THE RIB THAT FILLS IN THE GAP

Genesis 2:21,KJV

"And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

God removed a rib from Adam and formed it into a woman. The same miracle of making a skeleton into a whole person here was done in Ezekiel 37 also. All the Lord had was a frame or structure through which He built a whole human in both places. When Eve (that rib) was removed, there was an open space in Adam. It is a hollow that comes to be formed just like a hole is formed in the earth when a digging out of soil is done. It's this vacant space that God brought Eve back to fill in Adam's life. God seeks to make two become one and complete by bringing them together. That's what makes Eve Adam's perfect match. She becomes a match because she could fill in the gap left in Adam's life by God's deliberateness when her very self was dug out. That tells you that a spouse is only a half of the other. No spouse is complete on his or her own. There will always be a vacancy (deficiency) or room in his or her life that whom God will bring to him or her will need to fill up. So, seek after completion and cherish your spouse's contribution into your very life in perfecting you. Also, don't marry the wrong Christian or else a fitting may not occur.

Thank God we all did fill in the gap in school. Do you remember how you used letters to fill in gaps. Let's say we want to fill "C--P". For those letters to make a word and be regarded as same, we will need to put into it a letter that can make it a meaningful word. For example  "u" or "o" can fit into it to form a whole word. That tells you it is not only a person that your 'word' can necessarily be filled with as a Christian for you to be completed. Let's assume Brother Green-pastures proposed to Sister Still-waters. If the sister though God's will for that brother refuses him, God will still find another Christian sister for him that can fit into his life and fulfill the ministry that the first sister turned away from without loss. So, we can say there is a complement and substitute complement(s). Mind you, this doesn't mean a Christian is permitted to marry and keep two spouses at a go except the first dies. What I'm saying is that "o" or "u" can be inserted into "C--P" to make "cup" or "cop". That means there are vessels who can fill in your gap by fitting into your nature, tolerate your habits and accept you as a spouse. God is likely to choose from such set of people for you. They're always more than one that you can marry or can marry you! Is this therefore preaching to you to therefore reject God's will when it's made known to you? No.

Your better half is somewhere and only God through His leading and good choice making can make the path of you both cross. Like Ezekiel prophesied, I pray that you will gravitate towards your life partner in Jesus' name. No matter how distant the deer is to the stream, it gravitates towards it. There is a calling of it to come to the stream. Unless he drinks from the waters, he is unsatisfied and lacks rest. May the hollow and unsatisfactoriness in your life drive you to seek after that fellow who will bring completion to you. Let it be bone to its bone.

PRAYER: Lord, give me one that will be water to my deer, a satisfaction to my soul and a complement to/of my person.

WHEN THE LORD BRINGS IT TO YOU

READ Genesis 27:1-25

Genesis 27:20, KJV

"And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me."

I pray for you, the Lord will bring it to you. When the Lord brings it to you, you will locate it easily and your time of wandering shall be saved.

Isaac was old and he knew not the day of his death. To this end, he called Esau his son to go hunting and fetch him meat such as he liked for preparation of a delicious meal. He'll need to bless him before his death. They wouldn't know that Rebekah spies on them and has heard all.

While Isaac was jealous for Esau, Rebekah was concerned for Jacob. They each have their team member and one they were loyal to. May you not lack your man. It was Jacob's man (her mother) that helped him or else destiny blessing would have jumped him over. May God give you those who will watch your back and the back door for you. That was Jacob's advantage in today's reading. It's also your leverage in this life.

Where critical decisions will be taken, may you have those that will fight for you.  On that note, Rebekah therefore instructed Jacob to bring two kids from the flock which she'll prepare into the kind of meal Isaac loved. Jacob's fear was eliminated and this plan was carried out. When Jacob got the food ready for Isaac, Isaac was shocked at how the process of getting a bush meat could have been so shortened for anyone. So, he asked, "how is it that you were so quick about it?" That question shows Isaac was not ignorant of how tedious hunting for animals could be. It was also a means of verifying who came. Jacob however said one thing that my emphasis will be on today. He said, "because the Lord thy God brought it to me."

We knew God didn't bring anything to Jacob because he didn't even go hunting. He only lied since the animals he prepared were domesticated animals. However, let's leave all those to concentrate on the feedback of Jacob to his father which is actually a possibility in any Christian's life.

Do you know God could bring things to you? We all know that it took Esau a considerable longer time before he appeared before Jacob. What if as soon as he got to the wild, he didn't have to spend much time but a shorter one than he spent before God brings it to him.

People of God, God is still in the business of bringing it to His children. Twenty of you can be primary school mates. You started all together from the beginning but after twenty five years, some of you might have gotten why they're in this wild (life or earth) while others are still roaming around to find a perfect game or even find their foot. When you meet some of them and ask, how are you doing? How's family? They'll have evidences to show for it. They already have those things and on every matter of life have been helped greatly like the Lord helped Uzziah. If it's on purpose, they're already functioning big time in the anointing of their callings and details of their careers. Nothing is just lacking because their names are fledgling brands that are now being noised around at their level. When God brings it to you, struggle is eliminated. The house some are not eating but saving heavily to build can be given you. What the world is dying to have, cutting corners to achieve all can be delivered at your doorstep. Gift and inheritance are two means through which God can bring it to you apart from reaping a bumper harvest in what your hand has found to do which can give you quick acceleration to achieve. Favour is another way of quickly gathering.

I pray for you that when you go out in the morning to fetch what to eat, it will quickly come to you. While scouting for what to bring home, you won't meet a predator. All the things that a man needs to be a man or woman in this life, may the Lord God of Israel, Isaac and Jacob betray them into your hands so that your journey will be quicker over your mates. Receive it.

PRAYER: God, you're a betrayer and deliverer of good things needed for life unto my bosom; give to me on time.

WHEN THE LORD HAS NEED OF YOU

READ Mark 11:1-10

Mark 11:3,KJV

"And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither."

I want you to see that you'll be doing yourself a great favour if the Lord beckons on you and you hear. Men can call you with a no at hand for them. If the Lord does, I'll say, drop that which you have in your hands and follow. Jesus sent the disciples to go to a place and bring a colt tied on which no man has ever ridden. What a virgin it was! He, knowing they might be questioned gave them words to answer them. It wasn't that Jesus had afore preplanned with the colt's owner. The utterance which would communicate to the hearer, "the Lord has need of it" was therefore given to the disciples. That's the currency with which they went on that journey.

The Lord has need of it? Yes. That's His demand. If it is, let's give Him. You should be humble to learn from today's teaching. He they met didn't delay them after they said the Lord has need of it. They immediately let them go with it. What the Lord has need of is what He can't but get. That's how it should be though we have known some for their obstinacy and disagreement even in the face of the Lord has need of it. These are of the group who won't let go. These are of the set that their possessions are too weighty for them to part with. These are those who disdain God and do not esteem Him in act but can confess Him as Lord till tomorrow. For no one esteems God really that doesn't do so when sacrificial demands are made on him. Pharaoh won't let Israel go but Israel had to still go. God will do it even if it will be by strong arm.

The Lord has need of it! In the Yoruba culture of the Nigerian people, their ancient monarchs are known for exercising absolute authority. This authority was so far reaching that the king could see a lady and say, "she pleases me well. I'll have her for wife." All can't but agree even if they're not well pleased. It is the king. It is royalty that has made demand on them. It is not a man of mere presence. They'll even be honoured becoming in-law to the king though he's one with many wives already. How much more God to you? If the Lord requests of you a thing, He should have it. That's when there's nothing in God's will you stretch at without obtaining. It is the Lord that has need of it. It doesn't matter how costly it is. It's obtainable. If men would obey these ancient kings, how much more the Royalty that gives royalty to royalty? We should see and fear. Jordan saw and fled. You must be touched also. The Lord has come. If He tells you I need you for this or that purpose, let go. Don't struggle with God. He only wants to bring you to a great estate. When the Lord told Peter to lend him His boat which he did, the Lord rewarded him with the catch he has never caught before. Afterwards, the Lord made a final demand on him by saying, "follow me and I'll make you fishers of men." You can tell whether after Peter's heeding of this call he wasted away or grew in relevance. Is there any God has been saying, "I have need of you to but who's withholding?" Are there parents there who are withholding their children from their God's need for marriage? Those words have not changed. It is still, "the Lord has need of them." You should hear, be touched and submit. Come to the acknowledgement that it is the Lord and not the disciples you're seeing in their irrelevance who have come to make the tender.

