ON GOD!

READ John 5:1-6

John 5:3, KJV

"In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water."

May God come through for you. If He has not, you'll have to stay put. You'll have to lay low. Unless there's a move, no one moves. You can't manufacture what is not there. If you do, it won't yield to you. Today, I am caught up in the Spirit of the Lord and wholly praying that God will show you His mercy. I'm praying that God will at this time come for you. Unless He comes, you won't stop hoping, anticipating and remaining on tip toe. Until He comes, you'll still be desirous of your situation being amended. Why are we all looking unto heaven? Why were the invalids all seated with rapt attention and observation? They were waiting for their situation changer. The herald of joy whose feet announces healing.

"...waiting for the moving of the water."

An elderly friend of mine who trades in Forex as a master was explaining the movement of Forex charts to me sometimes ago. He was saying, "once this happens like this and that happens like that, it's then he'll make his move and take the profit." You know, it's like getting into the flow of something when it flows. Great generals have learnt one thing: when to strike and when to refrain! Until what that my friend said would happen the way he only best knows how to describe happens, he will rather patiently wait for it to happen that way. He is not in a hurry. He has said his life depends on being awake while following the charts intricately with minor distraction. I was shocked at the rapt attention he gives to that thing. That's all because of money and it does pays him off.

Did you see the wonder of God also? We are needy ones who seek the big God for his needs. So, we wait. We all are leaning on God. It is He we have found to unburden to. All of us are just pilgrims at His corridor and balcony. Do you know how many in the whole world send requests to God daily? They want to collect from God. Pullings here and there. All on God.The invalids represent each of us that will always have a need to meet. Unless God shows up for us, we'll but continue to pray, trust and exercise faith.  That place says, "waiting for the stirring of the water."

The opportunity to come is the stirred water. The bus they must not miss; but till then, they will be seen waiting, observing; at readiness and attention to take this opportunity and ride on its ability, potential and what it has to offer to settle their need. It's like a man whose debtors must pay him before he settles his obligations. He'll wait till then.

Currently, I'm also waiting for the stirring of the water in a particular area. I've been trusting God to take a step for years. Once the water is clearly seen to have been troubled, I'll be signalled it's time to act but I'm awaiting Him to show off with the final confirming sign of stirring the water as He assures. That's going to be the last sign that will say I should get into active activity of that thing. Until then, I'll have to be full of ears all around my body to detect when the opportunity has presented itself for me to take. I must be able to hit the candle stick or wicket sticks with the ball once that time strikes. The stirring of the water is what signals the jumping into the pool. Without that, no waiter launches into the pool. You may be ready like sin that crouches at the door or like a lion that prowls around looking for whom to devour. However, if the opportunity do not avail itself, you can't still take it. I therefore pray that there will be the stirring of the water now. Let there be a violent reaction. A great warming up. A great signalling and awakening. Let your opportunity, my opportunity, our opportunity show up. Let the transportation we will take show up. I ask for an eruption. A great violence and reaction in the spirit which will birth a physical manifestation in reality that will signal you to move. My spirit picks an image now. It's of sprinters awaiting a shot into the air. You will hear that shot. You won't tarry again but go on this long awaited journey of expectation. The shot is shot, sprint!

JOY IN FULL

John 16:24, KJV

“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

God is after our joy being full. A man without full joy will have diminished strength. He will not be full of activity nor zealous to participate actively in life. He will just be coasting along. There are those that are looking unto God for one thing or the other. This thing has become too tarried that they have lost appetite even for spiritual things. Fervency is reducing and there is a weariness not to continue hoping in their soul. When we gather, we do not know who is crying because everything tends to be good at appearance. He is well dressed with smell of perfume vibrating all around but who knows if such fellow’s joy isn’t complete. While he is well off in other areas yet there is an area that seems he has not received answers. So he is inadequate, deficient and handicapped. Some needed to be married at least for their joy to be complete. She is over thirty and nobody is forthcoming. Some needed to give birth even if it is once so that their joy will be fulfilled. Some need healing and deliverance from a sickness that has made itself a drama so that their joy may be complete. Just various needs.

Fullness of joy is in the presence of God. The Bible also says the joy of the Lord is your strength. If a man’s joy is however lacking, it will show in the reluctance and inactivity of that fellow. He won’t be willing to engage in day to day businesses as it ought to be because he will be feeling a sense of being cheated and derided a thing.  He won’t just be delighte. A thing is eating up his soul, causing pain and disturbance (Nehemiah 8:10).

