THE UNCERTAIN JOURNEY

READ Gen.28:16-22

Genesis 28:20-21, KJV

"20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:"

New phases because they are unknown always terrify us. The journey into the unknown can make a fool of anyone. We'll wonder if we are up to the task. This is Jacob on the way to Padanaram where Isaac admonished he goes to marry. He is uncertain about his journey but he fully trusting in God that can keep all of humanity made requests in a vow on what he wants accomplished. We all have expectations on our journeys and it is our delight that each step we take brings us to them. "How I wish you make me this or that?"

Don't think you're different or you could have performed better. Humans have a gulf in them that only eternity can satisfy. That's why they'll one way or the other turn to that God at critical moment even if they had not known Him (Jonah 1:6). The fact that there exists a cause behind all causes is being established here. In your day of shaking, when it seems things are unclear, the day of labour or uncertainty, you might cry to the One who saves, to the One unto whom all flesh comes. There's nothing like, "why is much being ascribed to God?" Why not another god or fellow? There are those ascribing it to other gods or goddesses. However, when you're really cornered, lacking in brain as to what to do, when your wisdom has become foolishness and all you've trusted in aren't working, even if you had not believed in God before, you'll look upstairs and say in heavy sighing, "if there be a God up there, do hear me." Then, you'll tender your requests because He is the One we have all found to send requests to in our days of shaking.

Hebrews 5:7, KJV

"Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared."

That day shall come, it shall not tarry when your needs shall make you cry to God. That's why Paul said, "it is in him we move, live and take our being." He encompasses us. Our lives are roundabout round Him. This same statement made by Paul was also affirmed by some secular poets who had discovered the place of God in the community and life of humans when they said, "we are his offsprings" - issues from Him who should consequently look at Him (Acts 17:28).

Jacob was pinned. This is a journey he has not taken before. It is like entering the airplane for the first time to take a journey to a strange land where you'll meet people of strange tongues. While you're happy gaining admission overseas or for the relocation, yet you have fear partly in your soul because you don't know what might happen to you in that land. If the place you're even going is notorious for some evils, your fear might double. This is the same fear with which we have transited into new levels in our lives. This fear do come back on a new job or task but as we spend time there, we tend to become masters at it and forget the days when we fidgeted mastering the field or ask whether we shall amount in it all. At such time of humble beginning, you might be prompted to seek the commitment of God to you. Mind you, not that God has not been available but human mind is easily deceived that God is far and our mind believes until some measures are put in place for assurance (of course which is needed at the lack of assurance), God is not with us. We always want to have the assurance that I have possessed God. He is for me and is for me only. He is with me and I'm sure of it. That's why Jacob vowed. He wants to fulfill all requirements and carry God along. His conscience requested that and he gave it. Afterwards, he is satisfied of God's accompaniment.

Saint, are you in an uncertain moment of life? Has that labour exceeded 24 hours? Are you scared of the future like Jacob? Are you contemplating if all you've seen revealed in your soul will come to pass? Are you doubting if you can become a known face? God is more than able to do all these. Jacob requested of him bread, raiment and safety back to his father's house and He did it. He not only did, he made him return double (Gen.32:10). This is he who had crossed to Padanaram only with his staff. God is saying by the time you'll return to recount your life or tell your story, by the time you look back at the days of your youth (of course at old age or as you grow), you'll have reasons to give ME thanks. "I am the God that answers desires or inner breathings, thoughts, speeches and acts of men."

PRAYER: God, may your commitment ever be with me. May I have a testimony of having fulfilled destiny when I shall recount my story. You see my inner cravings and groaning, make them realities.

THE HEART THAT GOES WITH YOU

READ II Kings 5:1-27

II Kings 5:26, KJV

"And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?"

Where can we go from the presence of God? Psalm 139 is a psalm of discovery that shows our not being able to escape from the Lord.

Psalms 139:2-3, KJV

"2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways".

God is the one that compasses your path. He is the God that surrounds you. In today's passage, Gehazi runs after Naaman to demand of him things that his master, Elisha had rejected after Naaman was healed of leprosy. After his arrival back to the master, Elisha requested of him where he was coming from. He lied and said " thy servant went no whither (II Kings 5:25, KJV).

Elisha then replied, "went not mine heart with thee when the man alight from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to collect this and that?" The following consequence is that Gehazi is cursed and he carries the leprosy of Naaman.

