IT TOOK SEVEN DAYS
Read Joshua 6
Hebrews 11:30, KJV
"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days."
Tell yourself or somebody there that "it took seven days."
One of the famous stories in the Bible is that of the wall of Jericho. Even the heathen makes reference to Jericho and to an extent have heard by hearing what led to the collapse of it.
The Lord told Joshua, let the priests do this and that. You will walk encamped round this wall for seven days and on the seventh day (walk round it seven times), you shall receive an answer to your act. So it was. On the seventh day as the priests bore the ark and as they blew the trumpets and shouted with a great hailing, the wall of Jericho - that mighty wall that has the width of a standard double line express road collapsed. But this collapse didn't happen on the first day. It was not even on the third day or the sixth. The collapse of this wall had to complete its cycle. The cycle was seven days and then seven times on the seventh day. Until the seventh day dawned and that same action which in the new testament could be translated as prayer was done, the wall still stood mountainous.
You've been praying for awhile now and you're fainting already. You've been murmuring and littering your prayer room with complaints that no answer has been received. Is that how Jericho's wall was collapsed? Did they not persist in that faith act before Jericho gave way and fell. Now, you want to command that stronghold and you commanded once and gave up repeating the command because the stronghold didn't give way. Even Jesus repeated a laying on of hand [Mark 8:25].
Jericho was addressed the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and then seventh day and then seven times. To reach the seventh day, they had to painstakingly pass through the process of each day. You, what have you endured? You started praying on a thing and here you are, collapsing on your bed for no answer. Yet, you've not even surrounded or brooded over that wall for three days. You're still far from achieving if you'll give up this way. Those who give up even on the sixth day don't get to see the collapse of the seventh day but tell all those that will be persistent in the place of prayer that they'll receive answers to their prayers.
Have you not read of that widow that persistently worried the judge? Jesus parabolically taught us that men ought to pray and not give up [Luke 18:1-8].
That Jericho did not heed on day one isn't a denial that it won't collapse at all. The collapse of Jericho has been dated and well fixed. You just need to push until you hit the seventh day.
This money thing that you're searching to gather, having it takes seven days. You can't start work today and declare, "I'm retiring like that." No, it takes seven days. Time is all we have to become somebody and that takes time. Even when it's very easy with a good job, you'll need to pass through the process. You don't enter school and graduate the same day. It takes seven days! So, that thing you also want in haste which is already putting you under pressure of comparison with those who have fulfilled their seven days, you need to check it. Don't relent in hard work but don't cut corners to quickly fulfill your days.
To that fainting soul, seventh day is near. Persist. Anointing was on Joshua but the Spirit of Wisdom he had received through laying on of hands of Moses instructed him that his seventh day is inevitable. So, have you fulfilled your days? A larvae doesn't turn into a butterfly in a jiffy nor are eggs hatched as soon as they are laid. Even God didn't speak the Word until the Spirit had first ploughed, brooded, walked over and trodden on the water. A road leads to the end. Walk it and as you walk it, take delight in your journey and pay attention to the life lessons. It is with the comfort you therefore receive that you'll use comfort others one day. If you won't be deficient telling your story, you must embrace hardship now like a good soldier. When you tell your story in years to come, you'll be celebrated as a hero and not a victim. Your answer will soon answer you. Stay there!
PRAYER: I shall persist. I shall see the seventh day. I obtain result in the place of prayer.
