BESETTED BUT TURNED FORTH AS GOLD

Acts 27:20, KJV

"And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away."

One of the chapters of the Bible I love reading is this one. It's a travelogue and I enjoy it when people share their experiences especially ones that are testimonies and would lead to giving glory to God. May you too have avenue to share your journeys and experiences in life. May you have the mouth to say the Lord saved me many times and at a time and on a journey like this.

Such is Paul's experience. On his journey to Rome, he faces no little besetting of the wind - known as Euroclydon.  God however assures the safety of his life and those onboard with him. It is natural for those who travel by sea to face the perils of the sea and for those who quarries the stone to be hurt by it thereof. Irrespective of where you journey to or what sort of transport you take, be assured of God's salvation.

When neither sun nor stars appeared in many days (amidst other reasons for their worry), they despaired being saved. Who's passing through hard time there and is beginning to despair because signs of hope that he expects aren't signalling or making appearances. Have you anticipated the appearance of a mate, helper or even fund? My God, the One I serve day and night says I should tell you that not a strand of the hair on your head will fall to the ground. He said, "I'm right by your side as your salvation."

Stars and sun before the invention of the compass were the only and sure guides of sailors who were far and out of sight of land. To worsen their problem, they are no where to be found because the sky is overcast. As such, this guidance couldn't be tapped. What a trouble!

Of the knowledge of this and the besetting wind, they gave up that they should be saved! But despite the hardship, it was as Paul was told. They all had the outcome God assured. There are those who where they are have not seen the sun nor the stars in many days. They have hoped for salvation but no ray of it has shown up. These might include inmates in jail or those who are bedridden by sicknesses or accidents. You might have thought all hope was gone but the Redeemer of men will bring you back to see freely the sun and the stars above your head. To those God is baking who seems to have been forgotten at the backside of the desert, listen, He hasn't. He who bears record of the number of the hairs of your head (paying attention to such insignificant detail), shall He forget or forlorn you? Your time soon nears when the affliction of this present time that you're experiencing shall end and you shall be brought out from oblivion, from following the ewes pregnant with kids to shepherd God's heritage, that He'll submit to you.

However, there's need for patience to have its full effects. It'll make you into a perfect man. That's why it seems God has forgotten you or left you to such speeding and intense pressure even unto the point of breaking. However, you won't break because God has invested in you to equal the test and pressure coming your way. Afterwards, the balloon would be deflated, a way of escape will appear and you shall be saved and turned forth as gold. When you do, all eyes shall behold their king in Science, Art, Education, Politics, Religion (or that human endeavour God is raising you for) and the shout would be, "indeed, the man God has chosen."

PRAYER: O God of Creation, direct my noble cause. Guide me with jealousy towards overcoming all obstacles and standing on the hill.

YOU WILL TRAVEL

Ephesians 5:16-17, KJV

"16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."

When I say, "you will travel', please, do not misconcept me. We are a people of purpose; a people of destiny. We are not vague; we are not purposeless. We are not given to world's craze but rather to the understanding of the will of God. For the Bible says in Ephesians 5:17, "wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."

When you do, it'll save you from a lot of fallings and helter-skelter that brings no satisfaction to the soul.

I know what the will of God is. I do it and I call other men to do same. Because I understood what the will of the Lord is, I can't fall into irrelevancies or magnify the unimportant. However, my understanding of what the will of God is (what He wants and likes done) makes me call many sons to destiny and sonship.

Whenever I say, "you will travel", I intend, "you'll travel towards your goals and into your destiny." I simply meant, "you'll fulfill your destiny." But what you have to know is that there was no one who fulfilled his destiny who didn't travel. I didn't mean "to necessarily travel abroad" though that might be required of the destinies of some people. "To travel" here means to "walk a distinguished or peculiar road." You can't arrive at a destination without having walked a road or gone on a journey. It is the road a man walks that therefore makes him and presents him a usable vessel whithersoever God wants him used. That's what I meant. And as far as I know, God is still raising, sending and travelling men. As such, He considers no cost to expend to sponsor such.

You will travel! You will travel! I said you will travel! God will carry you and send you on the errand of destiny that can fit the kind of man He wants to use. There's always a man God wants to use. He may begin as a child (immature) but he needs become a son (mature and trustworthy). One of the things that'll make him graduate into sonship is the road he walks and the journey he undertakes under God. He may not leave the shores of his country yet begin to walk the path and go on the predestined journey of God for his life. On this note, may nothing hinder you from journeying. May God clear your path of stones and stumbling blocks that are hampering the will of God from beginning to be expressed in you and through you.