You should know that God's eyes follows you all-around. There is nothing done in secret that won't be made manifest is what the Bible says. As a child of light therefore, let your deeds be wrought in God so that you won't fear being exposed. If you have good deeds, you'll want to manifest it in light/public but if your deeds are evil, you'll want darkness to cover you.  Secret sins and abominable deeds are really irritants to the Lord. You shouldn't indulge in any because God's heart and eyes would always go with you. Your conscience would bear you witness and call you to questions and order.  

There's no time like any other to stop secret sins and come to repentance also than now. It is God before whom we all have to do. Fear Him as one that knows all, sees all and surrounds you about. Decide today not to carry any consequence resulting from secret sins like that of Gehazi. When your ways are straight, you purchase for yourself clear conscience before men and God. Gehazi though lied he goes no where that day knew deep down that his conscience bears him witness. As he denies his master, his heart tells him, "you lie". Your first judge as you go is your heart. So, pay attention. 

PRAYER: I break loose from any habitual sin. I shall keep no secret sin that would bring me losses, harm or death. I'm a child of light and I manifest so.

A CURSE AND WHAT IT DOES

Read Numbers 22:1-10

Numbers 22:6, KJV

"Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed".

That's wise Balak seeking the service of reputed Balaam to come curse Israel for him. Why should another wake to the destruction of another? As it is here, Israel is Moab's threat and Balak, the King of Moab would see to it that Israel is taken out so it doesn't conquer her like it conquered other reported nations for which Moab fear. 

What is a curse? It's a working unseen but which can manifest that becomes an entity - a demon for instance to rule in the affairs of the cursed. Balak couldn't naturally fight and conquer Israel because some nations have tried and failed. On that experimentation, and having heard of the supernatural victories of Israel, he also requested for a supernatural help that might help him subdue them. Why did he request Israel to be cursed? Because Israel is too powerful for him. Begin to think of someone you want to give a knock on the head but who is far taller than you. You need to reach his head and administer the knock but the odds are against you. He's taller than you while naturally you are shorter. You either need high heels to correspond or outgrow his height or you need him to stoop before you see his head available for such knock. Such was the case Balak and his nation fell into. By divine ordination and the sovereignty of God's covenant and blessings working with Israel, no nation could have them fought naturally like that and get them defeated. Having seen this to be true, Balak opted for a way of reducing them to a place of being won. Do you now understand what a curse does? A curse reduces what is tall to what becomes short. It is a curse that makes the invincible to become the vulnerable. Israel is invincible but in the situation room, Balak had gathered that after being cursed, Israel might not be so invincible. The likelihood and chances that she's conquerable would then be opened.

If you're blessed, you don't know what it means until the enemy tries you and they encounter a blockade. That blockade is what every wise enemy always want to remove. Until the removal of that shield of yours, you can't just be touched. Blessing places a "touch not" on you. We have properties that are protected by several things written on them. You'll read a thing like, "Don't enter here. Government's order etc". That simple statement protects that place from being a walkway of men.

A curse brings to a place of vulnerability where the strong becomes the weak and could therefore be handled and the will of the enemy carried out on him. Consider Samson, he was invincible until his source of strength was revealed. After then, he became vulnerable. His two eyes were gorged out and then made a grinder and clown for jests making. Imagine how lowly the strong could become. That secret Samson gave away made him the cursed. That's the purpose of anyone cursing you. It's to subdue you so that anything, anyone and even the least of life situation that others are shelling and defeating could defeat you notoriously. It's then you'll ask, "Why is mine hard? Why can't I do naturally what others are doing and achieving?" Behold, it is a curse. Today, I pray that you won't be weakened. Anything that has weakened you, you recover from such in Jesus name. Even behind you, may Jesus Christ advocate for you not to be cursed. May it be only said of you that, "You're blessed." I break the yoke of curses and the rod of it under which you've been subdued to servitude. 

PRAYER: I refuse to be shrunk. Anything or word of man seeking to create a vulnerability in me to be conquered, I rebuke you.

THOSE WHO SAY OF THEMSELVES THEY'RE BUT A YOUTH

Read Jeremiah 1:1-8

Jeremiah 1:5-6, AMP

"5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am only a youth".