Naomi was such a woman whose joy was not complete until Obed was brought forth. What did her neighbours say?

Ruth 4:14-15, KJV

“14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons hath born him.”

They knew that Naomi was no longer herself since the lost of her husband and children. Since she came back empty, her life has been eaten away. Nourishment came back to her at the birth of this baby boy who could continue in the name of the dead. As a matter of fact, his birth restored Naomi’s life. She was hurriedly aging but when her joy was complete, life was renewed to her and she senses a reason to continue to live on. It was then life made sense.

David knew what it means for one’s joy not to be complete. He knows such will be lacking in the exhibition of strength. So he said:

Psalm 51:8, KJV

“Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.”

Broken bones inside a man is the state of his heart. He is in a depressing mood. His head is bowed inside him like a reed. No encouragement. He just lives to cope with life until something happens that will awaken his innermost. Like a resurrected person from the dead, he will suddenly be conscious of a new life. Jacob was a dying man until he saw evidences that Joseph was alive. When he heard joy and gladness, a kind of revival surged in him. He was made firm.

Genesis 45:27, KJV

“And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father was revived".

That was the soul that was contented to settle for less and just ebb away like that. At the hearing of good news, there was a return of life and vitality, hope and strength to it. By the reason of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I collect joy for you so that your strength may be complete. Anything denying you joy is judged. A special access has been given you today to ask for your joy and it shall not be denied you.

PRAYER: Make my joy indeed full. Let your joy be my strength. Revive me; let me be robust and full of activity. I refuse to be bowed down but joy in the victory Jesus bought me. Today, I begin to hear joy and good news.

IT IS BROKEN

Read Luke 5: 1-8

Psalms 18:34, KJV

"He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms."

There are people God is revealing to me today. The first are those struggling to subdue and have it answer them. Others are those who by reasons of grace, gift, promise, prophecy or the anointing and other divine elements always have it quick and easily subdued for themselves.

Jacob was asked why it was fast for him. He said because the Lord your God (of his father, Isaac) brought it to him very quickly [Genesis 27:1-20]. There's always the God factor and I want it catch your attention today. We know Jacob lied but rather fetched his meat at home. Yet, through what he said, we are brought the revelation of God helping one to possess, conquer, master, subdue or receive on time.

In today's verse, we read David's testimony. What was his testimony? He said, "it is the Lord who teaches my hands to war and to bend a bow of bronze." Without any sense of shame, he ascribed his achievement of being able to do difficult things to God. Hope you can flamboyantly do same. You may not know but he was saying that from a deep sense of gratitude. He was not saying it to boast but if you say he did, then his boast is still acceptable since it was a boast in the Lord.

What did the Lord help him master? A bow of bronze. An artificial metal produced from iron, harder and more elastic than elemental iron; used figuratively as a symbol of hardness.

That's a bronze or steel. God helped David to bend it. Bending it means exercising a kind of dominion over it. Don't forget that steel is difficult to bend but God armed him to bend it. That's the God factor (God's teaching or special personalized instruction to him). Look, the God factor makes difficult things easy for you. David was blessing the God who helped him to bend a bow of steel. As it is being shown me, it's time for you to have such testimony of having defeated something hard and unbending. Look, the hands of David were made able to master and bring under subjection the strength of this bow of bronze. What are you trying to master that's not yielding, I say "they're broken! That's what I'm hearing". Look, difficult things become easy at God's spoken word. That's your leverage in this kingdom. Peter toiled all night but when he repeated that same act at the word of Jesus that bids him to try again, it was an emptying of the sea into the boats. At my own prophecy today as God's anointed, I say, 'they're broken'. Every difficult things in your life; the things you've been fighting but have been resisting: proving unsubmissive. I heard, "they're broken". It is broken therefore means it is finished. Difficult things have yielded today. They have snapped open for you. To build your house or complete it; to travel to your land of promise; to profer solution to an academic or social problem; to pay debt or raise money; to be freed of sickness, diseases or curses etc - all are broken and solved. Because God is subduing them for you by the anointing, you shall therefore find them submissive. When you labour where you've laboured but without profit before, because it has been broken and solved for you at God's Word, you'll see you'll come back with excellent and compensating results this time. It is now walk over. No more expending of energy and hitting of your head on the wall. I heard, " it is broken. It stands fast and changes not!"