PRAYER: Lord, let nothing hinder my graduation into sonship as the rightful man you want to use. I become like Moses - a man you can trust in all your house.

THE COMMANDMENT TO BLESS - Programmed Series 003

Numbers 23:20, KJV

"Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it."

I have received the command to bless, how can I curse? Imagine that! This came from Balaam to Balak. Balak insists that Balaam places a curse on Israel (on his behalf) and all was tried to ensure that Israel was cursed but all was to no avail.

When Balak sent for Balaam, he made ready for him seven altars with differing sacrifices on them the first time. Balaam speaking to Balak said, "I'll go and meet the Lord if probably He'll meet me." When the Lord does, it was blessing He put in his mouth. So, the desires of both Balak and Balaam to have Israel cursed was not fulfilled. This repeated itself the second time when Balaam angered Balak for blessing Israel according to God's dictates to him again. What was Balaam's response? "God is not a man that he should lie, neither is he a son of man that he should repent. I have received a commandment to bless and he has blessed, I cannot reverse it." Though the event continued to the third time where neither Balaam nor Balak could change God's mind by their sacrifices or desires to have God curse Israel, yet we shall stay on the second event.

The reply of Balaam to Balak that second time shows God's insistence to have Israel blessed despite their own insistence to overrule it and have her cursed. Balaam confesses, "what can I do? I have received commandment to bless, He (God) has blessed and I (a human) cannot reverse it." In every situation, this is your outcome as a Christian. Meanwhile, I want to stay on the fact that Balaam became impotent changing what God has said because it was a COMMAND to bless he had given him. God didn't leave him to his discretion. As often as he comes to God, God tells him what to say and mandatorily, he just cannot deviate from that. That's why he said, "I have received a commandment to bless." So, the calling or call on him for that time being is to bless and not curse.

That commandment to bless and not curse could be likened to how God straightup raises people for a purpose He wants them to fulfill which they must not deviate from. He hooks them up to it and they get hooked up to it. They breathe after that assignment and that assignment breathes through them. Other things that other men are commanded to do may be interesting but they actually won't give attention to it because they aren't called or commanded for them. As such, this act is the work that God alone does. He places us and specializes us on what we should do. Like a command, we hear, we do; we deviate not. I pray for you that you'll not turn away from any call or calling on you. That of Balaam was to bless Israel despite having the desire of cursing them and at last he blessed them. May God so much gag you with the calling and the obligations of it that it'll be the only thing you'll live for. So shall it be in Jesus' name.

PRAYER: I have been called and commanded to live a certain life, that I will live and not deviate.

THE LAW OF SEASONS - Programmed Series 002

Genesis 41:47, KJV

"And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls."

I'm continuing from where I stopped yesterday. Today, I'm on the law of seasons. Did you observe that it is the same ground that brought forth plentifully during its seven years of plenty (when it had and bore the command of bringing forth plentifully) that also brought forth nothing during its programmed years of famine? That ground was obeying the law of seasons.

Seasons will always come upon us because we are created to be ruled by time and seasons. All the lights: the greater or lesser lights that God placed in the firmament were to be for seasons. They are to indicate a turn in time to another. They are to indicate a change and a moving into a different setting other than it was or had been (Gen.1:14-18).

For instance, let's look at the creation story. We read that God sets the greater light (the sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night. He created the stars also. These two elements are sticking to their programming or calling when they appear in the day or night respectively. You won't see them break ranks. The sun won't appear in the night and vice versa. That's because like the ground bearing different commands from God, they have a calling, dictate, command or programming to live up to. As such, they stick to it. However, they're for seasons. When departure from day time to night time nears, darkness begins to descend. You'll even see plants and animals obey seasons by going to sleep. That's because a season is over and another has taken over.

The law of seasons can't be overturned. In Eccl. 3, the preacher talks about time and different types of time. In other words, he was saying, there be many seasons. Irrespective of the season, may you flourish still. May you not be handicapped by a season you didn't prepare for. Whether the ground yields plentifully or brings forth sparingly, having learnt the wisdom of storage and preparation, may you continue to live on.

PRAYER: I flourish in and out of seasons.

THE CALLING ON YOU CALLS YOU TO ACTION IRREVOCABLY - Programmed Series 001

Genesis 41:47, KJV

"And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls."

The calling on you will place some demands on you that you can't but act out. What type of calling or command or programming you're carrying is what determines your action or what sort of manifestation you'll give off.

Here, by God's invention, seven years of abundance and seven years of famine are slated. The abundance would come first before the famine follows. As God plans it, those seven years of abundance will not diminish or increase even by a day. It is seven and seven it'll be.