Mindset is very powerful. If people regard you as the head but you persuasively convincingly believes yourself to be the tail, you'll manifest the 'tail'. Whenever God encounters people and calls them as tools to use, one of the first things He does is to make them see they're capable or reinforce same believe in them. That angel told Gideon, "The Lord is with you thou mighty man of valour". Gideon himself was not seeing any fight or warrior spirit in himself. He questions whether God was indeed with them [Judges 6:12-16]. O, how I pray that God will give you those who will show you who you're really are until your perspective is changed when doubt arises in you. Your circumstance, background, past life isn't as important as the  demand on your life and what by calling you are. If God comes to you for use, it means you're usable. Don't reject yourself. While in secondary school, I was called upon to replace a senior graduating student who did chanting and eulogy every year at our graduation ceremony. People would applaud him and spray him money. The Yoruba language teacher knew I could do it. I knew I could do it also because it's a thing I had done in the closet. I was given the material to memorise for the chant but deep down in me, I knew I won't take it. What trick did I pulled out? On the D-day, I didn't go to school. That's how I disappointed them but I didn't do it intentionally. I did it out of fear and non acknowledgment of myself as the one who should do it. I was the Labour Prefect but I was thinking, "why not the Head Boy?" At that time, I suffered a lot of inferiorly complex. I did't even want to be seen. The discovery of my purpose destroyed the yoke. Now, I'm not afraid of taking up assignments. I do and discharge same in boldness. When I preach, it is strong and in boldness. I'm no longer bound by inferiority complex. I'm called and anointed. I'm the chosen. If not me, who else? That's my confidence. So, I radiate it. 

Did you hear what Jeremiah told the Lord? I'm but a youth. Did God call him a youth? Did that One not tell him that his calling predates his formation in the womb? God was saying all these to assure and set him to come to a place of believability in himself. Do you know how many talented, gifted, called, chosen, well favoured people are acting contrarily today? Do you know why? They're seeing themselves lesser than who they really are and what God has really called them. Why are people too conscious of their problems? Why are they swallowed by the thoughts that only some people are glorious vessels but others must be hidden! 

Look, if God is striving to change how you should see yourself and you refuse, you won't be used. God may want to but it won't still work. A poor mindset can't reflect a correct manifestation. Even if you say your God is big but your mindset is poor, you'll downgrade God to a small God. Change your mindset; believe in yourself. You're not too young to be used. Forget about all those disqualifications you are mentioning. There are highway robbers, kidnappers, terrorists, suicide bombers who are just teens. So, what makes you a child that can't do the job? Accept the offer and God will equip you to make up for your real or unreal inadequacies.

PRAYER: [Touch your Bible and say] - This is my Bible and I believe it. I am what it says I am and I can do what it says I can do.

WHOSE ARMOUR ARE YOU TO TAKE? - On Your Side Series 003

Read Eph.6:10-18

Ephesians 6:11, KJV

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

Are you a fan of science fiction? I watched one. There are many creatures in their planets. Each including humans seek dominion and control of other planets. To get this done, they'll occasionally go to war and seek to possess an important stone-like implement that is said to descend some ages ago from where no one knows but which when possessed gives the right of dominion over other planets and creatures to its possessor. In fighting the war, the human community in their planet understand that many of the creatures they'll be fighting are not flesh and blood like they are. They do appear as a shadow, breath or something that you can't tangibly describe or grab until they fall dead and appear tangibly. Until you shoot that shadow that's quick to disappear with the specially created weapon, you won't see them become a tangibility. So, through many experiments, humans create weapons that could classify and take them down. If they were to shoot them with the ordinary gun, they'll just observe that the bullet has no influence on them. The enemy they're to fight which is not of their own composites necessitated the instruments with which they war them. 

God has also not left us without witness. He has given us what could get the task done. He disclosed specifics by which you and I can't be put to shame. That place says, "put on the whole armour of God..." That was to which end? "...that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." That definiteness of whose armour to take immediately reveals there will be other armours. You know as well as I do that there is armour of men and Satan also can't but have his. Consider the Roman soldiers or any who battles in ancient times, all of them went to war in a human armour made by the blacksmith. It is necessary they do if they'll be able to withstand the men of flesh that'll be coming against them. It's necessary they take a shield either made of wood or a sort of steel if they'll be able to quench all fiery arrows shut at them. Then, they can't but be equipped with a sword with which to launch an offensive attack on the enemy. As they're being attacked yet resist same, they must still be able to dish out real offensive punishment to their contenders. Yet, they must be coated in a coat of mail from head to toe. We see a typical example of all these in the care of Saul to David (I Sam.17:38-39). These are the requirements for meeting another man of flesh. No one just goes like that to meet his opponent. He must be equipped and take the researched, provided and guaranteed provision that could only get his enemy combated to himself. Imagine the extent to which man puts in preparation so he might be able to defeat another man. Dragging this revelation into the spirit realm, we'll have a similar end result because our aim is not to fall victim in battle. The Bible says, "put on the whole armour of God." First, we were helped as to what sort of armour to put on. That's the beginning of our doing valiantly and threshing down our enemy - these unseen forces (Eph 6:12). They are not flesh and blood (humans like ourselves) that can be related with with a stone like David related with Goliath. While the process of warring might be similar, the tools are not. The tools are not because the enemies are different and ones who need specific tools to withstand them. Their being invisible or being spirits is the first thing which necessitates what armour we take. Being spirits also means having a measure of power that mortals may not have on his own. If you take a physical armour and by that resolve to fight these spirits, your defeat has already being assured. How many of you has seen the devil and the arrows he shoots as thoughts before?