PRAYER: I receive the testimony of "it is broken and solved" in Jesus name. I share same soonest.

YOU CAN STILL OVERTAKE AND RECOVER ALL

Read I Sam 30:1-15

1 Samuel 30:8, KJV

"And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all".

At the arrival of David and his men, they found out that all theirs: including wives and children have been raided away and Ziklag burnt with fire. They wept until they had no strength to weep again. The discouragement towers so much that many people spoke of stoning David for their wives and children led away in captivity. Mark that! When people are offended, they transfer their aggression and one of such that receives such vehemence is their leader. Human nature is always looking for someone to blame or hold responsible. This is why a leader must have a big heart. Like we read, David encouraged himself in the Lord. When there's no encouragement coming externally again, may you still have a lamp in you burning to your salvation. On that note, he enquired of God and was told to pursue and that he'll overtake and recover all.

Is any there who's saying, "Mine is too late. I came really late. I should have followed this passion of mine some years back. Now, I'm already left behind. Look at me, not even a child since my years of marriage."

Do you know the encouragement I'm receiving for you this morning. "That you'll go all the way and equalize". "Equalize" here is not competition but God is saying, the possibility of having been behind is as real as the possibility of catching up. You'll become all what others have become. This teaching is not only to delight you or console you but it's actually the practical truth being uttered and not a teaching done to just stimulate you.

Did you not see how impossible it was for David catching up with those raiders? Already, they left days ago. Even at arrival of David and his men when they could have pursued, it was cry they were crying and emotions they were expressing. Activity they could have gone about once and for all is what they later did and not immediately at discovery of what happened. Yet, because the Lord said it, there was a divine catch up. Listen to me, without the anointing, divine things are unobtainable. It is the anointing that reaches for them in the spirit and imparts them into our lives. How far or great have you been left behind? I say, let there be a divine catch up! When we say you'll catch up, we do not intend that other colleagues who have ran or achieved ahead of you would be stagnant and not progress again. It only means God will double you up to catch up. You'll do double of their work to catch up. Like Elijah ran to catch up because God hastened his steps and eliminated stumbling blocks off his way (I Kings 18:46). Did you not read there that David pursued? When the revelation dawned on David to pursue and he did, he didn't give room for wastage of time or distraction again. His two hundred men who were so weak to continue were left to stay behind. They did not bear unnecessary burden with them. That's wisdom for catch up. You see, when the anointing has come to aid you to catch up, your eyes would open to all areas where the devil had had handles into your life to delay you or hold you back. You'll do away with wastage of time that makes a man think trickles of time aren't as important as the entire twenty four hours.

Today, you're catching up because by the Word of His mouth which won't go back, God is causing you to catch up. Like David met help on the way through that fainted servant of the Amalekite, God would give you those who would help you achieve easily your dreams. They'll help you locate your dreams and wealth in life. These may be mentors in your calling or career. Fathers or mothers who have mastered the vocation and could give you in two statements what it takes to succeed. So, how won't you make it since your coach like that Egyptian knows where the destination is and is pointing specifically to you where the Amalekite with his host have built their camp to stop over? They'll accommodate you and put their resources at your disposal. The encouragement this morning is to stop weeping over the years spent in sin and non discovery of purposeful living. Now that the time of ignorance has passed, rise and pursue. Pursuing is deliberate. Give it attention until you catch up with your mates who have reached destination or are nearing it. Look, when you pursue rightly, overtaking is possible, then recovery. What is recovery? If you ought to have been a Dr. or Prof., it is still possible. If you ought to have built houses and own properties, it is still possible. All the gains that should come out from your pursuing purpose at the time it should have been pursued which others already accrue are still possible. Today, you overtake and recover all.

PRAYER: I overtake and recover all. In pursuing, let me do so in determination. I refute distraction.

INCREASING IN LEARNING

Proverbs 1:5, KJV

"A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels".

What we know is lesser than what we don't know. That is why we give effort to know. Despite this untiring effort to know, nobody really knows. No one really knows because the knowledge he has known is still very limited to what he should or could know. Daily discovery of new things astound and reveal us as just new nursery learners in school. This should put us on tip toes to learn.