PRAYER: Lord, I submit to your demand over me. Nothing I possess will be held back from Your service. All that's mine is Yours and Yours first of all.

SENT TO PRESERVE LIFE

READ Psalm 105

Psalm 105:17,KJV

"HE SENT a man BEFORE them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant."

God in His infinite mercy will not leave us comfortless. He always plans ahead because He has foresight. Israel is the beloved, covenant nation of God. They have special spot in God's heart. God is always committed to keeping them in existence. Israel/Jews had faced terrible attacks and persecutions down the line of history but they have emerged survivor and not a victim. God always has a strategy for keeping them continuous. This is one we're studying.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers so they might terminate his dreams. However, it wasn't men that sent Joseph there but God who was working out His will. God only used his brothers as the vehicle to hasten him into this special assignment or destiny. In Gen. 45:5-7, Joseph who had knew why he came to Egypt comforted his brothers not to be grieved for selling him off but to see the purpose behind it. Permit me to say, it was God who gave Joseph off to be sold that the Israelites might not perish by the reason of the 7 years famine to come. Everything was God's doing all along! Off course, that made it marvellous or baffling!

Joseph kept telling them, I was sent here to preserve and keep a remnant for Israel. "God made it so and had made me even a father to Pharaoh. I have a position of influence to preserve you by providing food  for you until this famine is lifted. This is why I was sent here" [Paraphrased].

Though his life was hard as a pioneer who went and cleared the path for others to have a stress free journey; he didn't take it for granted or ignore his calling. Have you asked why you are first amidst many brethren. It's because the call of a pioneer, saviour and care-giver is placed on you. Why would God send you ahead of others and specifically anoint you for success if not for you to preserve lives with your influence, power, wealth or status? Where Joseph got to, nobody in Israel had ever attained such office even amidst people of strange tongue. While many Christians celebrate prosperity and greatness and danced all around; they have not for once enquire why they have come to such great estate. Why I'm I great? For what reason did I graduate faster and at a tender age? Why I'm I the only succeeding fellow here? These are questions of purpose. A Joseph must know he is not created and made great for himself but that he might be useful for the uplifting of others, especially those that are  immediate to him. Some people's eyes would look at you, when it does, give what's in your hands.

There's a reason why you're alive. Joseph forgave and didn't allow grieve or bitterness blindfold or strangle his purpose for which he was sent ahead others. You might have been your own sponsor to becoming such a great one. Others might have ignored you and sold you off to failure and nothingness. However, do look beyond this and live the expectation of heaven hanging on you. Assist your siblings and know you're raised for them. There's a reason for your being sent ahead or before others. While they are in Canaan, you are in Egypt to prepare the ground for their future. You're their provider and preserver. Rise up and live to your task.

PRAYER: Lord, may I not disappoint Your expectation and people's over me.

MY EXPERIMENT ON WHO WILL BE GRIEVED

READ Psalm 127

Exodus 1:11-12, KJV

"11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.  12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel".

Why should they be grieved? Were they not the oppressor? Who should be grieved? The oppressed or the oppressor? You have heard said often that "silence is the best answer for a fool". I'll say it has its application in real life situations. If someone does all to get you angry while you keep your calm, do you know because you're not emitting the responses for which you're being frustrated, he might get frustrated. He'll get disoriented and wonder at why you never acted in response to his action despite all. Such people tend to leave you alone finally. They'll drop comments like, "He's a dead man! Let him be!" It rather gives the tormentor joy when you're emitting predicted feedbacks of his tormenting you. The more you get angry when insulted, the more insults he hauls at you again and again. Why? You keep meeting his expectation.

In today's reading, Pharaoh set task masters over the Israelites to afflict them. We read this report which says, "the more they're afflicted, the more they multiplied and grew". Now, this reaction as we saw yesterday defied the Egyptian's action at the Israelites. They ought to diminish and begin to go into extinction because no natural man continues reproducing in high fertility under unfavourable conditions. However, theirs was difference. At the observation of the Egyptians that this thing ain't working, they were shocked and thrown into dread. If they were wise, they ought to search "why?". Seeing the contrary, the Bible says, "they were vexed and alarmed because of the Israelites" AMP.

Is the oppressor not frustrated now? First, they were angry that their moves to stop them didn't work. Secondly, they were scared of the Israelites because it just doesn't make sense for any natural man to continue in high birth rate at their level of slavery. You may not know but let me tell you, there may be those fearing you currently. So much more that when your paths are to cross, having sighted you from afar, they would escape you. You might have been bewitched and enchanted spiritually without it working or showing in tangibility forms the enemy wants it seen. You may not know. The Israelites probably didn't know also that afterwards, the Egyptians dreaded them. But after all, your enemy himself would attest to the fact that you can't be shaken, removed or conquered. It makes such who have fought you without winning to respect you the more. Many of them if they're not the hardened type like Pharaoh will by so be moved unto repentance. They know how esteemed and powerful their bewitchment is. They've fashioned it at many who ran mad or died but seeing you not been affected would set them on enquiry. At their new birth, that's when you'll hear all the long story of how they tried bewitching and bringing you down but which didn't work. In their search for the whys, they came to know your God. May that be the testimony in Jesus name. Tell anyone who's making searches and going on the journey of enquiry of you to continue. Whenever they try, they'll always meet a wall which is God. They'll seek to curb, curtail, restrict and hinder you but all will be to no avail. Their labour will be vain labour because God won't build with them [Psalm 127:1]. Lacking God's support or acknowledgement, you remain the champion unconquered.

PRAYER: Make me impregnable. Teach me right standing with you. I clear my conscience of all things violating my righteousness.

DEFYING THE SITUATION

READ Gen. 50:15-20

Exodus 1:12, KJV

"But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel".

Due to the blessing on you, you'll defy the situation. You can't but burst the wine skin and outperform.

As one of the intervening techniques of curtailing Israel from multiplication having noticed they're of great populace and then mightier, Pharaoh made them slaves while making their lives bitter with all sorts of rigorous work. Israel was afflicted but Israel didn't bear the marks of affliction. It ought to be that Israel would diminish, die off and become a minority. However, contrary to that evil curbing technique of Pharaoh, Israel was reported to have grown the more! The way it was reported shows God Himself was fighting silently for Israel to prove a point to Pharaoh that who could have a thing decreed except He the Lord says it. For it was written, the more they were afflicted, the more they multiplied and grew. Isn't that contradictory? If you have two plants, which one should thrive or die out when one is being watered while the other isn't? I think the seed being afflicted by not watering should die off. Reverse is however the case for Israel. Israel thrived, survived and stood straight still. That's why you could hear of an orphan somewhere making it despite the lack of support or favourable condition. If you had seen the frown on Pharaoh's face, you wouldn't doubt that indeed the Egyptians were unhappy because of the Israelites (who kept multiplying).

Do you know that under the harshest conditions, surviving is actually a provision for God's own. Isaac sowed in the land and reaped hundred fold yet that was during famine! [Gen. 26:12]. You know that wasn't right. Something had been reversed and didn't work according to the law of nature there. Spiritual influences and forces working through the covenant - lineage's blessings and the personal promise of God to him to sow in same land were what mastered what should have been into what eventually became testimony. Your case is different son and daughter. When A is being done you in  expectance of B, you'll be manifesting Z to the shock of all. You're redeemed to cause shocks, draw awes and make eyes blink!

Are you in a country where prosperity is far from the common man? It once happened but that was when Elijah was eating balanced diet. Another economy will support you when one withers off. Egypt afflicted Israel but Israel never manifested the outcome of their bitterness towards them. Who are those troubling you? At day's end by the time they measure it, they'll see they have not achieved their aim and would be grieved. They'll be unhappy and say, "despite all". Do you know why? You're like a jeep specially built by its manufacturer to be rugged and survive bad roads and harsh conditions. You have in you, on you and around you things that would strengthen you to withstand and survive where the heathen under the same condition falls and collapses. The fiery burning furnace that the three Hebrew men withstood is what slay those who only drew near it. What preserves those ones? They're of a tribe that God is committed to. Devil, do your worst. Fight madly and in anger act in fury, I'll not look like your desire. Say that, " you won't look like Satan's desire". Like Israel, you'll cause awe of outgrowing restrictions. Disadvantages become advantages for you. It will be said of you that limitations rather and actually furthered you. He who works all things together is at the mill mixing what Satan, life and people are throwing at you to become reasons for which you'll testify. You're a tribe that disappoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands perform not their craftiness while they're grieved until they're brought to repentance or at absolute refusal - destruction.