There are particular equipments that fit them however. That place says, "put on...that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." What does Satan fights with? Is it bullet, nuclear bombs etc? No! He does with wiles - tricks fashioned against another to ensnare him. What he fights with is what changes the mode of our operation. This is why we'll need something like the breastplate of righteousness to protect our mind so that we don't succumb to the devil's suggestion, luring and whatsoever he might sells us. The mind is the battlefield here. Your very mind. It is not one valley or a location in a country like we have in the Ukraine-Russsia case. Today, be sensitized to two major things. The armour to take are God's armour. They're not made by blacksmiths or any invention of men. God is spirit. Satan is spirit. Man is also spirit but living in a physical body. For one spirit to handle another successfully, he must war with what only has been researched, found and prescribed to be able to resist, withstand and defeat its opponent in the said area. God has not found for us any other implements but what he calls His own armour: His initiative for our victory and defeat of Satan one billion times. Take them please!

PRAYER: Lord, may it dawn on me what provision you've provided to battle with. May I conceptualize Satan and his hosts as spirits with wiles and battle them on God's terms and infrastructures .

CHILD, DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS FOR YOU? - On Your Side Series 002

Read II Kings 6:8-19

II Kings 6:15 KJV

"15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?"

May you know what is for you and discover same before the need. Knowing stops fearful laments. A time of need will always come upon us all. That time is when we are taken beyond ourselves. When such moment steals on you, may you know what has been provided for your peace so that your mountain won't melt or slide. Not knowing will make Satan take advantage of you. Ignorance is still costly. 

Luke 19:42, KJV

"Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes."

When the very things by which you could have gained a heart of wisdom, calculate better, live a victorious life is hid from your eyes, it means you'll reap consequences. You'll become vague, lacking in understanding of time, get misguided,  misbehave and get punished. A provision provided by God but not leveraged somewhere is a handle of exploitation for Satan in any life. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:11 that, "put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Some made choices of few while some didn't take at all yet provision is made available and made in full for all. Irrespective of the individual reasons given, you face all you face for not leveraging your infrastructure. Any who won't wear the whole armour should get ready for the consequences. Such will never for once be able to resist the wiles of the devil, withstand him and then stand after all (Eph. 6:13).