Now, let's visit the programming or command God gave to the earth or ground in its seven years of abundance. It's for the earth to bring forth abundantly. That place says, "in the seven years of famine, the earth brought forth abundantly or plentifully." Why would the earth bring forth abundantly in those years and not act the other way round? It's because the ground has a calling on her to discharge in those seven years of famine. Likewise, the ground didn't bring forth plentifully in the seven years of famine. Rather, the encoding and commandment God gave to them was what they lived out in those 7 years each.

That's true of anyone's calling. When you're called, you're simply programmed to reveal some things or do some things. You rarely can go outside them. If you'll ever do, it'll require disobedience which would attract their penalties and dangerous consequences. Why? We are created for our calling. The ground during the seven years of plenty was to bring forth plentifully and not do otherwise while the ground in the seven years of lack was to stick to how it has been programmed - not shifting ground.

As such, calling narrows you and makes you rigid and established in a way or course of life. God is calling us to establishment in what He has called us into. We are to be rigid and stay in our lane. We are not to break ranks. You're not to covet switching lanes or exercising yourself beyond your measure. Those who once did and were not allowed broke their backs and regretted same. We have searched God out and we have found Him to be true. He's true and we preach Him as same to all. Believe Him; believe your call and stay and spread in your call.

PRAYER: I yield as I am goodly programmed. I am the called of God and I give my ministration to the needy world.

THE TURNING POINT: JUDAH TURNED - Kingdom Administering Series 009

Genesis 38:1, KJVc

"1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah..."

Judah departed from his brethren and he could find no other place to dwell but to TURN IN to a certain Adullamite. The Bible calls that man Hirah. I'm still on administering and how to be properly administered. Though we're humans, in God's kingdom, we're resources in His hands. He can allocate us and send us wherever He wills and for whatsoever need He chooses. Though we don't have it in black and white that Judah was led or guided of God here but a man of revelation and one full of God's Spirit could begin to sense something. First, we might need to probe why Judah went down from his brethren. Why did he stop living with those he had grown up with? Why would he take the bull by its horn and depart from family care, comfort - leaving the benefits of being with one's own people. It may be a drive to seek one's own achievement and be made. Anyway, we know that the promise of "a seed will crush the head of the serpent" seeks to manifest through him. He's the chosen one through which this promise must be perpetuated. As that seeks for expression, Judah for a reason he himself might not be able to point to leaves home. We could say, "he went abroad." When he did, he found no one to turn to but Hirah. The Bible puts it this way: "Judah went down from his brethren and turned in to a certain Adullamite. There, he saw a certain Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua and went into her and she conceived."

Underline "to turn in". It means Judah made a choice to abide or stay with Hirah. While he was looking for who to stay with as a foreigner, he found a son of peace in Hirah and he turns to live with him though Hirah is a Canaanite. We were not given details but a sort of agreement must have existed between both. It may be that when he got to the city gate, the only fellow who was willing to accommodate him was Hirah. As such, he turned in to live with him. In turning in therefore, he jettisons others. There cannot be any turning in to dwell with someone without agreement or contentment issue having been settled. Or he might have been pressed or desperate to have a place to dwell amidst having known Hirah before. Irrespective of which is correct, Judah was contented to turn in and dwell with Hirah.

His turning in began being calamitous marrying that daughter of Shua but through his ignorant intimacy with Tamar, his journey and turning that could have ended on a sad note took a new turn - he raises a seed to perpetuate the promise. This found fulfilment in Jesus down the line.

I pray for those of you yet to find your foot that the right man will open his door to you. You'll be jealously guided where only good, destiny, the promise and prophecy would happen to you. You'll find a place to turn in and shelter in. They don't need to have known you before. Like Jesus said, "if a son of peace dwells there, they'll accommodate you and will even provide for you" (Luke 10:5-7).

Also, the relationship Judah came into with Hirah blossomed to that of friendship so much more that they now visit sheepshearers together at Timnath. It was so profitable to Judah that he could even trust to deliver the fee of prostitution through Hirah to his daughter in law, Tamar who he unknowingly slept with.

Your own turning in to which ever place will be profitable. You'll see people to accommodate you. I'm declaring concerning those of you in a land with nobody you resemble but with desperateness to be helped even to become citizens, your Hirah will come. Only that he won't be the cause of your downfall but rather promotion. So shall it be.

PRAYER: Lord, ordain men and relationships meant for my destiny for me wherever I turn.

CONTENTED TO DWELL WITH HIM III - Kingdom Administering Series 008

Titus 3:12, KJV

"When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter."