The truth is that you can increase or diminish in learning. The man that hears and increases in learning is a wise man that doesn't want to become a fool by time. He's already wise. That's a man that has knowledge and could apply them. Meanwhile, one thing keeps happening to that man. He hears more and as he does, he increases in learning. He observes them all contrary to what some would have embraced which is to stop or diminish in learning since they already have a wealth of knowledge. This man rather goes on to allow the information that comes his way nourish him.

One can easily be deceived especially if he is well read. He can use it to pull rank. He can even get to a place where he is satisfied having books in his library but self deceived, he doesn't need to read them again. A satisfaction of "I have knowledge in books" and not "at heart" can creep in. When it does, a once upon wise man will eventually become foolish. The day anyone stops putting extra on what he has known already is the day that his doom approaches. His day will begin to be numbered. The vast estate he has built by much attention to wisdom and instruction will by time develop cracks.

It takes perpetual humility to regard oneself as a student. No matter the level you've attained, you're actually still a student and you must see yourself so. The Bible speaks of a wise man who hears and increases learning. He is already wise and is qualified to say "I'm full", but he rather covets more knowing fully well that the sustainment of his life and whatsoever system around him is actually based on daily increment of learning. One wisdom and the tapping into a knowledge brought you to where you are. What will take you from where you are to another place where you should be is another knowledge or wisdom. Despising it means maintaining a stationary position. You may long for a change of levels but if you resist the knowledge and wisdom that promotes and translates, you'll but stay on one level.

Proverbs 9:9, KJV

"Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning"

With another like Bible passage, it seems to me that a wise man benefits more from wisdom than a fool. That's why despite what he already has as an asset, he doesn't reproach wisdom or instruction. He knows it is his pathfinder. So,one thing becomes his outcome as he gives heed - he becomes more wiser, he increases in learning. He accumulates new things that he could call his. He keeps on growing and growing and growing. His growing just continues. Fools aren't like him. They reject instructions and instead of being brought out of simplicity, they die there. The wise increases in learning though the one who could have been self deceived to stop learning. That's why that place says "yet he becomes wiser". Does this tells you that the wise will become wiser and the fools become more foolish? The wise seems to be having more. Their great estate didn't quench their thirst for more. I remember a place with this saying:

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath" (Matthew  13:12).

Some are getting better by the day while some seems to observe the reversal also. Your not stopping to increase in learning even means the ability to keep challenging yourself to be a better person. Irrespective of what moral, lesson, doctrine, education you hold as supreme before, in the light of a better one, you're meant to forsake the outdated for the more prospering. You too, despite being already wise, you can yet be wiser. There's always room to be better in attainment.

THE REJECTED IMPROVISATION

READ I Samuel 13

I Samuel 13:8-10, KJV

"8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him".

God doesn't use the untested. We have the tested, failed and rejected. Then, we have the tested, passed and trusted. I had said sometimes ago that you shouldn't think disobedience is voluntary. Something prompts it. If you've not being pressed before, you may not know what it means.

In today's passage, Saul took initiative in order that the people's faith might be increased and their arms strengthened. In such strait and distresses of the people, they needed God on the scene: they needed to hear God. What strategy would He give? At least, let God talk even if it will be "don't move".

The warriors were already disheartened looking at such evil that may befall them by the Philistines they've dared. Samuel had promised Saul his appearance at the seventh day but somehow Samuel tarries. That's where Saul got under pressure. Please, when you fix a schedule or an appointment, do well to meet up with it. If there's a shift, do well to communicate earlier. It is not good to have risen someone's expectation without meeting it or doing so early. You make them worry and begin to think of what might have happened to you even when they should have been the object of concern. Worry shift takes place. Some may conclude "as for this Moses, we know not what has happened to him" and then proceed with life until they discover they're outside God's will (Exodus 32:23). That evil also happened because of someone's delay. Inevitably, delay will happen. When it does to you, may you just scale it somehow.

I knew what Saul felt here that moved him to improvise. Somebody could say "God was testing him..." That may not be under emphasised. Only that you'll have pleaded and not badgered Saul very much for having taken that step if you put yourself in his shoe. When the warriors (your very resources) you wants to fight the enemy with begin to leave; the centre can't hold and you seem to be losing your authority and control over your own people yet with an option of what could be done to win them and have them stay, I think the best of mind would opt for that. No one wants to be left alone in moments when  there's need for human support. But for Saul, it wasn't a blessing. That's why I said, may your improvisations be ones that will delight God. God may not tell you to take that step when there's no voice or sound from Him but when there is an understanding of what should be done that collides with the acceptable that God wanted or might have instructed, you'll be vindicated. Instead of God's wrath, you'll attract His favour. Just like the children of Issachar, you can understand the time.