PRAYER: Father, let me outgrow boundaries. I breakthrough hedges. Make me the testimony tribe and a testimonial to my world.

LOOKING UNTO JESUS

Hebrews 12:2, KJV

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

You must know that to be distracted is very easy. The very reason why you must intentionally practice selective looking. In today's verse, we are told to look unto Jesus. Looking unto Him and remembering some things about Him can keep us through our own hard times.

Literally, a thing you look unto is a thing you focus your gaze on. Your concentration is on such. Jesus in that verse is said to be taken as our model who endures shame for the joy set before Him. If we take Him as our model and continually remember how He struggled to win, we also would be mindful enough not to let go even when it's tough. We can't say we are alone or have nobody who has passed through the challenges we're passing through even if it's not the same challenge or situation.

A thing you constantly set before you is what you see. That's why the Psalmist says this.

Psalms 16:8, KJV

"I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

The remedy to not being moved in this life is setting the Lord before yourself. Something will come around that's enough reason to be shaken or moved. You'll be tried but those who will remain like hills surrounding Jerusalem which can't be moved will be those that have set the Lord before themselves. When you set God before yourself until He constantly takes the elegant place in your life (your right hand side) - showing importance and priority, you'll see that you can't be moved. Those who can't be moved are people who are constantly meditating and have established a strong belief in God. They've given Him the place of God who's all able. They're those who also creates the mental picture of the Almighty and His almightiness before themselves while putting themselves in constant remembrances of His miraculous acts. These are people who like David have not forgotten in a hurry the past works of the Lord but could firmly reminisce and say, "the Lord that delivers me from the paws of the lion and the bear will deliver me from this uncircumcised Philistine also." Those that would remember God's great act in the past are those who can have Him believed to be able to settle future risings.

Have you set the Lord before yourself? If He's not your focus, your meditation all day till He is giving a place in your life where He reigns as very important in your matters (to the extent that you can't do a thing without consulting Him), you'll easily be lost or give up when the storm arises.

PRAYER: Lord, may my daily practices show I've set you before me and that you're at my right hand. May I not be moved. May I see you as a worthy model to look unto and to.

HIS FAITHFULNESS IS PROVEN

Read Exodus 2:1-9

Exodus 2:4-5, KJV

"4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it."

Do you know that the Lord is faithful? The heathen must know and cover their mouth with their hands. Saints in Christ must see and to Him glory. Look, if there's no hand to receive you, one hand won't let you down. Even before your arrival, He takes thought for you.

The case of Moses reveals a God that won't let you be stranded wherever and at whatever time. It doesn't matter those who are watching how your end would look. If no strand of hair falls off without God's knowing, it means nothing happens to you without God's acknowledgement and permission first of all also. From this, you should draw assurance that you're always in the hands of God even if you're alone now. Moses was just a baby. His own case is worst than Joseph's. Joseph was an adolescent sold into slavery though without parents or one to point to as a familiar face. Moses when he was dropped by the river found himself in a bad condition than Joseph. He was not only without parents but defenseless since he was just three months old. What can a baby do if an ant or snake crawls on him? If we agree he's against these protected, what would he do if a hand comes to collect him away? He wouldn't have resisted. That's why God ensured Moses fell into the right hands.

To test whether God is faithful or not, one character proved God for us though she did out of curiosity. Moses' sister wouldn't go. Something held her still to continue to watch this season movie and see where it would end and where Moses would fall. She therefore hide herself in the bush at a vantage distance where she could see any transaction happening to baby Moses. What a connection between the siblings. Blood is powerful indeed. It brings two or more together in unbreakable bond. While she watches, she saw in queenly garments a figure arriving at the river. What could this mean? That's how the woman drew Moses from the water. As the contemplation was going on, she came out and suggested if her royalty would need a nurse. Yours truly, that's how the boy's mother nurses her own child. Imagine that! When it seems there was no hope, God rose one for Moses and preserved a prophet for Israel. Is it not because of situations like this that we have a scripture like the one below written for our exhortation.

Psalms 27:10, KJV

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Don't forget that clause, "the Lord will take me up." If that's the only verse you remember when you're deserted but surrounded, you'll beat the devil cyclically again and again. Are you a student on campus lacking support? It may not be to your sponsors' joy but don't forget God will take you up. Adoption is a reality. I was adopted on campus by many parents. Different people put money down at different times I needed it. My father had passed on and the burden was just too heavy on my Mama. Are you a missionary or minister who's forlorn in the field? Is the quarterly widow's mite promised you not coming again? The Lord will take you up. Wherever and on whatever you feel this is the end; may I announce, that's the beginning. My Father, you're the One I cry unto day and night. You also freely gave Jesus to us. If you gave this your best, will you withdraw any other good thing from us? Will you not rather freely give us all things to enjoy? I affirm it can't but be. I pray for all forlorn and those at a juncture where like Moses' sister watches what would become of themselves and their situations. It may look like you're in the midst of the sea and you're drowning. You might even have taken some gulps of water but salvation that arises in Zion for Israel shall arise for you today. When you're in no man's land, at the verge of being finished or on the road of being ended, help in time of need: an immediate help shall come your way. If Pharaoh's daughter didn't miss her time but hearkened to God to move to the saving of Moses when an invisible hand stirred her up, none would miss his time to aid you.

PRAYER: Your faithfulness is proven. Moses' sister waited and saw it. I am waiting, let me see it.

INVENTORS OR DESTROYERS - National Stories Series 006

READ Gen. 41

Genesis 41:15, KJV

"And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it".

In the community of men, you'll see the "inventors" and then the "destroyers". Today, I want to elaborate on why expatriates must have rights and room to flower wherever they find to indwell. Pharaoh said this, "Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land" Exo.1:10.

On who should this heavy hand of Pharaoh fall? Any who has been investigated and found to be indeed and in all morality sense against the peace of the nation. When Pharaoh said this of the Hebrews, we knew he was only speaking his insecurity out though there were obvious suspicious basis for what he said. Israel was many and mightier yet this doesn't literally translate to fighting one's host or seizing power. One may have money and not have any interest in the politics of his country. He may not run and may not sponsor any but we know he can be a victim of a suspicious dictator who believes can use his wealth to sponsor a coup against him. You may be qualified and not pursue. Pharaoh identified why Israel was a threat but though they possessed those attributes, they never thought of moving in the direction of overthrowing the government. If their time to leave had come (let's say Moses and Aaron didn't show up), they would still have sent representatives to Pharaoh to let them go while recounting history in his ears and thanking him for such long years of accommodation which he himself don't know about.

In today's reading, a Pharaoh (the dreamer) acknowledged Joseph by witness' report as he who could interpret dreams. Note how he said it. "I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it". This verse reveals Joseph as a beneficial, profiting expatriate to any nation that receives him. He is an inventor. One who can proffer solution to the problem of the country he dwells in. Such men as these don't only have skill, wisdom, education but they're also the correct citizen in that they don't violate the law. Such kind of citizen is to be desired by any government and given a room to flower. This Pharaoh (the dreamer) recognized that in Joseph. That's why he entrusted the whole land into his hands. He brought him into politics. It wasn't Joseph who aspired or canvasses for an office through perspiration, lust or filthy lucre. That only came as a reward. So, it's not bad for expatriates to be given recognition for their contributions. Any that has the potential, ability and character etc and thus can, is or had applied such to bring development to his country of indwelling is a developer or inventor. Once he's law abiding though has not yet built them a car that flies, he is in the inventor or developer category. Such either creates an enabling environment for such creating vehicles that fly/those doing miracles in their respective fields or are themselves. They should not be discarded or reduced to non entities on the basis of colour, race, gender, education etc. They should be made citizens and seen so so that the host country can have them for himself totally while leveraging on all their abilities to become a nation utopia. Such should not be made like unto the Hebrews who were suppressed and made second class citizens. Welcome them rather.

Such as plan its destruction, derogatorily defame it or refuse to abide in lawful order within its frame even though born citizens are destroyers.  Such the hand of the law should be heavy on. Have we not read who should be prosecuted and punished? Rom.13:3.  It is only on this second basis any government in the world should be seen being heavy on humans. Are they found out to be terrorists, law breakers or inciters of men to do so etc, let them face the tune of that. That's why the prison is created to sieve the chaff from the wheat irrespective of race, nationality, gender, education, status etc until such fellow's conduct is refined and fit for society again. That is if he is not carrying a death sentence. If Pharaoh had found this truth out, he would have harnessed all the brains amidst the Hebrews to build another great Egypt in his own tenure. However, insecurity blindfolded him to what these many and mightier people could yield him.

