercy is after you still. Why will Esau be a hunter and Jacob an in dweller if it were not coming from the revelation in their souls. Don't forget, what you discover yourself increases your conviction basement and makes you ready to offer explanation on its discovery always. This is why you must be watchful. Pay attention to yourself. Watch what you're inclined towards. What you think you do effortlessly. What you excel in. What irritates you that you want to amend. Just be attentive and you'll be led there. The place of not breaking rank in purpose is what God secures us to fulfill by letting the light of calling shine so much in each of us that we'll see glaringly what He's calling us to. Once this is undeniable by each of us, once we succumb to it, we will each agree to go to the field, career, vocation God destines for us all. By that, all humans can't be on the same job. We'll then be scattered all over the face of the earth to occupy and conquer different fields for God.

But if you have found a field to colonize, God will attach contentment to it as a reward. Once you do, you'll feel at peace, soothed and contented to stay in it. You'll feel  okay to continue exploring that field until you know it and dig all relevance in it out. This is how each specialization or the entire body of knowledge is built. While I have no interest to go into the moon, dive into the bottom of the sea or collect all the specimens that live in the atmosphere, some are enthusiastic about those. God put passion, contentment and joy in that for them. So,they're there without any thought of relocation even if they're not seriously rewarded. You may wonder if they're coping but they are. It is each man in his line, calling, field and the place God wants him stay for relevance. If Jacob also went out like Esau, how will he have porridge to offer Esau. This is the plan of God that what is the product of our calling or career becomes a general product offered for the benefitting of mankind. The entire family can't also deny benefitting of the game of Esau. This is it. That's balance. God relies on you to bring it to your world.

PRAYER: May I not deny my uniqueness. May I embrace it and have a "porridge" or a "game" to offer my own world.