A time of need stole on Elisha and servant. All the intelligent information he has been giving Israel to put them ahead of Syria has made him the most wanted man now. The Syrian King won't mind putting a bounty on his head. No wonder he sent such a force to grip him and bring him hither. The army by their own intelligence arrived at night and encamped round the dwelling of Elisha. What else could anyone do than to surrender? However, the commodore, Elisha is not ready for banter or bargaining. At the discovery of the sort of mess they are in, Elisha's servant sent a shriveling note of fear and worry to him. Like a drunken master, Elisha replied with utmost calmness, "they that be with us are more than they that be with them." "What are you telling me? Let's prove it." He turned round to behold the said dispatch. He was the more confused when he couldn't see any special infantry unit or air borne paratroopers descending  and bearing Israel's flag or badge. He then wondered who and where the provision his master described were. The disbelief with which he must have gazed upon Elisha made him usher him into the realities of what he saw which consequently made his own mountain strong too. When he went a step further to pray his eyes open so that he might verify these provisions himself, he saw for himself that his master had not been under the influence of an inducer or a narcotic. At that instance, he was the one calling for trouble and stirring the Syrian army to come. This is what the knowledge of one's infrastructure does to one. Though the mountains be removed and planted in the sea, you're not moved. Now that he has affirmed that they (those promised or said to be with Elisha and he are indeed there), he went into rest. The problem is still the problem but understanding is now present. Child, God is asking, "do you know what's for you?" Soldiers know what's for them. They know their country, barracks, military bases, spies, backup unit, mission leader and arsenal of weapons are for them as treasures to tap into during operations. Have you discovered same for yourself? What are God's provision for you? Angels are one and these are not ordinary creatures. They're ones that can't be dented by humans and outperformed in the spirit. Probably you're surrounded and you're in need of weapons or assurance from God. If you know of God's allocation for your victory, you won't melt when you see what implement the enemy has brought to battle you. Nothing puts Elisha under pressure because he knows by all means that the army dispatched for his needs are spirit compared to that of flesh someone fears. In a twinkle, they'll execute the plan. On this he rests and orders his servant into. However, an unbelieving generation like his servant won't believe he had any provision on ground when he spoke of their arrival to him until he sees them. It was not a greater fact when his opened eyes saw those infrastructures than he heard Elisha proclaim, "on our side is a greater force!" Does that tells you that humans of flesh may not believe what they can't experience. As for Elisha, his knowing there's a provision for them came from seeing those invisible host. For another to believe, the invisible must become present to him. That's why that servant was caused to enter into the knowing of his master so he'll become equal in revelation (knowledge) and then act with Elisha. Until then, he couldn't breathe a sigh of relief or take the position of a carefree Jonah who sleeps in the eye of the storm. I don't know the challenges that surround you. All of it put together isn't up to the vast resources God has provided to have the challenges solved. Satan isn't the problem any longer if you'll recon with your forces, clothe yourself with God's full armour and go war a good warfare.

MANY ARE YOUR PROVISION CHILD - On Your Side Series 001

1 Peter 5:8-9,KJV

"8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."

Is anyone lamenting and sincerely crying loudly, "many there be that surrounds me?" Indeed, many there be or may be that besets you round about but many are those standing up for you also. That's what I heard that commissioned this teaching into tangibility. When we say, "many there be that besets someone round about", we do not mean to say " those many" we refer to are only people. It may be struggles, sicknesses or diseases, lack, conditions or terrible happenings of life or even heritages that are bringing him deficit. All these things summed together are the many things that may surround anyone. When they do, they have not come to play or remain neutral but they have come to make life bitter for the fellow in whose life they koinonia. They're like the two wives of Esau. When  Esau marry them, Satan intended they'll be eyesore not only to him but to his parents. Satan used them to reach the unreached Isaac and Rebekah from having peace of mind or a taste of good news of Esau's home. They caused both Isaac and Rebekah great grief of mind (Gen.26:34-35). This is what Satan stands to achieve in the life of anyone he is always becoming obstacles to. His end result is to cause them grief of heart or what we can simply call "frustration." So much more that such fellow will cry out and not withhold his, "am I the only human on earth?" Responding in this manner is a testament to the devil that he is making progress in their affairs. It also means his victim is beginning to reach a breaking point. It also means he can now say, "damn the way of life and deliverance that comes from the Lord and opt for it elsewhere when the Lord seeks for Jobs who will still hold unto their integrity (Job 2:3,9)." Once the devil turns the red button against you this way, yours is not to be casted down, it is rather to stand firm and resist him so that he may flee.

"9 Whom resist stedfast..."

The word "resist" as used there doesn't mean once you push, Satan will surrender. He'll fight back but your persistence will wear down his wall of resistance. That's why that verse admonishes that we resist steadfastly in faith. There is a "staying there" until the job is done that you must do. You must learn tarrying warfare in steadfast faith. What the devil is pushing to you is what is making you suffer hindrances on your way in life. Your prayer, faith and steadfastness is where you're given the ability to resist him too. If someone is pushing you and you're not pushing back, he'll soon push you down easily. When you don't give up, the dawn will break and the adversary will leave you for awhile like he left Jesus (Matt. 4:10-11). However, remember Satan tarried awhile to tempt Him and did more than once before he left for another opportune time. Satan will persist but you must insist. Use your faith. Don't surrender in your prayer life. Those communication that keeps coming out of your mouth and as groans that you think don't have effect because you seem tired in their days of utterance is actually such fervour that God desires and receives as a sweet incense. They're becoming memorial before the Ancient of Days and sooner an angel (an answer) will soon reach your Cornelius.

PRAYER: I take the shield of faith, prayer in all steadfastness to combat the wiles of the devil.