This is God's wisdom and counsel to all expatriates to be a "Joseph" who would advance the land of their dwelling. Be your homeland's ambassador. If you've been received as a citizen, behave and live like one.

PRAYER: As a Joseph in a strange land, may I not be short of being an inventor or developer.

THIS NATURAL FEELING OF JEALOUSY - National Stories Series 005

READ Exodus 1:8-15

Exodus 1:9-10, KJV

" 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land".

If in a home, the adopted children are doing better than the biological, do you believe it can set the biological on edge and make them question the right the adopted have in their father's house. Even, same could still happen where the biological are even better or all equals. That's when they (the biological) begins to possess their father for themselves because they now sense the incoming of sharing which could lead to competition. The biological children out of  jealousy of their father being another's father coupled with insecurity would ask, "when it is time, they'll show you your real parents and you shall leave". Do you know that all of us have a natural feeling of jealousy put in us? Only that we are liable to what we let it cause. I have heard many Africans for instance charge Europeans etc with being discriminating (myself inclusive) because we've seen a lot indeed. Let's reverse the order. Let's say Africa is the one this verily developed while Europe is the one coming to Africa, how many of you reasons to believe with me that we Africans would discriminate them as well?

Do you want to know why? We believe, "why come here to lick us clean?; why don't you stay in your own land too?". "If we are not beneficiaries of the little goodies in your land, why should you be here to exhaust ours?" That's our thinking and it is so for every host nation and some if not all its citizens. Indignation may be stirred in her citizens when they see the prosperity of aliens even more than natives. Don't forget that was the cause of Pharaoh's action. Israel was more and mightier than they were. They filled the land. Yesterday, I substantiate it by showing how Ghana sent packing all foreign nations (many African) living in her during Busia's government and how Nigeria sent Ghanaians especially packing too during the Buhari led administration after their being drawn by the oil boom. What excuse did Nigerians give? Ghanaians are not giving them space to breathe. They're sharing in what is not enough which should be meant for citizens. Why add to our problem? Up, begone to your father's house also! Even if it is enough, any one could have said, "go and develop your nation too". That's that jealousy. If it is not well channeled (for it can't be eradicated), it can lead to a massacre of the people.

So, before you'll say you can't discriminate and affirm same to be true, first put yourself in the shoe of Pharaoh and others who are guilty of it. Know why they do it and why you won't or shouldn't do it. Pharaoh started discriminating when he stopped seeing the Israelites as Egyptians. If Joseph were still alive, he would never have been lesser an Egyptian than he was a Hebrew. So is each of the Hebrews living in Egypt. They proud themselves being Egyptians though foreigners and Hebrews. The day natives don't see aliens or expatriates as citizens - which they (citizens) are, discrimination starts. For that is when we start creating distinction amidst men. Natives would only be justified of this if expatriates have stopped living as citizens.

Pharaoh's concern was concern but it was not well channeled. Israel didn't contest for the kingship of Egypt with the Egyptians. They only needed a land to live and right to life to exercise. That the natives are the ones ruling still makes them the domineering force because it is he who bears the sceptre that owns the nation. So today, let us not deny that we can be made jealous on the account of having being prospered and another coming to enjoy the labour of our heroes. Rather, let's grow out of the evils of being made jealous into seeing all men as one as long as they're for peace. Israel would have been guilty of what Pharaoh accused them of if they were trying to seize the government or planning Egypt's downfall. Except they're called to government, they should remain low also. But in this wise, insecurity and inordinate fear pushed Pharaoh into taking unnecessary measures. Check yourself too for God is jealous over strangers amidst you even to avenge them.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to treat my neighbour as myself.

WOULD YOU DOMINATE ME IN MY LAND? - National Stories Series 004

Exodus 1:9-10, KJV

"9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land".

Down the lane of history, humans have exhibited barbaric brutality against themselves. One of such reveals itself in racial discrimination where people are segregated against and treated so (inferiorly) on the basis of their colour. Though there is a great reawakening against it in this generation, yet I doubt whether it would be exterminated because even in countries of diverse tribes, there's tribalism and then several other divisions and caste groupings amidst all human beings - based on one reason or the other.

In today's reading, to our shock and surprise, it was a leader who ought to be an arbiter of justice who became insecure and intimidated by what another nation as he perceived was becoming in his territory. The danger is that Israel has become a mighty nation, greater than Egypt and if they're not subdued now, they'll one day join the enemy at war to fight them and by that leave the nation. This Pharaoh is not different from so many leaders who have taken annihilating steps of securing their territories against the misconceived take over of another people under the pretext of being outnumbered. If I ask any of us, "do you want to have strangers take over your land and dominate your community?" You'll obviously say "no" due to the natural feeling of jealousy in you that issues "what is mine should be mine". This is even when some other reasons are its real trigger. You might consider, a people with population may become the rulers through their influence as they'll even have the largest force. And one of the things that make nations feared nowadays is how mighty their force is. How much could they number at the sight of war. Verify, no small country ever becomes a world power. That's why we had the conglomeration of territories came together to become the United States of America. They needed the total force of all these people to intimidate and rank high. That's why it is easier for a country like Nigeria to become a world power though currently set back. It is because it has some of the ingredients for being a world power - the population and the economy.

One of the triggers that lead to why natives take heed to putting measures in place to curtail the aliens in their midst is the fear of those aliens taken or running them over. Even if it happens under the disguise of xenophobia, it is still the same. That feeling of, "how can you come to my fatherland and possess it for yourself while shifting me off" is what triggers many inhuman and inferior treatments against many expatriates. We tend to blame others for our lack of good life just like Nigerians retaliated by shouting Ghanaians out of their country under the pretext that Ghanaians (fellow Africans) made it difficult for them having enough during the oil boom that drew Ghanaians to Nigeria. This evokes the popular, "Ghana must go mantra". In this way, the Pan-africanist spirit that makes Africans Africans elsewhere on the continent was banished.

Pharaoh called his people and pointed to them a threat they were not seeing. We should be leaders that see as well but we should never be driven by insecurity, suspicion and hatred. If this Pharaoh had learnt about the deed of Joseph to his own people, he would have rather seen Israel as peace lovers. Wherever there's suspicion, strive and all sorts would soon make such its house. It is under this drive Pharaoh made slaves of the Hebrews - his benefactor. Only if he had known that Israel would never plan a take over, he wouldn't have commanded that their sons should be fed to the Nile. A subtle way of controlling Israel's population and exterminating birth rate in the future.

Today, God wants you watch inward feelings of  suspicion, distrust, insecurity against another that may lead you to become a tool of craze and destruction in the devil's hands. We are in the craze to defend our integrity in this world as nations. We know. We are not saying we shouldn't watch over the citizens God made us overseers over. However, we should not reduce one to slave while we esteem one as prince when they both abide by the law. In this way, we would be hindering justice and equality that our world is preaching and has set out to achieve. Pharaoh didn't ask Israel what they were thinking towards them. He resolved they harbour evil by all indicators that favour them. He became insecure that they were becoming a minority in their own land. What should a country like France then do whose natives are minority? As long as aliens are for peace and have come to live as citizens, every good government should treat them as one.

PRAYER: Make me a leader of right intention who is only a terror to evil doers and evil works but would embrace all good works irrespective of shades and varieties.

LET THE RECORDS BE BROUGHT - National Stories Series 003

READ Esther 6

Esther 6:1, KJV

"On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king".

If you had asked me what other title I would title this, I'll say "Remembrance in Action". We read yesterday what permitted the enslavement of Israel in Egypt. It was not because Joseph died but because a new king arose that knew not Joseph. If he had known Joseph, he could have withhold hurting the descendants of his nation's benefactor. So, the lack of remembrance here was to the undoing of Israel [Exo.1:8].

In today's reading, Ahasuerus could not sleep. That was God at work because the Jews have been slated to be destroyed by Haman but God has started fighting for them. Out of no where, he requested that the book of records be brought. If you read the Bible very well; whenever kings are troubled, they request for wise men to come in to interpret the trouble of their souls or as natural men request for wine to cheer up. But why would the king suddenly in the night ask that the national archives be brought and searched? God puts a leading in him to go into the archives of past events. It was God who stung him awake, put unrest in his soul and it was him who satisfied him by making him find out about Mordecai's unrewarded deed. He requested if a thing was done him to which a Chamberlain replied in the negative. This is how the forgotten Mordecai, who's beginning to be out of favour and in line for mass destruction with his people begin to receive ascension and lifting back into favour.