As my time drew near to handover as Anglican Students' Fellowship (ASF), Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) president (this was on campus) in 2015, I began to pray to God on what He'll have me do next. God spoke to me; He didn't refrain. He gave these Bible verses for my guidance: Titus 1:5, 3:12.

So, I took it upon myself to ensure the next leaders were rightly chosen under the vetting of the alumni body. After handing over however, the Part B was no where to be fulfilled. God had afore told me that He'll be sending me to Nicopolis and that He'll be there ahead of me and that I should come there. But here we are, I had handed over but don't yet have any place of assignment. Anyway, I knew Nicopolis is where God would have me trained for ministry. I had perceived God's calling on me long before then and was towing its lane. I once met the then presiding priest at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Ijagun (where we students use for our services as well) to disclose to him my burden to be trained for ministry. It was Canon  Wale Omotayo then (now Venerable). He was willing to see to helping me but my spirit was still not settled. My spirit was like the Spirit which hovers on the surface of the water in Genesis 1. By training , when my spirit is unsettled, I know it's because I'm missing something. Just like the birds of Noah, I couldn't find a suiting resting place even as I go out awaiting the fulfilment of what I had received. I was going to and fro in my mind and caught up by indecisions. One thing that I didn't feel called into was going to join the Anglican Communion as a priest. I felt that was not my call or style of operation. I felt God would have me found something and not join. So, I let the offer go. I then packed my luggages to go stay with Bro. Emmanuel Awofeko (now Dr.) at Adefisan, Ijebu Ode while awaiting God to show me Nicopolis and with whom to winter.

Just then, I came back to Abapawa (a community where my hostel was while a student) to pack my books to Bro. Awofeko's place where I now stay in town. There at Anglican Bus Stop, Ijagun, I met a priest dressed in a green lace with a Dag Heward Mills book in his hand. We had met before but I had not been in any continuous relationship with him since I handed over to Bro. Ngu Barak (the new fellowship's president). Moreso, I felt I was done. It is now the turn of another person to go on and see to things without my interference. Probably if it was Canon Omotayo who was still around, I might have checked in. But, this was a new priest and who knows him really well but God?

That new priest was Canon Johnson Oyebode (now Venerable). He asked what I had in those teeming bags I was carrying and I declared, "my books." He said, "so, you read?" I said I do. The next thing he did was to say, "come and see." I went in with him and for the first time in my life, I saw the library I had never seen before bulging with various books bothering on spirituality and ministry. I was impressed to see all the kinds of book I'll like to read. We conversed for awhile and we left the matter there. Meanwhile, he'll invite me over for night vigils with him. I repeatedly attended this vigil until I eventually moved into the vicarage. He gave me a room upstairs and I was contented to dwell with him having learnt by experience that he's an oracle of God. Indeed, I learnt a lot from him. His family became my family and even till now, his wife is my mother and he's my father.

But first of all, I was brought to a place of contentment. I was brought to a place of agreement. I saw him share revelation and more importantly, I just found him attracted to. I knew it was his anointing drawing me. Over the years, I now know that if any minister carries a portion meant for you, you'll be attracted to his anointing. Today, I function as an exhorter, teacher, prophet and minstrel just like him. But all started from a singular instruction to go and winter at Nicopolis where God eventually guided me to.  This description of mine is well known by all ASF Executives who graduated with me in 2015 and subsequently after. They all knew I said before hand at our excos meetings and before my handing over or anticipation of the fulfilment of what God told me that God would have me go to Nicopolis - a place I'll be trained for ministry. I was specific to the core and all happened just as I heard. When I eventually found it, they bore me testimony. Someone like my Sister Coordinator, Sis Eunice Olabode and other executives who served with me but were reordained to serve with Bro. Ngu Barak would bear me witness. I'm a testament to God's leading and provision. There's a place to winter or be at a particular moment indeed.

When you find your person, you'll be contented. There will be peace in your heart. Assurance will make you strong and you will sense and see for sure, this is what I've been looking for. You'll see that this person is as I am and is the mould that can form me. Don't just choose a mentor. Let your needs under God choose him for you. I've gone on to continue to minister on my own but I continue to reference this anointed Anglican minister as also being critical in my journey. As a matter of fact, he's the first ever anointed man who preaches, heals, casts out demons and live as testimony of all Jesus believed and did that I ever lived with. He practices identification with Christ to the core and like E.W. Kenyon, he is a revealer of same. He's a bundle of testimony.

PRAYER: Connect me to my next phase, assignment or my God given mentor.
