MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

EVANGEL OF GOOD TIDINGS

II Kings 7:10, KJV

"So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were."

What do we preach? It is the good news - of all Jesus did to purchase us redemption. The gospel that we preach is however not a far fetched thing for the preacher or that Christian who would preach it must have experienced it first of all. What we preach on another side is therefore who we ourselves have been made in Christ. It is this position we breathe out as invitation to other men who need Him. If you cook a meal and you're called back to teach the cooking of that meal to another, if something is not amiss, he who cooked it the first time should be able to reveal neatly again the process of its cooking. Herein that saying is fulfilled that, "it is what you have you give." It is who you were made at Salvation which you now know that you now call others to. Unless a man has sincerely discovered how impoverished a sinner is (having been a sinner himself previously), he'll likely not preach to others but rather colonize the gospel and make it a pool of water that do not flow though he has been recreated in Christ Jesus. This isn't God's intention as we shall see. On every occasion that a soul is saved, he (the soul saved) owes Jesus an obligation of preaching the gospel to others while they're left to be convicted of their sins by the Holy Spirit. This is where you do unto others like you've been done to. It also reveals your love for your neighbour, for he who is saved and knows the eternal damnation of the unsaved would desire them saved.

The four lepers at Samaria's gate have come upon the abundance that could feed the city. They took their time to joy in this abundance. We were told they ate and then carried off valuables to lay in store for themselves. They first of all became partakers; not sharers. After taking their fill and having a contact with the experience which is akin to the salvation of a Christian, they then call themselves to conference on how needful it is to spread the good tiding of their find. Mind you, their preaching is the good news of the discovered abundance which anyway they've experienced. Not what they saw but didn't partake of. Herein is this scripture fulfilled.

I John 1:3, KJV

"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."

If you go to verse one, you'll hear John speaking convincingly that what they share or declare unto others is "that which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life." We know that in reality, Jesus was born and took form of flesh. This gave the disciples ample privilege of relating with him with their senses. What you see with your eyes and grab with your hands, could you be persuaded out of its existence? John was simply saying they contacted Jesus first hand. They experienced Him and same which they've related with is what they declare to others that they may be like them in fellowship so that all of them could fellowship with the Father and the Son.

These lepers also experienced before they declared their find (which became their experience). It is a lighted candle we use to light another. A recreated spirit is only he that is qualified to bear the gospel to sinners. So, if you've not been a partaker of eternal life, you can't be His preacher. That's all those lepers did. They didn't become preachers of what they've not come to its knowledge. Brethren, what God is making you today is an evangel of good news which once upon a time brought you unto salvation - to the knowledge of truth that Christ bore your sins, suffered for you, died for you and then resurrected to give you life. Is it not while we were yet sinners Christ died for us (Rom.5:8)? That's the gospel. Declare same to preach Him and He that rose to live for evermore will save them.

PRAYER: Open my eyes to see my redemption and the consequences of it. May I know the gravity of the damnation of an unsaved soul to preach Him to them.

ACT: Seek to preach the gospel to a soul today.

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Joshua 22:21-23:16; Luke 20:27-47; Psalm 89:14-37; Proverbs 13:17-19