Forgetfulness is costly. It sentenced Israel to slavery and hard labour. It costs them lives of their sons. All because there was a Pharaoh who didn't know Joseph. That the Bible said, "a king arose who didn't know Joseph" means he could have learnt of Joseph's deed and if he had learnt so, he could have refrained from sentencing them to slavery out of insecurity and jealousy as if they are people of no noble man. He would have seen them as people of peace and not those who could mix with their enemies to hurt his people if a war breaks out [Exo.1:10]. But he didn't know. History was either not told him or it was not documented down at all.

At a time when it seems ominous sound and tragedy was beginning to way lay Mordecai and the Jews, God began to revive hope in Mordecai and the Jews of His being their present help in trouble. The first act happened that shows God could override well cooked plans. The records were revived out of the blues. Who's there reading this? It doesn't matter how close you are to the grave or disgrace, what would bring you back will happen. What would redeem you from every evil planned against you shall begin to happen and you shall be vindicated. Without the evidences of Queen Esther against Haman as one who wanted to destroy her people, if the King had learnt that Mordecai was one of the ones to be killed, he would have had it investigated. Do you want to know why? The behaviour and reputation of Mordecai in records contradicts whatsoever reason a fellow could have raised of his being a law breaker. Was it not this same man that exposed two Chamberlains who would have successfully toppled down the king? How could such loyal, dedicated person have suddenly become of evil intention when he didn't partner with coup planners previously.  Suspicion must arise in the king that he was probably being framed. Though this was not outrightly discovered, yet we saw how God rose remembrance for Mordecai and how he got payment for what any thought had gone.

You won't sink. Seeds that have been sown ahead of time by your predecessors or you shall speak for you when needed. Your good deeds won't just be in the books. They'll breathe and draw hearts to peruse them so that you'll be rewarded and begin to be brought salvation in Jesus name. All those who needs vindication because you were misconceived, misjudged or accused wrongly, past records set right would stand even at late hour to vindicate you. You won't go as they planned it. You're the Lord's redeemed.

PRAYER: Redeemer, the hope reviver, wherever I'm slated for slaughter, call me back.

WHICH KNEW NOT JOSEPH - National Stories Series 002

READ Gen. 41

Exodus 1:8, KJV

"Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph".

Treatment that we are dealt many times is harvest of the seed someone sows. Action begets reaction. This unfortunately may be negative ones at times. If you won't forget Joseph, he's significantly and best remembered as the saviour of Egypt through the given and applied wisdom of grain preservation. He brought Pharaoh and Egypt wealth untold by taken advantage of other nations' blindness to see the coming evil and hide. Having been very much esteemed by Pharaoh and the Egyptians with all knees submitting to him, he became a model for all to look at. He was a gift and if you'll put it right, a "god" to the Egyptians. Joseph himself even sent his brothers to tell his father that God had made him a "father" to Pharaoh [Gen. 45:8]. If that be, there won't be anything good and comely in life difficult for Pharaoh to release for Joseph's sake. All these his deeds made Pharaoh succumb to accommodating Israel into a specified separated land called Goshen. Pharaoh didn't see it a hard thing to do to harbour a whole nation in his country because he had seen an example of the Hebrews in Joseph. If Joseph had wisely behaved himself in a manner as to bring salvation to the Egyptians, then the other Hebrews can't but be the good luck and charm of the Egyptians. No wonder, when Joseph presented his brothers to Pharaoh as nomadics, he immediately seized that opportunity to request them to be shepherds of his own herd too. Trust immediately rose [Gen.47:6].

However, this Joseph of mighty deed and this grateful Pharaoh soon passed away. With the death of a saviour and the rise of a new king who doesn't know Joseph, the Hebrews became second class citizens in the land their brother, predecessor, ancestor had preserved and won recognition for. Yesterday, I taught in the devotional what embarrassment befalls someone whose his defence or influence dies or falls away. We saw how the Philistines didn't flee for their lives until they had ascertained their champion: the one in whom their soul rested in had fallen and died. Things embarrassing and disgraceful happens to one's down lines at one's back because the man whose reputation should be considered for one's soft treatment has left.

That place says, "a new king rose who knew not Joseph". It simply means one who didn't hear of the achievement and preservative work of Joseph. If he had been told and had heard, he would have respected Israel and had not taken them as slaves nor had their born sons thrown into the Nile. But when history is not told, people become guilty and victims of the past that should have curtailed their wrong actions or preserved them from same. I pray for you, the deeds of those on whose account you should be kindly treated shall always appear, recalled and known. If it goes into oblivion, you may suffer for it. That Israel went into slavery may fulfill the prophecy God had given to Abraham afore time but it was also because one man who should know Joseph didn't know Joseph [Gen. 15:14-14]. If he had known Joseph and his deeds had been rehearsed in his ears, it may not be him who would be this hard on Israel. May your Joseph not die. That's your ticket to good life. When he does, may his deeds speak still. Have we not read of the voice of righteous Abel that cries though dead [Heb.11:4]. Better still, Jesus blood speaks better things even till now on our behalf than the blood of this righteous Abel [Heb.12:24]. I therefore pronounce you blessed. I say let Josephs rise for you. Whenever it remains little for you to suffer and become victim of a wrong decision or action, may mouths, records and deeds be recounted to your salvation. I have spoken and it is so. You will reap the good deeds of someone you don't even know was sown.

PRAYER: God of all the earth, make me a Joseph to nations. Let my deed preserve, bless and bring nations out of depression. Even at death, may my Josephs (parents' etc) deeds speak for me. Before the Father and men, may Jesus' suffering, death and righteousness procure me favour always.

MAY OUR CHAMPION NOT FALL

I Samuel 17:51, KJV

"Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled".

Strike the shepherd, the sheep will scatter is indeed true. After the verbal exchange between Goliath and David, Goliath ran towards the battle line to confront the young lad whom he esteemed as a little rat.  "And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods" 1 Samuel  17:43.

David, who won't allow the words of Goliath to damp him also gave his response. It was first of all war of verbal exchange! When the Philistine drew near to him for battle, he didn't waste time but rather went up to meet him for battle. David releases a slingshot which hits the giant on his forehead. The stone sunk in and he fell to the ground. In absolute victory, David stood on the once giant giant and rejoiced over him. He then took the sword of this enemy of the Lord and Israel to cut off his head. This act proves the irreversibility of Goliath's death.

On seeing the fate of their champion sealed, the Philistines turned their backs and fled. But these were the Philistines that once stood like Mount Zion that can't be moved. Why should they turn around now? The simple truth is this. We all have who or what we put our confidence resolutely in. Once it fails or falls, we're vulnerable. If you'll remember, in afore verses, it was Goliath who was making a call for the adoption of one to one combat. He challenged Israel and echoed, "give me a man that we may fight...". For anyone to have made such request, he is in the first place not a warrior to confront. He was not only sure of himself but all the Philistines' souls rested perfectly well on him. "He had done it before. He'll do it again", they say. While he was saying, give me a man that we may fight and was setting the terms and conditions, all the Philistines were busy giggling, mocking Israel and relieving themselves of the worry of army to army combat. They had seen in him a chest to lean on. To them, Goliath whom anyone of us would regard as a villain was a mighty deliverer. Isn't that why the Bible repeatedly calls him, "a champion". Guess whose champion's. Of the Philistines. The defender of their nation. A great ambassador of all they embody. But something happen. Goliath of Gath, the giant that scares a whole army went down. In absolute victory and rejoicing unparalleled, David, the boy he least esteemed carried his head. To this, his followers responded with a swift race to escape death. If the shepherd has been struck, the sheep should look unto his ways.

That's why I pray for you that your champion won't fall. The one God has given you to rely on shall tarry. Your parents, that sibling, that spouse who's your joy, helper, burden bearer shall not suddenly be taken away from you. If it happens, one should get ready for many embarrassments. When my father passed on, those who were apprenticed or like servants to him who couldn't come out afore times were the ones proposing love to my mother. I was so embarrassed at one such event like that that my blood boiled with jealousy to go beat one of such men. What couldn't afflict the Philistines at the watch of Goliath while he was standing tall, did at his back. That's what I'm praying you'll be saved from in all facets. So shall it be. Your wall shall not break down. Your defence shall not be weakened. Though man of flesh has little days and is not Spirit as to be eternally trusted, yet I pray that until you can stand on your own and defend your integrity, those whom God has given as covers to you won't be removed. In Jesus name!