I Chronicles 12:32, KJV "And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment".

What became the curse of Saul was that he didn't know the acceptable to do here. He knows what to do but not the acceptable and pleasing.

Samuel delayed - no voice nor sound for those seven days. Saul improvised and as soon as the improvisation ends, Samuel appears. This is where my fear ignites. Why didn't Samuel appear almost at the beginning of the sacrifice? Why immediately after Saul finished and things couldn't be reversed. To me, it's as if it has been appointed for Saul to just be unfortunate. Though he thrusts into another's office which is a trespass like Uzziah did (and is punishable if not anointed for such duties) but I wonder why God couldn't have gone ahead to prevent him from this mistake just by moving Samuel to come on time. We didn't know if it was God that delayed Samuel intentionally. All I pray is that when things are not answering when you needed answers, you'll exercise patience the more. After going the miles, you'll add extra again. You'll keep adding until you fulfill both the requirements you know and do not know. When God's voice delays to appear, may you go to sleep even if the situation is contradictory. May you not violate any known principle or command. When your boss at work isn't showing up and the clients are pressing, may you not act independently without doing his mind. May you not sign a deal that will throw you in jail.

PRAYER: Lord, after doing all, may I learn to put extra on it. When delay is inevitable, may I meet the demands of heaven known and unknown. If it remains a minute to my disgrace, appear and rebuke me. Patience, endurance and longsuffering will be put to work.

SATURDAY - 12TH MARCH, 2022

MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

IF YOU'LL STILL BE ABOVE ONLY!

Read Job 1:1-12

Deuteronomy 28:13, KJV

"And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; IF THAT THOU HEARKEN UNTO THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD THY GOD, WHICH I COMMAND THEE THIS DAY, TO OBSERVE AND TO DO THEM"

That place says, "You shall be above only". "Above only" could also read, "Upward only". If you say a thing is above, it stands to reason that something or things are underneath. A thing that is above is marked by being superior and being clearly demarcated by a line of separation from things below. Above only! It means you'll sail. It means you won't sink. Now, if you want to maintain this covenant position, you must not break the hedge. No matter how excellently built a ship is, its undoing begins when water starts to gain entrance into it through any damaged part. Yet, if you ask, "was that ship built to sail?" The engineers would say "yes". Any ship is built to sail and any Christian is by covenant designed to tend upward only but we know what damage, loss and destruction sin and offence could bring. Now, if the ship built to sail sinks (when it was not built to sink), we should find out why what the engineers designed to stay afloat all through its life is doing the exact opposite of its calling. Have we not read that there may be manifestations at the present that deviates from the intentions of the originator at the beginning.

Matthew 19:8, KJV

"He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so".

I pray for you that you'll manifest and manifest continually the intention of the Originator. If a ship sinks, it may lead to the questioning of its builder but we ought to trace why and at the discovery, we can't but say, "this current manifestation isn't the intended because at the beginning, it was not intended so." If all laws of sailing aren't compromised, it should sail.

A Christian who's above only is one who's undefeatable in the battles of life. He can't but win. But tell that Christian that for any to be above only and maintain the winning position, he has terms to keep with God. The hedge is what God built round any Christian to protect his success and victories. You can't break terms of your covenant with the Maker and not be vulnerable to the enemy to touch. Grace may last you for awhile like it did to Samson but a voice would always ask, "Can we continue in sin and say grace should abide?". Job didn't sin before he was touched but we saw the reality of being vulnerable when the hedge is removed for any reason - but on the occasion we're treating, by sin. Brethren, tell that ship not to boast of how excellently built it is or of what quality material it was built of. Just like a breaking of the hedge gives a handle to Satan to come in to steal, kill and destroy, so shall the damaging of the ship invite water that could sink the ship. And so, we have a shocking saying that "a ship could sail on water but do also sink in it". However, we ought learn on what conditions it floats and on what conditions such sinks. This would help us know what to abide with and clear off from. The covenant position of being above only is known to hinge on "if thou obey the commandments of the Lord thy God to do all that He has commanded you". Crested on this, no shaking even if the earth be removed and planted in the oceans.

PRAYER: Teach me the faithfulness of the Faithful. Reconstruct Your hedge round me. I'm forgiven and the covenant reactivated.
