MORNING WINGS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - Olusola ADEJUMO

BUT HERE IS HE; CLING TO HIM - I Perceive Series 002

John 4:25-26, KJV

"25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he."

May you not look for another when here is He. May your search end; may you cease expecting when He has come already. Like we studied yesterday, this Samaritan woman wouldn't believe Jesus wholly for His doctrine - especially as it concerns the place of worship and how to worship. Though Jesus had told her the real essence of worship, she's still of the opinion that Jesus does not have the finality because the Messiah comes.

John 4:25-26, KJV

"25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he."

Yet, the expected Messiah is Jesus who stands before her and speaks to her. May we not be blind to our prepared salvation and the finality that says, solves and cures it all. May we see and recognize. May we recognize and cling to it. As for this woman, the Messiah she has been expecting came and yet she was unaware that it was He that spoke and recommended to her what men should do. She was rather full of jangling - debating Jesus and pushing her believing into the future when the Messiah comes. When your salvation announces itself or himself as your salvation, you can doubt it or believe it. My own prayer is that you'll believe it by first recognizing it. Though this woman narrowly misses her expected Salvation and Messiah, yet the provision of 'He Who Comes' was revealed to her in mercy. Jesus tells her as a matter of fact, "I that speaks, I am He". That begins the end of all arguments but her believing. She eventually leaves her water pot and laments in awkward surprise.

John 4:28-29, KJV

"28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?"

For having told her all she ever did, she believed in Jesus as the probable Messiah. Why? It takes the Messiah - who they know will be divine and full of power and grace to have told her all about herself.

People of God, God is speaking to us. Are we the type that have ears but can't hear? Are we the type that see some strands of evidences and yet doubt? We'll beat ourselves like Thomas does if Jesus had to declare to us, "I am He Who has been speaking to you". You'll beat yourself for late believing and in recognizing Him.

John 20:26-29, KJV

"26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed".

Thomas would never believe though he was told Jesus had appeared unto other disciples. His demand was unless he sees the marks of the nails and see his pierced side, he'll not believe. When Jesus finally appears to him - knowing all his heart intent and all that had afore transpired, Jesus came offering him his demands, asking him to deep his finger in the print on his palm and his hand on his side.

Believe it, Thomas was ashamed of himself. He poorly and weakly said, "my Lord and my God".  Jesus had to say, "blessed are those who have not seen yet believe". In other words, all those who does not believe because they have not seen are not blessed. May God give you sweet perception of the Messiah that stands before you when He (as the gospel) is preached to you. May you see the passing salvation and opportunity of being saved and by faith draw it in. May you perceive, sense and believe even when you have not seen or examine the existence of truth by the tangibilities that appears to the human senses. May you just simply resolve, "if He could tell me all the things I have ever done, He may be the Christ". That woman shouted, "come and see the man who ever told me all I ever did, is this not the Christ?" The answer as they all found out is that, "He is". May you not be passed by. May you not be faithless. May you not reproach Christ even as this year runs to an end. May you not be a mocker. May you be a believer - believing when others doubt, pressing on when others failed.

PRAYER: Lord, grant me the heart of the doer - a recognizing heart. A heart that even picks shadows of things to come when it is far away or near.