PRAYER: Goliath is useful and is the importance of the Philistines. He is their shield. A singular man that protects the national integrity. Make me so. Those you've made so to me, spare them Lord.

PLEASE, BRING YOUR OWN ALSO

READ John 1:35-42

John 1:41,KJV

"He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ."

John the Baptist gave Jesus the validation that His ministry needed for a recommendation to the people of His days. As for John the Baptist, he was a recognised prophet with a recognized ministry. Jesus also needs acceptance in the body of people He was sent to and John certified Him as "the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world" (John 1:29-37). Don't forget that man's certification is nothing if man is not affirming what God has already said. So, John simply revealed Jesus out of His obscurity and affirmed Him to the world after the saying of the Father [Matt. 3:17, KJV].

John didn't direct attention to himself but turned it to Jesus: One Who he esteemed as He whom he is not worthy to serve as servant to. In the light of this, some two disciples of John the Baptist found Jesus to be the Messiah. One of such who followed Christ in today's passage is Andrew.

This Andrew is a man that we should emulate his attribute of firstly and quickly sharing the news of his finding the Messiah with his household member. People are selfish on different occasions but which is only earthly bound. They communicate opportunities to those who are theirs before thinking of outsiders. However, they neglect sharing the gospel with parents, siblings and relatives. They have this mindset that it would be good for another believer to do it whom their family may consent to. A prophet has no honour in his own town is their deception when their light can so shine as to even convert without their verbosity. Andrew unashamedly shared the discovery of Jesus with his brother, Peter. He didn't worry if Peter would accept that good news or not. He only preached it and Peter was wrapped enough in that news to the extent that Andrew brought him also to Jesus. Holy Spirit has not stopped being the convicting One. Humans however are the preaching ones.

You must know that God has a plan for you to be saved and then your household inclusive. His plan starts with each family. Once you're saved, it means your household becomes your first responsibility. Most times however, converts nowadays don't see the need for their immediate family members to be saved. They're not yet touched with the consequence of seeing these beloved being wasted eternally. While you have a responsibility to preach the gospel beyond your family scope, however, you should prioritize your household. That was the jealousy, zeal and selfishness of Andrew for his brother. What is near us should be prioritized. Even Jesus told the disciples to start from Jerusalem to extend to other places [Acts 1:8]. So should you. Start from your family.

PRAYER: Lord, use me for my family's salvation. May I not be ashamed of reaching souls and bringing them into light.

A CURE IT ALL AFTER ROUNDING AROUND

READ Luke 8:43-48

Luke 8:43-44, KJV

"43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched."

This woman suffered so much from many physicians because she was looking for a cure it all - what suffices. She has an issue of blood that detests curbing which need to be stopped but to no avail. This has put food on the tables of those who claimed they could help her for these twelve years.

After searching for what could cure it all for twelve years, she attempted Jesus. Alas! It worked. The Bible reported that her flow of blood stopped immediately.

What could suffice - meets her need and ended it forever for the very first time in twelve years. That's what many physicians (doctors) in their profession couldn't get done. When she meets Jesus, it suffices her. She didn't have to go see another who could do it again. Philip told Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus said He who has seen Him has seen the Father. When this woman receives her healing from Jesus, it is equal to having received an answer that would make her not to begin to crazily seek after people whom she thought could give satisfaction again. That healing of Jesus sufficed her. It was enough for her and nothing else was needed again. All was settled and that ended her journey to who else could do it. May what is making you shift from one place to the other end today. May you meet the healer, provider and be sufficed - satisfied and settled of that thing forever. A man with a met need is a satisfied man. It's a man that still has an unsatisfied need in his life that keeps looking all around for remedies that could work. May you stop being on the run. May God give you rest that your soul desires and hope. A hart finds rest in the flowing water of the stream. I decree that your rest comes now!

PRAYER: Lord, any stubborn need in my life that has defied solution is met in Jesus name. I know rest and receive a testimony.

STRONGHOLDS ARE ANSWERABLE TO DECREES

Nahum 3:12, KJV

"All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater."

A stronghold is a place built to withstand attack. It is a refuge or fortress. In time of war, people run there. A cave can serve the purpose of a stronghold. Contradictorily, God's declaration speaks concerning the defence of Nineveh and how weak her stronghold will be - permeating the enemy. A stronghold which is meant to be a defence will now be one that rather will give way very easily to intruders. It will just be easy to break through it or into it. So, security will be compromised.

Like ripe fruits fall without much effort but by just a shaking of the tree, so does God declares ease of penetration into Nineveh. To be sincere with you, God's decrees can make difficult things easy. If you know what a stronghold is, you'll know it is always intentionally built to resist external aggressions. If it's a wall for instance that's built into a stronghold, the bricks will be thoroughly baked in the furnace and given the quality of seven times processing. Apart from that, it won't be like our normal nowadays fence in width. Like the wall of Jericho, it could be a wall that two vehicles could comfortably drive on - one going, one coming at the same time. That may be the width. Imagine a fence with the width of an express road. This made such hardly breakable. To break walls like this, Uzziah during his reign gave special attention to the building of engines and machines that shoot arrows from towers and at the same time haul stones. To break through such, one will need to haul persistently a specially made combo stone at a specific place until holes are made in there for soldiers to enter (II Chronicles 26:15 & Ezekiel 26:9). Defences are not easily broken even in sports because it's specially made to resist and withstand the opponent especially front line attackers. You can fight it but it is meant to tire you until you drop.

Why this in - too - to attention? Because it's a wall meant to serve as a protection, hiding place and a keeper at distance of offensive  launches. They call such walls bulwark. Imagine such a stronghold well built by the best of minds to keep lives and properties in the city safe now being made into ABC for its attackers at God's declaration. What's the thing that could be likened to a stronghold - which is not giving you a way to pass and penetrate in this life? May God make the decree of ease that will make what Satan calls stronghold open to you of its own accord.

Many times, men's minds don't know how to grab with difficulties. However, what they view as threat is settled before their arrival at the location of its encounter. For example, an angel rolled away the stone at the tomb's mouth for those caring and seeking women (Mark 16:3-4) which they had concerned themselves with. At their arrival, God has made difficult things easy for them.

That's the covenant of ease. Before you press, it opens. It's like getting to the ATM machine and withdrawing once from the same machine that didn't dispense for hundreds. When the covenant of ease taints your head, the key in your hands will have no work to do; your effort and strength will be saved and things will be happening for you by God's finger and supernatural power.

Brethren, Jesus makes difficult things easy. Come to Him today and tastes how strongholds can become a tree shaken once with an immediate release of all its fruits.

Today, you won't be denied entry. Access is given you. Receive an entrance and a penetration. No more bounce back but rather an opening even in the toughest of the toughest. For you to have your way, I see God betraying strongholds to you and making holes and loopholes in them for you.

PRAYER: Jesus, You make difficult things easy - give me the covenant of ease and peace. Let strongholds open to me even at my first attempt.

WHY BE TEMPERED

Ecclesiastes 11:9, KJV "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment."

God is never against our making choices though He desires we make the right choices. He placed life and death before Israel but still leaks the exam question to them by whispering to their ears to choose life (Deut.30:19). That's how God desires we choose right despite having full right to choose from a variety of good or bad. If He wants us to be pruned of making choices, he'll have made us robots or eliminate alternatives.

God has given man freewill. The man He makes is one that can explore the world for himself. Somebody who can say like Solomon: "And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour" Ecclesiastes 2:10, KJV. Or one who will not make his liberty a bait to hook himself despite his having the privilege of doing anything that interests him (which of course may not interest God). We know that the undoing of Solomon was that he didn't deny himself some things his eyes saw and which his heart cheers or encourages him to do. If there's no inner restrain of the Holy Ghost on some choices, they'll be detrimental to you. That you have the right to choose what to eat shouldn't make you desire and eventually eat poison. Who don't know that will kill you?

Our passage for today is bringing to our prompt consciousness one reason why youths and all humans must be tempered: the remembrance of judgement. God is not against your exploring life like Solomon. That's why in the first place He makes you the wanting man He made you. That's why He gave you sight. Just remember that after doing all as you may deem best by yourself, God will call you to account. Nobody is on his own. No human is an absolute authority or end of the road to himself. Youths are known for experimentation. They are in a time of life where they want to have, taste and touch everything. When you restrict a youth on adventure, he might resent you and see you as one limiting the exercise of his liberty. Meanwhile, God is not saying, "don't exercise your rights" but rather calls us to restricted liberty even while total liberty is given us. Though God has said you could make your choice and do whatsoever, it doesn't mean you should begin to live like Esau, as a profane man who despises his birthright. When you begin to fornicate, club and waste your time in this life and the ingredients of your calling, never think God won't call you into account one day for that.

So, what manner of man ought we to be when we know brightly that a day of accountability comes to request us to give a tender on how we've spent our time and use our free will. God isn't against enjoyment but sin must not be what you'll indulge in and call enjoyment. To all of us without an exception to an age group, our moment on earth is the time of our choice. We can do anything, act anyhow (either good or bad) but we should bear at the back of our mind that we would be checked out. Our acts won't just go like that. So, hear and be tempered. Caution yourself and live a life that's acceptable before Jesus Christ your Saviour and the Father. You should fear and call yourself to immediate caution if you've run out of control because you were told today to know for sure that you'll be brought into judgement. The certainty of it is steadfast and you should expect that. So, that's an enough reason to repent and live right.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me right living on earth. I will not be baited by undisciplined liberty.

BECAUSE IT IS YOUR SEASON

Read Psalm 1

Psalms 1:3, KJV

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

The righteous is like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season. What your gaze must be fixed on is _"that brings forth his fruits in his season."_ Do you know some things won't just yield unless their seasons come. If you know this, you'll quickly be hastened as a Christian to discern and separate between what you can accrue any time any day and what can only be received in its season.

There is a thing like " _the day, the time or the season_ ." If it is not the season for a leaf to fall off its branch, it won't fall unless you pluck it off. If it's not day for the sun to shine or night for the moon to peep out, you won't see either. Though they both wanted to be seen at the peak of their performances, yet they stick to the rule of their seasons. Season naturally calls you into manifestation even without your taking thought for it. That's why you have to pray that your season will come upon you. It is not age that determines season but the ordaining of God and how cooperative we are with God on our personal journey. Some by their own acts are delaying or postponing the ripening of their seasons though it has been afore fixed that they manifest or bring forth someday. Stop sinning, stop not putting preparation in place for the D-day.

If that tree bears fruits in its own season, the message is that you must bring forth at your season. It means some things must happen or be fulfilled upon you because of their time which has mature and is fixed. You're not destined not to be productive. You carry in you the seed that gives birth. That place says, "he brings forth HIS FRUIT in his season." Did you see? Some fruits were allotted to him. That is, whether he likes it or not, he must bring forth something which is his. God has destined you too to bring forth. Unless seasons come for some things, no matter how you try, you can't force result. If at your season, you however are not productive, then there's an attack and a curse of the devil hindering that. I break it off you in Jesus name. What did the Bible say here?

Psalms 102:13, KJV

"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come."

Why would God arise? ...because that fixed time has come. That's all. Nothing added and nothing removed. Singularly, that's the reason for God's coming through for Zion. Are you not Zion today? Your season has come. If it's your season for it to happen or be done, it means it can't be hindered because things must answer at their seasons. A law is there and an angel watches over your season to ensure that it is kept. You won't miss seasons! I pray for you, because your season has come, you'll be productive in your calling and career. You'll be favoured, sought after and things would happen for you faster and better than you've been labouring to make happen. Alas, the season has come upon you. Result can't be hindered again because the Law and the Lord of seasons are watching to perform to you in your season.

PRAYER: Lord, help me by early discovery not to miss seasons. Restore to me any missed season/opportunities. Watch over my season with jealousy for accomplishment of purpose.

BECOMING AN ANSWER TO PRAYER

READ ACTS 10:1-48

Acts 10:5, KJV

"And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:"

God knows the need of people. Cornelius gives much alms and prays to God often but he has one need in his life - to be born again. That's the prevention from winding up in hell. One day, an angel appears to him telling him to send men to Joppa to bring Peter and that Peter would tell him what to do. There are those who know what to do and those who don't. Those who know what to do have come to believe in the light and must show others the true light because that's their call. Look at the compensation for the alms and prayers of Cornelius which the angel said has risen as a memorial before God.

What happens? Peter was sent to this Gentile household/nation out of his cherished, long standing observant of the law of "don't eat anything unclean". God responds to all Cornelius' prayer by giving him a preacher. A preacher is a compensation or one of God's best gifts to a needy world. So, count yourself very privileged being one or for listening to one.

You see, I want to believe just like it happened to Cornelius that there are people who are or have been praying fervently for God's will to be done in their lives and need just little instructions to get such done. Their hearts pants after God. If it should be opened, you'll see how much their hearts have been rent to receive Jesus and what He might instruct. There may even be those who have prayed that God will raise a minister to come into their settlement, plant a church and start great work for God. They know there is wickedness but they seem not enough to end it and so intercedes for God to send a man. There are places that missionaries have stepped on and laboured. These missionaries prayed for a substitute of themselves so the work might continue but all was to no avail until their death. Meanwhile, their voices are still heard on such land and before God. Suddenly, if their prayers should rise as a memorial before God, God would quickly send a minister to such area. Your prayer today should be, "God, make me an answer to the current and pending prayers of people". If the prayers of some people won't be in vain, God must send you like He sent Peter. How can they hear except there is a preacher?

Romans 10:14, KJV

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Hearing or believing actually takes the road of being preached to first of all. As salvation's process of believing and confessing Jesus as Lord is very simple, yet no one can come to believe in one he is not first told about or has afore heard before confessing the acceptance and lordship of same. Look at yourself. Did you just get born again? It takes a kind of being led into it right? To reach a soul especially one that's desperate, God can do anything. He cares for souls because that's His heart beat. As the year goes on, God wants you to begin to think as a missionary and one whom evangelism would be his core this year. God wants you to be an answer to people's prayers which calls for readiness to drop your cherished values or practices which could hinder His work. This may be traditions of men or that of God which He Himself will be stirring you to let go for a bigger purpose to relocate into places He might be sending you. The world needs God because it's dying. If the world should die, it's not because Jesus didn't die but because there is no man to send.

PRAYER: Lord, make me an answer and response to ongoing and generational prayers. Lord, send me where there's need to address.

IF YOUR LIFE MUST CHANGE

I Chronicles 4:9-10, KJV

"9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."

There is the conventional crying or action while there's the unconventional. Jabez cried! He cried! Why did Jabez call on God? He cried because he wanted to change his situation. The situation Jabez met himself was not his creation. Whether it was however his creation or not isn't the ultimate. Where the matter is is changing the situation. You can't forever mourn the past when you should take responsibility for the future. Jabez had been cursed subtly at birth and he needed to break off from this pronouncement that has been moulded into a yoke which yielded to him undesirables.

On that note, he called on the God of Israel. He attacked and addressed a particular quarters. He knows every good and perfect gift comes from above. Now, before he cried, he came to the discovery of something not good. He got to a place where having spoken with himself, he decided not to continue that way again. He must off course have seen a lot of disgraces and embarrassments which brought him to himself to say, "enough!" He wanted freedom and he set his mind on it and not any other thing. If you had met Jabez at this time and had asked him what he wanted, he would have mentioned one thing, "change." Jabez knew what to address and then who to address. It was God he called unto. He didn't cry to the mother and say, "make another pronouncement." You must know where to face, who to appeal and draw your requests on.

How many people are tired of where they are, who they are and the repeating happenings in their lives? Until you are tired and wanted a turn of event, you can't take a corresponding action. Jabez got to this brink. He got where he knew nobody would turn things for him except he does it himself. Therefore, like Jephthah, he took his life into his hands and advocated for his cause from the Father. He petitioned God. Like an angry man, he refused to leave God alone nor be comforted. God saw the desperation and signed his demands.

Come and see contention in the spirit. When Jabez cried to God, it is equal to fighting that curse or label put on him in the spirit. There was a violent reaction. Things shook in the spirit and what was the result eventually? Jabez then became a new being. One who could be described as being honourable than the children of his mother. But that was not Jabez before. A new Jabez now walks the town. Hallelujah! Today, may your identity change. May you be known otherwise from the past. May there be a turning and a wide distance from how you're negatively described to how you'll begin to be positively described. But before any of these will happen, you must come to the realization of your condition. You must be pained. You must be angry to have a new life. When you are, then you'll see new ideas, actions etc flooding you as practical steps by which your life, status etc would change. Jabez prayed. You may not necessarily pray but rather may take actions which you've never taken before that will bring that new dawn on you.

PRAYER: Sensitize me to what I should resist. Let my awareness lead to unconventional acts to desire change. I receive a distinction that deviates from past's reputation.

REVIVE US!

Job 14:7-9, KJV

"7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 14:8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;  14:9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant".

I read of a man that committed suicide during the great stock crash. He lost his wealth and then took his life which could have gotten all he lost back. No matter how extreme you've been hit, if you still have life, you can still make a reappearance. Boxers in the ring do make a come back you know. In warfare, it is very much understood that if you don't want the revenge of an enemy, you exterminate and crush him totally. The devil often make this mistake of not touching life while touching things round people's lives. God Himself understood this and so warned the devil not to touch Job's life [Job 2:6]. Job's life that was spared eventually got all back abundantly [Job 42:10]. If you still have life retained, I announce to you, you retain all.

In today's Bible reading, the Israelites have been subjugated by the consequent Pharaohs and Israel which was once loved because of the labour of Joseph now suffers in a strange land. God on seeing their affliction plans their rescue and sent them Moses.

Exodus 4:29-31, KJV

"29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel: 30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. 31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped".

Did you read there that when they heard that the Lord had visited them, "they bowed their heads and worshipped?"Do you know the essence of that "bowing" and "worshipping"? Why did they do it? What calls them to bow and worship? These are people who have spent years of years in slavery that announcement of rescue has come for. Don't you think they had sigh and say, "Thank you Lord. Last, last!". They've been expecting. They've been peeping on tiptoes. At least they've heard of a land promised their patriarchs. They've heard it told them how even Joseph said the Lord would visit them and when he does, they should carry his bones hence [Gen. 50:24-25]. So, it was a sure concretized thing that they were in anticipation for a day when they'll receive an announcement of God's visitation to initiate their cropping into that land. At the announcement of Moses that the Lord has met them, they breathed a sigh of relieve. They shouted hallelujah. They rested from their work and gossiped about the visitation of God in great jubilation. They were delighted and so much grateful that at the reception of that news, they bowed and worshipped. They worshipped doing homage to Him, thanking Him for the hope, the chopper which has come to bear them out of slavery where evil bosses of life has held them.

Have you seen people who received good news before? May I ask you what behaviour they give off? Surely it may vary but it is not always devoid of thanksgiving. At the place of reception, you'll see some right away singing, dancing, closing their eyes in worship and prayer for the good news. Israel till this news' reception was like the dead but when that news of God having looked on their affliction came, they bowed in gratefulness and worshipped in adoration. They revived. But that was at the scent of water. What's the water? News of God's visitation.

Who is there who needs to revive? Who has stiffed? Who has given up? Who has thought the slavery would continue? Today, you receive a break. Behold your vacation! What good news were you anticipating? Angels move things for you to have it. Israel bowed and worshipped in revival of soul and thanksgiving. You'll do same. I say revive. Anything that can call you back from the position of death, let it happen and snap you awake to a glorious future and expected end.

PRAYER: Shepherd of Israel, He Who leads Joseph like a flock, I invoke You to give me a break from slavery. I want a break that good news brings.

"7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. 8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.  9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words".

There's a saying that, "an idle hand is the devil's workshop". Today's reading alludes to it very much. The appearance of Moses and Aaron and the relation of God's plan of deliverance to Israel made Israel worship God [Exodus 4:31]. The voices of the people, Moses and Aaron now appears before Pharaoh to tell him of the need to "let Israel go" because God has met with them and is asking for same. Pharaoh wouldn't bulge. He said, "He knew not the Lord". The spreading of God's news of deliverance to Israel is enough to awaken a dead soul. To this end, people rested from their work which Pharaoh through slavery makes them do.  In Pharaoh's word, "why do Moses and Aaron make the people rest from their burdens?" Pharaoh could only resolve on the fact that Israel gave heed to Moses and Aaron's 'fable' because they had no enough work to do. So, that same day, he ordered that their work be made more bitter and that they shouldn't be given straw again for bricks but rather search for it themselves. To complicate the matter, he also said the number of daily output must not diminish.

"Straw" usually do serve as fodder for herbivorous animals. This straw is usually threshed and mixed with clay for plastering or to make sun dry bricks. Now, instead of being given already threshed straw for brick making, they're required to go find straw and then process it themselves. Is it not obvious that Israel would need more time to meet with his daily task if output must not decrease and their working hours increased?

This year, God wants you maintain focus. Indeed, lack of enough work makes people pay attention to tales, fables and news they shouldn't have paid attention to. It was the principle of enough work that makes a man busy all day that Pharaoh employs here. If you do know you have much in your front, you won't want to allow distraction. When Pharaoh increased the Israelites' daily task and the slave drivers demanded of them to catch up, you know all of them sat up though they still couldn't catch up. An increase in work means a reconsideration of what you give attention to.

Be hard on yourself. Humans by our make up have tendencies to be lazy, sloppy or sluggish. That's where the setting of hard laws over yourself comes in. That's the essence of the task masters and slave drivers set over Israel. When they're not meeting up, they're beaten to catch up. You too must put yourself under some hard and righteous restrictions if you won't be behind schedule in what is lined in front of you to do. Work is important and you must immediately find a job to engage in and give it all it takes to accomplish the day's task daily. As it concerns you, maintain your focus. Be busy enough so that you won't have spare time to be tempted or seduced into petty matters that are not life or concern to you just as Pharaoh considered here for the Israelites though he was wrong. May the hands bruised for your sake grant you great economic breakthrough as you work this year in Jesus name.

PRAYER: I receive wisdom to be disciplined and task myself for achievement.

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

HIS QUIVER IS FULL OF THEM

READ Genesis 48

Genesis 48:12, KJV

"And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth".

While the great desire to have one's issue still reclines in many people's hearts, some don't see the need for it and the population is on the increase. This is very much an act in developed nations of the world where the embracing of pet is even taking the place of a child. Despite this, we can't rule out the joy of being a parent. Those who don't want it are neither sinning nor should they be ostracized. As a matter of fact, in the kind of society they live in, nobody sees it a strange practice. They may have their reasons and it is thus respected.

In today's reading, Jacob was about to be gathered to his people and he suddenly asks Joseph whose were these? Joseph said of Ephraim and Manasseh as the two God has given him in this place (Egypt). To this, Jacob requested they be brought that he might bless them. From thence, Joseph brought them out from between his knees towards his father. Mark that phrase: "from between his knees". That phrase immediately references this verse.

Psalms 127:5, KJV

"Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate".

When I read that place and saw how Joseph brought out his two children from between his knees, I remembered my father immediately. I'm from a polygamous family and my father had twelve children from two wives. Often times, I have seen my younger ones entering into the in between of my father's knees. How many of you have seen an adult sit, especially men and kids running into their knees even if it is when they're threatened? That knee is a place of embrace, security, love, acceptance and good will. My father was a good man. I love and remember him often. I wish he was alive that we might talk together side by side. I had been inside the in between of  his knees many times also. Watch young boys or girls go somewhere where they are offered a seat with their father, you'll observe they might prefer to be in between their father's knees at times. It is security to them as no one could suddenly snatch them for himself. At times, the father puts them there himself. If they're two or one, they might talk to themselves or play with their toys even in between the father's knees. Still in between their father's knees, they might hit him and call his attention to the candy that should be bought. Whether you have a child or a whole football team, what matters is to be responsible and see that each receives a training that'll make them become in destiny on their own right. Children are not to be wasted and they must not become victims of our reckless decisions.

Did you read that Psalm? "In between Joseph's knees" goes for the "quiver" in that Psalm also. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them. "In his quiver" to do what? To bring out, to raise until they capture a mountain which becomes pride of parents and the world.

Today, may God visit all those whose joy is to embrace a baby or have them in between their knees. Some have been imagining this image but their knees are still empty. Joseph brought two out. His quiver was not empty. Yours won't. Since you desire a child, none shall be barren in the land shall work for you. For singles who await the joy of being a parent, that joy won't elude you. The relationship between a child and his parent that makes them find fulfilment in hovering round him or taking shelter in between his knees will find you to fulfill on. It is a thing of pride when a fellow asks your children to come and you bring them out from between your knees where they've been housed and tenderly receives the father's reassurance. Look at that! May you find it fit for practice. May your knees not be feeble by sickness or accident. May your legs not be amputated.

PRAYER: My quiver shall not be empty. I shall have evidences to give at request and always. I receive in my custody children to nurture, train and practice God's fatherhood on.
